Saving a file as JPEG at 900PPI

Printer needs file saving at 900 PPI in JPEG format.
Do I have to make sure the "effective PPI" of the photos are 900 PPI?
When I export the JPEG do i have to set the resolution at 900 PPI? And how do i set the "format method"?

Do I have to make sure the "effective PPI" of the photos are 900 PPI?
If the photos have an effective res of less than 900 they will be sampled up to 900 on jpeg export. For print you would use baseline.

    Hi
I am running a stand-alone version of Framemaket 10.I try to convert a documentation with a lot of screenshots in it. Regardless of the settings on the Reference pages of the first document of the book, Framemaker converts all graphic files to *.gif, and these are downsized so much that they become illegible. I would like to have them converted to JPG, with little resolution loss, so they are still readable.

  • Trouble saving illustrator files as jpeg.

Before CS3 came along it was possible to save ai files as jpeg directly in the program. Now that option is no longer possible. How can one save illustrator files as jpeg. Can anyone help please?

This is user error…you could never save an Illustrator file as jpeg you can only save Illustrator files as templates, ai file, pdf, eps, svg and fxg.
fxg I belive is relatively recent.
However the answer to what you want to do is the same as it has been for a very long time.
    File >Export>Format>Jpeg
    All is well once again.

  • Saving ai file as jpeg

when saving an ai A4 size file as a jpeg, the resulting jpeg turns out to be a lot wider, producing a large white border.
what can i do to stop this

You have enabled Bleed and/ or something is not right with your artboards. Anyway, ask in the AI forum and provide more details - version info, system info, export settings used etc.

  • Strange size change when saving ai file as jpeg

    Greetings all!
I have a quick question (I believe!). I have a couple of images that I am saving as jpeg files. So, I have noted that today only (it worked fine yesterday) when I go to save the file to web, the size of the image changes from 400 px high to 430 px high. I didn't select anything to make each file change like that. There is a white area at the top of the image (which isn't good 4 my image). When I reduce the size of the jpeg - it reduces the image (so the white area remains).
Does anyone have a suggestion? This has happened with more than one image.
    Thanks 4 your help, Marty

If you have images to convert to jpg, use photoshop instead.
If the white are on top is 30 pixels, then you must have a stray point in your document or something that is not visible, but adds to the bounding box of your image. Do a Command Y in illustrator to see if something is there. Also if you are placing images into Illustrator, your original image may have a clipping path or something that is adding to your bounding box.

  • Editing and saving RAW files as JPEGs

    Hi there
I'm using Windows XP with PE5.
I don't know if this is a PE5 or my PC problem. I shoot using (Canon) RAW format. These pics I then edit and save in either PNG or TIFF. However, I don't seem able to "save as" JPEG (from PNG or TIFF) in that when I select "save as" I do not get the JPEG option in the drop down list of available file types.
I originally got an error message stating "PE5 was either in use or there is an error on the hard drive". PE5 was definitely not in use elsewhere.
According to the PC's manufacturers tech support team, I will have to restore the PC which obviously I wish to avoid!!!
Can anyone help with this please?

The JPEG format does not support 16 bit images. You need to convert to 8 bit first.

  • Saving Excel file as JPEG or BMP image

    Hi,
i need a solution how to save an Excel file as jpg or bmp format. Please help me out in this. it is very urgent. i am passing an Excel file as input and it should be converted into a image.
    Thanks,
    chandras.

    Hi,
I tried in google. i used POI. But i didnot get.Your Google skills aren't very good, then. I typed "convert excel to bmp" into Google and got a whole lot of programs and services that say they can do it. Probably the idea that it's urgent is preventing your brain from working properly. Try to not panic.

  • Saving files in .jpeg - Photoshop Elements 10

I suddenly got problems with saving files in .jpeg format. I use camera raw in my camera, and edit photos in Element, and then save a .jpeg version of the photo, and until recently that operation has went on without problems, but suddenly I got no other alternatives than .psd. Why?

    Hi,
Most likely reason is that the image is in 16 bit format not 8 bit - a JPG can only support 8 bit formats.
Try changing the mode: Image -> Mode -> 8 bits/channel
If you use RAW images, you can set the colour depth when yo first open the image (see center of window at the bottom).

  • Problem saving files as JPEGs after editing them as CR2 files

I took some photos in RAW format and used Photoshop CS2 to make my lighting adjustments (in the Photoshop RAW viewer). For most photos, I just clicked the "Save" button, and I had the option to convert and save the file as JPEG, TIFF, etc. But I had some additional changes to make in Photoshop using layers, so I clicked "Open" first before saving, and worked in the general Photoshop window. But after making my changes, I clicked "Save as" and the long list of file options to choose from was no longer there, and I only had the option of saving the file as: Photoshop, Cineon, Large Document Format, Photoshop PDF, Photoshop Raw, PNG, TIFF. I really need to save it as a JPEG, but it is not one of the options. I have flattened all the layers, and am working in RGB color mode.
If anyone could help me understand why I can't save this as a JPEG, I would really appreciate it! Thanks!

