Saving as HTML and ecommerce site

Hi, I was wondering if there was a way to save as an html file like i can save as a pdf file using IWEB.
Also, is there a better program or templates where I can download some ecommerce style frames? cause i noticed that iweb is primarily used for blogs. i can use it to make what i want, but just wondering if there was an easier way that helps me with the type of site i am building.
I am new to apple and webpages.
Thanks

Hi, I was wondering if there was a way to save as an
html file like i can save as a pdf file using IWEB.
If you want access to all the HTML files that iWeb publishes for you, the easiest thing to do would be to use "Publish to Folder" and select a folder on your desktop for iWeb to dump the HTML files into.
Also, is there a better program or templates where I
can download some ecommerce style frames? cause i
noticed that iweb is primarily used for blogs. i can
use it to make what i want, but just wondering if
there was an easier way that helps me with the type
of site i am building.
sboben over at 11mystics.com has had lots of experience tinkering with the templates in iWeb. I would take a gander at her site and see if anything there points you in the right direction for alternate templates.
If any of this information is useful to you, please do me a favor and mark my reply as "solved" or "helpful" using the little buttons that you see in the title bar of this reply. I would appreciate it immensely. Thank you.

I'm not a Mac user, that's my caveat, however there is a button on the ribbon for SharePoint Document Libraries on the Library Tab called Connect To Office.
If that works with Office 2011 you'll start seeing your SharePoint site as a place where you can store documents in Office.
Otherwise, you need to click "New" in teh library itself and have SharePoint open Office for you.

    @Carolyn:
Yes, I did search before but restricted it to the past month, because I had the feeling that it’s worse now since the update to 5.1.10, but I may be wrong.
It seems this is an old and unsolved common problem.
    @andy:
“Top Sites” is hot, but I’ve never used that funny dots without any mouse-over text.
After deleting (before starting Safari)  it’s restored by a default TopSites.plist, it seems these cookies
    - are only reloaded when viewing the Top Sites (?)
    - are not among my reappearing cookies, I have never seen such a cookie / cache on my system before (e.g. expedia, orbitz, monster, usatoday, disney, craigslist).
And Top Sites would not explain why the Web Inspector has different infos regarding use of cookies and local storage than Safari’s “Privacy” tab.
After playing with deleting TopSites.plist, without surfing, suddenly I have ”121 cookies or other data” at Safari’s Privacy tab, nearly all are listed as “Cache” or “Cache, Cookies” but the Web Inspector doesn’t show any of them, only my google.co.uk items.

  • HTML character entities problem in saved regex search and replace query

I have a many search and replace regular expression queries (.dwr files) that I have saved. I have a problem specifically with saved queries that contain HTML entities such as "& nbsp ; " or "& shy ;" (spaces added otherwise code doesn't render in browser). For example if I use the following search:
    ([\d]{3}& shy ;[\d]{3}& shy ;[\d]{4}|[\d]{3}& nbsp ;[\d]{3}& nbsp ;[\d]{4})
(which searches for numbers in the 888-555-1234 or 888 555 1234 formats)
This will work fine if I manually enter it into the search text area. However if I save it to file and reload it, it will no longer work because the and   characters are now displayed as " " (space) and "-"(shy) rendering the saved query useless as it's no longer searching for the code. I have some fairly long and complex queries and this is becoming a problem.
    Thanks for any help.
I'm currently using Dreaweaver CS4 at home and CS5.5 at work.

Thanks for your reply Kenneth, but that is not what I'm trying to accomplish. I'm looking for the HTML entities that exist in the source code which are & shy ; and & nbsp ; (without the spaces). As I mentioned above, if I enter them manually in the search box, I will get the corrrect results. If I save the search and then reload it, the special characters are no longer in HTML and the search is now useless.
    Just for example again
In an open document in code view insert a number in the format (without the spaces): 888& nbsp;888& nbsp ;8888
    Open a search dialog box and enter (without the spaces): [\d]{3}& nbsp ;[\d]{3}& nbsp ;[\d]{4}
The search will find that entry.
Save search as phone.dwr for example. Then load it and try the search again. It won't work because upon loading the search Dreamweaver replaces the HTML code which was saved with the rendered HTML. So now the search shows up as: [\d]{3} [\d]{3} [\d]{4} which will not find the string with hard coded non-breaking spaces that I'm looking for.
Basically I want to be able to save a search query for reuse. When I load a search query, I want it to be exactly what I saved, not something that DW has rendered (that doesn't work).

