Saving files in PS and they look different in Bridge

I am opening files from Bridge into PS CC that have been altered in ACR recently, making changes (cropping, tonal values inc exposure, one with a Curve adjustment and layer mask for further control) and saving them to another folder under the same directory/folder. When I go back to Bridge the image either shows no changes or it's lighter and looks like I've made some very distructive corrections. Opening it again in PS and it looks perfectly okay. Windows 7 platform. What can be going on? Thank you in advance for your help. Joe

I have restarted my computer and the same issue remained.
I closed Bridge again. Reopened it while holding down Ctrl to possibly reset the Prefs. However, I didn't like the way the options read so selected Cancel.
Everything seems to be functioning correctly now.
I don't know what happened or why and would certainly appreciate any insight as to what might have happened.
I'm no newbie to PS nor Bridge as have been using them since mid 90s. Don't remember anything like this before.

Color Looks Different In Bridge

I just updated to Windows Vista Ultimate on a 64-bit machine. I have an Eizo CE240W monitor and calibrate with Gretag-Macbeth's Eye-One.
I was processing my first job and noticed a huge difference in the way the photos looked in Bridge than they did in in ACR and Photoshop.
The colors in bridge are much more saturated and red.
I've synchronized my color settings (my default RGB is ProPhoto RGB).
So, I'm guessing that Bridge renders thumbnails and previews in some other color space (sRGB maybe?).
Any workflow tips would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Rob,
The photos are RAW converted to DNG and I shoot my camera in Adobe RGB. But, in ACR, I set the default color space to ProPhoto RGB. When the photos open up in Photoshop, they look the way I wanted them to and like they did in ACR.
If I run image processor and convert the RAW files to sRGB JPEGs, they look like the Bridge preview, not like they did in ACR. But if I open the sRGB JPEG and the original RAW file in Photoshop, they look pretty close once they are in Photoshop together.
The difference is in Bridge. The colors are not being displayed accurately. I'm wondering if it's Adobe setting or a Windows setting that causing the issue (I'm on Vista now).
So, I think Bridge is displaying in sRGB, but when you open a file up in ACR and Photoshop, it displays in ProPhoto RGB. The difference is pretty significant and it would be great to have the photos look similar in Bridge and Photoshop. Maybe if I switch to Adobe RGB, I'll have better luck.

Why does 44k and 88k look different?

hi,
ive been using some 88k files for high qual recording, now i want all my files at 44k, so i convert them all, but looking the wave overview the 'level' appears to have dropped to nearly 50% of what it was for each file.
is this just a visual artefact of the way logic shows sample rates, it doesnt sound any quieter.

although the sounds are identical in level shown in any level meter i have.....they 'look' different on screen.
the 88k>44k convert is at the top compared to the original 88k file below it.....this seems to be a naormal artefact as this often happens when i use pitch time machine to change some samples' speeds......

This morning the computer did not boot, so i went down to apple store and they looked at it and said its a logic board failure and needs replacement worth £350. The tech at apple store gave no explanation, why suddenly, my computer decided not to start at all and said to me it was a logic board failure for no apparent reason and requires replacement. I have maintained the laptop in a pristine condition. Now I feel I have been cheated. This clearly means the product is substandard as a £1100 laptop is not expected to fail in just over a year. My last laptop PC which was worth £450 served me for 4 years before it crashed and lived for another 2 years until I decided to get a mac. This is ridiculous. I don't have apple care at the moment which translates as pay to get it fixed. Anybody in my situation ? I want to sue apple for selling me a substandard good . Any thoughts? Should I go for another pc for £500 because there is no guarantee even after the laptop were fixed by apple for £350 it would last for another year. I need a reliable machine.

Saved files as .PSD now they are "Windows Shell Common Dll" and won't open?

I am having a problem with opening some files in Photoshop. I am using Photoshop CS5.1 Extended (Version 12.1) and have Windows 7 64 bit SP1 OS.
I am trying to open a few templates I made in PhotoShop for a client and they worked fine when I used them 3 weeks ago. All were saved as .psd documents. Now when I go to open them they no longer have the PS icon (to show they would be opened by PhotoShop). When I try to open them I get "Could not complete your request because it is not the right type of document." I have had this problem once before but it is confusing to me because 2 of the other similar .psd files I saved at the same timeframe(separate elements for the temlate) are perfectly fine, only the ones I need do not want to open.
I checked file properties and it claims these files are now Windows Shell Common Dll files. Any ideas?

