Saving as a JPEG..... I think

Hi guys, Im relatively new to this but I normally get on ok with it as well as the help menu but I just cant find wht Im looking for this tim.
I have downloaded a QR code from qrstuff (if that matters) that I am trying to upload to facebook. FB wont allow it to be uploaded so I can only assume it is in the wrong file format and given that a JPEG always seems to work I decided to open up Photoshop and save it as a JPEG.
Simple, normally, but the JPEG option has gone and only reappears if I select TIFF ( I think) but then the option for JPEG is there but greyed out.
I have tried every option and it wont upload to FB so I want to get it as a JPEG

Does the file have a bmp extension after its name?
Normally it's possible to use "Save As" or "Save for Web" then select jpeg.
Otherwise you may need to convert the file to jpeg using Microsoft Paint. If you are using Windows try going to the folder and right click on the file and choose open with Paint.
Click on File and choose "Save As" Select Save As Type and choose jpg. Select a location to save the file to and click Save.

I think my Word 2013 might have a bug. When i enter text into either the 'title' field or the 'description' field, the text does not move over or wrap around so that i can fully see what i've entered. i wonder if this is impacting the carry-over into the pdf file?
the company I work for does not 'officially' support this version of Word, as i am an 'early adoptor' of this version. until the rest of the company moves to this version, i'm kinda on my own. i am going to see who i can speak with to see about getting an update, though. maybe that will fix the problem.

Saving files in .jpeg - Photoshop Elements 10

I suddenly got problems with saving files in .jpeg format. I use camera raw in my camera, and edit photos in Element, and then save a .jpeg version of the photo, and until recently that operation has went on without problems, but suddenly I got no other alternatives than .psd. Why?

Hi,
Most likely reason is that the image is in 16 bit format not 8 bit - a JPG can only support 8 bit formats.
Try changing the mode: Image -> Mode -> 8 bits/channel
If you use RAW images, you can set the colour depth when yo first open the image (see center of window at the bottom).

Save/Export them as JPG. Photoshop defaults to PSD, so make sure you select JPG and not just rename the file to .jpg.
There are two ways to save them as JPG: Regular Save as option or Save for Web & Devices
Take your pick.

Cannot print to PDF file after saving it to JPEG

I get the following error when I try to print to a .pdf file that I just saved to a .jpeg.
"Adobe PDF" cannot access the file because it is in use by another applicaiton or process:
C:\Users\<username>\Desktop\junk.pdf
Verify that the file is not open by another application or process and try again.
I am using Acrobat X Pro on x64 Win 7.
Here are the steps I take to produce this error:
1. Print any file to the "Adobe PDF" printer
2. Save that .pdf file as a .jpeg
3. Close JUST that particular .pdf file while leaving Acrobat X up (clicking the small black x on the top right).
4. Try to print any other file to "Adobe PDF" with the same name as the .pdf file I just closed.
I do not get the error if I do not save to .jpeg, or when I close Acrobat X completely, but the user who is complaining about this error keeps multiple .pdf files open and doesn't want to have to close Acrobat X out completely every time.
Any ideas?

Thanks Pat. Tried each, restarted computer each time; tried the "Accept" routine several days ago - it worked briefly and then stopped. Uninstalled Reader and Flash as well. Strange thing with Flash, one of my online broker programs provides streaming of CNBC. When I clicked on the CNBC option to initiate CNBC, I got a message saying that I needed to load Flash. I did, and it loaded again with no mention of Flash having already been installed.
Using Internet Explorer works, as well as, clicking on the .pdf file within Windows Explorer (WE). Expanding the window in WE makes it large enough to read. I would still like to find a way to open the files as they are designed to open.
I have done all of the Adobe updates as they have been presented. Microsoft updates load automatically, and restart my computer in the process. I do not look to see what the updates have been. I figure if there was not a need, Microsoft would not make the updates.