Check exception list of your Firefox password Manager and check if your site is there or not?

  • Paste HTML from web sites to DW MX

I took this question from a forum but its the same im looking
    for....
"Forgive me if this is an inappropriate forum for this
question, but consulting librarians seemed a good idea when queries
to more technical forums got me nowhere.... )
I suspect I'm overlooking something obvious (such as
"obviously, this can't be done," ) but I can't figure out how to
copy a url from an html document and paste it into the DW Design
View pane without losing the formating! Seems like a simple and
everyday task, but DW just renders everything as plain, unformatted
text when you paste it into the design view editor. (I've included
below the fruitless exchange I had with well-intentioned responders
at a webmaster forum, in case there's any confusion about what it
is I'm looking for....) Thanks, Petter
(earlier - unproductive - traffic on this...)
    response 1:
I think you are looking for shift + ctrl + v
    response 2:
It might seem a retrograde step to have a small Code View
pane open as well as the Design Pane, but there are quite a lot of
    advantages.
Firstly you can paste straight into there instead, and then
click in the Design View to see the changes.
Secondly, there are some things that are easier to do in the
code window - moving Rows of a complicated Table layout (one with
Colspans) is one that I find easier.
    My clarification:
Thank you both for your responses, but I think perhaps I
    haven't explained myself clearly enough...
shift+ctrl+v is simply "paste as text" - it does that, and
also removes line feeds that plain old ctrl+v would retain, but it
does not preserve the format of the copied text.
Pasting directly into Code View won't help either..if you
want to paste into Code View, you must first find the source code
and paste all of it - href tags and all - into Code View.
Let me try to clarify with an example: I want to build a list
of U.S. embassy websites in South Asia. I find a list of all U.S.
    embassy websites at
    http://usembassy.state.gov,
and wish to paste just those in South Asia into my DW document,
retaining the labels (e.g. Afghanistan: Kabul) but also the
underlying urls. As far as I can tell, there's no way of doing this
simply with DW. You can of course view source, copy the relevant
source code into Code View and then edit out whatever you don't
need, or you can add the links one at a time in Design View. DW
will not even recognize labels that are identical with the
underlying url (e.g. "visit our webpage at www.exmaple.com") - the
tags always have to be entered manually in Code View, or via the
Property Inspector tool in Design View.
If you're trying to build a list of links harvested from many
different sources - from other html lists, from urls embedded in
text, and even from the address bar of your browser, this becomes
very cumbersome, but perhaps there is no easier way of doing it in
    DW?
    response 3:
Do a 'save page' to your computer. Open the saved file, cut
and paste into your new document. Also remember it is CSS styles
that define the look so grab the style sheets used in the original
page, you can see the location by looking at the code of the saved
    page.
    My response
Thanks, but as far as I can see, cutting and pasting from a
saved file is no different than c&p from a file on the web; DW
does not recognize the formatting in either case. And even if it
did, this would be a very cumbersome way of building a list of
links if you wanted to borrow selectively from a large assortment
of pages. I suspect what I wish to do is simply not possible in
Dreamweaver, but thanks everyone for all the suggestions!
    response 4:
    I'm starting to understand...
OK - well in Dreamweaver, in the Design Window, you can
select a sentence containing a phrase that is a URL link, and you
can paste it quite happily elsewhere in the Design window, and the
sentence will still contain a phrase that has the URL link behind
    it.
That means that it's not a Dreamweaver problem...
You're right - if on my Mac I copy a sentence containing some
links off (say) the BBC website, and paste them into Dreamweaver, I
just get the text. The Mac clipboard states the content as "text".
Interestingly, when I copy off the Dreamweaver Design window,
the Mac clipboard states the content as text too - I must confess I
    was expecting "styled text".
But I think that's the problem, or at least part of it...
In the same way, I can create links inside AppleWorks, and
cut and paste them to my heart's content within the document, but
as soon as I try to export them, or inport others, I get the same
    problem.
The immediate workaround would seem to be to save the source
webpage to disc, and open it in Dreamweaver, where I feel sure you
could drag and drop from the source file to your target file. "

Browse to the site. View Source. Copy All. In DW, create a
    new page.
Select Code view. Select all. Paste.
Now you have a page with the code, and you have to go after
    the CSS and
images. If you are using DW8, you just have to copy the
    domain from the
address field and adjust all the links from relative to
    absolute.
    That'll do it.
Alternatively, you (in IE/FF) browse to the site, and use
    FILE | Save As...
    > Web Page Complete. Then you open the resulting page in
    DW.

  • First eCommerce site - Business Catalyst or Third Party extension?

    Hi all,
I'm just starting out in freelance web design and I have a thorough knowledge of HTML and CSS and have built numerous sites using dreamweaver previously. I now have a full CC package (and am loving it I must say), but am far more a designer than a developer and thus my knowledge of PHP CF etc. are at the very least limited. I now have a client who is interested in an ecommerce site and I just wondered what approach people would suggest.
From my reading I can see that third party extensions such as cartweaver often rely on PHP or CF and since my knowledge of them is minimal, I had guessed that BC would be the way to go, but if anybody could give me any reasons as to why I could be right or wrong with this, it would be greatly appreciated!

Unless you're familiar with building a CMS, MySql databases, PHP connections, web server security and PCI compliance, an e-commerce site is best left in the hands of experienced professionals.   BC is one option to consider if you intend to use it to build & host the site.  BC Modules won't work on other servers.
There are other 3rd party shopping carts services you could use like PayPal and  ASecureCart Shopping Cart. A secure, PCI Compliant shopping cart..

  • Customer Support For Malfunctioning Muse / Catalyst eCommerce Site

Is there any type of dedicated Customer Support telephone number available - I am trying to upload a site I created in Muse & is being hosted by Business Catalyst. The Add To Cart Buttons do not function when posting the site live. I have been told by BC technical support that this is a muse software problem & to post on the forums where they were sure someone could provide an answer to why muse is scrambling up the code necessary to have a BC Ecommerce site. Well it has been 2 days & I have not received any help at all. I have an eCommerce site that is not functioning & am unable to get it live - I pay a lot of money to be part of the service & am greatly let down & highly stressed out on the fact I cant get an answer as to why the software doesn't work. I look like a complete moron in the eyes of my employer & am receiving a lot of trouble because of this issue. I have been told to stay here at work until I figure it out but have way to do so!

  • Any additional ways to edit files saved as HTML?

I own Acrobat 9 Pro. It's megacool and today I got to looking at some of the extra features and realized I probably don't have to go out and find a PDF-to-HTML converter. I say "probably" because I just ran a test saving a text-only PDF file as HTML from Acrobat. I've been doing Web design for years, and when I opened up the resulting file in my HTML editor there were problems. Although id does include CSS -- a must-have -- there were still a large number of style settings that needed to be eliminated and all handled by a single CSS selector. I tried doing a search-and-replace in Dreamweaver, which normallly works very quickly even over an entire site, and it started grinding away like my antivirus software does during a deep scan of my hard drives. I did look at the output options in Acrobat, but there was nothing there that indicated I could gain more control over the nature of HTML it generates. Any tips?

