Saving a website as a pdf

I am trying to save an application which is on a website as a pdf. I looked up how to do it online, and it says to select print, and go from there, but everytime I select print it makes the error sound and I can't do anything. Can someone help me out please?
I appreciate it!

Hi and Welcome to Apple Discussions...
Did you download the application first?

    Make sure you have the latest Adobe Reader installed for your OS.

  • Saving Illustrator CS4 file to PDF for printing. NO FORUMS CAN HELP

    I have put threads on the PDF forum, they told me to put it on Illustrator forum and still know one has an answer, Tried to contact Adobe about this and just got a run around. Can anyone please help?
    My problem results from when I save my file from Adobe Illustrator to a PDF for printing. After saving from Illustrator to a PDF and proofing it on screen all my gradients and other elements are where I need them to be on the page. But when I upload them to my printing company template all the gradients and so on are not even close to be in the right spot. How can I solve this problem, Is there a new setting in CS4 I need to know? Because I never had this problem with Illustrator CS3.

    Hi Reggie,
    I'm far from an Illustrator expert, but let's see if we can gather som more information form you that might help me, or someone else, figure out what's going wrong. Can you post a screnn capture of the arwork in Illustrator so I can see what the gradients are and how they're positioned? Use the little camera Icon thing in the toolbar above the message editing space on the web page.
    Next, tell us about the printer's template. What application is it made in? What version?
    What version of Illustrator and what OS are you using to create your art?
    Is it only the gradients that are in the wrong place? Maybe a screen shot of that would help too.

  • Saving and sending Adobe Form pdf from WebDynpro

    Hi,
    I'm developing an application which receives data from a RFC to a R/3. The datas are displayed on a pdf-Document in a Webdynpro. This works fine.
    Now I want to send this form as attachment in an email. Do I have to save it first as pdf or can I send it directly?
    On SapHelp I found a tutorial how to save a form as pdf:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/dc/f1783fe3263042e10000000a114084/frameset.htm
    I tried out the describtion but without success. I defined an action on the view where the form should be displayed and added the coding in the implementation of the event. In the form I added a button Submit to SAP from the Web Dynpro Library. When I press the button, nothing happens. Do I have to make any changes under Object->Field->Control Type?
    Another question about the coding:
    public void onActionsubmit(com.sap.tc.webdynpro.progmodel.api.IWDCustomEvent wdEvent )
        //@@begin onActionsubmit(ServerEvent)
              IPrivateResultView.IContextElement contextElement =
                   wdContext.currentContextElement();
              byte[] bytes = contextElement.getPdfSource();
              try {
                   File file = new File("C:
    temp
    example.pdf");
                   FileOutputStream os = new FileOutputStream(file);
                   os.write(bytes);
                   os.close();
              } catch (IOException e) {
                    // do something
                   e.printStackTrace();
              wdThis.wdGetAPI().getComponent().getMessageManager().reportSuccess(
                   "You have pressed Submit!");
        //@@end
    The path where the pdf shall be saved is "C:
    temp
    example.pdf", I expected something like "C:\temp\example.pdf" on a windows machine.
    Where will the pdf be saved? On the machine i deployed the application (what about rights for saving) to or localy on the machine I start the app?
    Does anyone knows how to send the pdf by email when saving the form or knows a helpful tutorial?
    Many thanks for your help

    Hi all,
    doing Tutorial 31 from SDN (Interactive Forms using E-Mail) I have a problem with the entries for the smtp-host in the coding.
    I always get the error message:
    Sending failed;  nested exception is: com.sap.engine.services.javamail.exception.JavaMailMessagingException: Cannot send message to host xxx:25 using the SMTP protocol.
    //@@begin onActionSendForm(ServerEvent)
    Properties props = new Properties();
    String host = "xxx";
    props.put("mail.smtp.host", host);
    In host I entered the entrie for the smtp i use in Outlook, where it works fine. In the Tutorial i get the errormessage.
    I have an smtp-server from our company with which it works too, but it is not the smtp used by Outlook.
    And i can't use this smtp at my customers.
    Could it be a problem with the used ports or a needed authentication? In the Tutorial is no coding for this.
    Does anyone use a freemailer for this tutorial and have success with the smtp of this freemailer?
    Kind Regards
    Mathias

  • Dynamic form needs to be saved as a flat/unmodifiable pdf

    Hi All,
    Please let me know what i can do!
    I have enabled "Enable Additional Features" in acrobat to allow my dynamic pdf form to be saved. However, after being saved and reopenning the saved form in reader, the pdf is still dynamic and edits can to text fields or drop down lists can still be made. I need it to be saved as a flat pdf file.
    I also have a "submit by email" button, programmed to email the filled out pdf to a particualr emailbox. Clicking the "submit by email" button, will attach the pdf, but unfortunately the file still allow edits.
    Help please!

