Saving a Fillable Form

I have developed a LC designer version 8 form and saved it as .pdf. I am trying to grant user rights in Adobe8 prof, and getting error message - "This document could not be reader enabled". I want our users to complete the form and save the form via Acrobat reader. Can someone help?

Can you post the form to [email protected] and I will try it here. I only have Acrobat version 9 so I will try on that one.

  • Saving a fillable form in Adobe 7.0 Reader

    Hi,
    I created a fillable form in LiveCycle, and distributed through the company.
    If other people read it with adobe 7.0 reader they are unable to save it with the data still in it what am I missing, I have tried changing the security settings within the document but still no joy !!!!
    Can anyone help.

    Rebecca - Dave's reply was missing an answer to your question: "Everybody that receives it buys Acrobat 8"? No, those using the forms DO NOT need to have Acrobat Professional 8. Usually one person (such as yourself), has Acrobat 8 and enables the rights on those forms created (there is actually a selection to do this). Once the form is enabled, anyone who simply has Reader can fill in and save a form.
    Hope this helps!

  • Saving a Fillable Form PDF in Illustrator

    I have a fillable form field PDF that I need to open in illustrator, edit(insert artwork), save as, and have it still have the fillable form feilds in reader and acrobat.
    Thanks!

    Once you have edited the artwork re-save as pdf. Open your fillable form field pdf and choose Document - "replace form". Choose the NEW pdf and you should have the old fields with the new artwork.

  • Time and Date when saving a fillable form

    I have created an order form for my company and I am having problems with creating a java script that will put the Date and Time at the top of the form only when it is saved. How would I go about this I have tried a few different scripts with no avail.
    var ft = this.getField("Time_Saved");
    ft.value = util.printd("HH MM ss", new Time());
    var oNow = new Date();
    var sSubDate = util.printd("mmm dd, yyyy", oNow );
    this.getField("Invoice_Date").value = sSubDate;
    // var f = this.getField("DatePrinted"); // field object
    // f.display = display.noView; // only print the field
    // f.value = "Printed on: " + util.printd("mmm dd, yyyy", new Date()); // // set the value of the field
    // get the current date/time object
    var oNow = new Date();
    // create date time sring for sumbission
    var sSubDate = util.printd("dd/mmm/yyyy h:mm tt", oNow);
    // fillin field for date and time of sumission
    this.getField("SubmitDate").value = sSubDate;
    If someone is able to help me though this that would be great more or less what am i doing wrong?

    A week? You should really try to learn a bit more core JavaScript if you plan to create more such scripts... Also, make sure you tick on the option in Acrobat to show the console on errors and warnings. You should see there something like this (when running the old code):
    ReferenceError: Time is not defined
    This immediately lets you know that something with that line is not correct...

  • Need to allow saving of fillable form

    Please, someone help!  I designed a form in Livecycle and after saving it, it worked fine here at the house.  I took it to work, and it stated that I couldn't save it.  I read about allowing rights on one of these Adobe pages, but the instructions for enabling rights didn't apply to Adobe "X" Pro (version 10).  What tabs and what commands must I use to give full rights to the file?
    Thanks ahead of time for any assistance that may be provided.

    Bobby answered the question, but you should ask about the need for saving the form. If the data is to be submitted, saving the form is not required for that option (data only). The data can then be imported into the form to get the same results. If you do the activation, be sure you read the EULA as there is a restriction on the number of submissions of the form (or its reincarnations). If it is for the web, then I would not recommend the activation. The user can always print the form if you allow that option.

  • Fillable Forms Created with Adobe LiveCycle Designer 7.0

    I created a fillable form using Adobe LiveCycle Designer 7.0. Prior to using the form for clients we sent it around to numerous people to make sure it's working properly. We have experienced problems with users that are using older versions of Reader or full versions of Acrobat (5.0 & 6.0). Some problems we have had:
    1.) We understand you cannot save the filled out form in older versions, but some users are not even able to print the form (the program shuts down). When the form is opened in an older version it lets the user know that they cannot save the form and it must be printed if they need a copy, but we had one user using version Acrobat version 7.0 that received this message.
    2.) Users with full versions of Acrobat 7.0 have been able to fill out the form and save it, but when the form gets back to us it is blank.
    3.) Users with Acrobat and Reader 7.0 cannot use the print button, it just does not work.
    We were looking to see if there is a way of saving a fillable form down to an older version to see if this can solve our problem. I have not had any luck finding out how to do that. If anyone knows how to do this could you let me know? If not I guess we will go back to the old fashioned way of having the user print the form and fill it out.
    Thank you!

    I'm actually having the exact same problem. I imported a form into Designer 7.0 as an Adobe Reader 6.0 "compatible" form. At first, there were several warning messages in various fields but I changed all of these fields so that they would be compatible. The form works in 6.0, however, whenever a user initially opens the form in 6.0 a message pops up promting the user to upgrade to 7.0 for the form to work. Over half of our users are running Adobe Reader 6.0 so any information on how to prevent this dialouge from coming up would be very appreciated.
    Thank you,
    Jeff

  • How do I NOT allow a PDF Fillable form I've created to be saved?

