Saving a copy vs saving

I can "save a copy" of an interactive document using adobe reader as often as I please during the writing process, but I cannot just "save" the document. Is there a way to "save" during the writing process without having to "save a copy"?

Reader: Adobe Reader XI.
Operating system: Windows 7 Home Premium
I am unable to click on the save button. The option is there but I cannot click on it. I have to go to the toolbar < file <save as. I cannot click on the save option in the tool bar.
Any solutions?

How automatically saving a copy when saving a file?

For my pictures (RAW and PSD) I use a separate external disk, our Timecapsule would be full in a year. My work flow in copying is normally no problem. But of course now my iMac drive is 'broken' I find a few PSD-files not be copied to the external drive. I wondered, is there a simple way to automatically save a copy when saving a file (and replace an earlier version of the copy)?

FWIW I'm very keen on improving tethering and lobbied Adobe endlessly until they added the overlay for shooting into layouts because it was a major reason why some of my clients were unable to switch to Lightroom from PhaseOne. But we have to be realistic and remember that tethering just isn't a key market for Adobe as it is for PhaseOne, so progress is painfully slow. For example, where is live view or setting exposure which are in PhaseOne? I'd be amazed if we get those features for a few versions, and that's why I point serious tethered shooters to other solutions. And realistically, assuming your understanding of the SDK is correct you shouldn't expect a change until the next full version of Lightroom. Good if it happens, but I wouldn't bet on it.

In Illustrator, I have a saved artwork, then I'm saving a copy as PDF, as usual.
After I keep the AI file open, making some modifications which I don't want to save, so I close the file and click "Don't Save".
Even though I clicked that, the file's modification time is changing.
(The modifications I made are not there, so it's not really saving but why the date is changing then?)
Please find the cause of it! Thank you!

All I can suggest is that you open that file on the MBA and save it as a new file, then see if you can open the new one on the iMac.

Mavericks Server - Files/Folders disappearing when saving or copying.

I have a Mac Mini running Mavericks(Server) with a Promise raid attached.
The users are part of a 'Staff_All' group and said group has RW access to the file server through ACL. A few times now the user has created a folder and upon copying items, saving items or even creating new items in the folder the items will disappear from their view. If I log in to the server itself the items are fully visible, and upon creating a new folder on the server and copying the folder contents into the new folder he can see the items just fine. This doesn't always happen, so the work around for now is have the user create a new folder and recopy the items into the new folder. I have tried connecting as SMB2 and AFP, same results. Nothing looks odd with the permissions.
Any insight that can be provided would be appreciated.

In the sidebar of the Server.app window, select the icon at the top with the name of the server. Then select the Storage tab in the main window pane.
Navigate to the folder in question and select it. From the popup menu at the bottom with a gear icon, select
Edit Permissions...
Verify that the permissions are what they should be, and make changes if necessary. Then, from the same menu, select
Propagate Permissions...
Check all applicable boxes, including Access Control List. If in doubt, check all boxes. Click OK.

I’m not sure what you mean by not saved, but if you expect to copy a current translated page into a new page, and inherent the translation in the new page, the answer is NO, it’s not saved.
Adding a new page to your application, even by copying an existing page, is a major change in your primary language application, which create multiple new independent elements in your application (after the page has been copied, there isn’t any link between it and the original page). You need to re-seed the primary application, export a new XLIFF file, and translate the new <trans-unit> that were added to it.

What kind of context menu do you see instead?
You can right-click such an image and use Inspect Element to open the Inspector to see what gets selected instead.

No this is not the problem. The bcc option was set to off, yet still I got copied. That was when I discovered that some off my mail setting on/off buttons do not slide, as I then slid the bcc option to On, and now it will not slide back again.

