Saving all data in preparation for a possible replacement phone

Hello,
Long story short - I may be getting a replacement iPhone for the one I currently have.
I haven't handed my phone over just yet because I want to make 100% sure that all my data is properly saved and how I should be giving it back to Apple.
Everything is in iTunes - music, podcasts etc etc, so I'm hoping that just hooking up the new iPhone and syncing will put all my data onto the new iPhone? Is this the same process with the apps? They're in iTunes as well, so again just hook up and sync and I won't have any dramas? Or do I have to redownload? If so, what happens with the apps that I've paid for, I don't want to pay for them again.
In terms of what I'm going to lose, I can only think of my contacts (they're not synced up with iTunes, I just put them in manually), my e-mail accounts I've added any photos that I haven't synced over and my SMS conversations. Is that about it?
Next question is - how do I give it back to Apple? Should I be taking all my music, apps etc off? Deleting my contacts and SMS conversations etc? Or just leave it all as is?

iTunes creates and maintains a backup for your iPhone, which is updated at the first step during the iTunes sync process. This link provides the data included with your iPhone's backup.

Although contacts are included with your iPhone's backup, it isn't a good idea to depend on your iPhone's backup alone for this data since the backup includes other data. If there is a problem with your iPhone's backup or with some of the data included with the backup and you aren't able to restore your iPhone from your iPhone's backup or transfer the backup to your new iPhone, kiss your contacts goodbye. Contacts are designed to be synced with a supported application on your computer. With Windows, this can be with Outlook 2003 or 2007 along with syncing calendar events and iPhone Notes, or with Windows Contacts for syncing contacts only. With a Mac, this can be with the Address Book for contacts, and iCal for calendar events.
Since you aren't currently syncing contacts with a supported application on your computer and if the supported application on your computer to be used does not include any contacts, before syncing contacts enter one contact in the supported application on your computer. Make this contact up if needed, which can be deleted later. This will provide a merge prompt with the first sync for this data, which you want to select.
Although photos in your iPhone's Camera Roll are also included with your iPhone's backup, photos in your iPhone's Camera Roll should be imported by your computer as with any other digital camera. Be sure to import these photos by your computer before your iPhone is exchanged.
There is no device limit for the number of iPods and/or iPhones that can be synced with the same iTunes library and iTunes account on the same computer including 3rd party apps. You will be able to transfer your 3rd party apps to your new iPhone along with all other iTunes content.
SMS/MMS are also included with your iPhone's backup.
Before your iPhone is exchanged, import the photos from your iPhone's Camera Roll. Then sync your iPhone with iTunes to update your iPhone's backup along with any data kept synchronized with a supported application on your computer such as contacts.
If you don't want to return your iPhone with any data on it, on your iPhone go to Settings > General > Reset and select Erase All Content and Settings. This is a secure erase and will take an hour or two so have your iPhone connected to a power source when doing so .
The first time you connect your new iPhone to iTunes, you will be prompted to register the iPhone followed by transferring the backup for your existing iPhone. After the backup is transferred, this will be followed by a sync to transfer your selected iTunes content under the various tabs for your iPhone sync preferences, which will be pre-selected under the various tab for your new iPhone sync preferences based on what is selected under the various tabs for your current iPhone sync preferences.

How to limit ALL data transmission except for WhatsApp in Z10?

Hello, My prepaid carrier allows me to use WhatsApp with no data limits, so I want to use data packs for WhatsApp and WhatsApp ONLY, is there a way to block ALL data transmission except for that used by Whats App?
To clarify more: my carrier debits my balance if I use voice OR data, it is not a matter of buying data packs, or limiting them, the actual limit is my balance.
The reason I am asking this is because my balance reduces little by little EVEN if I am not using WhatsApp (turned off or better said terminated from the apps manager), it is like some other applications (or even the OS) are checkin for updates or sending/receiving data in the background.

'Data Usage' is available with latest OS update.
You can limit data for email accounts - Edit account - Roaming data control, Mobile data control and wifi data control - limits can be set from 5k up or to 'headers only'.
As long as you aren't syncing files, I wouldn't worry about other settings, apps will only use data when opened.

I want to block ALL data services on my LG Revere prepaid phone...is it possible?

I recently upgraded to an LG Revere. This is a prepaid phone where I pay 0.15/minute as an old Alltel customer. I just looked at my account usage and found that my balance is dwindling QUICKLY due to data sessions. I don't use any internet or web services at all. I rarely text and honestly my phone is OFF most of the time because I live in the country and it truly doesn't work well out here.
Can I block all data services and just have a pay by the minute situation on this phone?

Ok, I neglected to say in my first msg that I DID get an response from my email sent on Sunday but since I got a real person on the phone that said she had fixed my problem on her end I did follow the instructions. Today, I did what the email said which is the following:
There is a known issue with Alltel plans and the LG Revere. On your phone, you have an application called “Daily Scoop,” which is a free service, but data charges do apply. If Daily Scoop was preinstalled on your phone when you purchased it, you may turn on or off notifications for both Verizon Messages and Bonus Messages through the application directly. Please follow the steps below to stop the data session charges for the “Daily Scoop:”
•        To access the Daily Scoop, click on Media Center
•        Then Browse & Download menu
•        Select the Daily Scoop icon
•        Once In Daily Scoop
•        Go to Menu
•        Then Options
•        Select Verizon Messages
•        You then have the option to turn On/Off – Select OFF
•        Hit CLR two times to go back to options
•        Select Bonus Messages
•        You then have the option to turn On/Off – Select OFF
You will still be able to access messages from the application, but you will not receive banner notifications on your home screen. You may choose to suspend Daily Scoop account by contacting [email protected].
I called again and the gal seemed to think that I was good to go. Again, I won't know until Friday most likely. They credited my account for the data session yesterday and the two today that occurred when I turned off the msg options. I will be sending a msg to vzdailyscoopsupport next.
By the way, in order to get a real person from the 800 number, you enter your phone #, option 4, option 4, option 5, enter your security code and they should connect you to a live body.
I will update again on Friday to let you know how it's going. Hopefully I'm on my way and maybe with this you will be too

Erase All Data - Factory Reset For Palm TX

I'm trying to erase all data from my Palm TX, but whenever I get to the "Erase All Data?" screen, pressing the UP button doesn't do anything, nor for that matter does pressing the DOWN button.
Any help would be appreciated.

App for saving all data Lumia 635

I recently had to change phones due to damage & lost all my contacts, diary etc ; is there an app I can download to store all this on. Sorry if its a basic question but I'm not as young as I was and do not actually know what I'm looking for.

When you set up your Lumia, you must have created a Microsoft Account to link with it. All your Contacts, Calendar entries, etc will get automatically synced and will be available at live.com when you login with the same credentials. Saving all data from a while loop

I already asked a similar question but it might not be very clear and there were some concepts that I could not well understand.
1. I have a key pad to generate DTMF stream signal (I call it stream because it contains multiple tones which make up of a complete phone number)
2. I would like to save it as a wav file but I guess other format is okay and because the write to wav file does not support append so for this particular case, I use write to waveform instead of write to wav
My approach is to have a queue structure so I can write each iteration result to a file.
i)When I try to retrieve the data, there is nothing but 0.
ii)my intention is to get 8000 sample per second (fs = 8,000) but it save the data so fast
I attached the file so if there is way to solve the problems, please help me.

I believe what is happening is that your producer loop is iterating even when there is no key press and sending blank or default data to the consumer and overwriting the test.wav file.
Easy way around this is to put an event structure in the producer that only enqueues data when there is a key press. I can't see into the Mathscript node so I'm not sure what's going on there, but I suspect the default output (e.g all of the Booleans are false) is for zero-length arrays on f1 and f2 and this is getting enqueued and overwrites any real data that might have been in test.wav.
It should be possible to append to a .wav. I have attached a proposed method. Caution that this in your consumer will take longer and longer as the file grows as it needs to read in the file every time.

Erasing ALL data from iPad - Is it possible to retrieve info?

Hi there,
I have a quick question.
When erasing all content and settings from the iPad to sell it, is it possible to retrieve the lost data at all? (With any high tech data retrievel software or something magical)
I want to be 100% that if I restore the iPad to factory settings there is NO WAY that someone will be able to get my personal info back. (Even it comes down to removing the SSD from the iPad and using a special tool or something)

100%? No, of course not. You can never be assured 100% of anything. If the FBI/NSA were interested in you, and wanted to extract information from your iPad, they would probably have a jolly good try, and would possibly be able to retrieve information. High-level law enforcement agencies tend to have these tools. If you think you might fall into a group of people who such agencies might be interested in, it's almost certainly worth the $700 for you just to smash your iPad to tiny bits with a hammer rather than sell it on.
If not, though ... no, a random Joe you sell your iPad onto won't be able to retrieve your data once you securely wipe it. 256-bit AES encryption is even used and recommended by the US government:

How do I go about saving ALL data on an imac running 10.5.8 and wipe the harddrive and install an new OSX

I have an old imac running OSX 10.5.8 which for various reasons was never updated further
Processor is 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
memory 2 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM
It has iphoto 08 7.1.5 (378)
I also have a macbook Pro. Running OSX 10.7.5
Processor 2.4 GHz intelCore i5
memory 4GB 1333 Mhz DDR3
This one runs iphoto 11 v 9.2.3 (629.52)
On Both these Machines I want to save all the files and particularly the photos to an external hard drive. I can do the files etc but having problems with iphoto. I want a complete functional copy of both libraries in iphoto and I want to be able to access it and pick and choose which ones I want to use but not STORE on a new Macbook. I want to access the photos from several machines and just browse through them.
Then .. once I have a proper copy of everything I want to reformat the old imac and install the newest OSX it will run given its Processor etc. any advice on which OSX it can cope with?
Also possibly upgrade the macbook pro , so that they talk to each other properly, will access icloud and will also both be compatible with a new macbook pro running Yosimite...
But I want to be able to pick and choose which files I move to the new macbook. Both photos and general filing.
This may be easy for an expert but I am not an expert, I am reasonably competent.. but definitely not an expert and I don't want to mess up and lose stuff.

Aggregate mapping not saving all data

Ok, this is the first time I have seen this problem. I am using Toplink 10.1.3.1 and I have an Altitude object, which is an aggregate which contains Integer alt and some enumerations for different types of altitudes. Upon persisting, I see that the enumerated types get persisted correctly, but the alt Integer goes into the database as null. What could be any possible reasons for this?

Ok, I have seemed to get closer to what may be the problem. The structure we have is sort of like this:
FlightPlan
Altitude altitude - Altitude is mapped as aggregate
FlightModel - Mapped as aggregate, with option set that can be null
FlightModel
int altitude - Mapped as read-only (this value should be the same as in the FlightPlan's altitude object)
List model - One-to-many with the model
If we happen to have the altitude object set in the FlightPlan, but we have a null FlightModel, then a null is the altitude in the database. But if I go and unmap the altitude in the FlightModel class, then upon persisting, the altitude in the database is as it should be and is not null.

Hosts on separate vlans communicate with each other through routing, as they are not in the same broadcast domain. Some of the systems you mention use a wide range of ports and, depending on system and installed version, documentation is generally available.

You need to download and install iTunes 10.3 on your desktop. Log in to your iTunes account.
On the left side of iTunes is an entry under STORE called "Purchased". Click on it, and a list of everything you bought opens in the right window. There's a button at bottom left "Download Previous Purchases".
Note: Until iTunes 10.3 and iCloud beta you could not do this. You would NOT have been able to get your music back. Please use iTunes to back up your iPhone, or you risk losing everything.
And to anticipate a possible response: the pre-10.3 situation was NOT an Apple decision - ti was because the music corporations would not allow re-downloading.

Something has gone wrong, on an iPhone 3Gs the erase all operation should be instantaneous. Disconnect your phone & force it into recovery mode:
Turn your phone off. Leave the USB cable connected to your computer, but NOT your phone, iTunes running, press & hold the home button while connecting the USB cable to your dock connector, continue holding the home button until you see “Connect to iTunes” on the screen. You may now release the home button. iTunes should now display that it has detected your phone in recovery mode, if not quit and reopen iTunes. If you still don’t see the recovery message repeat these steps again. iTunes will give you the option to restore from a backup or set up as new. In your case, select "new".

The Apple techs are looking. But they can't find it. Nor can they find a back up on my laptop, Evidently when I backed up my Iphone to computer the calendar wasn't syncing. Since I only use the calander on my phone - I never noticed.
The Apple store rep that sold me the I-Phone 5 on Monday, was transferring my contacts and calendar thru I-Cloud (I never used I-Cloud before that moment - and always had it turned off). He successfully transferred the contacts - which are still on my phone), but the Calendar weirdly split into 6 calendars (2 of which were linked to my G-Mail which only had a few entries) (4 were linked to my MSN / Hotmail email and contained all the major events/data). I never created calendars that were separate or liked them to 2 different emails. I just typed entries into the I-Phone calendar. However, the calendar did exist on the new I-Phone for 24 hours. Something happened during transfer. When the Apple Genius Bar tech was attempting to back up my Calendar & merge the 6 calendars, everything disappeared in his hand while he was looking at it.
I am hoping that some really good data recovery expert exists that can restore the calendar that was in both I-Phones yesterday. It is completely devastating if I can't recover it.
Any help, or referrals, is great appreciated!!!!
