Saving directly from the scanner to the Database

Please i need somebody's help on this urgently.
I have a column in a table for storing image actiually sigantures.
meanwhile i want to be able to save directly from the scanner to the database without having to pass through saving it first on the file system. I mean i need to know how to call the scanner,scan the signature and save directly to the database without saving the file on the file system. i need to know how to control something withing the scanner.
I would very much appreciate a quick one on these.

Ask your scanner manufacturer if they can write to a DB.
I don't think you can do that, scanners scan to a file. You then need to upload the file to the DB which is quite simple.
Can you explain why you don't want to use the filesystem?

I usually use the OS connection option. So as you suggest, connect without the ISP connection software. Doing so does not by-pass the sudo command being active in Activity Monitor however.
On reading my post I see my failure to link the concerns of the laptop purchase with the sudo and modem. My thought here is of an intersection of known vulnerability with this widely used modem/software (via permanent sudo process activated) and that vulnerability then being known and utilised by another party(s).
I am pursuing the issue in part with consideration to a broader possible issue of vulnerability.

According to the list, there is no driver for your printer included in OS X 10.7.
There are a couple of options:
1. Contact HP to see if they have a workaround.
2. If the model of printer is not listed but your printer is a PostScript printer or PCL Laser printer, try the "Generic PostScript" or "PCL Laser printer" drivers. Generic printer drivers may not let you access all the features of your printer.
I have not tried #2, but some people have had success.

Copyright stamp - when I publish photo's directly from LR3 to Facebook the copyright is missing?

My images are copyrighted and if for example I export the photos to a folder and then upload the photos from that photo to Facebook the Copyright stamp is there as it should be. However when I publish directly from Lightroom to Facebook the copyright is missing and I can't figure out why this is? Any help would be appreciated!

Thank you Klaus1.The large font, I copied and pasted from my mail box.I'm visually impaired...not to a huge degree but it helps to use the large font.I believe you are right about the copyright on the imac stuff but if facebook decide otherwise, you have to reply electronically to their challenge.If you can't provide a reference directly from the copyright owner then they remove the video.I believe this is a programmed response and no human is involved which now makes it impossible for me to get my video uploading restored.They detect added soundtrack automatically and then challenge.There are many others in the same boat and facebook will not communicate.They have various discussion sites on which I have left messages including Mark Zuckerbergs own facebook but I don't think anyone from facebook ever reads them.I intend to start a second facebook which I can use purely to get my videos uploaded as a lot of my friends enjoy them BUT don't want fall foul of their programming again.If only iMac would put something on the net to this effect.I think it is so unfair that with modern technology it is impossible to contact these large conglomerates personally and receive an email response.I tried emailing [email protected] but I got a failure notice.If you have any ideas on how to get verification from apple direct, I would be very grateful.Thank You.

Thinking of buying an Ipad2 to take on photo shoots so clients can look at photos at the time they are taken. I know the Ipad will not accept my memory card, but is there another way of transferring photos directly from my camera to the Ipad?

I see you're experiencing issues installing the printer software. I will do my best to assist you with this issue.
I would disable all the start up programs and temporarily turn off the Antivirus Software and any Real Time Scanning in the Antivirus Software also, to see if that is causing the issue. How to use MSCONFIG . Click on the Startup tab and click Disable all, Then click the Services tab and check Hide All Microsoft Services.
Restart the computer.
Disconnect the USB cable from the printer.
Run the uninstall from the CD.
Go start, computer, right click on the CD for the printer, left click open in a new window, double click on uninstall.
Make sure that the print spooler service is running.
Right-click Print Spooler, and then click Properties.
If the Startup type is set to Manual or Disabled, click the drop-down list, click Automatic, and then click Apply.
Under Service status, click Stop and then Start, and then click OK.
Run the installation again and don't connect the cable until prompted.
Test the printer.
Then you will have to go back and enable the Startup programs, Microsoft Services and turn the Antivirus Software back on again.

