Saving apple loops

What's up. I can not find my apple loops in the browser. i'm saving it in the wrong place. i believe it's going to my documents folder. How do I save my loops in the write place

> whenever I save apple loops they end up in ~/Library/Audio/Apple Loops/User Loops/
Same here... It doesn't matter where they actually are, as long as you know the location, in case you'd have to re-index them. And, even if you didn't know, you could still gather your sheep by performing, in Finder: command-F, a search for the "creator" attribute, with "stlu" as the value field.

I can't seem to make an apple loop that would get saved with the current projects tempo....i recorded a single bar midi drum loop with 130 as project tempo but when i save it as an apple loop it gets saved with a tempo of 92bpm. strange thing is when i drag the same loop back on a instrument track it plays at the current tempo i.e., at 130bpm but if i drag it to an audio track it plays at 92bpm... really stuck here....any help would be greatly appreciated..thanx..

ok now i have got half of the problem solved....i had left the "follow tempo" region parameter ticked....so now when i unticked it the loop follows the project tempo....but i dont understand y does the loops get saved with a tempo of 92 whereas the project tempo is 130bpm....moreover when i audition these loops they don't really LOOP while playin back....

    hello everyone,
I have moved the original apple loops to a seperate hard drive from my system drive dragged them into the loop broswer and selected the current location option, but if I create my own apple loops they are placed in the original location on the system drive, has anyone any ideas on how to get around this?

  • HT200183 If I wanted to include apple loops in the assets of Logic project folders that are part of a tutorial available for download on a paid educational website would that be ok?

If I wanted to include apple loops in the assets of Logic project folders that are part of a song that follows a tutorial available for download on a paid educational website would that be ok? No one would be paying for the file itself that's part of the membership. I don't want to get into any copyright problems. I understand that they are royalty free and you can include them in your music no problem but the individual loops would be in the audio folder if I saved all the assets to the project file.
Also, would it be ok to include screen shots I take myself of apple programs in my downloadable content?
Just trying to figure out exactly how I should go about it to avoid any legal issues.

My gut reaction is that you may well run into © issues if you re-distribute the original AppleLoops. If your customers are paying for the training, they are also paying for the content you provide, so I feel that you would be re-selling the loops.
Given that anyone who has a copy of Logic would likely have installed all the loop content, there should be no need to distribute them with the project files. Alternatively, make your own loops.

  • Converting Acid Apple Loops -great App.!!!

Sample Manager does this perfectly! Once your Acid .wav files are converted to 44.1kHz aif Apple Loops with correct tempo & beat information, you can then load the files into the Apple Loops Utility for batch or individual tagging (genre/Instrument etc.). Once this is done & you've saved the results, you will have a new set of Apple Loops which you can drag onto the Loop Browser and they will be indexed perfectly.
Really, really useful. If you're not on Tiger yet-I'm not either- the Panther version of Sample Manager does the job with no problems. You might have to repair permissions before resaving the files if they came from a sample CD or commercial source (as they probably will).

STLU is that is places the loops in a folder entitled "Converted to Aiff"
I honestly didn't find that an issue. The folder was created within the folder which had contained the bunch of loops (AFAIR). And since the loops were now tagged, all I was doing was dropping them into the loop browser where they were sorted, searchable, and fully accessible.
Then again, this was not much more than an experiment well over a year and a half ago <shrug>

  • Tempo setting when creating Apple Loops (Utility)

Having chopped a long audio file (drum track) into exact bar/beat settings, saved as separate audio files, I'm having trouble with tempo settings when creating Loops in Apple Loops Utility.
The problem is that after saving a looped file (from the Utility), upon loading that loop file into the Utility again, the (interpreted) tempo of the file is now doubled, which really screws up playback and placement of the loop file.
For example, my original tempo is 72bpm. I save the files as Looping, with the correct number of beats for each file (4 for a 1 bar file, 8 for 2 bars, etc.), and the tempo in the info section on the right side of the Utility correctly shows 72bpm. After saving the file as a loop, and then opening it again in the Utility, suddenly the tempo shows 144, and playback is at half speed.
Oddly, I was able to successfully do this to another track from a song at a faster tempo. In that case, the loop files open as expected. And I'm using exactly the same process this time... humm???
How can I get around this?

