Saving a template

I would like to be able to write an e-mail and save it as a template. I tried "save as" in the "file" menu but it's not selectable for some reason.
Does anyone know how to make a template to I don't have to re-write or copy and paste from a pages document while having to re-attach the same files, over and over?

Write up your email and then save it as a draft. When you want to use it, select it in the Drafts folder and choose Message > Copy To and select your Drafts folder as the destination. Then double-click on the copy to open it, do any editing or address changes you need, and hit "Send." You can also edit the draft copy or change any of your attachments and resave it to the Drafts folder.

Error in saving Web Templates

I am currently seeing a problem in creating new Web Templates in Web Application Designer in SMD. The error occurs when a Web Template is newly created or when an existing Template is modified but clicking the OK button in the error dialog screen allows you to proceed with saving the template.

Check and make sure BI and Portal connection is configured. Use note 917950 for checking this.
Also make sure you have the latest WAD SP level (Sp 12)

500-Internal server error on saving release template

Hi Team,
I am facing this issue while saving the release template. I have added a new stage in this template, copied another stage to the new one and started editing the values. On saving the template this error is showing, please see the error message screen

If this issue only happened in this current one release template and you cannot reproduce it in another new release template, seems I cannot reproduce this issue in my Release Management 2013 Update 4 environment too. We suggest you create a new release
template instead of this current one.

How do you turn off the "Update Template Files" dialog when saving a template in Dreamweaver?

As the title states I'd like to not have to see the "Update Template Files" dialog when saving a template. I'm not sure what its purpose is other than to annoy as it does not seem to do anything -- selecting update, don't update, any combination of files and or hitting escape appears not to make any difference wrt wheter it updates the pages or not (it does every time).
Any help will be appreciated.

The "more like this" window gave me the answers. No current ability to turn off. I've submitted a request to add this feature.

Help saving Numbers Template created on laptop to multiple IPads by email

I have created numerous templates in numbers that I have saved as templates on my laptop. I need to email these templates to several iPads and save the template as a template that can be chosen.
I have been unsuccessful so far in saving them as a template. All I have been able to accomplish is saving them as a file to be duplicated and renamed. This works but I would like to have a more professional setup for my IPads rather than a workaround.

What actually happens when one deactivates 2010 Solution (saved site template)

I've come to the conclusion that a saved Site Template (Solution) cannot be edited. But I came across some articles that alluded to taking the WSP file off-line and hacking on it. So I went to "Save" it and SP says I have to deactivate it
first. Figuring no one would be trying to create a new site in the next few minutes it would take me to save it, I tried to deactivate it. Then I get the warning that if I deactivate it existing sites spawned from the template will lose functionality.
What are they talking about?

First of all, you should be able to download the solution (wsp) without having to deactivate it.
Second, I've deactivated site template solutions a countless number of times and have never had any issues. Are you referring to the following warning?
Warning: Deactivating this solution turns off the capabilities of this solution. Some parts of this site may no longer function. You may want to check the usage of this solution before deactivating it.
If so, that will not affect the sites created using the template. It's a generic warning for all "Solutions" and in most cases apply to features, web parts etc that gets used in multiple sites and deactivating it would cause it to break its functionality.

Error while saving Web Template in WAD

When i try to save a web template in WAD i get an error masg " Unable to generate history entry" and when i save ok i can see that the templete has been saved wven though i had the error message.I am in BI 7.0.Any idea what this error is and how do i get it resolved

This error comes when your portal configuration is incorrect.
please deploy the support Desk Tool according to the note 937697 and fix the portal configuration.

Error in saving web template

Hi all,
I have added a logo in web template in WAD but when i am clicking on save button in WAD it is showing error "object cannot be processed due to a transport problem".
What is the problem. Please help !!!!

Either you have to close WAD and open it again, so it will recognize the new BEx transport,
or some depenent objects are locked in another transport request. In that case, release both, open a new BEx transport, restart WAD and try saving again.

I'm not sure if you need one -- an AI Template is just an AI file with a different extension. So you should be able to use kAINativeFileFormat, just make sure your newFileName ends with .ait and I think you're good to go. Or, at worst, rename it after its saved out. But try that last

Html page saving as template

My index page (a .html page) wants to save as a template... I
do not want it saved as a template, but the only way I can
apparently save it is to do a "save as" rather than just save.....
If I try to just "save" it goes to the "save as template" screen.

Is it possible to copy saved XLS templates to different users?

Simple question here, yet proving devilish in it's complexity!!
I am working with BEX and have generated several result sets saved as XLS files/templates. (The templates allow me to easily update the criteria every month). I am wondering though, if after I have created the templates, can I copy/send/etc... them to different users? I'm only looking to copy 7 templates each to 6 different users, so it's not a ton of templates, but I don't want to recreate each template for each individual log on. That would take too long and be too much of a PITA.
Any ideas or thoughts on the subject, would be greatly appreciated!!

Hi Joe,
i think you can achieve this but you have to save the templates to the role and not to your favorite. the other users should have access to that role. so that they can open and use those templates.

Saving a Template BOM Item using the oInventoryGenEntry object

I am trying to do a Good Receipt using the DI Object, It always works if the item is not a BOM object but if its a BOM parent I get an error :Item is not set as Inventory Item. The error continues to show me that the problem occurred on an Item that is a child Item of the BOM, This happens especially when the BOM TreeType is Template. According to my understanding, As long as he parent Item of the BOM is set as inventory Item, every item should work fine.
I can't set the child items as Inventory items because they are just components to build the parent Item.
Please help. How can I solve this

Thanks for the insight, how ever, if I do a Goods Receipt direct in SAP Business One, the Item saves nicely and everything works. It even looks as though the BOM child items are not affeted. But when I use the DI object I then get an error, I don't know what the DI Object is doing different from what SB1 is doing.
There is no doubt in my mind that the Template BOM item can be saved with the Goods Receipt because I am doing it direct in SBO client and it works. I just need to be able to do it via the Di Object
Please help if you can think of another reason why this is happening

Error while saving web template

Iam new to this forum , i have a problem and that is when iam trying to save web template, it is saying 'error in data transfer' and could not save.
2.when iam trying to save a query in workbook it is throwing error'workbook storage fault -310' . Is this related to Excel problem?

I saved as template , and created one editable region in the content area

I have four pages from the template; the index, services, products and services. Now if i want to create a sidebar for the services page only. How do I do that without the template updating to all the pages. I just need the service page with the sidebar.

Create a #Sidebar style in your external CSS and a place for it in your main Template.dwt.
On child pages where you don't want the #Sidebar to appear, embed a page specific CSS rule like this:

Run-time error when saving Web Template

I recently got upgraded to Windows XP SP2 from Windows 2000. Since then, when I make a change to a Web template, it can be as simple as check a Web Item property, and then try to save it, I get an error. A window (called SAPBWWebAppDesigner) pops up with the message "Run-time error '-2147417848 (80010108) Automation error. The object invoked has disconnected from its clients".
I then get thrown out of WAD and have to log in again. has anyone encountered this behavior?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I had a lot of troubles with WAD and there are two causes of those:
1. bad installation of SAP GUI and its add-ons (see note 197460)
2. bugs in WAD
Check note:
857360 and those (but they are pretty old) 815044, 318248, 647405, 573436,
Conclusion from above notes is to install latest GUI patch - talk about this with your basis staff (I think most recent for v6.40 is patch 11
