Saving Comments

Hi, I trying to add slicky comments or highlight to a pdf.
I can enter but when i go to save it gives me an alarm that it is write protected or someone else is using it.
I do a save as and it does save the changes, however when i open the saved as version it does not allow me to save that one.
How do I add a stickynote or highlight parts of the pdf then save?

There is no Macros available for Pages but there are a few third party products allowing us to 'type' stored chunks of texts.

On the computer, I can view my previously saved comments. Is there a similar feature on the mobile version of PDF? (Idk if it helps, but I have a nexus 7)

Vaibhav: Yes I was aware of seeing comments if you are already on the page.
My question is: say you put a stickynote next to an important table, definition and also one on a table (all in different pages). If I wanted to see a listing of these comments (without being on their respective page already or knowing the page they are in) Can I pull down a listing of these comments and then choose to go to a specific one.

  • Annoying When Saving Comments

Adobe Reader XI 11.0.2 on a Windows 7 machine
Exactly the same problem as the post http://forums.adobe.com/message/5044829#5044829, but there is no reply.
It is so nice to have all the commenting tools in Adobe Reader now. However, whenever I click File->Save for a file with new comments (not a protected file), it asks me to choose a path and a file name, which acts as a "Save as" command. Then I have to click the original file because I don't want to make an extra copy, so it asks me whether I am sure to replace the file. It is extremely annoying.
Am I the only one experiencing this problem? Can anyone help?

I appreciate your help. It works partially as what you described.
I disable all enhanced security (Sandbox Protections and Enhanced Security), then I can work freely with the "Save" for files in whitelist. However, for files outside the whitelist, after I add comments and click "Save", it pompts up a warning dialog saying "The document could not be saved. The file may be read-only, or another user may have it open. Please save the document with a different name or in a different folder." Then the rest of the story is exactly as what you said
I just did some more testing: it looks like you still have to do the Save As the first time you move or save a file to a new location. Subsequent saves function as expected, but the (for lack of a better term) Save-Flag seems to get un-toggled any time the file is moved.
I'm glad that it now works for files in whitelist. But my pdf files are stored in all different paths (EndNote did this). I can't add all these into the whitelist. Is it a way to apply the whitelist to include all its descendants?

  • Retrieving Saved Comments after Switching Servers

I work for an e-commerce company and we use Adobe PDF to do our catalog page layouts. We use Windows 7 and Mac OS. In the process the PDF and comments were originally saved to a server. This past weekend we had to copy everything to a new server, but when we open the PDF, it can't find the comments, because it is still looking for the old server. Is there a way to change the network path that Adobe is using to find the comments?

  • Saving comments to the file that was opened

    Hello all,
i was wondering if someone can help me.
I am trying to send out an excel file register that hyperlinks to PDF files that i have saved specifically to gather peoples comments. However when the comment-er opens the PDF file and adds his comments, when they try to save the file it wont automatically save over the original file, it will only let them save-as to a new file name and location. And to make it even more difficult Adobe Reader 11 doesn't even open the save-as path to the location of the original file, so the comment-er cant just click the original and save over the top.
Can anyone suggest how to setup a PDF file that people can add comments and then just hit save, using Reader 11?
    thanks,
    JC

I found a solution, and that is to not use Adobe Reader for reading and commenting, basically.
If i open PDFs through foxit, even from a hyperlink, add my comments and just hit save, it will save over the old file rather than force me to go through the save-as process (and also have to navigate to find where the original file was saved in the first place.)