"There was not enough memory" error message when saving DNG and Jpeg

PC/Windows XP Pro. Pentium 4/2Gb RAM.
I am constantly getting memory errors when trying to save batches of images from ACR4 either as Jpegs or DNGs.
A couple of images in to the batch a small window appears with a list of the files and next to each of them is the line: "There was not enough memory."
These are 220Mb TIFF files that are processed in Hasselblad's Flexcolor on the same computer. I can process an entire folder full (sometimes 50 images) without a hitch in Flexcolor, but Bridge/ACR4 and CS3 can't handle any reasonable number of images.
Could it be something in my settings? For the record, they are:
In Bridge, under Edit/Preferences/Camera RAW preferences, Camera Raw Cache is set to 10Gb. Jpeg and Tiff handling boxes are both ticked.
Under Edit/Preferences/Cache, Cache Size slider is slightly over half way to the right.
In addition, I have CS3 pointed to a formatted 500GB scratch disk all to itself.
And CS3's RAM is set to 80%.
Finally, this computer is used for nothing else except image editing.
Any ideas?

If you mean by "Public Beta", did I download the 10.4Mb plug-in (as per John Cornicello's link above) and install it at Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-Ins\CS3\File Formats in place of the old plug-in, then yes.
I always run ACR4 via Bridge, never via CS3. CS3 always comes after conversion in my workflow. Also, I like to give Bridge/ACR a free run of available resources. Nothing else is ever open when I'm running them.
In CS3 under Edit/Preferences/File Handling, under Image Previews I selected 'Never Save'. Not sure if this affects ACR though.
Also, as per the suggestion in the article referred to in my last post, I removed the tilde ~ to activate the Bigger Tiles plug-in. CS3's memory % is now set @ 90%.
The only thing I haven't done is to activate the Microsoft 3Gb switch. I can't find instructions that are clear enough. Also, it may be that it makes no difference when running Vista 64bit, as I am.
For what it's worth, with these fine tunings, CS3 now executes the Retouch Artist's Speedtest in 20 seconds, a shade faster than before. This is extremely fast, so my setup should not be the problem here. I hope! ;-)
Finally, is there any point in trying LR? Or is its file saving/cache setup the same as ACR's?
Thanks for taking an interest in my case. I'm very happy to be a guinea pig since I will constantly have to process large numbers of files and I'd like to overcome this problem

Colour changes when saving images as JPEGS/PNGS in Photoshop CS6

When I save my .PSD files as .JPEGS the colour of the images change drastically.
I never experienced this issue in CS 5 or 5.5, and am only experiencing it now as I just switched over to CS6.

What are your Edit > Color Settings, do you embed the profile on saving, in which application do you observe the change, …?

Photoshop CS4 "Freezes" when saving as a JPEG

I have been using Photoshop CS4 with SnowLeopard and my MacPro for months now without a problem. I save multiple images everyday, often as JPEGs for the Web. But today, out of the blue with nothing changing (no new updates, or plugins), Photoshop "locks up" when saving a JPEG. I can still move the curser arrow, but everything is dead and the file did not save. I have to hit ESC just to get PS back online. I can save other file types, no problem.
Has anyone experienced this? Any help or solutions? I have the latest version of PS CS4.
(Note: If I go under Save for Web & Devices I can save it as a JPEG, but seems like an less than timely run-around)

I have not experienced that problem, but with all unexplainable Photoshop-problems You might try trashing the prefs (after making sure all customized presets like Actions, Patterns, Brushes etc. have been saved and making a note of the Preferences You’ve changed) by pressing command-alt-shift on starting the program or starting from a new user-account.
System Maintenance (repairing permissions, purging PRAM, running cron-scripts, etc.) might also be beneficial.

Preview - saving resized CMYK JPEGs

I can't save a resized CMYK JPEG with Preview:
Take a JPEG, any JPEG.
Duplicate it, make an RGB and a CMYK version (create whichever one did not already exist) using
GraphicConverter or a similar tool.
Open each in Preview and use "Adjust Size..." to adjust the resolution.
Save. RGB version saves fine. CMYK version fails with "The document 'CMYK.jpg' could not be saved."
Can anyone confirm or deny?