I guess you were able to open them in photoshop with open as.
In the future you should probably try to avoid using periods in the image file names other than for the file type extension.
You could use - or_ in place of the periods as in VotePedia Invoice 1_5_13 or VotePedia Invoice 1-5-13
Also, as Noel suggested, going into Control Panel>Appearace and Personalization>Folder Options>View
and unchecking Hide extensions for known file types will help as well.

Unsupported format or damaged file, but their there and they look fine?

File Import Failure. Importing my media for my first project on a PC and my first in Premier Pro, why oh why. I am sure this is a simple mistake but I cant see how and cant go on without knowing if things are importing successfully or not.
As i was importing the media into the project I started to get the File Import Failure for a few of my files, unfortunately the most important ones. The Video was shot on a DSLR and a GoPro, it plays fine in VLC or QT. It's the same format as the rest of the footage I've just imported with no problem and dose not seem to be damaged in any way?
I have tried cleaning my Media cache, to no avail.
It's a GoPro 2.5k strait into Premier and a new build PC, i74930K/GTX780 in good working order.
I then got the files from the originals to see if there was corruption and they imported fine, so I tried importing the problem files again but individually, not just right clicking the whole folder and choosing import, and they imported fine.
Then I went back and found that the problem files where actually importing all along and the there has been no problem. I checked the files that Premier complained about not being able to import in the project bin and they play fine in premier?
So..
I'm a Muppet I know, It's been a while but I cant see why this is happening? what to do?

I'm sorry about that I was trying to edit it as I had copied and pasted bits from else where and it was not making much sense.
I was going to the Media Browser tab next to the Project Tab then finding the media in files I had made while away that contain the clips and audio in two separate files inside a files by date. I then chose the file with the date on it and left clicked and chose import, is this what you mean by using the Media Browser?
If so I presume in this case I can ignore the warnings then if the clips are present in the project and play fine? There have been no effects or such applied to any of them.
I am new to windows too and could not find any other files with the clips in the original media but I went back and found a "show hidden files" button that revealed some other stuff. So thanks for clearing that up

Scanned images in LR and PS look different.

A friend and I are both having the exact same problem (he on a Mac, me on a PC):
Scanned black and white images, saved as PSD, look significantly different in Lightroom and Photoshop. Note the attached screenshots showing the LR images as darker. When printed, the images are still different. So this clearly has nothing to do with monitor calibration. And profiles are the same.

Do you have PS Color Profile Mismatch Warnings enabled. Here's what I use:
When opening a file in PS that uses a different color profile than my working space the following will appear:
Under 'What would you like to do' select the above setting to see the image as it appears inside LR. If the problem persists it would help if you can post an image with the problem to a file sharing site such as Dropbox. We can then check it on our own systems. Upload any image that exhibits the issue.

Pantone Bridge and Solid looks different on screen

Why the same Pantone Coated colour looks different on screen between the Bridge palette and the Solid palette. If I compare the same colour on the 2 printed coated palettes, they look the same

Platform = Windows
Frame version = 8
Rendering workflow = I print to .ps and then distill to PDF.
What settings in Distiller? I tried the "Tag all images for color management" in Distiller with sRGB selected as the color model, but it still came out lime---however, when I chose "Convert All Colors to CMYK" it kept the green color BUT then greyed out my images!!! I have attached a screenshot of the settings---can you see it?
sRGB = The artist had no idea was sRGB was (he is not really helpful at all...).
Any suggestions on how to get my images back...? Thanks so much.

RAW output to an adobe rgb and srgb look identical in bridge but different in PS on wide gamut monitor.

Photoshop CS6. Wide gamut HP LP2475w monitor. Spider 3 Elite calibrated. Working space adobe rgb. When outputting a raw to Adobe RGB jpg it looks a bit whacked with color blotches/jumps in PS. The sRGB of it does not. BUT......in bridge they look identical. The adobe rgb jpg almost acts like viewing an image in a non-color aware browser on a wide gamut monitor. Like bridge shows it right but photoshop is showing it whacked out. I can't tell what is lying to me and if there is even a problem with the image. Here is a half second 2 frame gif alternating between the two from a screen cap. http://www.extremeinstability.com/hmm.gif Abrupt blotchy color changes with the adobe rgb when viewed in photoshop. And again, when you look at the two images in bridge they don't show that, they look identical.

