Saving emails into a folder

On my previous Nokia I could save an email into one of my folders using the 'options' menu. On my new E71 there is no 'save' option in the email menu. Does anyone know how to save an email directly, without going to the bother of copying and pasting? I can save them as a page in bookmarks, but that is going to get very messy. Many thanks.

Not sure whether you can do this or not as I use a third party email application that can move mails into folders too. Although it's not free, it's not too expensive either. The app I use is called Profimail and it's available from here:

Drop down system does not work just flickers an example can not put an email into a folder

the drop down system doesn't work an example when I try to put an email into a folder when I click on the move message to location all the folder references just flicker and do not allow me to click on any thing another example when I tried to entered data into the "This happened" block below I just got flickering. Try to disable hardware acceleration.

Mail app crashes when moving email into a folder

Hi, I have an iphone 3GS, with a few email accounts, using Google premier mail (exchange), been fine for a year,now when I read and email and try to place it into a folder, as soon as I press on the folder icon, the app closes and returns to the home screen, all other accounts are fine, and my gmail personal account is fine.
I have restored the phone, restarted.
Anyone else having that problem, any ideas ?

Sorted, it seems that livemail configured for exchange and having Google premier for exchange, results in the mail app on the iPhone crashing, when selecting an email in the Google exchange mail box, then calling up the folders , it crashes. switched off livemail mail, worked fine.

How to put email into spam folder?

I get a lot of spam email on my Galaxy S4. I use the email app that came with the phone. My ISP is Time Warner Cable and I use their Road Runner email setup. On my phone I have to go through about 15 clicks to add one email address to the spam filter.I see no way to click on the email address and "Add to Spam Filter" in one click. I have to click on the email itself and the address, then the email address to open a new email, click on the address to highlight it so I can Edit and cut it, discard the new email, left click at the bottom of the phone to get to Settings, Spam addresses, Add the address by pasting it, then back out to my Inbox which is another 2-3 steps. Surely there is a shorter, simpler way.
Also, I am getting numerous emails from a ".tk" address instead of .com, .net, etc. address and I am not allowed to add these to the spam folder. Any ideas?

Would it be simpler to just delete the emails from the phone?
As far as what to do with the .tk emails...I don't know. I use Gmail, and I can set up filters, and the info syncs with my phone - emails that I set to go straight to folders and "skip the inbox" do so on the computer as well as on the gmail app on my phone. Using gmail, I could set a filter so anything with a .tk would go straight to the trash and I'd never see it, on my laptop or on my phone.
If you haven't looked into using gmail to pull in your RR email, I would recommend it. Gmail offers a lot of control over what happens to the incoming stuff, and it syncs beautifully on Android devices (d...uuuh!) !

Saving emails to a folder

On my mac I have folders that I can save emails to, on my iphone I don't. Is there some way to create a folder on the iphone to save mail to (example - work/personal)? On the bottom of the screen you have the option to move to a new mailbox, I just want a folder somewhere to be able to save some emails on the phone without having to leave them in the inbox. Is that possible?
How do people organize emails on the iphone? I do have 2 email accounts that the iphone is using, work and home. Is the whole "move" feature just meant to move email from one account to another?

A POP account is designed to be accessed with a single email client only. The iPhone's Mail client is designed to compliment the email client used on your computer to access the account - not a replacement for the email client used on your computer. For example, the iPhone's Mail client does not include a spam filter, or the ability to create rules, etc. Far from a full featured email client available on your computer.
An IMAP account is designed to be access with an email client on multiple computers or devices keeping all server stored mailboxes with each email client used to access the account synchronized with the server automatically. And the ability to create additional server stored mailboxes. Doing so will make the newly created server stored mailbox available with all email clients used to access the account - and any messages transferred to this mailbox with one email client will be available with all other email clients used to access the account.
None of this is available with a POP account.
You can access a Gmail account as an IMAP account with the email client on your computer, as well as with the iPhone's Mail client, Gmail has a good spam filter at the incoming mail server, plenty of server storage space available for the account, and is free.

