Saving files back to EX4 from remote location after local work

Hello everyone, I work remotely on files when I'm at home.   My Ex4 is at my office and I access the files using WD My Cloud App.  Naturally I select the file in the app, it opens on my local computer.  I do the work and hit save.  The file is saved locally to the following location. C:\Users\(MYUSERNAME)\AppData\Roaming\com.wd.WDMyCloud\Local Store Then I'm in the habit of saving a copy to my desktop for easy location, then dragging it back to the WD My Cloud App and into the original remote NAS folder. Is there a simpler way of simply saving directly to the original NAS EX4 location? This feels like it's a total n00b question - but I haven't found a direct Save to / Save as option. How does one accomplish this? Thanks. -Opus

Thanks for your reply ArMak.  I work on typical business office file types:  doc, xls, msg, etc.  There's not really a problem with saving, opening, uploading, or downloading. My question really has to do with best practices when using the WD MyCloud app to work with files that are on a remote drive far away.  Since the drive is remote and not on the same network, naturally it doesn't show up in a file explorer on the computer.  The shares and the files on the drive have to be accessed throught the WD MyCloud app. So my scenario is this:  When I want to work on a file that's on my office EX4 when travelling, I open it by clicking on it from the MyCloud app.  The file then opens locally on my laptop using the relevant program installed thereon - for example, a .doc file on the remote NAS opens on the local copy of Word.  No problem. After editing the file, I can't just press "save" in Word and have it saved on the NAS in my office.  Of course that makes sense.  Instead I have to save the newly edited file locally on my laptop.  Then drag it back into the share and upload it via the MyCloud App. My question is... is that the only way to do it?   Is there some way that one can directly save to the remote NAS without all these steps? I hope that was clearer.  Thanks for your help.-opus

  • How to load jar files from remote location

    Hi all,
I am trying to load jar files from remote server, from a servlet which is running on OC4j.
For doing this,First I am getting ClassLoader by using ClassLoader.getSystemClassLoader() and then type casting it to URLClassLoader.
But by doing it I am getting ClassCastException, because oc4j returns oracle.classloader.PolicyClassLoader instead of java.net.ClassLoader.
Appreciate if anyone can tell me how to load remote jar files using oracle.classloader.PolicyClassLoader .
    Thanks

    Hi,
I suppose you know about this, but just in case.
I have used jnpl to load jar files from remote location.

  • Cisco video camera monitoring software from remote location

    Hello
What is the best way to use the  Cisco video camera monitoring software from remote location.
I am talking about the AVMS / SWVMS software.
I am thinking of either a vpn tunnel or Remote Desktop (Terminal Services).
I would like to use the vpn tunnel, but am afraid that the encryption/decryption of all data will drastically slow down the data throughput.
    THanks,
    Cliff
    CCO: clifford.gormley

    Hi Clifford,
Thank you for posting. I use the AVMS software remotely and it works good. At first I changed the http ports of each camera and forwarded those ports in the router. I set up the cameras in the remote AVMS software with the WAN IP address and port number. That worked quite well. I then decided to try to reach the cameras through a VPN tunnel. I found that it worked perfectly and I was able to view up to 6 cameras. Your results will vary depending on how much bandwidth you have at each end. The important thing is the upload speed at the camera end of the tunnel. I have anywhere from 3-4 Mbps at any given time for the upload speed at the camera side and 30-40 Mbps download speed at the AVMS server side. I have also used UltraVNC to view the AVMS server through the tunnel and that worked well. Note that if you view the AVMS software using RDP you will see a black screen where the video should be. This is a limitation of RDP, not the software.
Please reply if you have any questions.

  • How to send files back to TC from external hard drive quickly?

    Hi,
I have just archived 500gb of my TC to external hard drive which was directly connected to TC. I have replaced failing hard drive in TC on 2GB (£50) and reformated gain. Now is ready to be used. Then I wanted to put archive files back onto TC from that external hard drive which is directly connected to TC. The problem is that when I was archiving it files where send directly from TC to external hard drive and it took approximately 5 hours to do it. Now to reverse all that taking about 5 days because for some stupid reason hard drive is sending all that files through my desktop and back to TC again.
Is there any faster way to do it?

A: you DONT modify your TM backup, youd just add files into the same HD, however thats no good because........
Youre trying to create a nasty choke point for data failure by putting time machine AND your files on ONE DRIVE,
very bad idea,   hard drives are cheap as dirt, buy another,  2 MINIMUM external redundant backups of your vital data, period.
also,  cloud isnt a place for data archives, and not safe, not secure.
The Tragedy that will be, the tragedy that never should be
Always presume correctly that your data is priceless and takes a very long time to create and often is irreplaceable. Always presume accurately that hard drives are extremely cheap, and you have no excuse not to have multiple redundant copies of your data copied on hard drives and squirreled away several places, lockboxes, safes, fireboxes, offsite and otherwise.
Hard drives aren't prone to failure…hard drives are guaranteed to fail (the very same is true of SSD). Hard drives dont die when aged, hard drives die at any age, and peak in death when young and slowly increase in risk as they age.
Never practice at any time for any reason the false premise and unreal sense of security in thinking your data is safe on any single external hard drive. This is never the case and has proven to be the single most common horrible tragedy of data loss that exists.
Many 100s of millions of hours of lost work and data are lost each year due to this single common false security. This is an unnatural disaster that can avoid by making all data redundant and then redundant again. If you let a $60 additional redundant hard drive and 3 hours of copying stand between you and years of work, then you've made a fundamental mistake countless 1000s of people each year have come to regret.

