Saving a photo in jpeg instead of tiff (full size)

Hi,
Hi have photoshop CS4 and can't save a photo in jpeg untiless i make the photo size smaller and click on "save for web & devices".
I can save it in a tiff, but a lot of printing companies don't accept this and a tiff is really heavy so it makes it hard to save all the images on a dvd.
I want to be able to safe my photo's right away in Jpeg, in the original size without having to jump through hoops with other programs to get this done.
How do I do this or is this a feature photoshop CS4 doesn't have?
and I can't find an e-mail address of adobe anywhere, only phone numbers.
Does anybody have a support e-mail address from adobe?
Thanks

Clearly they don't have the requirements you do.
There's nothing wrong with saving JPEGs.  I happen to need them all the time as well, and prior to getting CS5 I always found myself changing the mode to 8 bits, saving as JPEG, then (if I remembered) going back in the history to where the document was 16 bits.
When I asked about saving PSD files I didn't realize you needed JPEGs for specific purposes.

  • Saving edited photos in jpeg

I use Element 9. I am not alowed the option on the drop down list to select jpeg when saving edited photos. Please help!

Make sure the image is not 16 bits/channel and not bitmap or indexed color.
    Image>Mode
Usually RGB Color and 8 bits/channel is the norm for saving as a jpeg.
Also if your document has layers (jpeg doesn't support layers) you would need to flatten the photo before being able to save as a jpeg.
If you want to keep the layers use a format such as psd or tif.

  • Converting PDF to JPEG--tiny file, not full size image.

    using photoshop cs3
End result is I want a jpeg of the same size as original. here is what i do and what happens.
open pdf in photoshop; save as "jpeg"
jpeg shrinks to an inch wide, from an original 8.5 inches.
I've tried saving with compression off, saving pdf in various formats, nothing seems to work and my jpegs always save out very tiny.
any help would be appreciated! thanks.

I opened the file I attached to my mail in Photoshop and that's when it went small. I just looked on Apple forum and found a little button on the bottom right that was compressing the file. I hit "actual size" and have fixed the problem.
It was a Mail problem, (or my problem:) not Photoshop or PDF.
Thanks for your time and response...

  • Saving a modified PDF file making desktop window full size

I am running Acrobat Pro 9.5.5 and suddenly have a problem running Windows 7. When I invoke the SAVEAS command, a window opens up on my desktop to navigate what to call and where to store the file. The problem is now the window is full screen with no way to reduced the size of the window. The usual windows options for sizing in the upper right hand corner are gone.
Any direction on how to fix this would be greaty appreciated.

Are you able to right-click on the very top of the dialog and select "size"?

  • Can Prelude use the MXF preview files instead of the full size files?

It takes forever to load and view my full size MXF files from an XDCamHD disk. (It can also cause Prelude to crash)  It seems like it would be very helpful to be able to view the tiny preview files contained in the "Sub" folder.  You could quickly review your media, decide which files to transfer and then do so with the originals.  Has anyone been able to see those files in the Prelude Ingest window?  I only see the file icon, not the video media.
I had been using the Sony XDCam Transfer App with Final Cut, but am now trying to create a better workflow all inside Adobe software.

    Hi AEDave -
    Thanks for your post.
Wanted to share that we have been working on the performance with the XDCAM optical disc thumbnail load times (as well as other performance enhancements for this format). We are seeing a nice improvement on that front in our recent testing. And as Wes mentioned above we are also looking into how to best handle the proxy files the camera generates as well. Just wanted you to know we have improvements in the works for your workflow!

  • Problem saving edited photos in iPhoto

    HI
When editing in iphoto the changes I have done are not saved correctly. If I select a photo then choose 'edit -> enhance -> done' everything is saved as expected even when losing edit-view BUT if I try to edit in another way for example 'edit-> adjust' and then changes the 'shadows' settings manually and press 'done' the changes are not saved. When selecting the edited photo to to watch it in full-size or even as the icon size (i.e. how every photo appears in each Event before being clicked on) the photo shows up unedited. I have to chose the edit-view to see the changes I have done.

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Delete the contents of the User/LIbrary/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder, launch iPhoto and try again. If still no go create a new test library, import a couple of photos and try your editing there.
If the new library works as it should then the problem lies in your original library. If it doesn't work then more tests are indicated.
Log into another user account on your Mac and try the editing there. If it doesn't work there then a reinstall of iPhoto is indicated. To do so you'll have to first delete the current application and all files with "iPhoto" in the file name with either a .PKG or .BOM extension that reside in the HD/Library/Receipts folder, reinstall iPhoto from the disk it came on and reapply the latest updaters.
It the editing works in the other account then the problem lies in your user account. It could be a preference file other than iPhoto's. Here's how to determine if that's the case:
Trouble Shooting Preferences in Leopard/Snow Leopard
1 - Create a folder titled "Preferences A" on the Desktop.
2 - Open the working Preferences folder, HD/Users/your_name/Library/Preferences, and move the contents to the Preferences A folder on the Desktop.
3 - With the working Preferences folder empty run the application again and determine if the problems is fixed.
NOTE: you may have to drag the contents of the working folder to the trash and empty if moving the contents to the A folder only copies them instead of moving.
4 - If the problem is fixed:
A - open the working Preferences folder (HD/Users/your_name/Library/Preferences).
B - Open the Preferences A folder on the Desktop, select all of the contents and drag them into the working Preferences folder.
C - When the Copy window pops up check the "Apply to All" check box and then click on the Don't Replace button.
5 - If the problem is NOT fixed, empty the working Preferencess folder and move the contents of the Preferences folder on the desktop back into it.

  • Why does my iPhone show some photos full size and some scaled?

