Saving a Word or excel document to iphone

I currently recieved a word document on my iphone that I want to save. Is there a way to save that document or spreadsheet somewhere on my iphone?

In a word, no.
It must be stored with the received email message, and viewed from there only - at the present time anyway. This may be different after firmware update 2.0 is released in June, but no way to know for certain.

  • Word and excel documents in iphone

I cannot use wireless connection to download documents to my iphone, as I am not allowed on the organization's network via iphone. Is there an application that I can use to make the iphone visable on the pc screen so I can drag and drop my documents? I purchased Air Sharing, but I guess I cannot use it since I am blocked from the network.

    Hi bikram,
there are various apps that have integrated Microsoft Excel document viewing, such as AirSharing that was also mentioned above. The best app, however, to actually view and edit Excel-compatible documents (.xml files) on the iPhone is called Spreadsheet. For more info, please feel free to read my blog entry on using Microsoft Office documents on the iPhone .

  • Is there any place to put word or excel documents on the Iphone

I am new as a Iphone user
Is There any place or app for storing word or excell documents on Iphone?

The iphone is not really a storage device.
You can e-mail them to yourself and read the attachement.
You can look for an app that provides this.

  • What do I need to do to open Office (word AND excel) documents, PowerPC issues etc. They don't open on iWork '08. Office 2011? Please advise :-)

What do I need to do to open Office 2004 (word AND excel) documents? PowerPC issues etc. They don't open on iWork '08. Happy to upgrade to iWork or Office just to be able to access my docs from Office 2004 again - please can someone advise? Cheers.

Hi - thanks for this info. Actually I have downloaded a 30-day trial of MS Office for Mac 2011 and it reads/writes. But I was expecting that if I saved it again, either as xls oe xlsx, then I would be able to open the newly-saved document in iWorks '08. This is not the case, any ideas why? cheers, Matt.

  • Saving a WORD or PDF document in the database?

    Hello,
If I have a WORD document, PDF document or EXCEL document. How can I save them in the database? What type of LOB I should use.
What I would like to do is have a webpage with a text box and a browse button. The user can then use the browse buttton to find the file and have its location inserted into the text box. Then the user can click another button to add the file to the database.
Once the file is in the database - I also want to have an update page where the user can change the files saved in the database or delete them also
    Thanks
    Doug

Well, Word and Excel documents are binary, so you will need a Binary LOB (BLOB).
    I have recently been storing/retrieving BLOBs through ASP/ADO . . .
BLOBs are limited to 4GB, but ADO has a limit of 2GB. Hopefully, that will not be a problem.
If you are using ODBC, then be aware that you need to enable LOBs by setting LOB=T in the connection string. If you are using ODBC with stored procedures, then there is a bug that causes the LOBs to be truncated to 32K, which is fixed in 9.2.0.6.5. A colleague tells me that the Microsoft ODBC Driver for Oracle works with LONGs but not with LOBs.
If you are using OleDB with stored procedures, then you'll need to set the "SPPrmsLOB" property to TRUE.
When uploading BLOBs through ADO, you need to set the parameter size to 1 higher than the actual size, otherwise you get an error.
When retrieving the BLOBs through stored procedures as OUT parameters, you need to set the parameter size to larger than the BLOB, otherwise it gets truncated. I do not like having to specify 2GB for a file that might only be 32K, so I prefer to return a record set via a REF CURSOR.

  • Word and Excel documents name changed after download?

Hi everyone, I have upgraded my Macbook Pro 17 (2010) to latest Mac OS X 10.8, everything seemed to be ok. Later, I noticed that every time I download my Word or Excel documents and save on my desktop, the names of files which are in russian, change to hieroglyphs. Any other files with russian names are saved properly. So I have to rename the files I have downloaded, and if I rename the file with russian, it's ok. What is faulty with my Mac?

