Saving as .cr2 in cs6

I'm having a problem after I send a file to cs6 from lightroom 4 and edit it, cs6 wants to save the file as a .tif or .psd. I would like to send it back to lightroom as a .cr2 file. Is this possible?

No, you can't save a CR2 file.
You may be able to coordinate changes with both apps to the metadata XMP file - meaning you may be able to tweak the development settings in Camera Raw, press [Done], and have Lightroom see those, but you can't do proper edits inside Photoshop and make Lightroom aware of those. The two apps don't work the same way. Lightroom can only set the development metadata and while Photoshop can do that too, once you open the file into Photoshop proper it changes pixels, adds layers, etc. and the file must be saved as a PSD or other format.
I don't use Lightroom, just Photoshop myself. I hope someone who uses both will comment on their soup to nuts workflow and how they save edited files.

That's why people do incremental saves and use backups... You could try to open the file in an image viewer like IrfanView and see which parts are salvagable, but that's as good as it gets most likely...

Saving my design in CS6 is now corrupted - please help!

Hello,
I saved a design in CS6 which recorded the save as 100% completed.
However when I now open the document I get an image of a red line (left screen shot).
I have also tried to open this in Fireworks and the preview is correct (right screen shot) but when it opens in full I get the red line again.
Does any one know what the issue is and whether this is retrievable as this design is the accumalation of two days work?

It doesn't sound promising. I can see it was saved as a PSD, in which case I believe the preview is an embedded JPG, so not necessarily indicative of the file integrity. Does its file size on the HDD tally with what you’d expect?
It also looks like you are using Windows. Is that right, and if so, what version?

Animated GIF problem saving for web in CS6

I made an animated gif in CS6 and trying to save it for the web. The duration of the animation is pretty long, about 44 seconds. After 17 seconds the animation stops while the saving was completed. How can I solve this problem? The file is too large to attach (725 x 225 px) unfortunately.
Please give me some advice;-)

Yopu probably exceed the GIF specs and generate too many frames.
How many frames are possible?

Saving files in Photoshop CS6 Extended (Mac)

I just got Photoshop CS6 Extended (Mac) and am unable to save files (eg .psd) as a .jpg -- if I select the JPEG option, although that is ticked, it appears in the filename above as .gif or .eps WHY?? Also, why do I have to select 'Enable' and scroll down a huge list to 'All Readable Documents' before I can open, say, a JPEG? I've never had to do this in previous versions (and I've been using PS since v.2 -- not CS2 -- !) I am in RGB and 8-bit and the images are flattened. This is most frustrating. . .

Restoring/trashing the Preferences can alleviate some unexplainable Photoshop problems, but make sure all customized presets like Actions, Patterns, Brushes etc. have been saved before performing that routine.

PDF Saving issue in Illustrator CS6 (Mac)

I have trouble saving Acrobat 4 compatible PDF files in Illustartor CS6. The problem does not affect every file I try to save, but when saving from AI to PDF, heavier files tend to be hard to save. I select the "Save as" option, click PDF, choose my location, then in the dialog with the settings I choose the ones I need and hit enter. A progress bar appears and after a while it freezes on about 80% and never moves further. I am running Illustrator CS6 on a MacBook Pro Retina, 2.6 GHz quad-core Intel Core i7, 8 GB RAM, OS X Mountain Lion. I have tried reinstalling Illustrator, saving to a different location and changing the settings. the only thing that worked for me was saving a Acrobat 5 or 6 compatible file, but this is not a solution, since I need the Acrobat 4 compatibility for a client. You can open the PDF in Acrobat and save to Acrobat 4 compatibility, either through optimize or preflight. I would also ask the client why they want Acrobat 4 compatibility.

Need help saving layer styles Photoshop CS6 Extended for Mac (Mountain Lion)

I have been trying to learn Photoshop. I am using Photoshop CS6 Extended on a Macbook Pro (Mountain Lion). My Adobe software has been updated. I have been doing tutorials using a lot of layer styles. In one of these tutorials, it was suggested that if I would possibly want to use the style again that I should save it. At this point I had entered all my layer styles info and was still in the window with the list of layer styles on the left (bevel and emboss, drop shadow, etc., and the "New Style" button on the right. I clicked on the "New Style" button and when another window popped up asking me to name the style, I named it. When I looked at my styles in the styles panel, I saw the little button for the new style. I saved my graphic and closed it. Later I wanted to apply this style to text in another graphic. The style was used on text originally. When I clicked on it though the style didn't look the same. Upon investigation, a couple of setting under Bevel and Emboss had reverted to defaults. They were different numbers when I saved the style. I could go back in and change these two numbers and get the same results, but I don't understand why these numbers changed on their own -- why the style didn't completely "save." Is there something I have done wrong, or is this some kind of bug? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance!

