Saving Attached Images in Aperture

With iPhoto, when saving an image attached to Email, I use the <save> button, and iPhoto is on the list.
How is this done with Aperture? How are attached images easily saved?
Thanks.

There isn't a way but you could make a Service to do the job with Automator

  • Re-attach facebook images with Aperture library items.

I have been publishing subsets of my images to facebook for a while, since way before the integration was built in.
I have several facebook photo collections, which now show up in aperture, but there is no connection between the local library image and the remote (FB) one.
I would like to re-connect the online image to the offline image, without loosing the comments, likes etc that are attached to the online image... I HAVE all the images in Aperture, and they have the same names in FB "collections"....
To date, I can find no way to re-attach the images, i really really do not want to loose the FB interactions, but i really really want to re-link the images to the original... I am guessing i am going to have the same problem when i get to sort out flickr too.
I would also like to get a watermark in them too.. but i guess that is another thread in the making.
Thanks in advance for any advice or handholding to sort this one out...

    Could you clarify this
To shift / update the library between desktop and laptop I have been exporting the library - jpeg full size
If you are exporting projects as libraries then this is confusing.
Is it possible when you first looked at the size (how are you doing that by the way?) Aperture had not finished generating all the previews and when you checked the size again it had?
Have you done this workflow since your first post? Has the library continued to grow? If you do the steps again does the library change size?
You coild get a program like Download OmniDiskSweeper for Mac - it is free and will list break out the Aperture library showing you how large each piece is. This might show something.
However it is possible that there isn't aeven  problem here.

  • Making sure attached images and signatures appear in the body of sent email

The subject line says it all. I would like recipients of my mail to see the attachment/image or signature, within the body of the email where I have placed it.....or not if I so choose. Is this possible to control from the sender's end?....or is this also influenced by the receiver's mail settings and platform?
I know there are many posts that dance around this issue, but I have not found one that nails it. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.
    PowerBook 17" & G4 Quicksilver desktop   Mac OS X (10.3.9)   Mail 1.3.11

The Mail.app displays all image/photo and single page PDF documents inline or viewed in place within the body of the message by default. Depending on the recipient's email client and available preference settings, such attachments may appear inline or viewed in place within the body of the message by default when the message is opened (as with the Mail.app) or as attached files only for which the sender has no control over.
If the recipient's email client is not the Mail.app but displays image/photo attachments inline or viewed in place, the attachments may not appear exactly where you placed them.
The only way to do what you want or get as close as possible is by using HTML formatting with embedded images and/or objects and no Mail.app version includes an HTML composer/editor.
RTF with Tiger Mail is HTML which allows for forwarding a message received that was composed in HTML keeping all intact. With Tiger, you can use the HTML editor/composer of choice with embedded images/objects, etc. and save the completed document.
Open the saved HTML document with Safari and at the Safari menu bar, go to File and select Mail Contents of This Page. A new Mail.app message will be launched and the HTML document viewed with Safari will be copied to the message which will be sent in its entirety.
You cannot do this with Jaguar or Panther Mail.

  • External editor in Aperture:  How do I see the edited image in Aperture?

I used to be able to edit externally in Elements and then save/close the program and see the changes in Aperture.  This does not happen anymore.  I have to save the changed image (onto my desktop), and then import it into Aperture.  Any suggestions how to save the file edited externally directly in Aperture?  OS10.8.5,  Aperture 3.4.5

I just switched that to .psd and the edited file appeared in Aperture as before.
That should not be necessary. Both tiff and psd should work.  Does your external editor change the .tiff extension to .tif when saving back? Then Aperture will not recognize the file. The external editor needs to be set to save over the existing file with exactly the same filename, inclusing extension.

  • Mail is not saving attachment and save as is not working

Suddenly my Mail is not saving attachment and save as is not working. I tried to save an email as I use to do but it is not completing the task. I should I do?
    Thanks for any help,
    Mario Lordeiro

    Mario,
Was there also NO choice to View As Icon, in the contextual menu? If not, these items/images may be embedded in HTML, rather than true attachments. Other choices for normal attachments would include Open Attachment, Open With, Save to Downloads Folder -- are any of those present in the contextual menu?
With such a message open, click on View in the menubar, place the cursor on Message in the pull-down menu, and choose Raw Source. Is there any HTML code present? Is there a header immediately before any code representing what you believe is an attached file?
If need be, I can send you an email message with a known form of attachment.

  • Savings images from Aperture to external hard drive

I have a basic question about the file structure on Aperture and mac's. I'm an old pc user, so I have not had a chance to investigate the structures yet and hoped I could get some guidance on this.
If I import several images from a camera SD card into Aperture, the images are deleted when the import has finished. How do I later copy the images from Aperture to say an external hard drive?
    Appreciate the help.