Mail Error Messages and continually saving email in Drafts Folder

I am having problems attaching and sending Jpegs from within iPhoto. (4 images & 2 images all rescaled). I keep getting the Error message "Some actions taken while the [email protected] was offline could not be completed online" It then goes into a loop saving numerous drafts, (24 on 1 occasion) which I try to delete. It does not seem to be an ISP fault as the message appears whilst I am typing the text within Mail (this often disappears and has to be re-typed!)
I have already spent 2 hours on the phone talking to Support, so very disappointed that this has not been resolved. However I am about to upgrade to Leopard so hoping this may cure the Error - time will tell!

I wondered whether you had any luck with the error message and getting rid of it? My boss is having the same problem with his laptop but it's saying that the drafts have been saved in his "on my mac" but he doesn't have any folders..........

Saving Email to Documents Folder

I have always been able to save emails to My Documents files with attachements. Now they only save as text edit. How can I save them as in original format so that I can open and reply as I could last week. Something strange here! Why are all my email files now opening in Text Edit?

Yes using File. Save as. I've tried rich text, plain text and raw message. All the same, everythin saves and opens in Text Edit. No matter which format I try to save in there is no option to save the attachement and even this was there yesterday!

Saving email into DMS

Gw 7.0.3 on NW65 (soon to be running on Linux though)--our partners are
would like to implement procedures to save email in the libraries just like
any other corresondence. Only option appears to be WP format, but that is
an edit-able file unfortunately, at least by the creator. Does GW 8 have
any capability to save as a pdf per chance? Are there any 3rd party tools
available to do so?

Thanks--I have eCopy desktop, which is absolutley marvelous at creating PDF
formats--just does not integrate with GW DMS--I need some kind of direct
process. I cannot resonably ask the attorneys to "print" every incoming
email to a pdf and then import it in a separate step. I am hoping some
other law firm or financial institution has the same problem and there is a
tool out there that can do this with far less clicks.

Emails going into "Junk" folder

The default junk folder is called "Junk Email" however this one user has "Junk" folder above that in which only emails that he receives from linkedin.com go in there. My first thought was that he has a rule sorting linkedin.com emails
into that folder but after checking local and server side rules there are none with that criteria that exist.
Next since that's not a default folder, I said let's permanently delete the "Junk" folder and see what happens. Sure enough the next email he received from linkedin.com created a new "Junk" folder and sorted that email in there.
How can this be happening?
The user wants to keep the filtering on the low setting and we have already whitelisted linkedin.com.
I want to know how come there are two junk folders, one called "Junk" and the default "Junk Email" folder. Typically there is only the second one
How this mail is being routed in there because there are no rules that specify any mail to go into that folder.
Maybe there is a hidden rule I am not seeing. Possibly going to try OUTLOOK.EXE /cleanrules /cleanserverrules after hours and then re-create his existing rules.

Saving notes on a folder.

Still new to Imac,I wish to save some notes that I have typed on text edit (as I did not find a notepad or Word page like we do on PCs).I want to save it on a new folder that I managed to open in the Documents folder.I am not able to drag & drop the text file onto the New folder.How do I go about?

First 'Save" the TextEdit file. Doing so will present a screen in which you can name the doument, and place it wherever you choose. For my convenience I usually save new documents (files) to the Desktop.
Then drag the file from where it was saved to into that folder.
If you have tried that, and are getting a 'you can't do that type of message when you try to drop it into the folder, please give us the exact text of the message.

Saving email with attachments together

I am running leopard on an iMac. I am a recent convert to Mac from the PC, and since I get a lot of emails with attachments, I simply want to save the email and attachment as one entity, as I used to do on my PC. It is very important that I be able to easily know which attachments came with which email. Ideally I would like to retrieve a saved email from a folder, open it, and also see the attachments. Currently, when I try to save an email that contains attachments, I go to File and pull down SAVE AS... A box pops up asking me for the location and it also contains a box at the bottom for me to check if I also want to save the attachments. I check the box, but no attachments are saved. I can go under File and pull down to Save Attachments, and it will save them to wherever I want, but I need the email and attachments together as one unit, for later retrieval. SO CAN ANYONE TELL ME WHAT I AM DOING WRONG HERE ??