Saving raw in jpeg not enough memory (in Camera raw)

Hello I am using Camera raw with following config:
AMD Athlon II x2 245 processor 2.90 GHz RAM:4,00 Go 32 bits
I know that it is not enough especially in Ram but I am not alone in this case. So very often I have to close Camera raw because I have got the message not enough memory to continue jpeg conversion (especially on photo with heavy modification :noise etc). It is also because I am saving in JPEG and using at the same time Camera raw to continue my work, some time to time I have 3 or 4 jpeg conversions at the same time. So I found a solution which gives a little bit better results:
I process all my photos with camera raw without saving in Jpeg . When my work is finished I reload each photos with camera raw and immediately without waiting I save it in Jpeg than I close camera raw and reload a new photo and so on. In that case I have less problèms. My suggestion would be or may be it is already possible : saving the the modified raw photo in jpeg directly from bridge without loading them in camera raw and if possible in batch process. a similar system would be good also for lightroom.Thanks for your comments

Random color issue when saving psd as jpeg

Hello, y'all. I finally got these images I'm working on to look right and they are not saving to jpeg correctly. It's very strange because at first only one of them would look right after being saved, and then I got two of them to save right, and now I have just two more before I can be done already and I just can't figure out what to do. They are flattened psd files. They are in the colorspace srgb. They are black and white. They basically look like they are not saving with the last few changes I made in photoshop. While I have them open in photoshop and save them as jpegs, they appear to be identical to the psd file. But when I go to bridge they look incorrect. Same problem as I had before with the other two files when viewing in bridge. But these last two....argh. Can anyone troubleshoot this for me? In the example screenshot, you can see the image on the left is the jpeg, and although it looks fine, it is not consistent with the psd on the right.

If you go into the Edit menu in Bridge and choose "Color Settings", are they synchronized?

Problem saving files as JPEGs after editing them as CR2 files

I took some photos in RAW format and used Photoshop CS2 to make my lighting adjustments (in the Photoshop RAW viewer). For most photos, I just clicked the "Save" button, and I had the option to convert and save the file as JPEG, TIFF, etc. But I had some additional changes to make in Photoshop using layers, so I clicked "Open" first before saving, and worked in the general Photoshop window. But after making my changes, I clicked "Save as" and the long list of file options to choose from was no longer there, and I only had the option of saving the file as: Photoshop, Cineon, Large Document Format, Photoshop PDF, Photoshop Raw, PNG, TIFF. I really need to save it as a JPEG, but it is not one of the options. I have flattened all the layers, and am working in RGB color mode.
If anyone could help me understand why I can't save this as a JPEG, I would really appreciate it! Thanks!

Convert the files from 16 bit to 8 bit and you be able to save your jpeg.

Saving pictures as jpeg in photoshop

Loading up pictures into Photoshop from Aperture is easy, But when i save these pictures then as Jpegs, Aperture will not find them. Photoshop uses the same folder as before, displaying them in the way Aperture named them when you do a "save as". But after that Aperture cannot find them. Does anybody know how I can tell Aperture that there now is a jpeg picture in its folders?

O.K., so your problem is
that you want the new master file to be a jpeg, to save storage, and
that you cannot reimport the jpeg file exported by Photoshop, because Photoshop is saving the JPEG inside the Aperture Library, but does not recognize it, because of the jpeg-format.
To be able to import the resulting jpeg, you need to set the directory in the "Save as" dialogue to a different directory, to only change the file extension is not sufficient. Select the folder that you want to save to from the selector at the top of the file chooser panel (below the File Name) or from the Sidebar. The settings in the screenshot below will save your image to the "Pictures" folder, from there you can reimport it to the Aperture Library.

How do I edit an illustrator file saved as a jpeg?

I have an assignment I'm working on, in my color theory class. I saved the file for web, but I didn't save the illustrator file as a copy to edit. Is there a way i can edit the original image, and reopen the layers?

So you exported the file from the Save for Web dialog and then closed the AI file without saving? If that was the workflow, then there is nothing you can do except recreate the file.