Convert the files from 16 bit to 8 bit and you be able to save your jpeg.

  • Saving raw file as a jpeg

I recently got a new computer and loaded photosop CS2 and elements4 on it. Unlike my old computer the raw plug in opens in elements it used to open in CS2. This in itself is not a problem however I dont seem to have the option of saving a file as a jpeg as I used to. All it will save it as is a DNG which is useless for what i need. It used to be so simple before. Would appreciate any help or advice but please dont make it too technical as I really am a computer numpty.

Just a shot in the dark, as I don't use either Windows or Elements:
ACR is crippled in Elementsin more ways than one. Try clicking on the Open button, rather than Save, then save in Elements as a JPEG.
You can (and should) change your File Type Associations in Windows so that ACR is hosted by Photoshop instead of Elements.

  • Saving large tiff files as jpeg

    Hello, experts:
I scanned, as a tiff file, a full-centre spread of a large newpaper. This had to be scanned in eight sections, the pages were so big on my A4 scanner window. When I joined all the sections up in Photoshop CS5, the size of the file was huge (about 21 inches by about 19 inches) It is also digitally large (about 320 MB, since the resolution is 300 dpi). Because I want to keep the composite photo but don't want the file to be so digitally large, yet need the good resolution, I thought it would be a good idea to save it as a jpeg file, which would give me the dimensions I need but not be so digitally bulky as the original. On pressing the drop-down menu for Saving As, the jpeg option did not appear in the dialogue box. Why is this, and how may I save the file in jpeg format? With grateful thanks to any/all that can offer a helpful response,
    True to form

Curt, I'm very appreciative of the help you have given so far. However, I did try to change the image to an 8-bit as you recommended, and, though it is possible to make this change, and thereby reduce the sheer amount of data in the photo, when I click to choose 8-bit, the picture goes all bright and weird. This is because when I click on 8-bit, a window also arises, called HDR toning. In this window are lots of sliders, and, try as I may, it does not seem to be possible to adjust anything to make the picture normal in appearance. If you have any useful comment on what to do to make the picture like it is before the change to 8-bit, I should be glad to hear it. Thanks in anticipation.

  • Saving a file in jpg max resolution (12) PH cc

    Hi there,
Recently I've changed my laptop and re-installing Photoshop CC in its last version.
When I gonna save a file as JPG automatically it gives me back "8" like quality of image and not "12" . In the other Mac it gives me back all the times 12 and there's no problem to do mistakes saving a file.
Is there a change to do into sets-up ?
    Mac user.
    Cheers
    Mattia

A workaround is to use File->Save As...->Change the file type to JPG->Save, a JPEG options window should come up, just move the slider to the far right, or type in 12 into the box to the right of the slider.

It's the level of compression. Lower number, more aggressive compression, more visual artifacts.
Aside from that you should never use jpeg as a working format. The compression is destructive and cumulative, and the file deteriorates every time you resave it.
Use TIFF or PSD, and if you need jpeg save out a copy as a single final step.

  • Why is one TIFF pixelated when saving .pages file as .doc?

Hi, when I save my Pages file as Word '.doc' format (using the standard 'save copy as' method, OR exporting as .doc) one of the high resolution TIFFs in the file always shows up pixelated, the other is sharp.
Do you know why one TIFF would be pixelated, and how to get them both showing sharp after saving the file as a Word .doc?
Both TIFFs are 300dpi CMYK, but are different sizes (the sharp one is smaller).
    Thanks!

when I save my Pages file as Word '.doc' format (using the standard 'save copy as' method, OR exporting as .doc) one of the high resolution TIFFs in the file ... Both TIFFs are 300dpi CMYK, but are different sizes
The thing is that .DOC is the file format for versions of Microsoft Word which were developed to work with the Windows GDI Graphics Device Interface, the counterpart of QuickDraw in Mac OS 9.2 and lower.
Neither GDI nor QuickDraw are capable of colourant formats other than RGB. There are tried and true ways around this in prepress,
    1. do not pick TIFF, JPEG, PICT or BMP file formats that are processed by GDI and QuickDraw, but pick a file format that is not processed by GDI and QuickDraw (EPS, PDF).
    2. pick a colour managed path through GDI and QuickDraw so that CMYK tagged with a source ICC colour space is converted into some form of colour managed RGB which in turn can be converted back into some form of colour managed CMYK for whatever printing condition is to be chosen (whether by a third party driver installed in the OS or by other means).
There are other possibilities, as Peter mentioned, but transparency isn't supported in GDI and DOC any more than CMYK is supported. And to go back to the beginning, why in the world are you trying to work in CMYK when you in all likelihood have no knowledge of the ink limit, graybalance and paper for the intended printing condition? You should be working in ICC colour managed RGB.