    Hi,
I have got a collection of DVDs and syncronized a folder with all cover pictures to my iPhone 5.
When looking at them with the "photo" app, some covers are shown full-size, some are
shown scaled. The scaled ones are shown at maximum height, so that I don't see the
whole cover on the 16:9 screen.
All covers are JPG having a similar size (760x1080px), with no EXIF/IPTC tags and
different dpi (tried different settings but saw no change).
Does anyone know, how the iPhone decides to show pictures scaled or not?
    Thanks for a hint, regards
    Christian

  • Why are photos save as .jpeg instead of .jpg?  Can this be corrected?

Why are photos save as .jpeg instead of .jpg?  Can this be corrected?  In certain applications I have to manually change the ending so that the application can open the photo.  Is there a setting to control to correct this?

When I mail photos (via GMail) from my iPhone they are received on my PC as .jpg files, even if sent at full resolution.  Perhaps your e-mail service has imposed an attachment size limit, and in the process scales the attached picture down and alters the file extension?
What happens if you e-mail a photo from your iPhone and open the message from a PC instead of the Surface?  What e-mail service are you using? (e.g. your ISP's service, or Yahoo, Gmail, iCloud, etc.)  When you send the photo from your iPhone, are you selecting a reduced resolution?

  • How do I accomplish saving a panoramic photo in JPEG?

I recently purchased Adobe Photoshop Elements 9 and subsequently installed the software on my Mac.  I took seven images and merged them into a panoramic photo.  I wanted to save the panoramic photo into JPEG format and then store the photo in Adobe Elements 9 Organizer for use as an attachment in an email message.  I was able to save the panoramic photo in JPEG, but could not accomplish storing it in Adobe elements 9 Organizer.  Additionally, in the photo I did save in JPEG, the image was not independent of the Adobe Photoshop Elements 9 software.  In other words, when opened, it appeared in the project bin.  Does anyone know what I was doiing wrong?  Was the panoramic photo image too large?

Any opened photo is in the project bin, so I'm not sure what you see as a problem there. As for the organizer, I'm guessing the problem is that you had to save as a copy to get rid of the layers? If you don't want to do this, merge the layers before saving. Note that you'll lose them permanently if you do this, but it's up to you--have to reimport the jpeg as a new image or else trade layers for convenience.

What color profiles is the scan? It must be RGB (sRGB is recommended) for iPhoto

  • Help with saving a photo

How can I save a photo  as 1920X1920 pixels when the photo isn't square?  This photo must be saved as baseline standard JPEG.  File size must be < 1.8 mb.  Color space should be saved in RGB color space preferablySRGB

Set the color profile first: Image -> Convert Color Profile -> Covert to sRGB
In order to save with those dimensions, the image must be cropped first.  However, the crop tool uses inches or cm instead of straight pixels.  To get the desired size:  Go to Image -> Resize -> Image Size, enter 1920 as one of the pixel dimensions and note the resulting inch/cm measurement.  Cancel this screen and click on the crop tool.  The aspect ratio should be set to 'Custom', enter the inch equivalent of 1920 pixels for both the width and the height and crop the image with a resolution of 72 pixels/inch.
Save the file: File -> Save For Web... (because this will give you the smallest file sizes)  On the right, make sure the file type is set to JPEG (the default is GIF) and reset the pixel dimensions to 1920 and hit apply (it automatically adjusts the sizes for website which usually require dimensions under 1000).  The file size displays under the preview along with approximate load times.  Click okay and save the file where you want it.
It would probably be helpful to read up on how to set your workspace to default to sRGB in order to save time if you're doing this a lot.
I hope this answers your question.

  • HP Scan 1 bit scan to pdf embeds images as jpeg rather than tiff

Using HP Scan (latest version to date of 32.30.198.49673) and scanning in 'Black and White' to PDF (not 'Searchable PDF'), the image is embedded into the PDF as a jpeg (!!!), which means that the file is much larger than it needs to be, as it could go in as a lossless 1 bit tiff file. The image in the PDF looks like a 1 bit image, but 1 bit jpegs do not exist of course.
So, on a medium high image quality setting I get a file size (for a particular document) of 546KB, whereas the same scan to 1 bit tiff (on the same device with using HP scan) is 36kB (15 times smaller)
To be sure that it was embedding the scanned image as a jpeg instead of a tiff I set the file quality to low and you could see the jpeg compression artifacts which were a mixture of greys - thereby proving that it was a greyscale jpeg (of course, 1 bit jpegs don't exist), even though, visually, it looks just like a 1 bit scan in all other ways.
How can I get HP Scan, when I choose 'Black and White' to 'PDF', to embed the image as a 1 bit Tiff file, rather than a greyscale jpeg? I don't really want to store a file that is 15 times bigger in file size than it needs to be.
    Thanks,
    Mark

    Hello @markp4000,
    Welcome to the HP forums.
I understand that you would like the images saved as a .tiff instead of a .jpeg, when you scan to PDF.
Unfortunately there is no option to change how HP's software creates the PDFs.
You will most likely need 3rd party software to optimize your scanning results.

  • Saving RAW edits as JPEG - is it okay if...?

Just wanted to get some expert opinion on whether saving RAW edits as JPEG is advisable.
I understand that every time you save a JPEG, there is some loss/degradation, whereas TIFF is loss less. However, given the huge size of TIFF tiles, my thinking is that saving them as JPEG is okay as long as if I want to make subsequent edits, I revert to the original (RAW) and re-do the edits.
Is there any downside to this logic?

iPhoto does not keep resaving the same JPG over and over. Instead it applies the new edits to the original file and recreates a new JPG. So no matter how many times you edit the file, you are only one generation removed from the RAW file.
iPhoto keeps tracks of your edits in a list and reapplies them when you open the file to view.