"cannot find the scanner on the bus"

I attached Epson 2450 scanner via firewire but when I open Photoshop I get the message "cannot find the scanner on the bus, Please ensure that it is switched on, ready to scan and that the cables are attached correctly." That message stays on top of all windows and the "ok" button is useless. I searched and trashed every item "...USB scanner.." in the Library/Application Support/Epson scanner module and the message still shows up. The only way the scanner is attached is via firewire. I have successfully scanned 35 mm slides in from the scanner until this message started showing. How do I get rid of it?

The first thing I did when connecting the scanner was to get the updated, most recent drivers. I have downloaded the driver a second time and yesterday everything was fine. Today, I started Photoshop and turned on the scanner and there's that dratted message again that won't go away. I downloaded the latest drivers again this morning, restarted everything and still get the message that won't go away as long as the scanner is on. I have to turn off the scanner and restart to get rid of it, but then I can't scan. I have submitted my problem to Epson support and get no answer.

If you've turned VoiceOver on then see if triple-clicking the home button turns it off, and then change what Settings > General > Accessibility > Triple-Click Home is set to.
Otherwise, via 'the touch to select double-tap to activate' process you need to go into Settings > General > Accessibility > VoiceOver and turn it off

Turn VoiceOver on or off in iTunes: Select iPad in the iTunes sidebar. In the Options section of the Summary pane, click Configure Universal Access. Select VoiceOver, then click OK.
So select Configure Universal Access at the bottom of the Summary tab and set Seeing to Neither

How does one move a scanned document from the scanner to the SD card?

I use a DELL laptop, plus the DELL All in One printer Model 922. I can scan something but then I would like to place it on my card for viewing on my TX. I do scan it as a picture. Is there any other way? Is there another application I should be looking for?

If you scan it as a picture, just HotSync it over using Palm Desktop and the Media button in the left side column.
If your scanner can do "OCR" (Optical Character Recognition) you might be able to scan it as a Word document and then use Docs2Go to transfer it.
I'd suggest upping the scan resolution a bit to give you the option of enlarging the image on your TX. While viewing the picture, press the UP direction on the 5-way pad to Zoom In on the picture.

Play mp3s directly from Zen Micro on the

Hello everybody,
i just bought me a subnotebook with a small harddri've. So installed the Zen Micro software and my idea was that i simply hook the player up with USB and play the mp3s on the PC directly from the Player. So i don't have to copy them on my notebook harddisk.
Well, that was the idea, but when i hook the player up on USB, everything is ok and i see the player in the MediaSource Organizer. But when I click on my player and want to play a song it's played on my Zen Micro and not on my PC.
How can I fix this?
Would be very pleased if somebody can help me.

Idea: Is it possible to buy a USB 2.0 Hub and connect it to my USB port? Well the connection speed would be the slower one, but maybe i could trick the player and software. Can you help a noobie, I've got an ipod touch and would like to stream music, you tube video etc wirelessly to a set of powered speakers directly from the itouch and am wondering if the airport express would allow me to do this?

The ultimate answer, no you cannot. This might be something that is worth looking into, (the website below), though. Then you could stream it to a computer, then to Airport.

Working with numerous Apple Pages documents at the same time, I am looking for an efficient solution to switch faster from one document to the other. Integrating all them in a single framework, for exemple by switching from one to the other with a system of tabs would be of great help. Does anyone knows if such a possibility exists?

You're very welcome but Peggy really gave you the answer already.
With regard to the full screen apps, I don't think Apple have yet worked out how to make them elegantly coexist with other apps. The closest you can get is the four finger swipe gestures you may use on a trackpad if you have one (Mission Control and App Exposé).
In fact nowadays I use the App Exposé (four finger swipe down gesture) more often than I use Command-Accent to move between documents in the same app (when not in full screen). It also as the advantage of showing you thumbnails of recently opened documents below the ones already open within the app. If you haven't tried it, I suggest you give it a whirl.
I can't remember now but I think the four finger gestures are not enabled by default and you must switch them on in System Preferences > Trackpad > More Gestures.

How do I read a character and advance the scanner to the next one?

I'm writing a lexical and grammar analyzer and I don't usually program in Java. I have a method that reads one character and then parses it. The problem is that it keeps reading the same character over and over again, so my program gets stuck in an infinite loop.
How do I make it so that BufferedReader advances to the next character in the string?
Here is the code so far:
