Saving Bit-Accurate Setti

Decided to ask this in a new thread instead of keep going on in my other thread.... I have an Audigy 4 Card. In order to play a .wav file that was coded in Dolby Digital or DTS out of my Logitech Z-5500 accurately, without it giving a pinknoise, I have to Enable?the Bit Accurate Playback setting?under the Bit-Accurate tab in the?Creative Audio Console.
The setting will remain "Enabled" as long as my computer is kept on. However, once I reboot my computer, the setting will be disabled once I come back to Windows and I had to re-enable it. It is not as if I will be playing the .wav files on a regular basis, but I was just curious why isn't this setting saved once Windows shutdown/restart while all other settings in the Audio Console seem to be able to be saved (like S/PDIF passthrough, enabling CMSS, etc.) with the exception of Enable Bit-Accurate Recording, which is also not saved (but I don't have a Digital-In, so that setting is not as important). . So can the Enable Bit-Accurate Playback be saved even after a restart/reboot?2. Also, is the Creative Audio Console supposed to be an applet in the Control Panel? Because it is not there when I looked (Device Settings for SB Li've! 24-Bit was in the?CP when I still have that card). Any suggestions? Perhaps a Creative Labs rep? Thanks.

I had forgotten I had this topic started in the first place.... LOL
Well, as I have said in my original message, I normally don't have the need to play .wav files that are coded in DD or DTS, so the fact that this is on/off at any time have little to do with my normal uses. I have no trouble getting the SPDIF signals to my speakers using the other playback media such as MP3s, regular .wav, CDs and DVDs, they all work normally as they should.
So that was just a bit of a curiosity on my part.

Ok a little confused. I have Adobe Audition and Audgy 2 Platinum EX and need a high a quality true-to-original recording. A few questions:

    2. If I set Bit accurate recording and the Input via SPDIF is 6 bit @ 48 KHz should I set Adobe Audition to record at this also? Since adobe recommends always recording in 32 bit mode.

    > Theodore, not sure if you will read this or not since its an old post but try using 50% input level. I know this is counterintuiti've but in my adventures with the Audigy 2 NX I have found that 50% input level and 00% output level resulted in a bit perfect loopback recording. Not sure if this will help in your case or not but try it out!

  • Archive Bits Not Setting

    Hello,
I have just noticed a strange anomaly on our NetWare 6.5 SP4 server. I'm not sure how long this has been going on.
When some documents are created/saved on the server, the archive bit is not being set. We discovered this when a file was inadvertently deleted and while trying to restore it could not find it on our backup tapes (differential backup based on archive bit). As I searched around the various drives (both Windows and NetWare), I found that this is randomly (as far as I can tell) happening with all users, but only on our Netware server. The Windows server is fine.
It appears to be mostly MS Office documents, probably because that is mostly what we use here, but there are some PDFs missing the archive bit too. I have tried to create several test documents and am not able to reproduce it for myself. I had another user walk through and re-create several documents (duplicating the work from the day before where archive bits were not set), but while I was watching, all archive bits were set.
I did a search on the NetWare server for all documents created/modified since Sept 30 (our last full backup where all archive bits should have been reset). I found about 1000 documents that have been created/modified,but did not have the archive bit set. I then set the archive bit on all of them. This afternoon I re-ran that same search and came up with about 50 documents that were created/modified today that did not get the archive bit set. This represents about 25% of the files created/modified today.
I've searched the Internet and Novell's website looking for answers but haven't had any luck.
Has anyone else run into anything like this before?
    thanks,
    david

    UPDATE:
The first day after I installed the updates, I had about 20 documents not get the archive bit set. That was fewer than the 100 or so I was getting per day before the updates.
In the last week or so since that day, I have now only had a few documents not get the archive bit set during the entire week. While it is not perfect, maybe it will continue to improve.
Thanks for all your help with this.