Bjorn -- welcome to the forum.
Aperture is an image database.  The Aperture database is called a Library.  The database consists of a list of Images, the files needed to create those Images, and a whole bunch of data associated with each Image.
The files needed are the originally imported file, and the set of instructions Aperture uses to "adjust" the original to create your adjusted Image.  On import, the original file becomes a Master.  The Master is _never_ altered (this is the "non-destructive" advantage of this kind program).  Aperture doesn't care where the Master is stored, as long as it can find it (it should be a locally attached drive).  If you let Aperture store the file itself, it puts it inside the Library.  If you tell Aperture where you want to store it (other than than in the Library), Aperture makes note of this by storing a pointer to the location you choose.
Masters stored in the Library are called "Managed Masters".  Masters stored outside the Library are called "Referenced Masters".
(The file listing the Adjustments is the Version.  The Version is always stored in the Aperture Library.  Versions are small text files.  The cost in storage and read-time is so minimal it can be ignored.)
    So:
    - Library (presumably in your Pictures Finder-folder)
    - - Master
    - - Version
    or
    - Library (presumably in your Pictures Finder-folder)
    - - Pointer to Master
    - - Version
    - Master (wherever you specify)
There is no connection between Aperture and any data files that are not imported into the Library.
If you make copies of your photograph files prior to import (an excellent practice), there is no connection between Aperture and the copy you do not import.
Here is a short guide I posted to the parts of Aperture every new user should know well.  Read through it, and ask questions as you move forward.
Note that making backup copies of your originals, copying or moving your originals, and making them Managed or Referenced Masters are all options presented in the Import dialogs.

  • Saving continuous images

    Hi all,
I am using a camera through network devices in MAX (ethernet connection), and I can acquire an image from the camera and save one image. Of course I have looked up all the different examples set to record videos or continuous saving of images through IMAQ... but given my camera is not the right one (USB or NI one...), I haven't found anything that would help me on the discussion forums or else.
So I have attached the VI I am currently using, and my aim would be to be able to continuously save images from my camera, so for example set a grab and save every other second, and it automatically saves the images one after the other assigning them new names every time under JPEG format. I am using a visa resource to acquire an image from my camera and am using drivers from the company that sold me the camera.
I guess nobody will be able to see the subVI's such as "initialize" or others in my VI, but everything is working fine, now all I need is to be able to save severall images and into one folder. Maybe eventually ending up being able to save a video rather that just frames.
I know this isn't much details on the VI, but if anybody has hints r question, they are more than welcome.
    Best regards

  • Why cant I properly attach images

In Eudora for the Mac, Windows, Netscape, Microsoft Outlook 2003 (Windows) and such I could attach image files (without them showing up in the body of the message). However with Mail, I cannot do this. Everytime I attach a image using Mail, it always inserts them in the body of the message.
    How can I fix this?
I usually use Outlook 2003 on my desktop work and Home PC's, however I grew up using Macs, and pop open my ibook every know and then and give it a go. Mail is okay. It cant compete with Outlook 2003 in many areas, howevever its a nice starter application.
    Thanks,
    John

Mail is okay. It cant compete with Outlook 2003 in many areas,
howevever its a nice starter application.
Mail is comparable to Outlook Express.
I use Windows Outlook at work which includes way too many options that I'll never need or use and IMO is the definition of a bloated application.
Regarding attachments with the Mail.app, the placement within the body of the message has NO effect/bearing on where the attachments appear on the recipient's end.
The Mail.app displays all image/photo and single page PDF attachments inline or viewed in place within the body of the message by default for sent and received messages which cannot be turned off.
You can control-click on a viewed in place attachment and select View as Icon (the icon will still be available in the message body which also cannot be changed) but regardless, depending on the recipient's email client and available preference settings, such attachments may appear inline or viewed in place within the body of the message when the message is opened by the recipient or as attached files only (the location of the attached file is determined by the recipient's email client) which must be opened separately to be viewed which the sender has no control over.
The reverse is true. With Outlook and the other applications you referenced, all attachments are placed in a "non text attachments field" but when sending image/photo or single page PDF attachments to a Mail.app user, these attachments will appear inline or viewed in place within the body of the message when the message is opened for which the sender has no control over. The attached files are also available in an Attachments line below the message header for saving the attachments to another location outside of the message.
This is a different but not a lacking feature with the Mail.app so there is nothing to fix. I prefer image/photo and single page PDF attachments appearing inline or viewed in place within the body of the message since it ensures I have selected the correct files before the message is sent which IMO is a lacking feature with Windows Outlook.

  • Saving Binary Image with Overlay?

    Hi
I'm having some issues saving an image with overlay information. I'm using IMAQ Find Circles to measure the radii of holes in a binary image. The hole data is then used with IMAQ Overlay Oval, to draw on ovals to highlight the circles detected. Works fine and the image is shown as expected in the image output on screen, pallette is set to binary. (See second image of 3, below)
When I try and save the image to PNG I just get a blank (black) image. If I use the IMAQ Merge Overlay tool, I just get the green circles on the black (see last image of 3 below). Is there something I'm missing with pallettes/merging? Any help much appreciated. Snapshot of (messy) code attached.
    Solved!

The problem is the binary image is all zeroes and ones.  A normal image goes up to 255, so a value of 1 looks black.
One solution is to multiply the binary image by 255, which makes the image black and white.

