Saving files on OS X server blows up my presentation.

I'm using Keynote 6.5.2 on a Mac using Mac OS X 10.9.5 and saving files to Mac OS X Server 10.6.8
I'm getting this...
And end up having to rebuild my presentation because opening the main .key file loses all the images and formatting. Any idea what's happening and how I can avoid?

Nothing fancy like svn. And we don't use Numbers or Pages, so although I don't have any examples of it happening, that doesn't mean it couldn't. I know those folders must have something to do with iWork's own versioning which is a feature that came out after OS X 10.6.8 Snow Leopard Server. People are used to opening and working off the server (rather than copying a file to the desktop, working on it and putting it back).

  • CS6 & OSX 10.6.8 - saving files directly to the server does not work (most of the time)

    Hi there,
    we just switched from OSX 10.5.8 to 10.6.8
    OSX was installed on a new partition of the harddisk
    Then installed CS 5
    Then installed CS 6 via (adobe creative cloud)
    With CS6 we got also the problem with saving files to the server (program error)
    It happens mostly with photoshop, sometimes with Illustrator.
    I read a lot of posting regarding the same problem but didn´t found a real solution yet.
    I am also wondering that there seems to be no solution for this now, because most of the posting i read are 1 year old.
    Working locally is not really an acceptable workaround for us or anyone who needs to work with Creative Suite in a professional way.

  • ABAP query processing in bgrnd and saving file to prsntn/application server

    Hello Gurus
    I have question regarding to ABAP query execution. Currently I try to find out if ABAP query can be executed in background and store the result into UNIX directory or in the presentation server(desktop). What I found is that the report need to be executed using option Private File and the data by default will be stored at directory /sap/outbound/.
    However what I found next is that the maximum fields should be 64 fields. If the query result has more than 64 fields, the error will occurs WRITE_TO_OFFSET_TOOLARGE.
    My question is:
    1. Can we set the directory in unix folder to someplace else than /sap/outbound/ ?
    2. Can we set in order to have the report stored without limitation 64 fields?
    Thanks in advance

    HI
    Yes you can set the directory in unix folder to someplace as you need to get confirmation for the path from your Functional Analyst.
    Thanks

  • Saving files in Microsoft Sharepoint Server MOSS

    Our organisation is implementing a hosted Microsoft Office
    Sharepoint Server (MOSS) environment for file storage and sharing
    replacing file servers in 3 different locations. We are trialing
    the MOSS server with a subset of users and have found it works
    great with Office 2007. We created a shortcut to the MOSS domain in
    the "Computer" view in Vista and can navigate to it easily in any
    Office Application through File Save.
    When doing a fresh save to MOSS though using Acrobat
    Professional 8 (with all updates downloaded and installed) it sees
    the MOSS server, asks for the MOSS username and password, navigates
    to the top level of the MOSS server, asks for the password again
    (the need for Single Sign On (SSO) is another seperate issue) you
    again enter the userame and password, and now it just hangs with
    the cursor stuck on the selection you made at the top level of the
    MOSS server. You cant select any other option, but the application
    is responsive enough to allow you to hit the cancel button.
    It appears this is a previously documented issue with Acrobat
    / MOSS compatability.I have found the link below for an add on that
    manages this issue, but would rather be in a mainstream Adobe
    solution.
    http://www.macroview.com.au/MacroView_Adobe_Save_To_Sharepoint.htm
    The funny thing is you can open documents through file open
    in Acrobat, and I can even then file save at any of the deep levels
    of the file/folder tree on the MOSS server. But if I go out and
    navigate to the MOSS server from the top level again (which works
    fine in Office) I get the hanging problem.
    Has anyone worked through this issue successfully? Or can
    anyone at Adobe comment on when Acrobat is expected to be fully
    MOSS compatible?

  • Fetch URL from Application Server of Saved File

    Hi,
    I wrote a file on the Application Server using Open Dataset commands.
    i can see it in AL11 transaction as getting saved on the server.
    How can i fetch the path , where it got saved?
    Regards,
    Anantha

    Welcome to SDN.
    there is no url assigned to the file stored in the application server, if you want to provide a link for the same from your BSP application, you have to read the contents using open dataset and set it as cached response of your bsp application and set the link url.
    the code will be like below.
    open dataset .. to read the contents
    create object cached_response type cl_http_response exporting add_c_msg = 1.
      cached_response->set_data( file_content ).
      cached_response->set_header_field( name  = if_http_header_fields=>content_type
                                         value = file_mime_type ).
      cached_response->set_status( code = 200 reason = 'OK' ).
      cached_response->server_cache_expire_rel( expires_rel = 180 ).
      call function 'GUID_CREATE'
        importing
          ev_guid_32 = guid.
      concatenate runtime->application_url '/' guid into display_url.
      cl_http_server=>server_cache_upload( url      = display_url
                                           response = cached_response ).

