Saving A5 document as PDF

I have created an A5 booklet and want to save it as a pdf for printing. It only seems to save as part of an A4 sheet. ie all my work is in the bottom right hand corner of each pdf page. How do I save it correctly formatted?
Thanks
Joe

Hi Daniel,
I tried on my machine by setting the paper size to A5 in the *Document Inspector>Document*, then go to File>Export... and save the document as PDF, when I view it on Preview/Adobe Reader, it retains the correct paper size. Then I tried using File>Print... and choose *PDF>Save as PDF...*, it also works fine.
I'm not sure the settings in your document, but would like to help you take a look at it. If you want, you can send the Pages document (you can compressed it in .zip file) to me (my email is available when you click on my name) and I shall see what I can do with it.

  • I only saved my document in PDF, can i open it with Pages again?

    Hello,
I have saved my Pages document in PDF and i forgot to save it in Pages...can i reopen my PDF file in Pages again?
    Thanks
    Syl

I have a Pages v5.1 document that I placed a yellow text background (aka true highlight) on some text. I had one word that was red text with a black underline. Exported this to PDF.
Double-clicked the PDF to open it in Preview. Pressed command+A to select all 7 pages of text, and then command+C to copy it (as RTF) to the clipboard. Opened a new Pages v5.1 document, and pressed command+V to paste from clipboard. The yellow background and red text survived. The custom black underscore did not. Paste and Match Style will strip everything, including formatting, from the clipboard text. Not advisable.
You could also select the text in Preview, and from the Preview > Services Menu, choose New TextEdit Window Containing Selection, if you wanted the content in a different document (.doc/.docx, .rtf, .txt, .odt)  format than .pages.

  • Saving Scanned Documents to PDF

I am currently unable to save a scanned document to PDF after scanning. I choose save or save as and nothing happens. No screen pops up asking where to save the scanned document.
Windows 7 64bit and 32bit, Kodak Scanner I30 I40, Adobe Acrobat Pro 9.4.5 and Adobe Acrobat Pro 10. Any help would sure be appreciated.

I am sorry. Thought I was very clear. Where this is taking place is in Adobe Acrobat Pro 9.4.5 and Adobe Acrobat Pro 10. I assumed you would know I was trying to save the scanned document to  PDF after using the create a PDF from a scanner. That is why I listed Adobe Acrobat Pro 9.4.5 and Adobe Acrobat Pro 10. I am able to print the scanned document to a PDF. This is happening on multiple machines with the configurations I listed in my first question. Windows 7 64bit and 32bit, Kodak Scanner I30 I40, Adobe Acrobat Pro 9.4.5 and Adobe Acrobat Pro 10. Enough Information?

  • Saving Illustrator documents as PDF's

    Hi Adobe Community,
I just recently came across this problem while trying to save an illustrator file as a pdf.
Note that the original file was created on a Mac in illustrator CS6 and saved as a pdf and given to me to edit text on a PC in illustrator CS4.
I didn't have the correct font for a particular text but fortunately I was able to download and install it.
I opened the pdf created in the CS6 version in CS4 and realized that the font for just two letters had changed. I amended the problem by switching to the correct font and saved it as a pdf. When I open that pdf again it shows the same problem. The two letters of a text are different from the original.
What could be causing this and how can I fix it?
    Thanks in advance.

Is there any pattern to what the 2 chracters are or formatting on them? What font and technology are they? They may have used an opentype version with more charachters or enabled subsetting of fonts in pdf.
Ask them to send you a .ai file saved down to CS4.  Illustrator is not designed to edit .pdf files.

  • Saved Pages document as PDF. Now hyperlinks don't work

After saving my newsletter in Pages 09 as a PDF (Print>Compress as PDF) some embedded hyperlinks don't work. Strangely enough, the links to an e-mail DO work, but links to a URL DO NOT. Why is this and what do I do to overcome this problem?

That's a fairly long thread I linked to. Did you get all the way down to this post with a screenshot? I see that others had the same problem you do & it took them a couple of tries to get it working. I would be nice to be able to see what you're doing (or not doing), but we have to make do with words & screenshots.

  • Color Handling when saving Word document as PDF, containing CMYK TIFF image?

What is the proper procedure for creating PDFs from Word documents that contain a CMYK TIFF image? I have created a company logo by exporting an AI file with Pantone colors as a TIFF (with a CMYK color profile, since there is the intention of printing). Since it is a logo, color consistency is important and the utmost priority. I will be needing to insert this file into a Word document that will then be converted into a PDF.
I've read somewhere that Word automatically converts images to RGB, and also have come across potential problems of colors being changed in the final PDF through unmanaged color handling and conversions. I figured instead of running around in circles trying to find the best solution, I'd post on here. Is this procedure possible? What is the best way to do this without changing my original color profile or CMYK values of the logo being used?
This PDF has the intention of being placed online for offices to print/publish.
    Thanks!