  • Accessing multiple macs with ARD from remote location with Airport Extreme

We have an office with a newer Airport Extreme and three macs on the network. We have turned on the Apple Remote Desktop in the port forwarding, but we can only access one computer at a time, and only if we port map it to the local IP of that computer (Ex 10.0.1.2).
We would like to be able to access all three computers from a remote location. My question is this -
Can I have a wildcard IP, or is there an IP I should use for ARD?
Do I set up multiple port mapping with different ports and IPs?
All computers are running 10.6.1 with the latest ARD updates.
    Any assistance would be appreciated.

    Great answer by Dave Sawyer:
"To be able to connect to a workstation from outside it's network, the ports that ARD uses must be open on both ends of the connection. ARD uses ports 3283 and 5900 so those must be open.
If your workstations get their addresses from an NAT device rather than being "real", the ports also need to be forwarded in the router to the workstation's internal IP address. ARD uses port 3283 for the reporting and updating function, so if your Macs are getting their IP addresses through NAT, since you can only forward a port to a single workstation, you can only get reports, push package/files to etc. for a single workstation.
ARD uses the VNC protocol for observation and control, though, and there are a range of IP addresses for that protocol, starting with 5900. ARD uses 5900 by default, so that port would be forwarded to the first workstation. To be able to control more than one system, though, you would need to install VNC servers on the systems (since the ARD client cannot listen on any port other than 5900 while VNC servers can be set for other ports such as 5901, 5902, etc. You would then forward 5901 to the second workstation (and on to 5902, 5903, etc.). You can then use the following information:
Remote Desktop 2: How to specify a port number for a VNC client to connect. -http://support.apple.com/kb/TA22880
The only other options are: 1) to run the ARD administrator on a workstation on the network, and then take control of that system from outside, either via VNC or another copy of ARD, or 2) set up a virtual private network (VPN) so that when you connect from outside, your admin system is officially part of the local network.
    Hope this helps."

  • Itunes library files do not move from default location on windows xp - help?

The hard drive that holds "my documents" is too small to hold my itunes library.  I have followed the directions to move the library files and itunes copied the library files over automatically to the new internal hard drive.  I have confirmed this under the "advanced preferences" under preferences under the edit menu.  On restarting itunes, it re-creates a blank library file in the old default location and changed the folder back to the default one.  The current work around I have is to leave the library files in the old location and periodically move the content to the location I want to prevent the old hard drive from getting full.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks!

  • Download all excel files from sharepoint location to local folder

    Hi,
How to I copy all excel files stored at sharepoint location to local folder?
    Regards,
    Nidhi

    Hi NidhiP,
To download Excel files from a SharePoint library by using SSIS, we need to make use of the Script Task. In the Script Task, we can use the methods provided by
Lists Web Service to work with SharePoint files, and then use the
    WebClient.DownloadFile Method or
FileStream Class to transfer the files from SharePoint to local file system.

  • Sending mail from remote location

This is a question I have often had and never felt like dealing with. Very often, when I access the net using a wireless network from a location other than my home, I can receive mail in the mail app, but I can not send. I will get the window asking to change the server. Sometimes, I am able to switch to another smtp server (I have several e-mail addresses and servers that I use) and it will work. Often, it will not work at all.
And, this is an odd part - if it does work, by switching servers, the next message that is set to go will come up with the same message, but the server that I just successfully used will be missing from the list. I will need to restart at that point to get the original list back.
But, again, in most cases, I simply can't send. I don't really want to go into my mail prefs for my accounts and change the smtp at every new location I am in.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Jonathan

    Hello Jonathan.
I don't really want to go into my mail prefs
for my accounts and change the smtp at every
    new location I am in.
Unfortunately, you don't have much choice since this depends on the connected to location.
Most, if not all ISPs now block the use of SMTP servers outside of their network as part of an overall effort to prevent or reduce spam eminating from the ISP's domain.
Some wireless networks don't support authenticated SMTP servers. If you are using an authenticated SMTP server for an account, simply changing the authentication to None for the SMTP server will resolve it in this situation.
I haven't used my PB at a Starbucks so I have no experience there but I have connected to wireless networks at various Airports - paid and free connections. With both a paid and free connection, I wasn't required to make any changes and didn't have any problems sending mail but I don't travel as often as I once did so I don't recall if I sent mail with one of my accounts that uses an authenticated SMTP server but I don't believe it would be a problem with a paid connection.
Basically, it depends on the connection and their requirements which you must check.

  • In oracle B2B multiple files are getting picked from SFTP location for one file in custer environment

    Flow is like :
    REST ENDPOINT->OSB PROXYSERVICE->BUSINESS SERVICE->B2B SFTP LOCATION->B2B->SOA JMS Queue->SOA COMPOSITE-
Due to cluster environment, there is issue when B2B picks the file from SFTP location for Custom protocol using sftp listening channel. Sometimes B2B picks multiple files from SFTP location for just one copy of file. It is happening because of cluster environment 4 instances of server is looking into the SFTP location for picking the file and sometime 2 or more instances of server are reading same file and sending the copy to B2B.
Please let me know , how can I stop this behavior

All QFE's have been applied we are building the image so we have some control.
I have build an image which used the debug DLL's of the FATFS and I have enabled all of the DebugZones.  The problem is still happening. From the timings in the debug logs and the timestamps in the data which corrupts the test file I have been able
to see that the file is corrupted AFTER the write is complete. Or at least that's how it seems.
We finished writing the file and closed the handle. Then more data is written to other files. When we get around to verifying the file it now contains data from the files that were subsequently written.
What I think I need to do is figure out in detail how the two files were "laid down" onto the SDCard.  If the system used the same cluster to write the 2 files then that would explain the issue.

You have 2 tables specified in the delete clause of your statement.
It should maybe be something like:
    delete from tabl1@remote a
    where exists (select 'x' from tabl1_temp b where (a."id" =b."id") and (a."title" = b."title) and (a."key" = b."key"));