Ok, first your attachments in Leopard Mail are saved in homefolder/library/Mail Downloads, so whatever you do, do not delete attachments in that folder.
Second, if you have an IMAP account, go to mail>preferences>accounts>advanced... and make sure that for "keep copies of messages for offline viewing" the option "all messages and their attachments" is chosen.
Third, where are you trying to save these emails, outside of Leopard Mail? I would suggest you save them within Leopard Mail, in mailboxes you will have created for that effect - to create a mailbox go to mailbox>new mailbox, choose the location you want to create the mailbox in as in under your IMAP account, or on your mac, and choose a name for your mailbox. Once that mailbox is created, you can move the emails you want to keep by either selecting the email(s), dragging and dropping in the mailbox you want to keep them, or you can right click and move to, or you can go to message>move to...

Can't move email into folders

I archive my sent emails into dedicated folders in one year increments. That is, I have a dedicated folder for email I sent in 2011, another one for 2010 and so on. This week I tried to move some sent emails into a folder dedicated to 2009 and prior. Every time I try to do this, I get a message that the emails can't be moved; regardless of whether I try to move 100 at a time or 10 at a time.
I'd like to export these older sent emails into an Mbox (they're taking up a LOT of space).Any ideas? Thanks!

I can't find a permission setting that would only allow a single file to be moved to a folder
Don't know if you already tried but use a check and repair permissions on your Mac using either Apple Disk Utility (applications / utilities) or a third party like Cocktail.
If still the same happens restart bridge holding down option key and choose reset preferences.
When the problem still exist please provide more details about OS and Bridge versions as well as computer specs.

How do I create and file emails into folders?
I've created a "Smart Mailbox" (whatever that is, lol) and tried to drag emails into that folder but it doesn't work. When I click on the email and want to move it, nothing shows up to move it to: including the smart mailbox that was created.
Any suggestions?

I have heard this statement before, but it is not true. A message in a Smart Mailbox (or a file in a Smart Folder in the Finder) is not an alias. It is simply the same original in a different context.
An alias, in Mac OS terminology, is a separate and distinct file from the original. It is a file whose property is that, when opened, it redirects and opens a different file (the "original"). But the alias itself is a distinct file. It can be renamed, moved, deleted, labeled, etc., without having any effect on the original. None of this is true of the "contents" of a Smart Mailbox/Folder. If you delete a message in a Smart Mailbox, you are deleting the original message. If you drag the message to a (non-Smart) Mailbox, you are moving the original. Some people seem to be confused that a message (or file) can appear to be in more than one place at a time. It is, nevertheless, the exact same message, and misunderstanding this point could have unfortunate consequences.

Entourage 2008 : applescript for Filing Emails into folders?

I run a script that archives all emails that are older than 4 weeks into an Archive Folder in "On My Computer" in Entourage.
I'm wondering is it possible to to the following via apple script for Entourage 2008:
In the Archive folder, within each email find the senders email address. Then create a sub-folder (if it doesn't exist) with that senders domain as the name of the folder (eg if sender address was "[email protected]", it could create a folder called "customer.com" or "customer_com".
Then move that email into that folder.
if it can be done, this would save me a huge amount of time sorting old emails into subfolders for each customer.

I'm glad it did import. We've had several users that it simply refused to import an Entourage X Identity. BTW, using category colors is never remembered. It's one of the little hidden gems that you can use. Speaking of hidden gems, be sure to enable in the Entourage Address Book the First Name, Last Name columns and get rid of the old Name column. Finally real sorting.

When you clicked to resolve, this did not delete the older Microsoft fonts. I suggest that you remove those. Users have reported they were activated again.
This shouldn't be a problem for you since you moved to a new computer and didn't install Office X, but older versions of Office install the Microsoft fonts in the User's Library/Fonts folder. Anyone with older fonts here should delete them.
BTW, Office can run without any of it's installed fonts. A few of it's menus might look a bit funky, but it's ok to remove all if you want to test.

Cannot drag 'n drop emails into folders

I cannot do this simple function in Leopard Mail. Every once in awhile it will permit me to drag an email into a folder on the left pane, but usually I cannot.
Does anyone have any thoughts or suggestions?

I want to add my name to this list. My problem is that it is impossible to erase a mail from the Draft Box...no way.
Some times I find neww draft message without doing them. Lateli I got ridd of five drafts with drag and drop them into the bin. All except one. For that one untill now I did not find a solution.
ONLY ONE WILL REMAIN!!
