Saving a Query View

Hi,
In my reports when I am doing a SAVE AS and saving the query view on Favorites, it is saving. But when i hit open and try to open the Saved view it is taking me back to the variable selection screen. Only after entering the variables is it showing the view. This was not happening earlier, when i used to hit open and click on the view it would open the saved view right there. How can I fix this problem, please advise,
Thanks
Rashmi.

Please check the property of query, you will find a check box for refesh data when open the query.
If you select the box, the system will automatically refresh the data from server when you open a query / view. The system will pop up the variable screen for var. entering.
If it is not selected, i am wandering that the system will not pop up the var. screen and show you the report directly. But the data won't update.

  • Error while saving a query view

    Hi All,
I am trying to save a query view in my favourites and it is failing with below message:
Namespace '/BIC/' must be set to 'changeable' (transaction SE06)
I have created many query view so far, this issue has just started. Could you please help us with this, as it is very urgent.
    Thanks and regards,
    Shashidhar.

    Hi,
Please set the setting as described in note 337950, it will help to fix the issue.
    solution:
    Releasing the object changeability
This setting is only intended for production or test systems that are
set to not changeable. It is not suitable for development systems.  For
this reason, this setting is only effective if at least one of the
conditions specified under 'Cause and prerequisites' is met.
Go to the Administrator Workbench (Data Warehousing Workbench,
transaction RSA1) -> 'Goto' -> 'Transport Connection' and choose 'Object
Changeability'. To display the function, you may have to enlarge the
window or press the arrow keys nearby.
In the following dialog box you can select the object types that you
want to be changeable, even though the system is set to not changeable.
These objects are not connected to the transport system; this means that
no transport dialog boxes are displayed. This only applies, however, if
the preconditions mentioned under 'Cause and prerequisites' are met.
First, after releasing an object type, only objects that are original,
that is, those that were created in this system  can be changed. This
prevents changes to objects that were imported into the system. However,
changes to these objects may be overwritten again during a new
    transport.
You can set all objects to changeable (even the ones imported into the
system) using the context menu (right mouse button), although this
setting is not recommended for the reasons mentioned above.
    Thanks,
    Venkat

  • Query View name not saved in "Analysis Grid Properties" under Data Provider

    Hi BW World;)
    We are on BI 7.0
I have created a BI workbook which contains a query view.
However when we go into design mode and then "analysis grid properties" for this query view then "change data provider" it does not show the query view name but the query name. (we have saved the workbook)
    Is this the normal scenario?
Surely should show the "query view name " and not the "query name" as confuses what data provider is being used?
    Is this a bug?
    Best
Stevo.... Points of course... Thanks in advance.;)

    Hi,
You have created a workbook on top of a Query View which is again depends on a Query. Now the base for Query View is a Query. So the underlying Data Provider for a workbook is a Query.
Hence when you go to Properties of grid->Change Data Provider,it shows the Query and the InfoCube, but not the Query View.
So this is not a bug and this how its been designed.
If you click for the Information of that workbook,it will show the Query and Info Provider, but not the query View.
Though it looks like wierd,it is not a bug.

  • Diff Between Saved Query Views and Work Books

    Hi..
Can some one explain me the diff betwen Saved Query views and Workbooks interms of their use, and operation..
    thanks..
    kishore

    hi kishore,
We use workbooks for excel formating, like font changes, lay out changes etc...
Workbooks into which queries are inserted are no different in appearance than other Excel workbooks.
They can be saved as files, copied, sent and (using Excel functions) edited however you like and even supplemented with other data.
Views are primarily used for BW Web Reports, it is similar to the concept of workbooks is for BEx.A local view can be accessed only within a workbook in which it was saved, where as a global view can be accessed globally in the system, it is not attached to a workbook. Only Global view can be used in BW Web Templates.
u can seee the help doc for more details:

  • Create A Query View!