  • Illustrator CS6 hangs saving files to local HD while having multiple server share points mounted

    Mac OS 10.6
    Illustrator CS6
    Illustrator CS6 hangs (spinning beach ball) when saving files to the computer's local HD while having multiple server share points mounted.
    I am NOT opening or saving the file to or from a server.
    The server is mounted so that I can move my saved file to it once complete.
    Unmounting the servers fixes the problem and Illustrator CS6 returns to being normal (not causing a spinning beach ball).
    This is repeatable, not intermitent.

    We were having similar issues working over a network. I believe it's a Mac OS 10.6 issue, something to do with the Mac finder searching for file dates or metadata on the servers. From what I understand, this has been fixed in OS 10.7. We can't yet move to 10.7 and after trying many possible fixes, found that a Mac finder alternative, Path Finder, fixed most server delays. It's not free, but you can give it a 30 day trial to see if it fixes your issue. Here is a link to discussions about other suggested fixes:

  • Problems saving Files on Lion-Server

    My colleagues frequently report problems saving files stored on our Lion-Server machine. This usually applies to Photoshop CS6 documents but has been reported fpr MS Word .docx-Files as well. Usually the problem can be circumvented by savin the files in question  on the local machine and later copy them back to the server.
    Unfortunately the errors happen at random times where I usually have no access to either the cient computer or the server so I have no clue of wht is going wrong.
    The Server-Logs, especially the AppleFileServer Logs don't show any information related to anx client side error message.
    The only thing I see are entries in /var/log/system.log reading something like
    "Jul  9 15:36:14 servername AppleFileServer[1368]: MDSChannelPeerCreate: (os/kern) invalid argument"
    I'm not sure, if these messages are related to the failure of saving files, but they are the only clue I have so far.
    Has anyone experienced similar problems or better has a solution to avoid thes errors entirely?

  • Saved files take a long time to appear on Server or Desktop

    We have a network of nearly 40 macs, Panther Server, mostly panther clients but the newer machines are on 10.4.
    All of the newer machines exhibit the problem in that files saved to the server or to the desktop take a long time to appear.
    It appears to be a refresh issue, as on the server other clients can see the file straight away and locally the files can be seen on the desktop via the terminal.
    Force quitting the finder forces the files to appear but this is not a solution.
    The clients which have the problem all run 10.4 and the Server is 10.3. The 10.3 clients do not exhibit the same issues.

    I have also seen this issue at one of my larger clients (50+ workstations).
    The issues seems isolated to 10.4.5 or higher. Our workstations with 10.4.2 did not exhibit this problem. It is not an issue with hardware (we have seen this on an iBook G3 and various G5 tower models). Nor does it appear to be server-related: we have seen the issue saving locally with no servers mounted. We have seen the issue when saving from Adobe CS apps, MS Office apps, and from system apps (like TextEdit). Deleting com.apple.finder.plist from the user's home Library and then relaunching the Finder gets relief for a short time but the problem returns soon after. plutil reports the file is OK. The volume directory is fine, the permissions check out, and caches have been purged, to no avail.
    Like you, summersault, I am able to see the saved file on the command line, and when my users Force Quit the Finder, the file appears. Other workarounds, like the Nudge contextual menu, do not work.
    I have submitted the error via apple.com/feedback and would encourage you to do the same.
    Anxiously awaiting 10.4.7...

  • Saving a file back to the server

    Hi All,
    Well...I have opened a .pdf file from a server (Tomcat).Typical hyperlink on which I click and the pdf opens.I make changes to it.I have the acrobat writer installed on my machine.And now I want to save these changes (or the file) back to the server from where it opened.
    How will I do it?
    I hope some onez there to help me.
    Thanx a lot in advance

    You can't do this directly, and for a very good reason - you wouldn't want any- and everybody writing files on your server, would you?
    What you can do is to write a servlet that accepts the file as input, and saves it away in the required place. How you write that is a bit beyond a quick answer.
    To get the document to the servlet, the quickest and dirtiest way is to use <input type="file" ...> from an HTML file. This will attach the document to the request. AFAIK, this only works in IE, though. Otherwise, you can write an HTTP client that posts the document. Again, this is beyond the scope of this answer.