    Hi,
    a XFA form cannot be real flattened by Acrobat nor Reader except by printing.
    Another method is to set all fields access property to readOnly be scripting.
    function lockFields(vNode) {
        if (vNode.className === "field") {
            vNode.access = "protected";
        for (var i = 0; i < vNode.nodes.length; i += 1) {
            lockFields(vNode.nodes.item(i));
    lockFields(xfa.form);

  • Saving A Dynamic Rights Enabled PDF as a Static PDF

    I'm searching for a solution to saving a dynamic rights enabled PDF order form as a state image once the user has completed the order form.
    I can do so via the Print Form button if I have an Adobe PDF print driver in my print list. But, if no print driver is available for Reader 9 users to download and add to their print list, the only option seems to be "File > Save As" and that will render a PDF file that is still dynamically active.
    The client wants the file to lock information before they submit it. They want to avoid a situation where someone could tamper with order information after the fact. Any suggestions on how I go about making this happen quickly?
    I have to launch a set of forms next week. Your assistance is very much appreciated!

  • How to keep Reader from being installed if running Pro? Running Acrobat X Pro. Occaisionally, a website with a PDF triggers Reader to be installed on my system. NEVER want reader (that's why i bought Pro). How do i keep Reader from EVER being installed?

    Running Acrobat X Pro.
    Occasionally, a website with a PDF triggers Reader to be installed on my system.
    NEVER want reader (that's why i bought Pro).
    How do i keep Reader from EVER being installed?

    I don't get a pop-up. Something triggers the Reader installer to be loaded on my system. This occurs without my knowledge. Then, the next time i go to open a PDF, instead of it opening immediately with Acrobat Pro, I get the first screen of the installation stuff for Reader (Accept/Decline Terms of use, etc.). At this point, i get out of the install, go into control panel and uninstall Reader (which is listed as a loaded program, even though i haven't finished the install). After i uninstall reader and open a PDF, it opens correctly with Acrobat Pro. This happens once or twice a month at least. Is it possible that the Adobe Acrobat Update Service task loads Reader on my system at some interval? How do i block Reader form EVER being installed or loaded?

  • When saving a document as a PDF, the text converts to symbols.  How do I correct this problem?

    English word text in a document that is saved as a PDF appears in the PDF as a series of unreadable symbols, letters, and numbers.  This happens in Adobe Acrobat 9 and X Pro.

    i take it this only happens when saving from a website?  the trick (for me) was to bring up the "print" drop down menu, select Adobe PDF, then select "preferences".  on the new dialog box, uncheck "rely on system fonts only, do not use document fonts".  then hit "okay" "apply" and "print".  it should come out correct.

  • Are you having trouble Saving a copy of a pdf document in Adobe X? Well here is the solution!!!!

    Use another Web browser! There are confirmed problems with IE8 and Firefox. Opera works just fine, and I am assuming since Google is 'tea-bagging' just about everyone (or everyone is 'tea-bagging' Google, I'm not really sure) that it probably works in Chrome. There! Problem solved! Adobe sucks!

    You can create a script that will lock the fields before signing. But when you edit the document after the student signs, the signature will no longer be valid and the document will show that it has been changed after signing. Adobe restricts the number of files you can collect information on with forms that can be saved and emailed. The restriction used to be 500 files unless you purchased the appropriate LiveCycle product to enable the pdf files for saving.
    Why in the world are you requiring potential students to sign forms. Many students will not know how to sign pdf files. Just have a button that will submit the information to a website for you to extract or to send you the information in an FDF file and import the information form. You can have a button that will lock the fields they fill out. This will ensure you do not have to worry about the 500 file limit.

  • Saving a website on the hard drive so that you can put it on another host

    I just made a website and want to save it to my hard drive just in case everything crashes or there is a dispute with the host and then I will have the website ready to put on another host. For example, if the host decides they don't like my content they might just pull it off the web. I have heard it happen to people and they had to find another host. I don't think it will happen to me but you never know and I just want to have a copy so that if there is any dispute, I can have the website saved and ready to put up on another hosting account.
    Can I just save it from the web using "Save file"? Will that save it in a form that's good enough for putting on another host? I can hire a designer to put it on the host if it takes a few extra programming steps, so long as I have the files saved .....
    Or do I have to do something complicated like special save programs like
    http://www.sitesucker.us/mac.html ?
    I use Scrapbook add-on on Firefox to save the webpages I like just in case the site gets pulled down in the future. Is that the kind of thing I need? If that is all I need, can I use Scrapbook to save my website?
    Will it save all the information to restore the website on another host exactly as it appears? My website has been coded with HTML/CSS. I don't think there is much PHP.
    I am not sure about databases. My website is simply selling a service so I don't keep a database I think or just a minimal one. The customer fills out a form and the information goes to my email address. And the information on my website doesn't change. It isn't a blog that I am adding information to constantly. It just has links for navigating to different pages on the same website. It doesn't have links that point to other websites. There are no fancy files like movies etc.
    I just want something to save my website so that I or an experienced web person can easily put it back up on another host.
    I use Snow Leopard 6.0 by the way. I haven't upgraded to Snow Leopard 6.3 because there were a lot of problems when I did that in the past. So I went back to Snow Leopard 6.0. (It's been good so far so I think I will stay with it.)

