Saving a droplet won't maintain .PNG format...why??

I created an action that includes changing the format in the Save for the Web feature to .png. When I run the action independently it works fine and saves the file as a .png, when I run this same action as a Droplet it saves the files as .psd. This has worked in previous versions, but I can't figure out why it does not work now. Perhaps something has changed in the File Naming section?
This fails to maintain the .png format in both the Mac and PC versions.

What version of photoshop are you using?
Can you post a screenshot of the action and settings your using in the create droplet dialog?

no dear there is not any option as u suggested.
rightnow i am using my canvas and making the bytearray of it and then I am saving this bytearray  with .jpg/.png format with the JPEG/PNG Encoders. but what it does? It makes a single .jpg file of canvas so if there are 3 images in it than it will save entier canvas as .jpg.
I want to save each image as different layer and finally the canvas should be save in .psd format show i can open that .psd file in photoshop..

I have used Image Capture to scan images/documents and then saved them as either PDFs or PNG files.  For some reason, just this past week, Image Capture will no longer save the file.  It scans, and the Scan Results window pops up, but it won't save file.
The file name has no special character in it, just letters and no spaces.
I have done this in the past and it has worked, but now it will not.
I have not upgraded any software, that I am aware of.
After scanning, the Image Capture pops up the Scan Results with the file name in the window, but neither the Scan Results nor the Image Capture window responds to inputs.  The Image Capture window is frozen, with only the "Overview" and "Cancel" buttons active (but non-responsive).
Is this a software issue or a scanner hardware issue?  I am using a HP Photosmart C6200 series printer/scanner on a network using a Time Capsule airport.
    Thanks.

    I had the same problem.
Got a 90% fix.  Apparently the Mavericks preferences won't work with Yosemite, so I just deleted the Image Capture preferences.
Unfortunately, the "Scan to" folder seems to be permanently set to the Pictures folder.
    1.  Quit Image Capture
    2.  Go to Finder > Go > Home, which opens up your home folder (named after your user name)
    3.  Open Library > Preferences > com.apple.ImageCapture.plist - Drag this file to the Trash
    4.  Start "Image Capture", click "Details" and change all your settings as you prefer
    5.  Quit and restart "Image Capture".   Notice it remembers all your settings except "Scan to" folder.  It insists on saving to "Pictures".
That's as far as I was successful.  I tried changing the "Scan to" folder to "Desktop", but on launch, Image Capture always sets it back to "Pictures".
    This is what I tried:
    6.  Download and install "Pref Setter" from http://www.nightproductions.net/prefsetter.html
    7.  Quit "Image Capture".  Right-click on "com.apple.ImageCapture.plist" and open with Pref Setter.
    8.  Search for "Pictures", which finds "~/Pictures" (the tilde character at the start means your home directory).
    9.  Double-click on "~/Pictures" and change it to the folder you prefer.  I like "~/Desktop"
    10. Choose File > Save then Quit from Pref Setter.  Note that re-opening the plist file still shows "~/Desktop"
    11. Start up "Image Capture" -- on startup, "Image Capture" sets "Scan to" folder to "Pictures"
    I consider this a bug.

  • "The rasterized image exceeded the maximum bounds for saving to the PNG format"

Hi everyone, I'm using Illustrator CS4 and encountering the following problem:
I made a level map in illustrator that exceeds 10000x10000 pixels. When I try to export the image as a PNG, I get the error "Could not complete this operation. The rasterized image exceeded the maximum bounds for saving to the PNG format". I tried saving in JPG and others as well, but got similar errors.
How can I get around this?

Here is an interesting discussion: http://bytes.com/topic/php/answers/735556-png-maximum-dimensions
-- although the dimensions there are way larger than your paltry 10K x 10K. It appearts not to be a limitation of the PNG format, but solely from the software used.
Here's a question. What on earth do you think you need 10K x 10K PNG files for?

  • Using PNG format with max width without clipping top and bottom of image?