    I just got XI Pro ... I've never had a pro version before.  A co-worker who has used pro for ages (but has an older version) showed me how to make it so that a PDF filled form could be saved by another user.  However, in the version I have it seems that the ability for another user to save a PDF filled form is automatic ... I can't figure out how to shut it off.
    Our PDF fillable forms will be on our website, but we DO NOT WANT a user to be able to save the filled or the blank form.  Looking for a PRINT-ONLY option once it's been filled out.
    Anyone have any ideas??
    Thanks!

    This was recent;y discussed here: http://forums.adobe.com/message/5881211
    There was a major change made with Reader 11 that allows it to save filled-in forms, add all sorts of comments/markups, and some other things without the document needing to be Reader-enabled, unlike all previous versions. This is what you're noticing. So the best you can do is attempt to clear the fields when the document is saved and/or when it's opened.

  • Selectable map not saved in fillable PDF form file

    Hi all, I have a problem with a document (it's a book for children) which has been created using InDesign CS6 on Macintosh. I need to make a fillable form (which is not a problem) and I have applied the "Extended Features for Acrobat Reader". I guess the client uses Acrobat Reader for Windows.
    The problem comes when the client asks me to include a map where the pupils can select the countries, and that I have solved using buttons that show/hide these countries. It works fine, but when the client fills the form and saves the document, the map doesn't save the selected fields.
    How can I make it work properly? I also tried creating a "SAVE MAP" button, but unfortunately, Acrobat only applies this feature to the current state when I create the document, NOT when the client clicks on this "SAVE MAP" button. Is there another solution, please?
    And there's still more... In another page, the pupils must select 5 words, and the problem remains the same... the selected fields are not saved.
    I hope I've explained myself correctly, I know it's a bit confusing.
    Thanks in advance!!

    If you will be adding up the mileage reimbursement amounts you might need to round the result of the calculation to 2 decimal places and that will require a custom JavaScript calculation. Using unrounded values can result with an answer that does not add up to the displayed value.
    Using the simplified field notation also requires that field names meet a very specific format. The field names need to start with an alphabetic character and it cannot have any white space character in the name unless some additional coding is done. These restrictions are a result of processing the formula string with JavaScript and how the data string is parsed for processing.

  • When creating a fillable form and saving it as a pdf, the default color of the data fields is a light blue. How do I change the color to something else that will copy better, e.g. a light yellow?

    It's probably the fields highlight color of the application, which you can change via Edit - Preferences - Forms.

  • Fillable Forms to be saved as non fillable after filled

    I need to distribute a fillable form to committee members to fill out. They then need to save these as non-fillable or normal? pdfs for passing on to non committee members.
    I have created awesome forms that are reader extended but have no way to save these forms as non fillable. Print to .pdf? There has to be a more elegant solution

    Hi Rahatawa,
    How was the form created, if the form was created using LiveCycle Designer: Saving Fillable Form as non-fillable PDF
    And if is Acrobat form, you may try suggestion from this link: How to "flatten" a pdf in Adobe Acrobat X Pro, Under print production, under tool in Acrobat--> Flattener preview. Also, ::Form Field Flattening in Acrobat X

  • Create a fillable form that can be saved by others

    Hi, I'm working in Adobe Acrobat X Pro, I'm on a PC
    I know that you go to File>Save As...>Reader extended pdf>
    After that I get "Enable Adding Text in Documents (that are not fillable form)...
    I then get a form that is using a "typewriter" tool." That's not what I want.  I want a fillable form that can be saved by the person filling out the form and not have to use the typewriter tool.  I don't like the way that looks or works.  I hope there is someone that can help.  I used to be able to do this and don't understand what has changed.
    Thanks!

    Advanced > Enable Usage Rights in Adobe Reader
    Yes, it will allow pre-11 Reader users to save.

  • Saving fillable forms

    I have tried to create an electronic version of a paper manual that uses fillable forms for parents to keep track of their child's healthcare records.  I know how to create the forms as fillable forms, but I'm not sure how to get them to be "saveable" so that parents can reopen them with the information saved i the forms.  I have tried using save as but it doesn't seem to work.  Am I missing a step or is this not possible at all?

    Thanks George.  I don't think I gave enough information.  I have Acrobat 8.  I have grouped the chapters of the manual into sections.  Not all the pages are fillable if that makes a difference.  When I follow your instructions for Acrobat 9, I choose "enable usage rights in adobe reader".  I select it under the advanced tab. I get a message "This document contains attachments.  Reader features will only be enabled for the main doc, not for any attached files".    I tried testing the document to see if I fill the document with information and use 'save package as" under the file menu or "save as" under the options menu , but neither seemed to work. It did work for me once, but have been unable to replicate.  What am I doing wrong!  Thanks for any help you can give me!

  • Fillable forms saving blank

    I have Adobe Standard and created a fillable form.  When some people try and save this doc, it only saves as the blank form and not what they had filled in.  Why is this happening?

    Was this form saved as a Reader Extended PDF (Enable Additional Features)?

  • My newly created fillable form is not saving the data input by applicant

    I have created a fillable form from a word document using Acrobat XI. This has been uploaded to our careers website, however, feedback from some applicants is that have completed this rather detailed application form they are unable to save the newly input information and thus when the forms come back to us they are blank.  Is there a setting that I should have applied to prevent this from happening?

    It sounds like the users with the problem are using Adobe Reader older the version XI. For those users the form requires Extended Form Rights be applied tot he PDF form by you before they can save the from.