  • Thunderbird 31.3.0 why is the attached image rotated

    I just updated to 31.3.0
The first email I send with an attached image...
    saved as a draft...
The portrait image appears rotated to be landscape.
    Looks broken to me ?

    Thanks for the reply.
I can understand your thoughts on Microsoft and mostly agree.
But Office was cheap, for me at least, and it does the simple image things I want to do. (Crop, rotate, resize and that's about all)
Is it really a good thing to restrict Thunderbird to those people who don't use Microsoft Office. ?
I opened the image in Paint and the orientation is correct.
I created a new email in Thunderbird, attached the image and saved it as a draft. On viewing the draft, the image has been rotated right 90 degrees.
I sent the email. When it was received, the image was rotated 90 degrees, just like the draft view.
Perhaps there is something strange about the Image.
I've attached it if that helps.
Am I the only one seeing this.?
It only started happening since I upgraded Thunderbird.

  • Can not view images in Aperture

    Mavens!
I  was editing images in Aperture 3.5.1 ( latest Mavericks / iMAC) and went to add  sharpening using CTRL + S when all the images dissappeared in the viewer.
I can still see the thumbnails - I can export original images etc - I just can't see anything in the viewer - it's grey and blank.
There are NO filters / searches in place (the usual gotcha for hiding images).
Initially I had the feeling I must have mis-queued the keystroke for sharpening and somehow hidden the images in the library. But now I find that all of my libraries have this problem.  Aperture will only display thumbnails and nothing in the viewer.
Coudl this be a "delete plist"  scenario?  Any clues for further invesigation greatly appreacited as I'm stumped.
    Ciao

    Hello Kirby
Thank you for yur reply and sorry I have taken so oong to get back to you.  We just had a catergory 2 tropical cyclone cross the coast a few km away - been a little pre-occupied.
That said - the problem has gone away.
During the session where it arose I restarted the system twice and the systems persisted - so I am a little mystified.
And again thank you for reminding of the "try new user account" wrinkle  - obviously the first step for serious troubleshooting.
    Kind regards

  • Wrong folder and files order when attaching image ...

    Hello everyone!
Long ago I noticed a bug in PC Suite: when you attach images to MMS message in PC Suite you would get a mixture of files and folder (folder, files, then again folders, again files, and - more surprising - also files from parent directory etc.) and you cannot get them normally sorted. No need to say that it is very inconvenient..
I am just wondering how much time would it take Nokia to eliminate this bug as it is still present in the latest version of PC Suite 7.1.30.9. (Phone - N82). Or maybe there is some solution?..
    Thanks.

Are you using the classic or newer version of Yahoo Mail!? I just tried adding an attachment in an email to myself & none of the pictures I used were grayed out. I am using the newer version of Yahoo Mail!
Have you tried restarting your computer?

  • Help! Saving an image to stream and recreating it on client over network

    Hi,
I have an application that uses JDK 1.1.8. I am trying to capture the UI screens of this application over network to a client (another Java app running on a PC). The client uses JDK 1.3.0. As AWT image is not serializable, I got code that converts UI screens to int[] and persist to client socket as objectoutputstream.writeObject and read the data on client side using ObjectInputStream.readObject() api. Then I am converting the int[] to an Image. Then saving the image as JPEG file using JPEG encoder codec of JDK 1.3.0.
I found the image in black and white even though the UI screens are in color. I have the code below. I am sure JPEG encoder part is not doing that. I am missing something when recreating an image. Could be colormodel or the way I create an image on the client side. I am testing this code on a Win XP box with both server and client running on the same machine. In real scenario, the UI runs on an embedded system with pSOS with pretty limited flash space. I am giving below my code.
I appreciate any help or pointers.
    Thanks

While testing more, I found that the client side is generating color UI screens if I use JDK 1.3 JVM for running the server (i.e the side that generates the img) without changing single line of code. But if I use JDK 1.1.8 JVM for the server, the client side is generating black and white versions (aka gray toned) of UI screens. So I added code to save int array that I got from PixelGrabber to a text file with 8 ints for each line in hex format. Generated these files on server side with JVM 1.1.8 and JVM 1.3. What I found is that the 1.1.8 pixel grabber is setting R,G,B components to same value where as 1.3 version is setting them to different values thus resulting in colored UI screens. I don't know why.

When I attach images to an email they show as an image and not an icon.  Is there a way to have them attached as an icon?
When I send attachments this way some people can't save them.   They can see them but not save them.
    Any ideas?

They are received as attachments, i.e. icons. What you see is the real image on your disk, and only if small enough to be displayed. Otherwise, they are small icons inserted in the text.
Additionally, when you place an image in the message, you will find an option in the lower right corner, otherwise absent. Use it, if need be.

  • How can I forward an email and include the attached images?

I sent a client an email with attahced images (I attached the images, pictures I took).  The client responded with the images attached to the response.  When I try to forward that response to a third party the attached images become place holders only, no image.
Shouldn't my forwarded mail include the images?  Short of re-attaching the images how can I get them included in the forwarded email?

I tested a few I forwarded to myself and I could still forward with attachments. You might try Redirecting it (Message menu).
