Saving cd's to library

help...my itunes library wont let me save new cd's to my library, it gives this error msg... "the itunes file cannot be saved. you do not have enough acess privileges for this operation "... ... it just started doing this

Since it's XP, the first thing I'd try is a PC restart. Sounds like the OS is confused.

Trash the copy of the library you just moved. Then Hold down the option (or alt) key key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
But do you want to have two iPhoto Libraries? Why not just use the one on the External?

Is there any way for this not to happen? I love iPhoto for integration with other iLife apps, but managing folders may be a deal breaker for me. I tweak nearly every photo I have and I'm constantly running out of space on my hard drive. With iPhoto's hidden folders, makes managing photos horrendous.
I really, really wish iPhoto would adopt some of Picasa's user-friendly features.

iPhoto follows the mandate of good Digital Asset Management, always keeping a digital negative that is untouched and save for later use. All good DAM applications follow that mandate.
If you're running out of space you can get an external HD to run your full/primary library on and have a second, smaller library on the Macbook. It can contain the more recent or most needed photos. You can also use iPhoto Library Manager to easily switch between the two and copy events and/or albums between the two while keeping keywords, titles and descriptions intact.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.≤br>
Note: There now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

Saved an image as library and now all in iphoto images disappeared

I was saving an image from email to iphoto, and somehow it was saved as my iphoto library. All of my photos are now gone, there were hundreds, and the one image I just saved is just there. Where are my photos??? Don't they get saved somewhere on my hard drive aside from being hosted iphoto. I have a MAC AIr and iPhoto '11.

Saving Navigation Bar as Library Item with CSS working?

I have created a simple navigation bar with a separate color for "over" and saved it as a library item. A warning box indicates that the item may not work the same as the original as the CSS may not be copied. What is the simplest method for correcting this?

If your html docs are linked to an external stylesheet, they will get their styles from the CSS file.

I highly recommend using server-side includes instead of Library Items for menus. A server-side include file is easier to maintain by editing one file and uploading it to your server. With Library Items you must make changes to the Library Item and then re-publish all pages containing that item.

How do I show/refresh data from an Access Web App in an Excel spreadsheet saved in a Document Library on Sharepoint 2013 online

I have an Access 2013 Web App in my Sharepoint 2013 online website. It contains a query to report on its data (several, actually, but let's keep it simple). I want to connect an Excel spreadsheet to the query, visualise the data in pivot tables/graphs/whatever,
save the spreadsheet in a Document Library, and let other team site Sharepoint users open the spreadsheet (preferably in Excel online, but with Excel client if it has to be) and see/copy the data, refreshed with the latest information from the Access Web App.

The way I'm doing it at the moment is to create an ODC file to connect to the cloud-based Access 2013 database, save that ODC in a Data Connection Library in the SP site, and use the saved ODC file as data source in the Excel spreadsheet. This works and
successfully keeps everything 'in the cloud' but I can't get it to refresh in Excel Online, and if I open the spreadsheet in Excel Client I have to enter the database password every time to refresh it. I don't really want to issue this password to everyone
who might want to view the data. There must be a better way than this ODC method, I suspect.
Googlings on this have led down various blind alleys - Excel Services, PowerPivots, Web Parts - but I'm stuck on which to follow through. Please, someone, point me to an article/book/website that explains how to do this step-by-step in simple language..

I don't see any quick way of achieving it - at least there's no such functionality exists in SharePoint. All you can do, develop an event receiver that will update the fields in the list item once the excel file is added/updated. You can use OpenXml API
to manipulate the excel file.

DSC Saving Shared Variables to Library

I'm guessing this is a bug (LV/DSC 2009 SP1), but I wanted to see if anyone else had experienced this or had a workaround.
I'd like to make changes to the logging state of some shared variables programmatically and be able to save the changes. When I use the SharedVariablestoLib.vi function on a simple test library it works. However when I use it on my actual library I get the following (testing vi I'm using is Untitled 2):

Invoke Node in PRC_SVsToLib.vi->PRC_DumpSharedVariables.vi->NI_DSC.lvlibharedVariablesToLib.vi->Untitled 2
Possible reason(s):
LabVIEW: An input parameter is invalid. For example if the input is a path, the path might contain a character not allowed by the OS such as ? or @.

NI-488: Command requires GPIB Controller to be Controller-In-Charge.
I think the culprit is that my library has variables organized into virtual folders. Any thoughts?

I can pretty well cause the problem with virtual folders. I have attached the vi I'm using to change the logging state and save the changes as well as the two libraries I used for testing purposes.
What I did to test:
-Disabled logging on both variables in both libraries.
-Saved, undeployed, and redeployed both libraries.
-Ran my log enabling vi on each library. It ran on Test 2 (no folders) fine. On Test 3 (includes a folder) it threw the same error as above.
-At this point I tested and both libraries were logging both variables.
-Looking at the variable properties in the project, both Test 2 variables showed Enable Logging checked. Neither Test 3 variable did.
-Exited the project. Test 3 had unsaved changes so I saved it.
-Re-opened the project and examined the variables, both Test 2 variables showed Enable Logging as before. In Test3 the root variable showed Enable Logging but the variable in the folder did not.
-Undeployed and redeployed both libraries.
-Confirmed that both Test 2 variables and only the root Test 3 variable were logging.