Thank you very much for your reply! Yes, both documents were at 72 resolution. This morning I tried to save yet another style (same resolution document). It worked when I used it the first time. Then I switched to the other style I had saved. That one took some of the bevel and emboss settings from this morning's style. The numbers which will not save are the angle and altitude under the shading section. Just now I made another document (text at 72 resolution) and both styles had changed these numbers to 120 and 30. Is this something I am doing wrong? I am trying to use text of a similar font and size. I updated my software last night in the hopes that that would help. This morning I reset preferences. Don't know what to do! Thanks for helping me!

Saving a PDF in CS6, opening in CS5

How can I save a PDF in CS6 and open in CS5 and still have editing capabilities?

I don't think there are version options when saving as a pdf, but as you may know you can save ai documents for previous versions. Have you tried opening a pdf created in CS6 in CS5?

Problem Saving in After Effects CS6

I am currently working on a project in After Effects CS6 that is no more than 40 seconds. Yet, when I try to save the project, After Effects will not respond. As a result, I must force quit the application and restart it. I believe it is a problem with the file because I have worked on different projects instead and they will save with no problem - ones that are much longer than 40 seconds! Not sure if it is a problem with my ram or memory, but I checked both and they all seem like they shouldn't be a result of the problem. Please help.

There are no error messages.
When this problem occured was whenever I tried to save the project. I was not able to save my changes since.
I have never had a problem with it until now. All my other projects are saving correctly but this one seems to freeze up whenever I do try to save it no matter what change I have addressed.
I currently have Quicktime Player Version 10.2
I do not run any other software but Finder and/or Adobe Bridge CS6 while I am in After Effects.
I have a few plug-ins installed to After Effects but they have not affected any computer performance or created saving issues.
My computer is a MacBook Pro 13-inch, mid 2012. It has a 2.9 GHz Intel Core i7 processor along with 8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3 memory/ram. It has Intel HD Graphics 4000 512 MB and 373.99 free gigs of space. However, I noticed that over 280 of my 750gig hard drive are videos, a majority from After Effects. It would be nice to know how to perform a disc cleanup so I could perhaps solve the problem through that option. I have no external hard drives nor are any connected.
I have no third-party hardware involved.
I am not aware that I am using OpenGL to render my clips.
This problem only occurs when saving my project on this .aep file only!
I have tried emptying my disk and audio cache which has not helped ... I hope I will not have to re-install After Effects because that is the last thing I would want to do.

Saving INDB files in CS6

I have spent the whole day fixing small problems with a CS4 INDB opened in CS6
1) Can't save changes: I had a problem with one word of text that had slipped to the wrong side of a text wrapped box. Fixed the problem and saved. When I re-opened the document (through the book pallette) the fix was gone and the problem back. This happened not once but four times!!
Fianally seemed to have solved the problem by re-nameing the file and replacing it into the INDB file.
2) After working on the file, when I close any of the documents using Save (not Save As) I'm asked if I want to overwrite the original file. Never seen this before in ID, what is going on. I though that Save automatically over wrote the ixisting file of the same name?
It is all probably very simple... but any help would be great.

When you open a legacy file ID will automatically convert it to the new format, and then ask for a Save AS the first time to prevnet accidentally overwriting the original (which I hope you have not done -- once overwritten you can't get the CS4 version back).
I've seen some other problems with trying to convert books -- spent the weekend reconstructing one that was fine in CS5 and is crashing in CS6. My personal opinion is that you should not try to migrate a book unless there is need for new feaures in the new version, but I know that it isn't always practical. Next best thing, again in my opinion, is to export your CS4 files to .inx, then open each of those in CS6, save as with new names (don't destroy the CS4 versions), then create a brand new .indb file and add the new .indd files to it.

How do I open CR2 in CS6?