    I didn't make it. I gave the psd design to a web designer and gave him instructions to make it using CSS as I heard CSS web pages load faster. He said he wouldn't use database programming languages like php or MySquareL or whatever they're called because he said I didn't need them and he would charge me a lot more for that, so I said just make it with CSS/HTML. I think he's a PC guy, not a mac guy. He's a professional designer and he made my website from scratch from my designs, not with a website builder.
    He hasn't put it on the host yet though he's just about to. I did a search about backing up your website and one website said that some hosts allow you to backup the website using cPanel or something like that. I don't know whether my host has that or not. My host account is very cheap like $16 a year so I don't think there are any special features to the hosting account.

  • When I try to access an active link from a website (usually a pdf file), the new tab opens and is labeled correctly; the word "done" appears at the bottom; but the page does not open or download. The same problem does not occur with Chrome.

    Example: on the home page of the website http://www.dot.ri.gov
    there is an active link entitled "Overview of all Iway changes - Fall 2010"
    Clicking on it exposes the following url:
    http://www.dot.ri.gov/documents/iway/Iway_Changes_Fall2010.pdf
    However, the tab remains blank, even though it says "Done" in the bottom left corner.
    When I use Google Chrome as a browser, I have no problem opening that url.
    This has occurred numerous times over the past several days on several different sites--and usually the link that will not open is a pdf file.

    Hello,
    '''Try Firefox Safe Mode''' to see if the problem goes away. Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode, which disables most add-ons.
    ''(If you're not using it, switch to the Default theme.)''
    * On Windows you can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by holding the '''Shift''' key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
    * On Mac you can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by holding the '''option''' key while starting Firefox.
    * On Linux you can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by quitting Firefox and then going to your Terminal and running: firefox -safe-mode (you may need to specify the Firefox installation path e.g. /usr/lib/firefox)
    * Or open the Help menu and click on the '''Restart with Add-ons Disabled...''' menu item while Firefox is running.
    [[Image:FirefoxSafeMode|width=520]]
    ''Once you get the pop-up, just select "'Start in Safe Mode"''
    [[Image:Safe Mode Fx 15 - Win]]
    '''''If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode''''', your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. Please follow the [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]] article for that.
    ''To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.''
    ''When you figure out what's causing your issues, please let us know. It might help other users who have the same problem.''

  • What happens (or can happen) when connecting to a website from a pdf file?

    (Part of this post was copied from a question I posted earlier, to which I received two correct answers)
    I'm working with WIndows 7 Home Edition. I downloaded a pattern in pdf. One of the first times I had the document open, I saw a little message, asking me to allow the document with the website it came from. At that time I didn't want that to happen so I answered 'do not allow' (or words to that effect).
    I'm working with Windows 7 HE, Adobe Reader v.10.1.1
    I have now changed my 'do not allow' to 'allow' so the pdf file can connect with the website I downloaded it from.  But I'm curious: what is or could be the purpose of that connection? Anything I have to be worried about? And from whom does that request come? The Adobe pdf file, or the website where I downloaded it from?
    THanks!
    Ciske.

    "There are a number of things within a PDF file that can request data from a webserver, or post data back to one, but they can only be triggered by the PDF file - not the server.
    A form can submit completed fields to the server, and read a response message (e.g. to confirm the data is correct)
    A rich media annotation (Flash, video or audio) can download content from the server instead of embedding it in the file
    Scripts within a specially-written PDF file can communicate with a server using protocols such as SOAP, to retrieve data (e.g. to look up information in a remote database)
    There's no immediately-obvious way to tell exactly what information is being sent or received unless you inspect the PDF in some detail; but because of the security models used by Acrobat and Adobe Reader, files which communicate with a remote server cannot read or write data from your own computer without your interaction - so they cannot secretly upload files, passwords, etc."
    Thank you very much for your explanation.
    I understand the three points you explaned. It is just hard to apply them to the kind of pdf file I am referring to. But I don't know anything about adobe reader, and that may very well be the reason for my lack of understanding.
    The file is an explanation, a pattern of a craft project, with extensive drawings to help understanding the directions. The website has many patterns (all pdf files) of the very same kind available.
    I believe I understand your explanation, but again, it is hard to imagine why a simple pdf file like the one we're talking about would need to connect with the website it came from. But then again, I know NOTHING about pdf files.
    So, in my simple mind, I felt I had to deny permission to connect which I have now made possible again. It's annoying to see something like this happen and not have a CLUE what it is about
    Thank you again for your help.
    Ciske.