I guess I now learned that Bridge only generates srgb previews. So I see them the same in there I guess. Looks like it comes down to the adobe space and jpg. Oddly enough an 8 bit adobe tiff covers it fine without breaking up. Can see the 3 on this gif. http://www.extremeinstability.com/3.gif

With Netscape all of the Webcam shots from live feeds were automatically saved in my cache folder and I could simply open my cache send the saved files into AcDsee and convert them into jpgs, It would save as many as I would allow space for. With firefox

I cant retrieve my images from webcams that are cached any more with mozilla. With netscape all of the live webcam images from live cams were automatically saved in my cache folder and all i had to do was open it send the files to acdsee and turn them into jpgs. It would save them untill the Cache ran out of room no matter how many files or sites I had running. Mozilla seems to save what it wants when it wants and often dose not save any that I can retrieve because I believe it is bulking them into Cache 123 or 4 and those i cant open to retrieve the files. Sometimes it saves 100 or so and sometimes 2 or 3 sometimes 10 or more but i don't seem to have any control over what it does or does not save to retrieve no matter how much space i allow for the cache to save.

Saving files very slow, and sometimes crashes.

When saving files, it is extremely sluggish, regardless of what the file contains (tons of images, or a few shapes with text). When the "Progress" window pops up, the program will grey out, and display the Not Responding in the header, and appear completely unresponsive. Though it does eventually save the file. This is a work computer, so I don't do anything besides Photoshop and Illustrator. The system specs are:
Windows 7 64
12GB RAM
Intel Core i7 860 @ 2.80HZ
I don't see it as being a hardware issue, as I mentioned this delay happens regardless of the type I am working with. I experience this when saving files locally, and saving them on our network, both yield the same results.
EDIT: Forgot to mention that this hasn't always been like this. Few weeks ago it was all working flawlessly (even just saving to the network directly instead of copying), it's just been slowly getting worse.

Check your printers. this error is related to the default printer and print service. If you have an offline or unconnected printer, this is most likely your issue.
Remove any offline or old/duplicate references to networked printers. If the printer is timing out, you will experience lag in Photoshop and Illustrator even on fast systems.
If you did not have any old printers, then recreate and update your print driver, as you may have a corrupt .ppd file.

GS70 Saving Files Between SSD and HDD

Hey there,
Just wondering if anyone can tell me how to change preferences for saving files on my GS70? I want all of my games and programs on the SSD's, but for pictures and videos and such, I want those on the HDD. Is there a way I can change the settings so it's easier to save music/pictures/videos etc. to the HDD, rather than just saving the file and then copying it over? Thanks

Gettind .acsm files from library and they aren't converting to ePub

Help. Installed new digital Editions 3.0 and now can't get loaned ebooks from library even though computer is authorized.

My wife, daughter and I all shared one iTunes library on one Mac and synced 6 different devices and never had problems selecting exactly what we want to sync to each device.
Even though you do not have these particular songs or bums selected to sync, do you have "Sync only checked songs and Videos" in the Summary Tab of iTune? If you don't have that option selected, makes sure that you so check it before you sync again.
You should be able to swipe across songs in the songs tab of the music app - Swiping from Right to Left - and that will bring up the Red Delete Button. You cannot delete entire albums but holding down on the icon to bring up the X on the album icon. That doesn't work in iOS. 7.
If you are seeing songs in the Music app with the cloud icon on the right hand side, those songs are not on your iPad but are in iCloud and can be downloaded if you want to do so. If you do not want to see those songs, go to Settings>iTunes & App Stores>Show All>Music>Off.

Framemaker 7.0 consistently crashes when saving files as .rtf (and other related issues)

Thank you first of all for any help from anyone. Secondly, I apologize for any of my FrameMaker naivety, I am just a beginner with it really.
I am having a problem when saving out FrameMaker files to rtf format (for eventual conversion to word -- some people just want parts of book in word so they can mess around with it). Frequently, framemaker crashes and gives me a message such as this below. What can I do to get our documents into word format?
secondly, when i get them into word format, sometimes I have this problem when paragraph marks are turned on in word -- people that have recieved the word files I send them have complained about this and unfortunately they are people I cannot tell to just turn off the paragraph marks. Why is that repeated text inserted into the line? It should just say "Removing Constraints" (with no parenthesis marks). Some of our chapters are very long and manually removing this is not applicable.

About the {XE xxx} fields in your output file, that's the way FM converts index markers and their content when outputting RTF; FM automatically turns on the display of these fields. I believe it's the same with cross-references and all other kinds of marker output.
With MIF2Go you can specify what to do with each different type of marker, so you could choose to delete them completely if you wanted, or else to retain the markers but convert them to the correct index references in RTF. Here's the section in the MIF2Go manual about the markers:

I'm not sure whether MIF2Go has a way to control the actual display of these fields in the RTF or not, or whether that would need to be done by a vbscript after the RTF has been generated.