Though actually, let's take a step back -- why do you want to use CMYK? Most offices won't be using PostScript printers, so the CMYK will be converted to RGB for printing. For publishing - do you know the required CMYK profile to use for all possible publishing scenarios? Properly tagged RGB is generally considered the way to deal with this in modern workflows not targeted at a specific press. But still probably not with Word!

  • Am I able to use my USB and read saved word documents

I am wanting to know if I am able to plug in a standard USB storage device and access saved word documents or PDF's. Can this be done via a connector of some sort.

To expand on what Diavonex has said, here is a good round-up of available devices: http://www.cnet.com/news/wireless-mobile-storage-expander-roundup-frequent-trave lers-youll-want-one-of-these/.
Also, just understand that these storage devices must be accessed using their own iOS apps and are not generally accessible as you would expect on a computer for example.

  • Saving a Word document to pdf - dropping letters when printed

I have a client that is saving a document created in Microsoft Word 2007 as a PDF file. After saving the PDF file they are distributing the PDF to their staff as well as users outside of the office. When the PDF file is printed the printed copy is missing a combination of letters, such as "ie" or "ti" or "li" etc. The user herself has printed the PDF file from both her work PC and her home PC with the same results.
Adobe Reader 9 (v9.3.0.148) in a terminal server environment (Windows Server 2008SP2)
Microsoft Office 2007 all updates installed.
Anyone have any ideas, I have tried most of the fixes that I found from others but noting that keeps permanently.
    Thanks, Joe.

Not Reader causing it. It's how the PDF was created. Your samples are all what are called ligatures and the font information for those ligatures are not being embedded in the PDF when it is created. You would need to ask Microsoft how to do that if you are using their product to create the PDF.

Sounds as if you used Microsoft software to make a PDF. If so, and you didn't use Adobe Acrobat ($$), then you need to get help with Publisher -- Adobe Reader only shows what you make.

  • I have used Image Capture to scan images/documents and then saved them as either PDFs or PNG files.  For some reason, just this past week Image Capture will no longer save the file.  It scans, and the Scan Results window pops up, but it won't save file.

I have used Image Capture to scan images/documents and then saved them as either PDFs or PNG files.  For some reason, just this past week, Image Capture will no longer save the file.  It scans, and the Scan Results window pops up, but it won't save file.
The file name has no special character in it, just letters and no spaces.
I have done this in the past and it has worked, but now it will not.
I have not upgraded any software, that I am aware of.
After scanning, the Image Capture pops up the Scan Results with the file name in the window, but neither the Scan Results nor the Image Capture window responds to inputs.  The Image Capture window is frozen, with only the "Overview" and "Cancel" buttons active (but non-responsive).
Is this a software issue or a scanner hardware issue?  I am using a HP Photosmart C6200 series printer/scanner on a network using a Time Capsule airport.
    Thanks.

    I had the same problem.
Got a 90% fix.  Apparently the Mavericks preferences won't work with Yosemite, so I just deleted the Image Capture preferences.
Unfortunately, the "Scan to" folder seems to be permanently set to the Pictures folder.
    1.  Quit Image Capture
    2.  Go to Finder > Go > Home, which opens up your home folder (named after your user name)
    3.  Open Library > Preferences > com.apple.ImageCapture.plist - Drag this file to the Trash
    4.  Start "Image Capture", click "Details" and change all your settings as you prefer
    5.  Quit and restart "Image Capture".   Notice it remembers all your settings except "Scan to" folder.  It insists on saving to "Pictures".
That's as far as I was successful.  I tried changing the "Scan to" folder to "Desktop", but on launch, Image Capture always sets it back to "Pictures".
    This is what I tried:
    6.  Download and install "Pref Setter" from http://www.nightproductions.net/prefsetter.html
    7.  Quit "Image Capture".  Right-click on "com.apple.ImageCapture.plist" and open with Pref Setter.
    8.  Search for "Pictures", which finds "~/Pictures" (the tilde character at the start means your home directory).
    9.  Double-click on "~/Pictures" and change it to the folder you prefer.  I like "~/Desktop"
    10. Choose File > Save then Quit from Pref Setter.  Note that re-opening the plist file still shows "~/Desktop"
    11. Start up "Image Capture" -- on startup, "Image Capture" sets "Scan to" folder to "Pictures"
    I consider this a bug.