The major options you have would be related to HTML 3 versus HTML 4. I doubt that you get much in terms of style sheets since that is not a major part of the HTML 4 standard as I recall. What you do get in styles is likely highly dependent on the tagging. Tagging is the same process that helps in conversion to WORD. Without the tagging, you will most likely lose much of what appears to be formatting. Another option would be to save as a DOC file and then use the DOC to HTML that is part of WORD. However, WORD does not generate very nice HTML and that might be a poor way to go.
I used to get reasonable results with HTML 3 export in AA5, but that did not have style sheets at all.
Have you tried checking out the manual for the options? There are some in the preferences as I recall (I would look at AA9, but on the wrong machine now).

  • Muse and eCommerce without Coding

We have created small sites using DW but not being coders prefer to use Muse where possible.
We have been asked to create a new ecommerce site for a client. The products are all downloadable files; there are no physical products to fulfill. They have a site that already sells some of their products but they want to move away from the current proprietary ecommerce solution and web design combination.
The BC eCommerce option looks attractive but I want to be sure we can deliver before saying yes to the client. These are my concerns:
How easy is it to create the forms necessary to expedite payments etc without coding, is an understanding of PHP required?
We will inherit the existing payment gateway. What are the technical issues involved in payment processing?
We have a Creative Cloud/CS6 subscription and last time I enquired the BC that this uses seemed to be on a different track to the standalone BC, is this still the case?
Sorry for being a bit long-winded but I couldn’t compress my questions any further.
PS. Is there an option for a subscription based model for downloading products to run in conjunction to a payment per download one?

    Hi Graham,
Checkout forms are a built in part of BC, no PHP coding required.
The payment gateways currently supported are: http://www.businesscatalyst.com/features/payment-gateways
To build a webcommerce site you have to setup a new bc account, as current creative cloud subscriptions offer free webBasics sites that can not be upgraded. Here's some info on the partner program as well: http://www.adobe.com/uk/products/business-catalyst/faq.html#partner-program
Products inside the commerce module can be marked as downloadable files right out of the box.
Regarding the posibility of adding a subscription based model, you could setup subscribing customers as wholesalers and set a wholesaler price as well for all products( of value "0")
    Kind Regards,
    Alex

  • How can I display Excel document saved as html in ebDynpro Office Contol?

    Hello,
I have a problem with displaying of Excel document saved as html inside WebDynpro Office Control.
Could you explain why OfficeControl cannot display Excel document with content type =text/htm?
How you know, control must be bound to binary data. And then mime type is set as
    bin.setMimeType(new WebResourceType("html", "text/html", false));
The empty document is displayed always.
Nevertheless, excel file is displayed perfect, when
    bin.setMimeType(new WebResourceType("xls ", "application/msexcel", false));

The OfficeControl UI element is made available as an ActiveX control, so that the UI element can be displayed in browsers that support ActiveX controls.
The ActiveX control enables display of the following documents:
1.Microsoft Word documents with the doc file extension
2.Microsoft Excel documents with the xls file extension
This is the reason why document with other content types are not displayed.
Data source must be bound to binary data because files are read as bytes in this scenario.
    Hope this helps you.
Do let me know if your problem is solved.
    Regards,
    Vijith

  • How do we view a list of the temporary and free sites we are using?

How do we view a list of the temporary and free sites we are using?
When logged into Creative Cloud we used to be able to see the temporary and hoe many of the 5 free sites we were using.
Can’t find a list on my Creative Cloud account or when linking to "Manage" from within Muse /
No mention of the free sites in the FAQs. Has there been a policy change ? Are free sites still included in the Subscription ?

When I publish in Adobe Muse CC, do I have to pay for hosting with Adobe?
Adobe Muse CC allows you to publish your temporary website on the Adobe hosting platform at no charge for a 30-day trial period. This gives you the opportunity to send a live URL to your client for review. All sites in trial mode with Adobe will include the domain “businesscatalyst.com” in it. If you decide to take the site live by paying for the monthly hosting, you can transfer your own domain and remove the businesscatalyst.com subdomain. Or you can export the HTML and host the final site with a hosting provider of your choice.

Yeah, not sure why they took it out of the cloud interface.
But if you go to http://www.businesscatalyst.com/partnerportal and login with your cloud ID you will have access to all your cloud sites and many other features.