    More likely "do not know".
As asked before:  How exactly are you downloading these docs?
If you are using Mail, have you tried webmail instead, or a different browser?

How do you put word or excel documents onto an IPAD?

There are no Microsoft Word or Excel apps for the iPad, yet.
The Pages app, among a few others will open, write to and save Word docs. Numbers will do the same for Excel files.
First thing is to buy and download an app to work on these docs from the ap store. Then sync with your computer to have the apps on both your iPad and in your iTunes on your computer. Once this is done you can copy files to the Pages or Numbers section on your iTunes then sync with your iPad to have them copied to the iPad. Also, any Word or Excel files that you receive via email will also open in Pages and or Excel and can be saved to the list of files for those apps.

  • Word and Excel documents vanish

This may be the wrong forum for this question if so I apologize and wold appreciate direction.
Working on numerous word and excel documents every so-often the file will disappear off my screen. If I click on another application then click on say word in the Dock the file comes back again. It tends to happen mainly with larger files. Has anyone had this experience and if so how can I fix it.
    Thanks
    Peter

Since Office is not an Apple product, you'll get better response if you use a forum dedicated to Microsoft's Mac products such as <http://groups.google.com/groups/dir?sel=33607053> rather than an Apple forum.
Be sure to search the forum first in case someone has already had a similar question answered. You'll get your answer faster this way. Post your question in the forum if you don't find anything that helps you.

  • Word and excel documents

Am I correct that there is no way to edit my word and excel documents once they are on my Palm Pre??!!! I can't believe I went from a 5 year old smart phone to a new Pre and lost the ability to modify documents (with the promise of being able to do it in the future, and at what cost???).  What a rip off, I should have gone with droid technology!
Post relates to: Pre p100eww (Sprint)

Palm has not released specific information on whether an Office document editor will be included in webOS 2.0. However, speculation is rampant that QuickOffice will be releasing a document editor, either as part of 2.0 or as a stand-alone app.
What we do know is that Dataviz, the company that produced the current doc viewer (as well as Documents To Go for Palm OS and other platforms), won't be producing an editing version for webOS in spite of their earlier promises. They're been purchased by RIM (Blackberry).

  • Can't send Word or Excel Documents from my mail account.

    Hi
I'm running on OSX( 10,4,3) and I can't send any Word or Excel documents.
Well what I mean is the person at the receiving end can't open them. They just come up as corrupted documents. I can send RTF.
    Windows friendly is turned on.
If I send a document to myself (even though I created the document myself) I can't open it. (Corrupted Document it says).
If I send it to a PC or MAC user they still can't open it.
If I send it from another e-mail address (Ntl) the same document will open regardless of PC or MAC user.
Does anyone know what the problem is?
    Positive contributions most welcome.
    Cheers

Try selecting/using NTL's SMTP server to send mail with your .Mac account as a test.
Go to Mail > Preferences > Accounts and under the Account Information tab for the accounts preferences, select the pop-up to the right of the outgoing (SMTP) server selection.
Select the NTL SMTP server to be used to send mail with your .Mac account. When exiting account preferences, select OK to save the changed setting when prompted.
Using the NTL SMTP server to send mail with your .Mac account will be invisible to all recipients.

Just adding to what CSound has said.
Pages and Numbers will change Word and Excel documents when they open and close them.
Sometimes the change is subtle and sometimes not. With the latest versions of Pages and Numbers, more likely not.
So don't think you are going to work with MsOffice files without problems. You will always have something not right and in some cases really annoyingly not right. Like having all the text from Pages appear bold in MsWord, or page breaks in the wrong place or some objects and graphics not appearing in one or the other.
If working between different Operating Systems and MsOffice files, I also recommend LibreOffice. It opens and saves nearly all file formats. Unfortunately not .pages or numbers. Yet. The folks at LibreOffice are busy adding to it all the time, and making sure it works in all Operating systems, Mac, Windows and Linux and they are promising iOS as well soon.
