Saving file/pictures in PS elements 10
Hi,
Just brought PSE10
issue is when i scan a picture and then edit it i go to save it but there is already a IMG file of the same picture.
Every time i scan a picture its like it auto saves a copy in a seperate folder labelled the current days date and IMG.
Is there anyway i can change this? all i want to do is scan a picture and save it in a folder i created. without getting confussed with another image.
Thanks
If you use WIA Support you should get this pop-up window, where you can set up the details:

Saving files in .jpeg - Photoshop Elements 10
I suddenly got problems with saving files in .jpeg format. I use camera raw in my camera, and edit photos in Element, and then save a .jpeg version of the photo, and until recently that operation has went on without problems, but suddenly I got no other alternatives than .psd. Why?
Hi,
Most likely reason is that the image is in 16 bit format not 8 bit - a JPG can only support 8 bit formats.
Try changing the mode: Image -> Mode -> 8 bits/channel
If you use RAW images, you can set the colour depth when yo first open the image (see center of window at the bottom).

Saving pictures edited in Elements 6 back to iPhoto
I am have started editing pictures in Elements 6 by choosing that as the default editor. When I try to save the picture back to iPhoto it does not show up in the folder it seems to be saved to. Am I having several senior moments here? I go File > SaveAs and choose the event file in iPhoto.
This also may be of some help:
Using Photoshop (or Photoshop Elements) as Your Editor of Choice in iPhoto.
1 - select Photoshop as your editor of choice in iPhoto's General Preference Section's under the "Edit photo:" menu.
2 - double click on the thumbnail in iPhoto to open it in Photoshop. When you're finished editing click on the Save button. If you immediately get the JPEG Options window make your selection (Baseline standard seems to be the most compatible jpeg format) and click on the OK button. Your done.
3 - however, if you get the navigation window that indicates that PS wants to save it as a PS formatted file. You'll need to either select JPEG from the menu and save (top image) or click on the desktop in the Navigation window (bottom image) and save it to the desktop for importing as a new photo.
This method will let iPhoto know that the photo has been editied and will update the thumbnail file to reflect the edit..
NOTE: With Photoshop Elements 6 the Saving File preferences should be configured: "On First Save: Save Over Current File". Also I suggest the Maximize PSD File Compatabilty be set to Always.
If you want to use both iPhoto's editing mode and PS without having to go back and forth to the Preference pane, once you've selected PS as your editor of choice, reset the Preferences back to "Open in main window". That will let you either edit in iPhoto (double click on the thumbnail) or in PS (Control-click on the thumbnail and seledt "Edit in external editor" in the Contextual menu). This way you get the best of both worlds

TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier versions) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. There are versions that are compatible with iPhoto 5, 6, 7 and 8 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
NOTE: The new rebuild option in iPhoto 09 (v. 8.0.2), Rebuild the iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup" makes this tip obsolete. -
Hello Guys.
I had problems in the Computer before and changed my HD. I saved in my all files documents in (Time Capsule). How can I put all my files, pictures documents on my new HD?
Please Help.
Thank You
Julio SkovHey
Thank you very much for replay.
Would you explain to me how can I do?

The pictures are attached to e-mail messages. I can get as far as Documents and Settings and my name but there is no Local Settings folder shown. Using MS search with the name of the file gives nothing. I use Windows XP and Mozilla Firefox. The file appears in Photoshop Elements and I can save it as a psd file but I cannot find either the jpg or the psd files to move them into My Pictures.
The Local Settings folder is a hidden folder.
(1) If the file appears in the Downloads manager (Tools menu or Ctrl+j), you can right-click it and use Open Containing Folder to get directly to it.
(2) To be able to see hidden folders on Windows XP in general, try this:
Open My Computer or Windows Explorer
Tools > Folder Options > View tab
Scroll down and look for the checkbox regarding hidden files and folders and unhide them.
Hopefully this will resolve the issue. Any luck?
(3) By the way, you may be able to save the images from the email message to a more convenient location by right-clicking the links and using Save Link As. (Before you open them for editing.) -
IPhoto files vs. Photoshop Elements files
I am confused by what appears to be two different but related filing systems in these two programs. When I open PSE and browse it goes to date files, (e.g. johnhendrie>pictures>iphotolibrary>2005>11>29>filename). When in iPhoto the same file exists in Library with aliases in any of the folders where I have put it. In iPhoto I see no johnhendrie>pictures>iphotolibrary>2005>11>29>filename. This makes it difficult to find specific photos when working in PSE.
What is the difference between the two methods? I also think, but have not confirmed, that deleting a file from the iPhoto Library does not delete it from the PSE tabulation.
Enlightening comments will be very appreciated