  • Error while saving for Objective setting

    Hi,
While saving the Objective setting templates i am getting the error as "Table HRPAD605 is not part of the Customizing object PDST T "
    <u>Error documentation is as follows</u>
    <b>Diagnosis</b>
Entries in table HRPAD605 cannot be edited in connection with customizing object PDST      T as table HRPAD605 does not belong to customizing object PDST      T, according to the object definition.
    <b>System Response</b>
    The function terminates.
    <b>Procedure</b>
Check whether the entered objects and keys are correct. Then check in the Implementation Guide whether the object was created correctly.
Correct the object definition or the entry for the Transport Organizer interface.
    Thanks

    Hello,
Most likely the is an inconsistency with the transport objects PDST and PDWS. Please run RHSOBJCH to correct this inconsistency.
Afterwards you should be able to transport the templates via the catalog or via RHMOVE30. Please make sure that the category ID in the target system is the same otherwise you won't be able to locate the template.
The report RHSOBJCH corrects the missing HR entries in the OBJS table.
This step you need to perform only once. For OSA you need to overtake
    *5020 up to *5026, also PAD605,606 and 607 references.
When you have done this (as said, only need to do it once) you can transport the categories and templates via the phap_catalog_pa transaction (righ-mouse click on the to be transported object).
    Hope this helps,
    Regards and Groetjes,
    Maurice

  • PSE 12.1 not saving in version set

I have been successfully using PSE 12.1 on Windows 7 since last August.  However I've started having problems in the last 2 or 3 days.  I start the Organizer and select a photo to edit.  When I "save as" I get one of two results.  In the first case it saves the photo in the proper folder but it does not create a version set with the original.  In the second case, the editor locks up and eventually I get a message saying the editor is not responding and windows is looking for a solution.  Usually it saves one photo as in case one above, and then fails to respond on the second photo and I shut it down.  Over the past 2 days I have uninstalled PSE 12 and reinstalled 3 times, upgrading to 12.1 each time., but I get the same result.  Any ideas what is causing this?
Update:  I've given up.  Uninstalled for the last time; purchased PSE 13; everything working with new version.

This is odd . Did you tried with clean preferences. To clean preferences go to "Edit Menu>PReferences>General" and click the button "Reset Preferences on next launch". Relaunch PSE.
This is not new, already several posts on this forum and one bug report:
    http://feedback.photoshop.com/photoshop_family/topics/save_in_version_set_not_working_in_p se12
    See:

Today's state of the problem seems to be that this happens not only with saving in version sets in PSE12, but also on simple saves with 'include in the organizer' checked.
It happens on previously converted catalogs, not on new ones.
It happens when the process 'elementsautoanalyzer.exe' is running (you can 'kill' it from the Windows task bar, but you must do it every time you start the organizer. Deleting or renaming this file seems to work.)
This seems also to be a problem for people using the 'watched folders'.
So, to prevent the problem : kill the elementsautoanalyzer.exe every time you start the organizer.
To recover the edited files not included in the catalog, do a manual 'get photos and videos' from the already gotten files.
It's important to do so, otherwise the edited files won't be catalogued and be missing if you do a backup.
If necessary, use the automatic stacking feature by visual similarity to stack your originals with your edited versions, since you can't create version sets.
If you can share your experience on the above feedback link, please do it and add your vote.

  • Bit rate setting?

I've been using a Blue Snowball USB microphone for recording.  The microphone has a bit rate of 16.  When I'm recording with that microphone, should I change the GarageBand bit rate setting to 16 as well?  I vaguely recall being prompted in GarageBand to set the bit rate, but stuck to the default (whatever that is), because at the time I had no idea what a bit rate was.

    jsamuelpage wrote:

16 wouldn't be a "bit rate" it would be the bit depth (bit rate would be measured in the thousands, not double digits)
    jsamuelpage wrote:

GB records with a sample rate of 44100 bps, and a bit depth of 16 by default, so you need not set anything.

