Saving favorite searches?

Is there a way to save favorite/often-used searches? It's repetitive to have to type in the same search keywords week after week to repeat it, having even the last 5 searches available in something like a "favorite searches" or "most recent searches" function would be a great help!

They don't have a way to save searches that I know of, but it sounds like a good idea to me. Your other idea was good too in the other thread about an email for new channels and free previews.

You Tube App no longer working iPad1 Workaround loses all my saved favorites Why?

Hi everyone!
The default youtube app on my iPad1, IOS 5.1.1 stopped working about a week ago, presenting "cannot connect to You Tube " as the only Error message. No Explanation.. no choices... . It shows a sign in screen, no data can be accepted as it says it "cannot connect to You Tube".
I tried contacting You Tube by various means. Almost impossible to get through. I got a phone number. But they had overload for a week or two now, so saying call back at another time for the "You Tube" choice 3. Now it says Choice 5 for You Tube questions and a recorded message (no possibility to speak to a human) directs us to go to "You Tube" .com / support. No help there... old old connection problems solved back in 2009 and iPods, iPhones NO iPads at all... Frustrated...I left that avenue.
I went to this Help Forum called reddit (before I realized they stole your apple logo) but their answers said to try using the Internet version of You Tube to get around this problem. So I managed to get the You Tube "mobile" connection on the web to work instead.
BUT! All my saved/favorites from the iPad 1 are missing!
Instead there is a hodgepodge of various You Tubes I've views on other computer devices I've used to access the web from the same ISP, but NOT the sign in /log in for the iPad1!
How to get my old iPad login working again for all of my favorite You Tube (mostly valuable computer tutorials? Mostly they are on how to use various apps on the iPad that would take long time or "forever" to search again to get back.
How to get all my years (five!!) of saved favorite You Tubes I carry with me on the iPad back again? (I can't carry a desktop computer around, right?).
What is going on here??
Does anyone else experience this problem?
The initial question here came up empty as no one on Apple Community has asked this question before! Does that mean I'm the only one here asking about the You Tube App on the Apple Community?

From what I have been reading on other sites, the app stopoed working when the iPhone 4S was released since it includes Siri. If you look at the box on the right of this thread, you will see other threads just like this one on how the app no longer works.

Restrict users from saving own search in existing Named Searches

I have created some Named Searches that will be used by the MDM users. These users are only allowed to use these named searches (in their search selections) but they are not allowed to 'overwrite' any of the named searches by their own search criteria.
How can I prevent the user from 'overwriting' the Named Searches?
Because even when I set the user role to "None" for all functions and "Read-Only" for all tables and fields, the user can still make their own search and Save that as Named Search (and thus 'overwriting' the existing Named Search which impacts also the other users that make use of these Named Searches).
We are using MDM 5.5 SP5 (5.5.42.106).
Or is this an autorisation bug in MDM?

Just for your information:
We have upgraded to MDM 5.5 SP06 Patch 3 (build 5.5.63.57) and they have introduced new role feature to protect named searched to be overwritten (see also release notes of patch 3 - OSS Note 1234675).
So you can now change the Role (in MDM Console) and under section MDM Data Manager, you can set None or Execute for the function of Saving a Named Search.
If you set it to None, then the menu option in the MDM Data Manager of saving an search as a Named Search (and hence overwriting the named search) is greyed out. Only when you set it to Execute (which is automatically set during upgrade to thi snew version when the role has set it's Default function to Execute), then the user can overwrite the named search with his own search.
So, issue solved!

Makes enough sense and I thought it might be a profile issue, but only after the fact, so why does is not say this upfront ...

I am looking for: Saved folder search for Mail items (Notes & ToDos)

The google and Apple website search results take me to the sme portion of OS 10,5's site, There I am told (or read) +"And everything you create in Mail — to-dos, notes, and, of course, email messages — appears in a Spotlight search of your system."+
Unfortunately, this hs been the case for me and if it truly does work, I would like to make it happen on my computer. Especially after reading this:+Integration with Spotlight, Coverflow. Since all my "stuff" lives in Mail and iCal, it can easily be found using Spotlight. Even cooler are saved Finder searches that display notes and tasks using Coverflow. (I create a tag by adding °, shift-option-8, to key words.)+
Has anyone else been able to get the mention spotlight functionality? All help will be appreciated.

Check System Prefs >SPotlight >Search Results. There, you check all the folders or areas that you want to appear in search results. This way, I guess, you can have parts indexed but not usually have to look at matches from those parts when you search, perhaps for speed or keeping down number of hits you have to review. On my new mac, Mail was not checked and I had the same problem. In theother part of the Spotlight Prefs, Privacy, you can exclude areas from being indexed at all.
BTW, we are mac and mastiffs too at our house, have eleven yr old ENglish Mastiff still holding his own as king of the place.

2nd Gen. Apple TV loses Internet Radio Saved Favorites

OK I'm a little unhappy now. I've taken the time to save some favorite internet radio stations on my 2nd Gen. Apple TV which I'm otherwise very happy with. For reasons unknown they have disappeared twice! This was a time consuming process that I was not planning on duplicating. I've got pictures that I've deleted from my computer that won't disappear from my screen saver and intentionally saved favorites that I can't find. Any help?