My MBP is running OS X 10.6.8 with installed registered version of Production Premium CS6.
In previous forum threads (a couple months ago) there were similar issues w/ inability of opening CR2 in Bridge 5.0.2.4 and Camera Raw 7.0.0.308, and these people were seemingly helped with a link to a Camera Raw plug-in download...then placing that plug-in in the appropriate folder on your hard disk.
I follow this link (from the forum threads) and it's dead: Error 404, This page cannot be found. You know the one.
Does anyone know where I can find this update? (yes, I've gone through the standard software updates--and everything claims to be up-to-date)

From LR 4.3, saved edits in Photoshop CS6 not changing in LR (when running an Action)

From Lightroom 4.3, I am editing to Photoshop CS6 and able to make my edits and adjustments with a couple of Nik Software plugins running in an Action. The Action saves correctly and the changes are visible in Photoshop. When I switch back to Lightroom, the changes did not save.
However, when I try to do the same thing and replicate the steps of the Action manually, the changes do save correctly and they are visible in Lightroom.
This same action worked perfectly fine before I updated to LR4.3. The Action is key to my workflow, and not being able to use it significantly slows me down.
Is there a workaround known?

Thanks for that detail. When I looked at my Action, it indeed was a <save as> command. So I re-recorded the Action, and recorded <save>, but in the Action, it still shows up as a <save as> recorded entry. I don't seem to be able to edit the entry to make it just a <save>.
Some additional detail, the <save as> that was recorded specifies that it be saved as a PSD format, and it also specifies a distinct filename and location. When I created a Droplet, and ran it on several files, they were all saved to that same filename.
Any further suggestions?

How to solve problem saving from cloud to CS6

AS a student I have the CC version, but once I go to my "cheap" college (MATC) the files I have saved on cloud won't open? is there a solution to this? or should I got to UVU a university that has money? hahah

Are you saying you already own CS6, but use CC at school?
The easy answer -- backsave to CS6. Collect files to keep projects together.
You gotta love how Adobe treats schools & students. I think you can scrape the answer off the bottom of your shoe.

Background saving via script? CS6/CC?

Any suggestions out there for getting script to save a file, in the background?
When you have your preferences set ON to Edit > Preferences > File handling > Save In Background, and you save a file by selecting File > SaveAs   ... the file saves in the background so you can continue working. Great!
...BUT...
When you do that same action via script... activeDocument.saveAs() I get an annoying progress bar, which inhibits being able to work while the save is running.   This makes an autosave script that is supposed to silently run, saving files in the background every few minutes while I work, kinda useless.
Any ideas on how to turn that progress bar dialog off?   So Photoshop behaves the same as if I selected SaveAs in the menu??
I Do have app.displayDialogs = DialogModes.NO; but it seems to do no good.

Yes, I've noticed when I run the save process via ANY other way, (regular action run, DOM ExtendScripted, Action Manger scripted, AS3 CS6) - it always has the progress bar.
This just seems to be one of those things that I just can't do automatically the same way as if you just pushed "Cntrl-S". Save in Background - is a great feature. Now if only it could be done through automation...   Anyone else have any luck?

After Effects CC 2014 - Rendering / saving project file to CS6

Hello all,
I'm writing here to try to understand the st**** decision to exclude mp4 and mpeg from the render possibilities from After Effects CC 2014. I would gladly go back to CS6 but as of now I have more than 40 hours of edited video project in CC 2014, which of course cannot save project files to CS6, which is another brilliant move by somebody in Adobe that has the title position of "the dude for giving ideas to p*** people off". Now the problem is this, if I choose to export just a single clip from my composition of course I cannot export it to a container and codec of my choosing since it cannot be exported to Media Encoder, and has to be done in After Effects or I have to make a composition for each and every file, in order to export it to to the Media Encoder.
Now I ask you good people any way to move my projects back to CS6, remove this unusable piece of software and be over with it, I simply don't have the time to be toying around with Adobe's new found glory for Apple and exporting stuff to QuickTime, taking 3 times longer than mpeg. Tried with OpenSeasame and by just exporting an XML file but none work so if there is any other way please let me know.
Good thing I only got 1 month and didn't pay for the whole year...

Did you use any of the new features in either AE CC (the original one) or CC 2014? If yes, you're kinda stuck.
If no, you'd have to engage in a two-step process: backsave the AE CC 2014 project to AE CC, then open the project in AE CC and backsave to CS6.