  • Saving comments and markups only

I have been working with construction blueprints an make comments and markings on teh PDF files.  Of course when a new revision of plans comes out One would have to paste the comments back on the revised plan.  Any way of doing a kind of overlay so all the old comments could be pasted on the new set of plans.   I understand that this would be done a page at a time and not for all 200 pages.
Working with Acrobat 4 and Adobe 8 Standard.
    Thanks

    Ok, some background.
Comments and markups are an extra layer on top of PDF. Many PDF tools don't consider them a proper part of the page and ignore them.
So the first question is: what are the PDF tools here?
You probably assume that placing PDF as graphics into Word is the most usual thing in the world. In fact, it only works in Mac OS, and with certain versions of Word. (Acrobat isn't involved in any way).
It works because Mac OS X has support for reading PDF files built into it. Macintosh Word just uses this to allow the PDF to be treated as if it is a graphic file. Clearly, Mac OS doesn't consider the annotations part of the page, and ignores them when it lets you treat them as a graphic.
Your solution, apart from accepting this as the order of the day, is to "flatten" the comments and markup so they are part of the page. I will leave it to others to suggest the best way to do that.

  • Viewing/saving comments in Formscentral

Can I see comments (stamps) added by a Reader that is not in a form-filler field when viewing responses in Formscentral? As well, am I able to save these comments when I save filled-out forms as PDFs? (I am currently trying the trial version so I cannot save them at the moment.)

I bought the paid version of Acrobat Pro XI; however, I still cannot figure out how to view comments from forms submitted to formscentral. Is there a way to include comments when submitting a form?

    Hi Sankar

  • BPC 10.0 NW Comment Length

    Hi all,
I'm going around in circles here and not finding the cause, so I'm hoping you'll be able to tell me what I'm missing!
We're running BPC 10.0 NW SAPK-80102INCPMBPC and we have some templates that are set up to save more than 1000 characters in each saved Comment. I've created a new Environment and Model but every time I save Comments they are being restricted to 255 characters.
At first I thought it was because I was creating the templates on Excel 2007, but now I'm using Excel 2010 and experiencing the same issue. I've started again creating a brand new template (to ensure that no restrictions are being carried over from a template created in an earlier version of Excel - just to be safe), but the Comments are only saving up to a maximum of 255 characters!
One last thing. The template that does save over 1000 characters is in our Production system, but this is still just a development in our Development system.
Is there a setting somewhere that I'm missing that will make this work correctlt for me in our Development system.
    Many thanks in advance.
    JohnK

    Hi,
By default system allow you to key in comment length as 255 chars. You can change this length from Administration --> Models
    Hope it helps...

  • Forms in Acrobat9 reader are not able to be saved

Anyone else run into this? I've created some rather complex forms with built in calculations (think catalogue sheets) and put some security settings for printing and filling out the forms on the pdf docs.
In Acrabat 8 and earlier versions you can work on the forms, then save them, then go back and work on them some more before you print.
With Acrobat Reader 9 you cannot save the forms. You even get a warning that you can't save the form data and you must print.
This does me no good because I need to get these completed forms back via e-mail. I've tried removing all security from the documents. I've tired everything I can think of.
I think this is a bug. At least I hope that it's a bug because this could kill all of my internet sales for this client's product.
    Thanks.

It's not a bug. Reader normally cannot save a modified document, and filling form fields is modifying the document. But you can enable certain features in Reader if you give the document usage rights. There are a number of usage rights that enable features in Reader that are not normally available, such as saving, commenting, submitting outside of a browser, and others.
You can grant certain usage rights to a document using Acrobat Pro 8 or 9, but there are licensing restrictions that go along with doing so. In particular, if you distribute the document to more than 500 recipients, then you can extract information from a maximum of 500 returned forms (including hardcopies). There is no limit to the number of returned forms you can process if you distribute the document to 500 or fewer recipients.
To avoid these limitations, you can use Adobe's LiveCycle Reader Extensions product to grant usage rights to your documents. This is a more expensive option and you'll have to negotiate directly with Adobe regarding pricing. A less costly alternative is to use the third-party service of FormRouter - http://www.formrouter.com/pdf/readerextensions.htm, who for a fee will enable individual documents for you.