Your ATV2 is getting a signal through the HDMI cable, probably per HDMI spec. I could turn off my old ATV when connected via component cables...... Don't know of a solution other than through feedback to Apple.

Users are losing saved local searches

Hello,
Users are saving local searches but the local search is not saved when the user re-logs in. This happens sometimes but not all of the time. Is this a know bug?
I have tested this and I have also lost a saved local search.

As for as I know this is fixed in 7.1, even you unload the repository and re-load, the searches will never lost.

HTML character entities problem in saved regex search and replace query

I have a many search and replace regular expression queries (.dwr files) that I have saved. I have a problem specifically with saved queries that contain HTML entities such as "& nbsp ; " or "& shy ;" (spaces added otherwise code doesn't render in browser). For example if I use the following search:
([\d]{3}& shy ;[\d]{3}& shy ;[\d]{4}|[\d]{3}& nbsp ;[\d]{3}& nbsp ;[\d]{4})
(which searches for numbers in the 888-555-1234 or 888 555 1234 formats)
This will work fine if I manually enter it into the search text area. However if I save it to file and reload it, it will no longer work because the  and characters are now displayed as " " (space) and "-"(shy) rendering the saved query useless as it's no longer searching for the code. I have some fairly long and complex queries and this is becoming a problem.

Thanks for your reply Kenneth, but that is not what I'm trying to accomplish. I'm looking for the HTML entities that exist in the source code which are & shy ; and & nbsp ; (without the spaces). As I mentioned above, if I enter them manually in the search box, I will get the corrrect results. If I save the search and then reload it, the special characters are no longer in HTML and the search is now useless.
Just for example again
In an open document in code view insert a number in the format (without the spaces): 888& nbsp;888& nbsp ;8888
Open a search dialog box and enter (without the spaces): [\d]{3}& nbsp ;[\d]{3}& nbsp ;[\d]{4}
The search will find that entry.
Save search as phone.dwr for example. Then load it and try the search again. It won't work because upon loading the search Dreamweaver replaces the HTML code which was saved with the rendered HTML. So now the search shows up as: [\d]{3} [\d]{3} [\d]{4} which will not find the string with hard coded non-breaking spaces that I'm looking for.
Basically I want to be able to save a search query for reuse. When I load a search query, I want it to be exactly what I saved, not something that DW has rendered (that doesn't work).

Idvd 08 no longer properly saving Favorites.

Having unexplained problems now with Favorites. Did not have this problem months ago when I revised the "Lines" template and saved the revised version of "Lines" as a favorite of my own.
Tonight, I needed to create another template based on "Lines". I deleted the line of text that slides in, used the text tool to type my company name, and saved it as a new favorite. All looks fine, but when I quit iDVD and come back in to start a New Project, and select my favorite, the favorite is all messed up, like nothing saved. The line that slides in is still there and strangely adopted the name I gave to the favorite. And none of the text I typed on the screen stayed. But the thumbnail preview in the favorite list shows the text I typed in.

I just found out that I have the same problem with iDVD 08 - it won't show any photos, music or movies in the Media pane.
I really need to solve this problem! I can't use iMovie if it won't let me add photos or music. And if I can't even add movies to iDVD, it's completely useless!

HT5429 how do I clear previously saved address searches in maps

I want to clean up my Maps app and cant seem to figure out how to clear previously saved addresses. I hit clear but they are still there.

Yes! I already turn off the autofill. But the list still come out when I typing in the search bar.

clean up your bookmarks to remove any entries that

Saving Favorites

I am curious how to setup a way saving a user’s
favorites. (Not URL shortcuts) Such as a users is viewing my site
and likes a picture or movie etc.. The user can click a “Add
to my favorites” button and they can go back to it at a later
date.
Now while I can already do this using a separate database
table for holding the values of User Identity and Favorite
Identity. Then when the user logs in and goes to the favorites list
the database is just queried and for the User Identities favorites.
Now while this has been an efficient method for a small site with
not many people viewing it. I can for a future problem with this
method. It would tax the database having to pull hundreds of
entries per user.
So how do the big sites do it? (Youtube, Amazon, etc..) Would
they be using the same type of system I have set up? What
methodology would be more efficient?

So what would the the table look like?
The way mine is set up is the columns look like this:

Saving favorites filters or transition for the next project

I have about 20 filters and transitions that I like using and saved in favorites folder. Is there a way to save or recover the favorites folder after trashing preferences in the new upcoming project? I trash the preferences quite often, because I work with H, SD and web contents.

Thanks! Solved! Now I can have transition bin and filter bin folders that I can drag into a new one. First I will create a dummy project with select all me favorites and save it as Favorites Project. It will save me a ton of time to go through my 1001 plug ins filters and transitions.

Saving a Search

I have done a search over a large number of PDF documents. It will take a while to go through all the results -- more time than I generally have in one sittting. Is there any way to save the results of a search, both so I can go through the whole search results and so I can try various methods to refine the original search?

ADF without OA Framework does not include the query saving, personalization, zoom functionality, and other things you're asking about so it would be best to get a suggestion from the folks most familiar with OA Framework in that other forum.
Regarding When-Window-Closed, in a browser-based environment this would need to be done using Javascript in the browser. Google for "javascript window close event" and there are numerous hits.