iMac Mac OS X (10.3.9) iPhoto 5.0.4, PSE 2.0Hi John,
The iPhoto Library folder in the Finder is organized differently from what you see within iPhoto.
Two Apple kbs for you to read
Don't tamper with files in the iPhoto library folder
About the iPhoto Library folder
This is a view of how the iPhoto Library looks in the Finder.
It is organized by Year folders. Inside the Year folders are Month folders. Inside the Month folders are the days of the Month. Inside the day folders are the photos you took on that day. If you imported video clips and RAW files on that day they will be in an Originals folder. If you have edited any photo imported on that day, the original will be in that folder also.
You should set up PS Elements as the external editor within iPhoto Preferences. You can then double click an image in iPhoto and it will open in PS Elements. When saving the image with PS Elements make sure the file is flattened and save with the same name. Make sure you do a "Save" and not a "save as".
Deleting a file from within iPhoto will not delete it from the HD until iPhotos trash is emptied.

Cropped in Photoshop but saved file can't be seen in iPhoto browser??
iPhoto Preferences > General > Edit photo: > in Adobe Photoshop CS4
When I open an image in iPhoto, and right click to open in external editor, then crop the photo and Save As, the cropped image does not show up when I browse iPhoto. When I command-click the title of the PS file, however, it shows me that the cropped file actually exists inside the exact iPhoto folder where the original picture is.
I am having trouble understanding the basic idea of how iPhoto's library works and how PS CS4 interacts when you save an image.
I want to keep using iPhoto as my one and only library, but this kind of behavior is crazy making. Can someone shed some light, or point me towards the right thread?

Saving files to a specific folder
I used to be a PC, now I am a Mac, learning fast, but I have a problem in saving files from the web. I am using OS 10.4.7
I am using Firefox and Thunderbird.
When I try to save email or a picture from a web site I am presented with a Menu; Save as, Where and Format. The 'Where' is the problem.
When I click 'WHERE', I am presented with a list;
Network
Mac HD 80
Mac HD 60
Desktop
MCMP (HOME, where all my different folders are)
Applications
Movies
Music
Picures
When I click on MCMP, my home with all my sub folders, there is no way to save the file any place but just in MCMP. I have no options which folder in MCMP or sub folder of a main topic folder. Saving to MCMP just puts the file in with all my different folders.
How do I direct exactly which folder the item is to be saved into.
Thank You
WM300wm
Spring loaded folders: Drag a file to a flder, hold it over it and the folder will open. You can use this to drop files into sub folders and so on. The timing on how long you have to hold is controlled in the Finder preferences -> General Pane.
Another possibilty for your original question is to use Default Folder X, a shareware, that makes navigating open and close dialogues very easy.

can't figure out why the gif file won't loop. Set up 5 photo frames 480x320pixels x 72pix/in in PE11, creating a layer for each. Each layer visible. Saved for web. Checked animate. The preview plays fine. But when I save the file and then click on the saved file to play, it re-opens the layers instead of playing the loop. The only SAVE option that shows up is "IMAGES ONLY"
Using photoshop elements 11 on MAC 10.6.8. Either I'm setting this up wrong or is there a hidden setting I need to change? Thanks for the thought, Barbara B. Not sure if this counts, but emailed the file to myself [different email account, same computer] but it would not play as an email attachment. Any suggestions for a web upload where I can test your suggestion? Seems like there should be a different save option other than IMAGES ONLY but that is the only option I'm given.