Grouping of develop presets in the 'Saved Presets' dropdown in Library module

I'm sure a lot of people download lots of presets from the internet to try, and end up with loads of them.
In the library module, they all appear as a single long, cumbersome list in the dropdown 'Saved Preset' in the quick develop panel.
This makes this dropdown totally unusable if you have more than say, 40 presets - often the most commonly-used presets are at the bottom, and you have to scroll for ages to get to them.
Would be great (and a simple solution) to be able to group them. You can group them in the presets folder, and they do appear grouped in the 'develop' module, but not in the library module.

Presently, I just use the Develop Module if I want to assign a preset - because it has the folders.

File created with Document Content Type will not be saved back to Sharepoint library

Recently some of our users, after upgrading to Windows 8.1 with Office 2013, intermittantly are not able to save files created using document content types template back to sharepoint library. Instead the location is set
to their local storage. The same templates used by Windows 7 users with Office 2010 are working fine. Setting the SP sites as Trusted location in IE and Clearing IE Cache did not help. Adding the SP site in Word Trusted Location did
not help. Any suggestions how this can be resolved is appreciated. Thanks.

According to your post, my understanding is that you could not save office file back to the SharePoint Document library.
It may have to something with your Word Settings. When you click new and it opens in MS Word, word treats it as unsafe because perhaps it is not saved. To make it work:
Go to Word (2013) -> File Menu -> Options -> Trust Center -> Trust Center Settings
-> Protected View Tab -> Uncheck "Enable Protected View for files located in potentially unsafe locations" (2nd option)

If the issue persist, you can also check the event log and ULS log to see if anything unexpected occurred.
To check event log, click the Start button and type “Event Viewer” in the Search box.

Not everything has saved in my itunes library

Help!!!
I have just got a new laptop and am trying to transfer all my music. I backed up everything from my old laptop onto disc and restored it to my new laptop. However it has only restored 800 out of 2000 songs. On closer inspection my old itune library hadn't saved all the songs to the c drive library (a tick box apparently wasn't ticked) how do i get them all in my old library to back up again?
Is i just copy and paste it changes the name of all the songs back to track 1 etc.

In some previous version ITunes automatically made a copy of your music in your ITunes Music Library. At some point some genius decided that you should be able to add things to your library by copying them over, without it actually making a copy in My Documents\My Music (presumably because they though they were creating duplicates). Anyway, what you have to do now is on your old computer go to Edit, Preferences, Advanced, and then check the checkbox that says "Copy files to the iTunes Music folder when adding to library", and click OK. Then go to the Advanced pulldown menu and select Consolidate library. That will root through everywhere from whence you copied stuff into iTunes and put a copy into Itunes. Then when you install iTunes on your new PC make sure you've selected the settings above so that when you copy your library in to itunes, it'll make a full copy where you expect it to be and you can back it up etc, and so forth.

The photos are already "saved" on the phone's SS memory SIM cards have nothing to do with that, and don't enable bypassing the passcode. In fact, changing the SIM card requires reactivating the phone which will wipe everything stored in the phone.

How to view Photoshop files are saved in the iPhoto library in Bridge?

I was very happy to see that photoshop files are now a supported file in iPhoto. However I was really bummed to see that once those files are placed in iPhoto they can't be viewed in Bridge. Does anyone know a way to fix this?

Using Photoshop (or Photoshop Elements) as Your Editor of Choice in iPhoto.
1 - select Photoshop as your editor of choice in iPhoto's General Preference Section's under the "Edit photo:" menu.
2 - double click on the thumbnail in iPhoto to open it in Photoshop. When you're finished editing click on the Save button. If you immediately get the JPEG Options window make your selection (Baseline standard seems to be the most compatible jpeg format) and click on the OK button. Your done.
3 - however, if you get the navigation window that indicates that PS wants to save it as a PS formatted file. You'll need to either select JPEG from the menu and save (top image) or click on the desktop in the Navigation window (bottom image) and save it to the desktop for importing as a new photo.
This method will let iPhoto know that the photo has been editied and will update the thumbnail file to reflect the edit..
NOTE: With Photoshop Elements 6 the Saving File preferences should be configured: "On First Save: Save Over Current File". Also I suggest the Maximize PSD File Compatabilty be set to Always.
If you want to use both iPhoto's editing mode and PS without having to go back and forth to the Preference pane, once you've selected PS as your editor of choice, reset the Preferences back to "Open in main window". That will let you either edit in iPhoto (double click on the thumbnail) or in PS (Control-click on the thumbnail and seledt "Edit in external editor" in the Contextual menu).