  • Saving file to network location

    Hello all of you,
    I encounter an issue with InDesign CS5 when it comes to opening and saving files to a network location. I added my company's ftp server to Windows 7 and it appears correctly in the My computer overview (there's an additional line besides the hard discs, DVD player, et cetera). The connection to the server functions fine, no issues here. No problem exists when opening files from this server from within InDesign; I can do whatever I want. Only when I try to save a file the network location isn't displayed anymore within the My computer overview in the InDesign "Save as" dialog box. The network location however appears in the pull-down menu at the top of the dialog box (and nested as part of My computer ...), but when I pick it there, it won't show the context of the server. Additionally logging onto the server (it's IP-based and anonymous logon) doesn't change a thing. Trying to save in the empty server space InDesign returns a "Can't save here" error message.
    Does anyone know how to solve this issue? Building the document locally and then copying back to the server isn't a solution, because all external content that is linked in the document resides on the server.
    Best regards,
    Luc Peulen

    Does anyone know how to solve this issue? Building the document locally and then copying back to the server isn't a solution, because all external content that is linked in the document resides on the server.
    Scott is basically right. Lots of ID users work over network connections without issue, but if something is going wrong, it's the first place to look. I wouldn't have thought it possible to work in InDesign over a FTP connection!
    If you can get Windows to access that server as if it were just another drive (using "Map network drive" in Explorer) then it should work normally. However, a generic Adobe phone tech wouldn't help you figure out why it wouldn't work - there are simply too many variables in a network environment for a generic first-level tech to figure out.
    In the short term, the only solution I can suggest is:
    Retrieve all of that external content that is linked in the document, and the InDesign document, at the same time, & store it on your local hard drive.
    Do your work.
    Save & package.
    Upload the entire package back to the server.
    Long-term, you'd need to talk to your own IT staff to troubleshoot the connection between your workstation and the FTP server. If you can get information about your network from them to post here, I bet that someone will make suggestions to pass on to your IT staff that will actually work.

    Can I merge or combine 2 "album artwork" folders? I have saved music onto an external server from 2 computers but the artwork that I have manually imported remains in the default folder in the music/itunes/"album artwork" folder on their respective PCs.
    i.e. artwork uploaded on one PC won't apppear on the other PC because it is saved locally...
    I'm confident that i won't beable to just merge the 2 because thy'll have the same folder names.
    On the same note: can I have iTunes create these files on the external server/Hard drive also so that either computer can use them at the same time?

  • Office 2013 applications cannot be made to show the "Documents" folder when opening and saving files

    (Windows Server 2012R2 and Windows 8.1 PRO)
    We are redirecting the user's "Documents" folder to the network (using Folder Redirection). The OS hides this fact however, and most applications simply see the "Documents" folder when opening or saving files, including Office 2003.
    Office 2013 however displays the actual path, which in this case is:
    \\sever1\redirect$\username\documents
    Even if you forcibly set the "Default local file location:"  in the Options Save area to the 'Documents' folder in, say, Word, Word immediately converts the local path to the network path.
    Is there anyway to get Office 2013 to follow the virtual path? All of other apps follow it and expose the users only to "Documents".
    Thank you so much.

    There's nothing in my FAQ concerning screen savers, so I'm unsure why you decided to take that approach. From your description, it looks like you only tried a few of the suggestions before throwing in the towel. That's fine, it's your call.
    I don't have the problems you described with 10.4.7. Usually when folks have problems after an update, these are caused by either installing an update on an already-corrutped system or they've installed third-party applications or hardware that have been rendered incompatible by the update.
    Before installing software updates, you may wish to consider the advice in my "Installing Software Updates" FAQ. Taking the steps therein before installing an update often helps avert problems and gives you a fallback position in case trouble arises.
    Good luck!

  • Photoshop CS4 corrupted file while save to server

    Hello
    We have or Leopard OS X Server running for months. Running CS3 Clients on 10.4.11 without any problems.
    A couple of weeks ago we swapped to 10.5 Clients and all Photoshop where corrupted when using "save", the "save as" works fine. After some discussions with the Adobe Support we decided to upgrade all our clients to CS4 (very expensive, while we own CS3.3 only for 5 months now)
    The Same problem occured with CS4 Photoshop. After again a discussion with Adobe Support whe switched of VersionCue support within the Preferences of Photoshop. This solves the problem for our G5 Based Machine, but all the Intel-Based machines are still corrupting the Photoshop files.
    Has some experienced the same problem? Is their a bugfix our a workaround. The Problem is that using "apple-S" key is an automatic mechanism for our people for your now, you can't switch the mind in days to use "shift-apple-S" Key
    Discussing the Problem with Adobe and Apple is very frustrating, they both say it is not their problem or bug but from theother.
    For me Adobe should fix this bug. They offer CS4 for Leopard so they should be aware of incompatibilities with the Leopard System
    Who is able to help us?
    Regards
    Gérard

    This is a solvable problem, and indeed a number of networks work just fine with remote access and saving. But it requires your experienced IT to deal with it -- to understand the particular issues with your network and how to solve them on your end. Changing an OS and its network settings, computers, software, routers and switches and their settings, cabling, other network hardware or software or their settings can affect how reliably files can be accessed and saved to a server.
    As Adobe has said for years, there are just far too many network variables for Adobe to guarantee that saving to a network will always work. So they recommend: drag the file to the local volume. Work locally. Save locally. Drag the file back to the server.