adobe starter edition has photo numbers by the picture such as DSCO0283.JPG , where can I find that number on the pictures in PHOTOSHOP ELEMENTS 12--reason being that photoshop elements will not convert my catalog to version 12. If i had that number I could manually rebuild my collections into the photoshop elements 12, but all that i see in photoshop elements is dates and i have multiple pictures from the same dates. HELP! I
finally getting back to this project---adobe starter edition 3.2 is on a windows XP computer
ADOBE PHOTOSHOP ELEMENTS 12 is on our Windows 8.1 computer.
error messages--- had to give up trying to convert---I copied all our pictures to our windows 7 laptop and I installed adobe photoshop elements 12 (my bought program)
I wanted to try to convert there first. also I copied our catalog to this computer also. Everything was working fine I could see the collections just as they where on the XP computer.
then I tried to convert on the laptop. I believe the error said something about corrupt file, so I gave up that day. Next day I tried to open ADOBE STARTER EDITION 3.2 and it wanted an unlock code, no such code exists. and my copy of Elements 12 turned into a trial version which has expired. So I am a little hesitant to try to convert on the XP computer and mess up the existing catalog,
unless there is a fool proof way. I have tried manually making collections/ albums on Windows 8.1 and PHOTOSHOP ELEMENTS 12 and coping pictures into the new albums. sloooow!!
I probably have about 4500 pictures and 150 collections/ albums to go. So any suggestions would be appreciated. -
How are pictures in Photoshop elements 9 linked to program?
I have 40,00 plus pictures shown in my elements program and since I bought and loaded Photoshop elements 9 (I previously had versions 3,4,5,6,7,8), I get the notice "searching for missing files" and can't use the program software for photo processing. I downloaded all my pictures from Windows 7 pictures on my computer and uninstalled Photoshop Elements 9 from my computer..
When I reinstalled PE 9, my pictures were there even though I had eliminated them (I thought) from my hard drive and the problem of "searching for muissing file" still existed.
How are my pictures attached to PE 9 and how do I eliminate that link and start all over with PE 9?
Need helpOhboy 108Thanks for your suggestions and interest.I downloaded all my pictures to an external hard drive, cleared out my internal hard drive photos and now use my external hard drive as the storage and source. No problem with "Elements" constantly looking for lost files.

My guess is that you have solved the problem but if continues maybe this will help. I had a similar problem where pictures kept showing up in Organizer even though I had deleted the catalog and rebuilt it and even uninstalled and reinstalled PSE 9. I solved it by checking under edit-preferences-files and making sure that the save location was correct. I also changed the catalog location from the default. I suspect that there was a registry entry pointing to the old file and/or catalog location.

I was saving files from an old win95 machine to bring them to a new laptop which is windows 7. I plugged in the drive which is not full and I can only see the hp launcher. In drive properties this drives shows 100 pct full.
I can and did pull up an old simple save backup and restore pictures.
The windows 7 machine is a locked down work machine. Maybe the file structure was changed by the windows 95 machine and now my windows 7 machine can not see the root directory?
I have not written to the drive since storing all of the pictures from the 95 machine and unplugging the external hard drive.
I am looking for help on how to see the files in the root directory that I simply use the copy command to move them on to the external drive.OldGhias,
Have you found a solution yet? I don’t know if I will be of any help but I was curious and no one else has chimed in yet.
I don’t quite understand all of your statement.
To clarify, you were making SimpleSave backups from Win95 and cannot see them all on the Win7 laptop?
Or
You were copying files over (SimpleSave utility not used) and you cannot see those files on Win7 but you can on the Win95 machine?
Do you have another Win7 machine you could connect the external to, to see if the files are still not showing (one that is not locked for work)?
On the drive that shows full, can you see it in Disk Management showing the correct size of the drive and also another CD drive? Not your real CD/DVD drive, it’s actually a CD emulator that is attached to the HDD for encrypting the backups and all SimpleSave’s have them.
Lastly, did you reformat the SimpleSave drive to Fat32 first?
My understanding is that USB support was quite limited on Win95 machines. Since Win95 is Fat32 and the SimpleSave drive is by default NTFS, I would think it would not work. -
Having problems getting saved files in PS CS3 to show up in folders in Vista - help?
My sincerest apologies if this has floated across oyur screens before, but I don't seem to be pluggin in the correct set of keywrds to bring it up in the search if it has.
Here's my dilemma. I just bought a new computer which came preloaded with Vista, and uploaded my old copy of CS3 onto it. The program seems to be working fine, except that when I open a file in Photoshop and edit it, then save it in a new file (as I do for most of my photoshoots, etc), or even when I save it in the orignial folder, the new "saved" file will not show up in the Vista folder. If I go back to Photoshop and open the folder via File>Open, I can access all of my pictures, but to I cannot access them to upload to the internet, email, use in other programs, etc.
If I go into "Recently Changed Documents" I can find them, but they seem to be in a temp folder in the Adobe folders. But again, if I go back to Adobe, it says they are in the folder I put them in.
Any ideas what's going on here?
Thanks so much for any help you can offer,
CassThey are hidden for whatever reason, either you have a permission problem or they are registered incorrectly with Explorer. Open the folder, then check Extras --> Folder Options. Disable the Hide System Files option and then the more generic Hidden Files section a little lower. If that reveals the files, it's time to check the File Types tab in the same panel and see, why it actually thinks your documents are system files. the simplest solution would be to remove the PSD association and then create it new, when you open a file wit6h a double-click. Of course al lthe above assumes that not some security tool or another application is "stealing" your file type associations. If you have such tools, checking their config may already solve the problems.

