SAVING EMAIL ATTACHMENTS TO THE CLOUD

When I am travelling, I would like to replace my laptop with my Playbook and mini keyboard but I can't for one limiting factor.  I need to be able to save files from email attachments directly to a cloud service like box or dropbox or attach files from the cloud to an email I want to send.
I do not think this is currently possible but can someone verify if this is true?  Is there a 3rd party email app that can do this?
Does RIM have a feature suggestion forumn that people can vote on additions they would like to see.
Without this feature, the playbook is too inefficient to replace my laptop while I am travelling.

Hi Cangolf,
Unfortunately the PlayBook OS has no mechanism that allows us to do this directly - yet. It is expected to be possible in BB10, which we plan to support. This should allow us to extend the native e-mail client to save email attachments directly to the cloud. It should also allow us to replace our limited e-mail client with the native PlayBook e-mail system.
The first BB10 phones will be coming on January 30th, and we estimatethe PlayBook will be upgraded to BB10 3-6 months after that.

  • Saving email attachments in os2.1

It seems that saving email attachments such as pdf's is slightly different in 0s2.1....I now have to touch and hold a downloaded attachment for a second or so, then the save/open option appears.  In, previous versions, you just had to tap the attachment to save and open.  Now if you tap a pdf attachment, it immediately opens as a temporary file in adobe reader.
Probably a better way now, but frustrating to have to learn it without any guideline.
Also, downloading attachments seems flakey....sometimes the spinning circle sits for many minutes before the download starts.
I am continuing to find the whole native email experience to be less than desireable.
The email duplication thread describes a number of user experiences from before and after the upgrade.  The good news is that the duplication has been solved, but the red x and difficulty to reliably send emails continues.

There is an even better way. If you have the dropbox or CloudOn App (both free for Ipad) you can always touch for two seconds the attachement in the email (PDF, Office doc) and select "Open In", you can then open in either of these Apps and save them to the Cloud. I use dropbox and it created a default folder called uploads where all my documents from email are saved...very neat.
    Hope this helps!

To save attachments, a couple of options include: (1) control-click on attachment, select "Save Attachment...", (2)  Click on "Show Details" in the upper right corner of the message, which then gives you some attachment functions including "Save".

  • Can i recover emails deleted from the cloud after reformating my HD

can i recover emails deleted from the cloud after reformating my HD, these are very important emails, after reformatting my hard drive to fix some trouble i was having w/ maverics, these copies were deleted, and my icloud deletes messages more than a month old. help??

    Hi,
If you use the iCloud.com login or the Mail App and "fetched" the Mail and deleted that way there is not way to get it back.
You could have archived it or placed it in Folders (created in Mail or on the web Login) and that will have stored them on the IMAP server and they would have been retrievable.

  • Auto saving email attachments using date email received as the name of the attachment file

I would like to be able to batch save hundreds of email attachments in my inbox to a specified folder and use the date and time email was received as the name of the file.  i found sample script that would give it timestamp but would prefer date and time of receipt.  any help would be greatly appreciated.
    thanks.

I found the below script online but it does not seem to be naming correctly.  it appears that the month always defaults to 12.  perhaps somehow could suggest a fix?

  • Viewing Multi Page tiff  files received as email attachments on the iPhone

I have spent hours trying to find a solution or a work-around to the problem of viewing multi page tiff ( .tif) email attachments on my iPhone 3G running 3.0. I have only ever been able to view the first page of these files.
Finally I decided to come up with my own solution. I have recently launched the website www.econvertimage.com. Anyone can now freely email tiff files to the site from their phone. These files are converted to pdf and then returned to the sender for viewing on their phone.
You can set up an auto forward for attachments coming from specific senders if you like. This way you will often receive the converted file at the same time as the original email. Visit the site for further details.
I hope this post may save others the frustration I've endured over the last few weeks looking for a solution.
I'm interested in future improvements people are keen to see for the site. I'll keep developing the functionality if there's a need. I look forward to receiving comments and feedback.
    Thanks

Sounds perfect - is it operational? Sent a test message this morning, never received the PDF.

  • Storing Email files on the cloud (maybe dropbox)?

I use the apple email client, and it works reasonably well for my purposes.  I like the fact that it is a local application, and can search through all of my old mail pretty quickly.  My one beef is that I use a mac at work, a mac at my home office and when I travel, I have my macbook air.  Anytime I change environments, I have to download all of my messages, and they appear that they haven't been dealt with.  What I want is to have one place to deal with all of my email accounts that is consistent between any of my environments.
So, the obvious solution is to have a web-based mail client.  However, that doesn't work when I'm not connected (like on a plane) and if I'm on a slow connection, I have the frustation of a slow mail experience.
The better choice would be to have all of my client files stored on my dropbox (not the mac dropbox, but the company dropbox.com).  Dropbox could handle all of the syncing, yet I could still have the benefit of a local mail client.
Can this work?  If not, any other ideas?
    Thanks!

I am not familiar with this problem, but so that you might get good advice I suggest you give more detail.
You say "it's locked". What is locked? How do you know it is locked? What happens when you try to use it?
When you say "uninstall Adobe and the cloud" what do you mean by "Adobe" and "the cloud" in this case? What specific Adobe software are you using?

  • Saving emails permanent on the iPad (IMAP)

    Hi Guys,
I have hundreds of mails and folders on my imap-mailaccount.
When I first set up and configured my iPad, all the Folders and Mails have been downloaded by my iPad.
But when I'm offline with my iPad, old emails cannot be openend.
I just see the title of the eMail. But when I want to open the mail, there is no text.
What can I do, that my iPad is saving every mail, if it was downloaded once?
    Kindest regards

Reset your iPad (Hold down the sleep and home buttons, ignore the red Off slider, wait for the Apple logo, let go of the buttons).

Thanks for responding. I must have deleted the document without noting the type. I guess that means the question can't be answered. Since then, I was able to open a MW Word document, so perhaps the format of what I was sent was the problem.

  • Saving email attachments into Photos

When I'm sent a picture as an email attachment I used to click at the top of the message and it would say "Export to iPhoto".
How can I Export to Photos now?  It still says "Export to iPhoto".  I'm dragging and dropping each one at the moment. Grrrr!
Is this a ****-up?  Anyone help?

If you right-click (or control-click) on the attachment itself, you should be offered the option "Export to Photos" now. I have no idea why Mail doesn't include that in the drop-down menu at the top of the message.

  • Cannot send or receive email from the cloud. all updates are competed and everything else is working fine on MAC. iPad sends and receives fine. any ideas.

On Imac I am not able to send or receive messages. All software is updated. My iPad that uses the same email address and the Cloud, sends and receives just fine. It is not "the colored" thing that is spinning but the little black and white circular icn that is spinning away. My other email address is functioning fine. It is merely the ICLOUD based email that is acting up. Any ideas?

First try deleting the account and reinstall it.