    Hi, thanks for the tip.
In this case, I have not added the loop to the loop library. Therefore it is not in the browser.
If I drag it from the audio bin, however, sometimes it will work. Other times it does not. I cannot seem to find a "cause and effect" here.
    Thanks.
What version of Logic are you running. It works fine for me on Logic 9.1.3 in 32-bit mode. I seem to remember having the same problem as you're experiencing in Logic 8.0.2

  • Why doesn't Logic recognize my loop as an Apple Loop

I have challenges with getting LPX to recognize my wav > aiff file as a bona fide apple loop that I can then stretch tempos.
I have a drum brushes loop that I exported in WIN7/Audition, saved as wav and moved over the my mac. Then I dragged it into LPX, found the correct exact tempo manually (60bpm) in order to make an Apple Loop. Couldn't do it with the wav so saved it as an aiff from within LPX. LPX sees the "tempo information" (not really) and then was able to drag into Apple Loops browser, still, didn't create the tempo meta data or whatever it does to allow me to stretch it. I drag the re-indexed loop on an audio track and it's juts the same 60 bpm loop. Changing my global tempo does not alter the tempo of the loop.
Appreciate any help it getting another 10 bpm outta this thing for a project. Took forever to find a decent ballad drum with brushes!
    thanks

OK that works insofar as it saves the file with no issues and I can drag into the track area (does say there is time data to import- "YES") but it doesn't change with global tempo changes.
Also maybe there is a problem with the index? I deleted the other attempts from User Loops >SingleFiles folder but LPX still is searching for the file at every index.
    So two problems now:
index still looks for older files
ALU is saving but LPX not changing tempo of Apple Loop
I read the manual re: file type.
The File Type tag determines if an application treats a file as a looping or non-looping file. Looping files are matched to the project tempo and key— if the Key tag is set to a value other than None. Non-looping files are not matched to the project tempo or key. (Untagged files added to a project are treated as non-looping.)
When I choose "Looping" in ALU, it changes the sound drastically which although would give tempo stretch, is probably ties to it thinking it's 120 bpm (and not 60)?
Yet it was recorded at 60 bpm.
The catch-22 is that the ALU can't recognize my tempo and if I change it (via choosing "looping", the only way to correct the beats btw) it messes with the sound because it's twice as fast.
Otherwise, as a non-loop, I'm stuck with only 60 bpm (even though it has "time data" to import)

  • 3rd Party Apple Loops folder hierarchy

I had a number of Apple Loop libraries saved at ~/Library/Audio/Apple Loops. When my internal MacBook Pro hard drive got full I moved the Apple Loops folder to an external hard drive. I then reindexed these loops by dragging the apple loops folders from their new home on my external drive (eg Jason'S External/Apple Loops/Brazilian Beats) to the Loop Browser in Logic Pro 8.
Now my loop browser just shows me the name of the whole sample library (eg Brazilian Beats) but no longer breaks them down in to the useful sub folders the library was previously organised in to when it sat on my internal drive (eg Brazilian Beats>Samba>130bpm)...it now just shows the Brazilian Beats folder in the Loop Browser View drop-down) and then I have to search through the 3000 loops in the Brazilian Beats library to find a specific loop I know falls in Brazilian Beats>Samba>130bpm
Is this because my loops have to be in my library folders for them to display this sub folder feature or are the loop libraries on my external drive not properly indexed yet and if so how do I rectify this please?

You need to open Logic and click on the "Media" tab (upper right in your main window), then click on "Loops". You are now in the loop browser and this is where you have to drag and drop your loops for them to be found by Logic.

  • Adding apple loops?

    Hi guys,
Wonder if you can help me with this.
I have a few Big Fish sample cd's that have apple loops on them, is there a way I can add them so they show up in the logic apple loops browser in the appropriate section?
Where would I need to copy them? I have all my samples on an external hd so would it be possible to reference them to show up in the browser??
    Many thanks in advance.

    Hello,
I am having trouble making my own apple loops and am hoping someone can helo: When I highlight an audio region in the arrange window, use the "add to apple loops library" under the local region command, the loop shows up in the apple loops browser, but it is an empty audio region when i drag into the arrange window to an audio track. when i drag a midiloop into the browser, it seems to work out fine, and i can create a green apple loop, but not with audio. i've noticed, that the loops are saved under users/library/apple loop/user loops/single files, but even when i try to import the audio files from this folder as audio into the arrange window or audio window, they still come up as empty files. can anyone tell me what i'm doing wrong?
    thanks in advance.

  • GarageBand '11 (6.0.5) How to reinstall MagicGB & Apple Loop Package?

    Alright,
Up until the newest update to OSX Mavericks (10.9) I was able to use Magic Garageband & Apple Loops Library with the free added content that it prompted me the first time I used it, which was about 1.5 gigs of content it downloaded directly from Apple. Now since the clean install of the new OS on both my late 2012 Mac Book Pro and late 2012 Mac Mini (both are drive free versions so they came with no discs), I no longer have either of these features in GarageBand '11 (6.0.5).
Does anyone know how to reinstall/download them?
Garage band used to download them automatically the first time I started up the software but now Magic Garageband has nothing in it and I get a popup anytime I open a new project saying "Please reinstall the Apple Loop Package".
Is anyone else having this isssue?
How would I go about fixing it?
    Thanks in Advance,
    Michael Jos Moore
    @mooremichaelcom

The saved effects are stored in your User Library - you need to uninstall it.
Quit GarageBand, if it is running.
Open your User Library and open the folder
    ~/Library/Application Support/GarageBand/Instrument Library/Plug-In Settings/Compressor/
Remove the setting you just created and saved from the "Compressor" folder.
Restart your Computer. (Don't skip this step - it is necessary in Mavericks).
Your User library is hidden by default since MacOS X 10.7.  Lion.
Select the "Home" folder icon (the little house)  in the Finder's sidebar and press the key combination ⌘J to open the "view options".
    Enable "Show Library Folder".

  • Updating GB 4.1.2 and Apple Loops

    Updating GB 4.1.2 and Loops
Most of the apple loops are missing from my Garage Band which came with a new MacMini. When I clicked Software Update - the Garageband updates showed a lot of apple loops, etc included. However, when I started to download it said it would take 4 HOURS! Is this normal for DSL?? Is there a way I can just get some of the loops and whatever necessary "bug fixes" there are, without downloading 4 hours??
Is there a way to edit the existing loops and saving them?? How?? I tried to put a loop into the screen that shows waveforms, but cannot figure how to cut it (say from 8 measures 4) and then save to a file. When I found some loops outside GB, they appeared to be all in QuickTime format, which would not open in GB. I'm really confused.
    Does GB open WAV files??

For the first part you need to use the DVD option to download the loops: http://www.bulletsandbones.com/GB/FAQPages/NoLoops.html

after dragging some apple loops onto arrange page. i'm getting this error message." audio file "drone Bellos 01 .caf hasn't got sufficient access privilidges so the overview canot be saved. any ideas why this is happening?
    thanks

Yes, some of the Apple loops are protected (Jobs knows why). You can change this by searching the file in the finder with spotlight, then hit apple+i->menue opens->click into the lock->set your permissions to "read and write"->done. Unfortunately this procedure has to be performed seperately for each protected loop.

  • Cannot Save my Audio Files as Apple Loops in Logic 8

Everytime I click save it says "Check Destinations drive available Space".
This happens EVERY TIME I try to save one of my own audio file as an Apple Loop!
"Save As" works fine. Im not the only person asking this... Anyone? Appreciate any help...

I just checked this on my older PPC (Dual 2 G5) system, as I thought it was still working... Well, yep, it is working on that system, but not on either of my Intel Logic rigs (Macbook Pro and Jan08 8 core).