  • How can I view comments in pages

I have a document with many saved comments.  After shutting down my computer and restarting, I can no longer view comments.  I would like to view them and print them on not just this document, but may others.  Does Apple realize that this is a problem.  When will it be resolved or is there a resolution that I am unaware.

Thank you!  I just checked, and I saw that on another document it does show the comments. Thank goodness.  I shut down my current document and found an older document of the same name dated yesterday afternoon, and it does show the comments.  Thank goodness.  The document I've been using since the shut down opened automatically when I restarted, and I've been using it and have made a lot of changes.  Now I'll see if I can figure out what's going on with that.
    Thank you for your help!

  • Using 'SAVE_TEXT' to save comment for qualification

I face a problem when I use function module 'SAVE_TEXT' to save comment for qualification for employees (IT 24).
    The scenario is like this:
    The employee has 2 same qualifications for 2 period, one from 01.01.2006 - 31.05.2006 and one 01.06.2006 - 31.12.9999.
I need to save the comment only for period 01.06.2006. When I use FM 'SAVE_TEXT', the comment is saved for both period.
How can I solve this problem? Is there any other FM I can use for saving comment?
Hope someone can help me. Thanks.

So according to what I understood do one thing.
For this both periods of dates set a flag.
Say for example flag is v_flag.
    if v_flag = 'X'.
    'SAVE_TEXT'
    endif.
I think I am clear, let me know if I am wrong.

  • NOT WORKING -How To Display All Comments for a Planning Package

    Hi All,
I am using How to Document "How To Display All Comments for a Planning Package" to display comments for list of "cost center" against different "fiscal/year" for Key Figure "Budget Amount".
Below is how the Layout looks like where comments are posted against Cost Center- year combination.
    Cost Center                          2007     2008     2009     2010     2011
    3          2.00     2.00     2.00     2.00     2.00
    4          2.00     2.00     2.00     2.00     2.00
    6          2.00     2.00     2.00     2.00     2.00
    7          2.00     2.00     2.00     2.00     2.00
This case is very similar to the example given in how to document but after following all the steps correctly in the document and also followings various forum links such as below , I am not able to display the comments for list of Cost Centers.
"How to...BSP display comments"...problem with row comment
Below are the issues being faced:
    1) When i save the comments , the icon for comments (indicating that some comments have been entered) is not shown against selection of Cost Center-Year although the comment is saved.Comment are  also visible in BPS0.
    2) On execution "Web interface could not be loaded" - is the message that is shown in the area where BPS application should show all the comments.
Highly Appreciate any help with issues mentioned above.
    Kind Regards,
    Robin Johri

    Hello Robin,
    1) please check if you set the row/cell selection property correctly for the layout component in the web interface.
    2) the error does not make sense since the comments are displayed in an iframe using a BSP application, not a web interface. Check the URL in the HTML text component.

  • "save as" version comments - how to see

I have AI CS2 and am trying to use it with Bridge to give some kind of version control. Since I dont have the complete CS suite I understand that versioning will be limited. Nevertheless, when I save a file in AI using 'save as' and click the Adobe dialogue I can see a field called 'version comments' which I assume allows me to note what is different about the version of the work I am about to save.
But there seems to be be no way of viewing the the information I have saved in 'version comments' - not in AI or Bridge.
Anyone know how I can see the saved comments and could advise me on what limited version control I can use?
    Many thanks in advance.

So it seems that there is no way for me to see the info I have entered into the 'version comments' field. Perhaps as Ton says it is only used in Version Cue.
But I think I have worked out a way of entering file version information and being able to browse it in Bridge.
Before saving a new version, I can go to File>Info and put version comments into the metadata 'description' field, e.g "Version Note - greyscale image converted to colour". Then 'save as' and increment the version number in the file name; e.g. Poster V02.ai etc.
If I now browse the saved versions using Bridge, the metadata is shown for each thumbnail and thus the description and hence my version notes. I can then easily revert to any previous file version.
Not pretty but it will do.