PDF Files in Reader Saving As Instead of Saving

Hello,
I am running Adobe Reader XI.
My colleagues are all running other PDF editing software (I don't get the PDF editing software since "I don't need it.") When I open a PDF document that is on our shared server, I will sign the document on Reader and then go up to click Save; however, Reader opens up the Save As dialog box.
No one else in the office has the document open - so there is no reason why Reader should want to create a copy by saving as.
I just want to save the document that I signed without creating a new document and then uploading it to our server.

Editing iPhoto photos in Photoshop CS4 and saving a copy

I'm relatively new to Mac and am trying to figure out my workflow. I like a lot of the features of iPhoto, but I'm struggling with something critical.
Typically, when I edit a jpeg in photoshop, i like to save the modified version as a copy either with a -01 suffix or I create another folder in the file's original folder named 'Revised' or something like that and save the copies in there. I don't see how I can get the iPhoto event to update to include the added file. It seems clear that it definitely won't add the folder.
I've noticed that Lightroom does the same thing. Once a folder is imported, it doesn't seem to go back and check to see if changes were made in an external program.
Perhaps it's possible to force an update, but that doesn't really solve it either, unless I'm willing to go in and update the folder/event after every edit I make is PS.
Anyone know if I'm missing something or have a recommendation on how to work more effectively?

If you're not editing RAW file then the following may be of some help to you:
Using Photoshop (or Photoshop Elements) as Your Editor of Choice in iPhoto.
1 - select Photoshop as your editor of choice in iPhoto's General Preference Section's under the "Edit photo:" menu.
2 - double click on the thumbnail in iPhoto to open it in Photoshop. When you're finished editing click on the Save button. If you immediately get the JPEG Options window make your selection (Baseline standard seems to be the most compatible jpeg format) and click on the OK button. Your done.
3 - however, if you get the navigation window that indicates that PS wants to save it as a PS formatted file. You'll need to either select JPEG from the menu and save (top image) or click on the desktop in the Navigation window (bottom image) and save it to the desktop for importing as a new photo.
This method will let iPhoto know that the photo has been editied and will update the thumbnail file to reflect the edit..
NOTE: With Photoshop Elements 6 the Saving File preferences should be configured: "On First Save: Save Over Current File". Also I suggest the Maximize PSD File Compatabilty be set to Always.
If you want to use both iPhoto's editing mode and PS without having to go back and forth to the Preference pane, once you've selected PS as your editor of choice, reset the Preferences back to "Open in main window". That will let you either edit in iPhoto (double click on the thumbnail) or in PS (Control-click on the thumbnail and seledt "Edit in external editor" in the Contextual menu). This way you get the best of both worlds

Saving a copy of a pages document

I am not quite sure of the proper order to do this. I have a big document with graphics and most of it is in colour. I have it saved as a .pages document. I need to make a copy of it in grayscale. I know how to change the colour photos to grayscale, but how do I save it so that I dont overwrite my original colour document? I need to have one of each!
If I go ahead and change the colour pix to grayscale and then do a Save As and give it another name, will that preserve the original one? I really dont want to mess this up!

It may help to read the Pages09_UserGuise.pdf downloadable from under the Help menu, but these are really system issues, not specific to Pages.

Saving a copy of active AI CS 4 document as EPS Illustrator 8

I have Illustrator CS4 (Windows version) and I need to save a copy of a currently open (active?) document (there could be multiple open documents but I don't need the script to cycle thru them, I just need it to work on the active document.) in Illustrator 8 eps format. The file needs to be saved in situ with the same name only extension should be .eps instead .ai.
How can this be done with JavaScript?
Action script records a specific path, so all files end up in the same directory as the file used for trecording the script step regardless of where the files are actually located, so I hope that a JS can be used for this purpose.
The scripts I have found so far on the forum are much more sophisticated than what I need and seem to prompt user for the directory. I don't want the script to prompt user for anything.
Any help wit this will be greatly appreciated.

How can I copy my saved usernames and passwords?

I would like to be able to copy a list of saved usernames and passwords from the security section of options, to another folder on my computer. Is there a way to do this? Or is there a way to print out this list?