    Hi ALL
how to create a Query View for TeMplates?????
    Thanks
    BI Learner

    hello,
Query views are saved version of query output with particulr navigational state
The advantages of query views are:
Query views can be used as the data providers when you are creating web templates.
They are also used as jump targets. They are created after you execute the query, from the Save button, you can Save View global, or save as jump target.
They can also be used to  format the query e.g hide some characterictic, display/hide result rows, sorting keyfigures etc.
    Reg migration:
All existing SAP BW 3.x queries can be edited with the SAP NetWeaver 2004s BEx Query Designer without further manual adaptation.
After editing with the SAP NetWeaver 2004s Query Designer, queries cannot be edited with the SAP BW 3.x BEx Query Designer anymore.
Queries created or adapted with the SAP NetWeaver 2004s BEx Query Designer will still appear in the Open Dialog of the SAP BW 3.x Query Designer, but they cannot be opened anymore
    Views:
Query Views that were created before upgrade/migration will still run after a query has been changed with the SAP NetWeaver 2004s BEx Query Designer
In general query views do not need to be migrated

  • How to Create/Modify/Delete a query view from the web template in BI 7.0

    All:
In BW 3.5, the <b>Query Selection View</b>  web item was introduced for users to create a query view to save the navigational state of a query. This web item was also available to modify and delete an existing query view.
The Query Selection View web item <u>does not</u> exist in BI 7.0. I see the drop down web item can be used to display the query views associated to a query.
Can anyone share how to create, modify, save or delete a <b>query view</b> on the web in BI 7.0
    Thanks,
    Kumar

Sanjay, we experienced the same issue. Below are a few pieces of information that may be of help: 1-The Save As button on the 0ANALYZER template saves the query to the portal. From Bex Web or Bex Analyzer, you have no access to these saved views. We created a ZANALYZER copy of the 0ANALYZER template and removed the Save As button. 2- If you right mouse click on any item in the query results grid of Bex Web, you get a small menu. Clicking on the menu item Save View will save the view to BI. You do not have the ability to delete the saved views from Bex Web. However, you can delete them from Bex Analyzer. This was not an option for us since most of our users are using Bex Web. 3- On the same menu, clicking on Bookmark, saves the navigation and also opens the Internet Explorer Favorites maintence window. The navigation is saved as an entry into the users Internet Explorer favorites where they can organize and delete their entries. However, deleting the favorite does not delete the entry for the bookmark in BI. The bookmarks are stored in table RSWR_DATA. Program RSWR_BOOKMARK_REORG can be used to manage the saved bookmarks. We are loading RSWR_DATA into a chracteristic so that we can query the information in order to help us manage it. I hope this helps you and others that appear to be struggling with the issue of saved views in Bex Web.

  • While saving Bex query with Technical name, it says Query already existing

    Hi,
I am facing a problem. While saving a query withy its technical name (for example ZQYZMPR_01), it says that query is already existing. But when I search for the query in all tabs like Favourites, Roles, Infoprovider It is not found.
I also checked a view V_REP_JOIN. In this view I find Query (ZQYZMPR_01) in MODIFIED version.
I want to use my previous query instead of creating new one.
Suggest, how can I retrieve my previous query that I am unable to search for.

    Saurabh
Searching with descriptions may lead to confusion as there may be similar  descriptions to a query but just one technical name.  Check the query 'where used list' you may find answers.
Can you check the query in RSZCOMPDIR ? If the query exist here, it must be there in the system.  Do the search with exact technical name ZQYZMPR_01 or ZQYZMPR*, you should be able to find.  Do not search in specific areas like roles etc..search directly by inputting the tech. name.
Ferdinando - you can delete the query in RSZDELETE transaction.  While doing so, it will prompt for removal from all areas like roles, workbooks etc. Say 'yes' and delete, you will be able to assign the technical name to another query.

  • Creation of Query View

    Hi All,
Can someone pls explain me how to create a query view and what is its importance?
    Thanks in advance.
    Chaitra