I am using PNG format to preserve the transparency and drop shadow I am trying to incorporate to give the illusion that this slab object is floating above the other layers.  I first tried file>place to position the menu object on edge of header/beginning of content.  Doing that leaves no options to force the image to span the width of whatever screen.  I need that so I've tried using object>fill> and then clicking the max width of the rectangle (which does solve the max width problem), but I am now dealing with a clipping problem of the top and bottom of the image.  The next thing I can think of is to go back to Photoshop and distort the image so it isn't as tall.  I feel there has to be a simpler way to accomplish this that won't also give my image a unnatural look.  Thoughts?  Thanks in advance.

Thanks, that helps.  I also found that I cropped to much of the canvas.  After increasing the canvas area AND setting to fill all is well now.  I think your suggestion may help with the scrolling affect problem I'm having when using different resolutions. I am going to try to set the size in one dimension (height) so that different resolution screens see the same scroll actions.  Thanks Mylenium!

  • Metadata for PNG format

Is there anyway to retain the Metadata when saving a file from .PSD to .PNG?    I get a warning saying the file has to be saved as a copy, and then metadata is gone.
    Mac 10.6.8

Adobe Photoshop engineers have commented on this over the years.
PNG is not viewed by Adobe as a working format, just an end-product or final-output format.
    For example:
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/4000022#4000022
PSD files support layers and more metadata than PNG.
PNG is not a working format, but something you export to when you're done with all your edits, similar to JPEG or GIF.
    and
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/1205501#1205501
Unfortunately, PNG has only minimal (and confused) metadata standards.
You can tag it within an application, but the application doesn't have a standard way of putting the metadata into the file.
There will be more hits if you do a forum search and add Chris Cox as keywords to your PNG metadata search.
A thing to remember is that web sites very often will convert PNGs to JPEGs and do it very badly, beside stripping metadata.

  • How to save a selected word image to image file in open XML in PNG format?

    Hi Everyone,
I have a very strange problem. I want to extract the image from word using open xml sdk. Here the user selects the image on opened word, and then clicks on any button, so it should extract the same selected image to any predefined location in the PNG format.
I also tried to do the same thing using Word API, there I am copying the selection of image to clipboard and then getting the image and converting it to bitmap and saving it, but the image resolution is coming very bad. Is there any method through which
I can save the image to file either by Open XML sdk or Word API using C#.

  • Cannot save to PNG format ?

    Hi, (Photoshop CS5 newbie)
I have been putting together a birthday cadr for someone and adding layer after layer with many his res images etc., I have saved the beast in the default PSD format and it weighs in at a massive 388,963 KB. Photoshop doesn't let me save in any other format, ie JPG or PNG, even after flattening the layers and reducing the image size.
    Q. Is there an threshold in terms of size that limits the output file type?
    Q. Please suggest a way forward so I can save as a JPG or PNG ?
    Many thanks..

"Attempting"???  What do you mean "attempting"?  Just do it.  Well make a copy if you don't understand what you're doing, and convert the copy.
The dialog box is telling you what you should already know.  Namely that "reducing the bit depth" (i.e. going from 32 bits to 8 bits) will affect the colors of layered images.  That's OK, because the PNG format does not support either layers nor 32 bits, so there's no other way of doing it.
Yes, Merge the layers, and Convert to 8 bit.  Then Save as PNG or JPEG.

    hedger,
How do you expect anyone to help when we don't know a darned thing about the file, abut your setup, exact version of Photoshop and your OS, machine specs, etc.?
    BOILERPLATE TEXT:
Note that this is boilerplate text.
If you give complete and detailed information about your setup and the issue at hand,
such as your platform (Mac or Win),
exact versions of your OS, of Photoshop (not just "CS6", but something like CS6v.13.0.6) and of Bridge,
your settings in Photoshop > Preference > Performance
the type of file you were working on,
machine specs, such as total installed RAM, scratch file HDs, total available HD space, video card specs, including total VRAM installed,
what troubleshooting steps you have taken so far,
    what error message(s) you receive,
if having issues opening raw files also the exact camera make and model that generated them,
if you're having printing issues, indicate the exact make and model of your printer, paper size, image dimensions in pixels (so many pixels wide by so many pixels high). if going through a RIP, specify that too.
    etc.,
someone may be able to help you (not necessarily this poster, who is not a Windows user).
a screen shot of your settings or of the image could be very helpful too.