Transcoding vob file to Adobe Premiere Elements
Summary: Seek for the VOB files to Adobe Premiere Elements
Workflow- Read on the article and you will learn how to import VOB
videos to Premiere Elements with smooth editing.
Q: VOB files will not make sound on Adobe Premiere Elements
“I have some VOBs that I would like to edit using Adobe Premiere
Elements and share on YouTube or other sites. My problems is that my
VOBs do not have sound on Adobe Premiere Elements 11. I’m very new at
this. I know it can be done. I just need some help to get me pointed in
the right direction.”
After collecting some VOB video clips, you may plan to transfer VOB
video to Adobe Premiere Elements, but it’s a bit of trouble. Premiere
Elements seems not be able to ingest the .vob files correctly like no
audio track. So, how to deal with VOB video in Adobe Premiere Elements?
Although Adobe claimed that Premiere Elements(7/8/9/10/11/12) offer
native VOB support, there are still some video, audio codec problems
while importing/editing VOB clips in Premiere Elements like the above
mentioned no sound. The best method to avoid any problems is to
transcode VOB into a Premiere Elements most compatible format like
MPEG-2.
If you looking for a solution for this problem likewise, check out Brorsoft Video Converter for Mac
which is entitled as a top VOB Converter for Mac users. It supports
encoding all VOB files to MPG so that you can easily import the VOB to
Adobe Premiere Elements for editing on Mac. This will help you import
the file correctly and saving the rendering time. What’s more, this Mac
VOB converter also offers the optimal preset files for Final Cut Pro,
iMovie, Avid Media Composer, FCE, Adobe Premier Pro and more to help you
solve the incompatibility problems in different NLE apps. To convert
VOB to Premiere on Windows(8), simple turn to Brorsoft Video Converter
to get the work done.
Below is a step-by-step guide on how to encode VOB to MPEG2
format for Premiere Elements editing with Mac OS X like Mavericks,
Mountain Lion, Lion.
Step 1: Download and install VOB to Premiere Elements Converter to your Mac. Then load your source movie to it.
Step 2: Click the format bar, and move mouse cursor to Adobe
Premiere/Sony Vegas --> MPEG-2(*.mpg) as output format. It is also
great for editing in Premiere Elements.
Step 3: The Mac VOB to Premiere Elements Converter
enables users to adjust audio and video settings before VOB to MPG
conversion. Click the “Settings” button and customize proper video/audio
parameters if necessary. Video size, bitrate and fame rate can be
adjusted as you like.
Step 4: Click "Convert" button to start converting VOB for Adobe Premiere Elements on Mac OS.
After a shot conversion, you will be able to import/load VOB videos
into Premiere Elements for editing without any video, audio issues.
Source:
jacktellyoutipsforvideos.wordpress.com/2014/02/28/no-sound-when-importing-vob-to-premiere-elements-best-solution/
My guess is that these are 'Named User' licenses and not Concurrent licenses. That just means that every license has a single user and that users is expected to register. Did they just give you one DVD with the program and then 30 license keys? If so there is probably no way you will get around the registration process.

How can I save a picture in Photoshop Elements that was emailed to me using Photoshop Elements?
Save the attachment in a folder.
From the Organizer menu choose:
File >> Get Photos & Videos >> From Files & Folders
Navigate to your image and click Open.
If the photo is embedded, make a copy or screen grab and then whilst it’s still held in memory open the Elements Editor.
From the menu click:
File >> New >> Image from clipboard
Then use File >> Save As
Then choose jpeg.