  • SQL Developer 3.0/3.1 64 Bit Memory Setting

    Hi,
To avoid hitting memory setting issues with SQL Dev 3.0/3.1 64 bit clients, you can make the following changes:
    1) Close SQL Developer
    2) Locate the sqldeveloper.conf file
    Found in directory:
    C:\<SQLDeveloper32\sqldeveloper\sqldeveloper\bin
    3) Change the following line
    Before:
    AddVMOption -XX:MaxPermSize=128M
    After:
    AddVMOption -XX:MaxPermSize=256M
    4) Launch SQL Developer
A memory issue of this sort will generally result in non-responsive UI behavior.
You can verify that you are hitting this issue by launching the console window version of SQL Developer and checking for memory exceptions.
    C:\SQLDeveloper30-64RTMPatch1\sqldeveloper\sqldeveloper\bin\sqldeveloper.exe
A bug has been filed change this setting.
    Thanks, Mark

SQL Developer itself will work with a 64-bit JDK. It is possible that the data modeler still requires a 32-bit JDK.
You may get better answers in the dedicated Data Modeller forum.

  • Saving in Version sets

I have Elements 4.0 for windows.  All of a sudden I can't save my edits as versions sets and they don't appear in organizer at all.  I think they are getting saved, I just can't find them.  Also, I started having problems tagging pictures, sometimes it works other times it won't.  I reinstalled the program, but I'm still having trouble.  Anyone know what's going on?  I need help - I'm three years behind on my pictures and now I'm at a stand still!

Try File > Catalog > Recover.

  • Elements 11 problem with Saving to Version Set

I have upgraded toElements 11 but when i go to save a file to " save in version set with original" it will not let me, as the  tick box is blanked out?

It maybe a question of permissions. Are you running from an administrators account or a user account? If the latter do you have full read/write permissions for the application? What operating system do you have ?
On Windows try making a direct shortcut for the Organizer and Editor. Make sure you have the correct file path as there is more than one exe file. You can then launch the programs directly from the desktop bypassing the welcome screen. This is generally better as the welcome screen leaves background processes running.
Right click anywhere on the desktop and select New >> Shortcut
Then click the browse button and navigate to:
    "C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Elements 11 Organizer\PhotoshopElementsOrganizer.exe"
Then click Next; then click Finish
Then make a direct shortcut for the Editor in a similar manner.
On Windows, Right click anywhere on the desktop and select New >> Shortcut
Then click the browse button and navigate to:
    "C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 11\PhotoshopElementsEditor.exe"
Then click Next; then click Finish
N.B. on 32 bit systems navigate to Program Files
Right click on each of the new desktop icons and launch by choosing “Run As Administrator”
Keep both applications running but try to edit and save a photo as before.

  • Bit Depth Setting?

I feel like I'm missing something that's very obvious-- sorry if I am. How do I set the bit depth for a new audio file? I want to create 24 bit audio files, but as soon as I create a new file, STP automatically makes it 16bit. The only setting I've seen so far is in Preferences, to export at 24. I've set that, but nowhere does there seem to be any setting for recording or creating audio at 24bits.
Thanks for any help, and thanks for putting up with what's probably a dumb newbie question!
      Mac OS X (10.4.7)

I believe all the current macs support 24 bit. You just need to set it in the project settings as mentioned above (assuming your machine supports it) and you're limited to recording in the project window. Recording in the waveform window seems to always record at 16 regardless of settings.

  • Using 16 bit and 32 bit composition setting

Its a little confusing to me on How you are supposed to use 16 and 32 bit.  If you created your comp and effects in the 8 bit mode (and all effects work in 8 bit mode right) and you have banding issue that you want to smooth out so you switch to 16 bit but then some of your effects have that Yellow Warning.  Do you switch to 16 bit  then switch back to 8 and the 16 bit stuff is saved or do you have to pre render while in 16 bit and import the render file into the 8 bit.  It's not clearly explained.   why don't them make all the plugins to work in 16 and 32 bit.
    Thanks in Advance
    On a Mac using CS4

I always wrap effects that require compression and expansion with the HDR compander. If your project requires that you insert an 32 bit effect between two lower bit effects then you would have 4 instances as you suggest. There is no trade off. The Compander returns the dynamic range to the pipeline so that the advantages of the higher bit rates are maintained.
If you do not use the HDR compander then everything in the render pipeline after the first instance of an effect has a bit depth warning will only be processed using 8bit color.