Hey Sierra, You can do just what you have stated. My question, what is your "other"? If it is over 1.5 GB you most likely have corrupt files. Doing a Restore to New, Factory restore should correct it. Just make sure you make a full backup of all information on your iPod to your computer before you restore, so you don't lose your stuff, contacts, videos, pictures, non-iTunes music, etc, use the cable and connect with your computer. Then, via cable, connect to your computer, run the Restore to new, don't use your backup. Treat this iPod as if it was your first one ever. When restore is done, set up and add what info you wish to install on this iPod. The music apps etc you purchased should be on your computer, if not you should be able to retrieve purchased apps and music from iTunes. Any music, videos, apps not purchased from iTunes will be lost to you if you do not save them to your computer or the cloud first. When your done, make a current Backup and you should good to go. Hope this helps. Good luck. Cheers.

  • Photoshop CS3 .png format not appearing in the "Save As" drop down?

I have been searching all over the internet and forums like this for a solution but have not come across one that works. I have tried installing an update for .png 8 bit and replacing the .png format file entirely, and to no avail. I'm sure all updates are there for my Photoshop CS3 because I just had my lap top worked on and they had to re-add my CS3, so I think that if any updates were needed they would have done that. I have worked with programs like Photoshop for awhile now but I do not know to much about it's inner workers (files, etc.) so I am not sure what the problem is, and I really need this fixed ASAP. I am working on work and I need that .png format. I can't do without it and .png shows up in the "Save For Web Devices", but I am using trasnparency and it is not doing any justice to my images.
    Windows Vista
    Adobe PhotoShop CS3
15.7 GB free out of 105 GB
I was working on Photoshop all day yesterday - no problem. Today, I can't get .png.

Be very specific:  Does it say 10.0 or 10.0.1?  If the former, I recommend you visit this page and download and install the update:
    http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=3775
    The plug-in should be here:
    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS3\Plug-Ins\File Formats\Png.8bi
It should have a size and date of 98,304 bytes modified on Saturday, October 20, 2007, 8:11:42 AM EST.

  • PDFs saved from Safari won't open in Adobe Reader

PDFs saved from Safari won't open in Adobe Reader - damaged file
    iMac late 2009 8Gb 3.06 Intel Core 2 Duo - Safari 6

I encountered the same problem and tried doing what Suzanne did by right clicking the file and saving it to the computer first and then opening it.
And then after double clicking the saved file windows prompted whether I want to open it with the newly installed Adobe reader 9.0 or with Microsoft Word. I chose the Adobe Reader 9.0 and clicked on the check box asking whether we always want to open this type of file using this program.
I managed to open the file and best of all is after that I was able to directly double click on the pdf email attachments to open it.
Seems like that we need to let windows associate the file type with the program first.

  • How do I maintain column formatting when converting from PDF to Excel?

How do I maintain column formatting when converting from PDF to Excel? All info is no longer on the lines or in the columns they started out being in? Any help would be appreciated.

    Sara,
Perhaps I am expecting too much from Adobe ExportPDF. The reason I subscribed to this service, for which I pay a yearly fee, was that I need a way to  convert scanned and digital documents to Word &/or Excel. I read the link you included but to be candid the more I tried to understand what was written the more confused I got. The process should not be this difficult. Currently I am using a NEAT scanner to create PDF documents of whatever I scan. After I changed the OCR setting on Adobe ExportPDF the output was much better but not to the point it was usable as it was. Information that appears to be lines and columns are sometimes not recognizing two columns and just putting them together in one. Obviously not usable. The other thing it does is bunch numbers that appear in a column that are just a bunch of numbers that I have no way of fixing.
Please let me speak to someone who can help me. Right now I not getting anything of value in my paid subscription.

    Hi,
I am having similar problems. I have read somewhere that png format can not handle CMYK colorspace anyway, which I find odd (and plainly stupid IM(NS)HO) which would mean that converting to RGB and therefore using profiles is mandatory.
May be you should check if the internal format of the png files claims it is RGB or CMYK (using ImageMagick's "identify" command for example).