    Hi Chaitra,
i dont know which BW version you use but let me explain that for BW 3.5:
1.) Local Views: If you navigate in your BEx workbook - for example you start a query and navigate in Excel - you can save the view state in the BEx workbook. Than this view is a local view stored in the BEx workbook. You can open this views by using the "jump" button in the BEx toolbar.
For example you filter your query by different sales organizations and there are 4 sales orgs available. You can than filter and create a local view for each sales organization.
Its a good way to switch fast between different views within a workbook without many navigation steps. Just a click or link is enough. End users like this.
The view is saved "in the workbook".
Hint: to save use the blue save button in BEx Analyzer.
    2. Global Views: You can navigate within your query in the BEx Analyzer and if you reached a good view state with the filters and the requested drill down you can save the whole view with any settings (query, characteristcs, key figures etc.) as a "global" view. In this case you must save the global view a description and a technical name. Now this view is saved "on the BW server" and any user can open this view by using the open function.
And you can use this global view in the Web Appication Designer as an initial view for tables and charts. There are many more things you can do with it. For example: if you filter for example a special sales org in a global view, than you can use a drop down box (mapped with sales org in web application designer) and the drop down box is pre filtered with this sales org. As you can see global views are important for wen reporting.
Hint: to save use the blue save button in BEx Analyzer.
Global views can be openend in the excel or web.
If you read the online help you will find more useful examples.
    Hope this helps.
    Regards,
    Adem

  • How can I see the Query view created for a different user

    Hi All,
How can a user see the View of a query created for a different user??
I would like some info about how to give access ( if it is a access problem) or tell me the steps to do that.
    Regards, Federico

    Hi all,
Maybe I didn't explain me as i should or maybe you dont know what is a Query View. Lets try again, showing you the steps to open a "Query view".
This way is from Bex Analyzer (Excel)
I open the Bex Analyzer and connect to the system -> Open query -> Under "Type" choose "Query View"...this is just a different view of the original query (more or least columns/rows).
This way is from Bex Web:
Once you open/execute the query, you have a ComboBox to choose the view (previously saved)
The problem that we have is that the views created for a user, can NOT be found by other user. The only user who can is the owner.
Could it be an authorization problem? or is ther any configuration possible to see it?
    Thanks in advance, Federico

  • Deletion of Query View in Web Report

    Hi,
I need to provide the functionality to Delete the Query View in the Web Reports.
Please suggest how this can be done.
I am new to web reporting and any help is highly appreciated.
    Thanks and Regards,
    RajKumar.

    Hi,
We have built a template that is extension of standard template 0ADHOC_TABLE provided by SAP. In our template we have added OPEN view and SAVE view APIs mentioned in SAP documentation to provide the features to open a query view and to save a query view. Now we need to provide a feature to delete a query view functionality to users as there were many old saved views that are no longer relevant and needs to be deleted.
Unfortunately the open view screen that opens does not provide feature to delete the query view.
Request your help on this, how did you provide this feature to the users. what did we miss?
For more clarification, I would speak to you please provide me your contact number.
    Thanks and Regards,

  • Deleting query views in a portal

    Hello BI fans,
I want to add a delete button in a web template to delete a saved query view (based on a query which shows data). Unfortunately there is no default command or instruction for data provider according to the commands LOAD and SAVE_AS.
Can I use SCRIPT_FUNCTION instead of INSTRUCTION to get the necessary functionality? There is a method DELETE_VIEW (CL_RSZ_WWW_DB_INTERFACE). Has anybody an idea to use this method or another idea?
To delete the query views by BEx Analyzer is not a good way for us since the normal user should not use the BEx Analyzer but the portal.
    Thanks in advance

  • Reseting filters in a Query View

I have a query built that has a good bit of logic.
For reporting purposes I'd like to create query views from this one query so I only have to change the logic one place when the user decides they want something tweaked.
I need a view by company, one by responsible person  etc ....
The problem arises that when you create the views the filters are "stuck" at what they were then (which makes the views much less useful).   My main issue is for time.  I want the Calendar Year/Month to be the value of the current closed month (the default value in the variable).  But I want the user to be able to change it <u>after</u> running.
These views will be used in web templates.   I've tried a few things but the closest I've come is to have a button or link that when clicked sets the filter value based on another data provider.   I don't want that -- I want the value reset when the web template opens.  I tried putting the same command in the "Before rendering" of the web template properties but get a stack overflow error
Is there a way to save the navigation state of a query without saving the filter values?  Or is there a way I can reset the filter value in the web template?
    I very frustrated

I am using the new NetWeaver2004s.
We usually just publish the template to the role & have the role in the portal so I'm not sure how to add that parameter in that case.
I tried adding to the end of the URL -- but apparently don't have the right syntax.  What syntax should I use?
I tried checking "Reset Variables to Default" in the web template with no effect
