Saving a tone from text message

I got a ringtone from a friend he sent to me via text and email. How do i get the ringtone from my message to under the ringtone section??!?!?!?

The phone is not like a Blackberry. It stops you from doing some things as allowing just any old file or program to access other parts of the OS is where issues come from. So, go to computer, check email. Save file. Drag into iTunes under Ringtones. If it is the proper format it will go into it. Then you sync.
There is nothing you are going to be able to do now on the phone itself.

Can't extract ringtone from text message

My son sent me a ring tone via text message. The last time he did this I was able to touch the ring tone on my screen and save it to my phone. This time it won't let me. The only difference I can see if that this ring tone was made using Quicktime. Is there something I should be doing to save it to my phone? My computer was hit with a virus so I can't even send it to my email and drag it over.
Any help would be appreciated.

When I got the iPhone in June I set it up on my laptop. The ringtones were sent to me by my sons. I thought I had put them on my phone my saving them directly on my iPhone from a text, but everyone is telling me I didn't. So I am assuming I synched them over. In July my laptop was hit by some virus. The laptop had to by wiped clean. I got my laptop back last week. I had to download a new iTunes to my the computer. I did that. I transferred my music purchases over, my app purchases and I synched my phone, but the existing ringtones on my phone did not synch over. When I went to click the synch button I got that bizarre message. Fearfull I would loose those ringtones I did not sync. I have a ringtone that my son emailed me in the library of my iTunes, but I can't get it to my phone because if I sync it I am afraid I will loose it.

When I add contacts from text messages they don't show up in my Contacts list.

Right, I hope I didn't miss another thread. Nothing appears in my contacts list when I try to save numbers from text messages. The only way to save a contact is to type it manually. But the "save to contacts" option is there, so where is it actually saving all those numbers ?

Thanks for the question. Let’s check to make sure all of your groups are being displayed. It is possible that your new contacts are defaulting to a group that is hidden. With the Contacts application open, do the following to make sure that all groups are checked:
Show or hide a group. Tap Groups, then select the groups you want to see. This button appears only if you have more than one source of contacts.

My iPhone 5 won't allow me to open pictures from text messages. I tap the picture, then it just goes to a "thinking" screen and says "Restoring..."
I tried restarting, but it still won't allow me to open pictures.
Please help!!

My iPhone 5 is also having this problem. I just received it2 days ago and it would let me open mms messages, but ever since yesterday it will have a loading screen and never let me see it. I've just been having to save my picture into my camera roll and view it that way

When you press and hold on the picture...it does not give you an option to save the image? Also for the keyboard issue...go into settings/application manager(it may also say apps/manage apps). At the top scroll over and select all. Scroll down and find messaging and tap on it. If you have an option to clear data and force stop then select them(it wont delete anything). Once done go back in the list and see if you also have anything that says keyboard or android keyboard and do the clear data/force stop on that also.

Extract photos from text messages

Is there an easy way or an app that can extract all the photo's and video that I have received in text messages on my iphone. I recently checked and I have 1.8 Gig usage in Messages. I could go through one message at a time but that could take a while!

Save Files

1. Go to Text Messages view, threader veiw that shows the pic preview when its not opened.
2. Press and hold on Pic
3. Select Save from the list\
4. Now the pic should be saved in SD/Messages folder
EMAIL
1. Open Email
2. At top there should be the number and the words "View Attachments" - Click on View Attachments
3. Now you should have a list of attachments with a arrow next to it if not downloaded.
4. Click file you want to download and you should get a animation where the arrow was that is indicating its being downloaded.
5. Once the animation stops this means file has been downloaded to a temp file to be viewed.
6. Now Press and Hold on file text and a window should open with three options - VIEW - SAVE- and SHARE
7. Select Save from list
8. Once complete it will have a little message at bottom of page that says "File was downloaded to SD Card"
9. Now file will be saved in SD / Messages folder on SD Card.
To Save As Wallpaper:
1. Open Gallery
2. Click on photo
3. Click Left Menu button
4. Select "More"
5. Select "Set As"
6. Wallpaper
7. Click Save after you resize image to preferred size

Photos disappearing from text messages

Random photos from text (MMS) messages disappear from my saved messages. Is this problem fixed with iOS5?

Yes I just noticed it yesterday too so I did the 8.1.1 update thinking there must be a fix for it in the update but it didn't help.
Are you having any luck fixing it?

I was text messaged photos on DROID X and it was in a text chain. I couldn't find a way to email the photos or save the photos from the text messages

I got text message from friend that contain ringtone on it. I like to set it on my iphone. How to do it? Doesn't show "save". Please help!!

That is not a feature of the iPhone.
You can purchase ringtones from the iTunes store or create your own on the computer and sync them via iTunes.

Saving pictures sent in text message to centro album...

Can somebody help me? I'm fairly green to the whole computer & smartphone world... Let me apologize beforehand.
I'm looking for some assistance saving pictures sent to me as a text message to my centro album. I do not have email access on my phone so I'm looking for a way to hot sync them to my PC as I'm able to do with the pictures I take myself.

I have verizon but i was having the same problem but i just kept messing around. to save picture txt on a palm centro into the palm album, you click on the image icon that appears next to the txt, and then you press the button that is next to the alt key. and that will give you a list of things to do, including save picture and you can select which album you want to save it to

Why is the .wav file removed from text messages?

Why is my IPhone removing the .wav file that is being sent via text message to my phone? If I send it via an email it comes in but not via a text message sent to my phone number.

I see that there have been 212 views but no replies. I'd love to know if anyone has any thoughts. I ahve voicemails from an outside company forwarded to my IPhone and they come in MUCH quicker via text format then with email. They would also be easier to open. If this is simply not availabel ok but I've seen some other Google results that seem to imply that attached files are available??
Is it because the files are bigger then a standard text message that is gets removed.
Any imput would be appreciated.

No sound from text message xperia z3 lollipop

Hi, since the z3 update to lollipop I no longer get a text sound if I leave open the text message app. I've been through every setting and downloaded other message apps but no fix. I've also reformatted the phone and deleted any 3rd party apps. My sd card is in good condition so I'm thinking this could be an oversight with lollipop. Does anyone know if this is the case?

How do I save pictures from text messages to my albums?

I'm trying to save pictures from a text message my sister sent. I don't use photo stream-- I just want to save it to my pictures the way I could with iOS6. The only options I'm given is to delete or send it as a text message to someone else-- there is no save option.

Never mind-- finally found a forum with the answer. Open the picture to full screen and more options appear. It's a shame they added another step to save them instead of keeping it minimal with the hovering to open options.

My Friend Got a new Number so I deleted his old number. But when I go to text messages and click on the box in the upper right corner for a new message and type his name in, Not only does his new number show up, but his old number does also that I deleted and replaced with the new number. When I go to contacts under his name only his new number is there. How do I delete his old Number from the text message History?

that's also my problem how to delete contacts history. try to go to message, select new message- then enter his/her number. u will see there the old number that was deleted already. then tap the ( i ) symbol at the right side, then you will see there "remove from recents". and it will not appear anymore. deleted contacts will not appear anymore. it worked for my iphone 4s w/ the latest ios 7 update.
