Saving fill-in forms created in Acrobat 8.2

I have an old version of Acrobat (8.2). How can I (or can I) create a fill-in form that can saved in Adobe Readers 9.0 and higher. I have read similar forum questions, but they all pertain to Adobe Acrobat 9.0 and higher. All help is greatly appreciated.

In Acrobat 8 Pro the menu item is: Advanced > Enable Usage Rights in Adobe Reader

  • Saving filled out forms created in Acrobat Pro 8?

I'm at a loss and have searched through countless online forums and can't find a solution that will work. I have Acrobat Professional 8 and my employees use Reader X, can I create forms that have fields that the users can fill in and then save the forms to their local drive, completely filled out? I have seen some blogs that mention that this capability is in the "Save As" feature, but it doesn't appear to be in mine, so I don't know if I have a different version or am doing something wrong. Any help would be great!

You are the best! I have looked all over and didn't look there. Thanks again so much.

  • I am currently having trouble with an attached PDF fill-able form created in Acrobat being non savable in Reader

Hello, I was wondering if you would be able to help me out?
I am having trouble with my attached PDF fill-able form, I am creating a form that has a limit of one page so in order for more room in a certain field I have added a Hyperlink to an additional fill-able(secondary) form within the Parent document (primary fill-able form. The secondary form is inserted as an attachment into the Primary form. My problem is when I open this document up in Adobe Reader, the Primary fill-able form is savable but the attached Secondary form for which the hyperlink leads to is non-savable and is a must print only. Is there a way to make the Secondary form savable as well within the same document? or is there another way I could execute what it is I am trying to achieve?
Trying to save other as extended reader has not worked, also if I save the attachment file as an extended reader first I am unable to attach a return hyperlink back to the Parent document,
Help would be greatly appreciated please and thank you!

I can't say for certain without looking at the actual PDF but it does appear that they created one large text box over multiple lines. For a fillable form it may have been smarter to remove the lines and create a box with smaller text that supports multiple lines.
At any rate, nothing you can do about it with the free Reader (and depending on the security, maybe nothing with Acrobat either.)

  • Can fill-able forms created in Acrobat 9 work with SharePoint 2013 workflow?

    Okay so here's the deal.....
I have a few HR forms that need to be searchable and created as workflows in SharePoint 2013. Creating a custom list will not work because it is not a built to create forms. Integrating InfoPath would be ideal, but it will not work either because the company
will not pay for Enterprise licensing.
So my question is....what if I created a fill-able form in Acrobat and uploaded to SharePoint. Can I create a workflow from the document. The only question is, when the user fill out the form, where it will go? There is no submit button.
I guess the REAL question is, other than InfoPath, is there a work around to having forms on SharePoint that can be created as a workflow and made searchable. Did I mention that the forms must be fill-able.
    Hope I make sense.

No, you cannot submit form values of a acrobat to SharePoint. You can use list form for basic form, else try using jquery to build custom forms as an alternative for infopath. Refer to the following codeplex solution. You could use this or build one similar
to that using the source code.

  • Unable to fill in form created in Acrobat 5

    Hi
I created a Word document and then printed it to Acrobat Distiller 5. Then I added form fields in the document in Acrobat 5. When I use Adobe Reader 8 to open it, I can see & type in some of the text fields but not the checkbox fields. Help please. Thanks

    Hi again
I thought I would redo the form fields - this time it seems to work perfectly. I think I probably did something wrong the first time.
    Thanks

  • Cannot save data in form create in acrobat

We have a form created in Acrobat 9 pro and it is setup so that it can be filled out and saved in Adobe Reader 11. We use this form on our small business domain and most of the time the form will save but lately we see an error that tells us very little just "Unexpected Error Occurred" and then no matter what you do you cannot save the form data. It's setup with a master form, then they save it individually by a new name. When this error occurs we just can't save it, nor can we print it! It's as if the data isn't there any more. I'm not sure what is happening but was wondering if anyone has had any experience with this.

    Hi,
First of all, check the PDF producer of your form. Open Form in Acrobat -> Go to File -> Properties -> Look for PDF Producer in "Description" (Tab).
    1. If your form is created by Acrobat then Reader XI should be able to save the form.
    2. If it is created by LC Designer then you need extend the rights for Reader in the form.
    For Acrobat 9 Pro --
Go to Advanced > Extended Features in Adobe Reader
    Regards,

  • What levels of Acrobat are needed to use forms created in Acrobat Pro 9?

What levels of Acrobat are needed to use forms created in Acrobat Pro 9? I want to use my form as a job ticket but want to know what levels of adobe reader are needed for the end users to be able to fill out & submit the forms without any problems.

Reader 7 and higher should be able to fill out forms and submit if the pdf format allows Reader 7 to fill out the form. However, without problems is a different issue. Submission of forms via email is ALWAYS a problem. It is always better to post the form on a website and have the form filled out on the web and have the data stored or sent to a database for further action.

  • I am currently using FormsCentral to distribute a form created in Acrobat. I need to add an option to one of the drop down fields but do not want to re-distribute the form due to reporting purposes. How can I do this?

I am currently using FormsCentral to distribute a form created in Acrobat. I need to add an option to one of the drop down fields but do not want to re-distribute the form due to reporting purposes. How can I do this?

You can open the form in Acrobat, select "File > Save a Copy", open the copy you just saved (it doesn't happen automatically), edit the dropdown to add the new item, save as a new file, and then Reader-enable the file by selecting: File > Save As Other > Reader Extended PDF > Enable More Tools. The resulting PDF should work with FormsCentral just like the original.

  • I want to let Reader users add a photo to a form created in Acrobat 9.

I have a form created in Acrobat 9. I want to allow Acrobat Reader 11 users to add a photo. Can I bring the form into Live Cycle Designer to do so, or will that cause conflicts with the Acrobat form?

In that case you can't do it with an Acrobat form. Moving to an LCD form is not a mere technicality. The two technologies are very different from one another and are not compatible with one another. You should think and test it carefully before making such a move, and make sure to keep backups of your Acrobat forms.

  • Are Distributed Forms created in Acrobat XI Pro compatible with Response Forms in Acrobat X Pro?

I want to be able to use distributed forms (created in Acrobat XI Pro) that I have received back through email with Acrobat X Pro.  That is, I want to be able to import the form information that is being sent back to me into a response form in Acrobat X Pro. Is this kind of "forward-compatible" issue possible?
Or, since I created the distributed forms in Acrobat XI Pro, can I only import data from those forms in an appropriate response from in Acrobat XI Pro?
    Thanks!

The distribution technique for email, network folder, or internal server haven't changed between Acrobat X and XI so you should be able to do this; however, it won't be managed through Tracker because you're distributing the form through different programs.

  • Can't use the "send by e-mail" button on forms created in Acrobat Pro 9 with Firefox

I created a form in Acrobat Pro 9.5.2 with a "send by e-mail" button as usual (not using LiveCycle Designer). Since a few months, users cannot send forms using that button USING FIREFOX works fine in Explorer. I've been creating and using those forms since 2 years whitout any problems but now this is A BIG PROBLEM for our office as all our reservation forms uses this technology.
    Steps to reproduce bug:
    1. create a form using Acrobat Pro. add an action button " send a form". send the Entire PDF form not just FDF. go in advance tool to give all rights to end-users (in French it's "étendre les fonctions d'adobe reader" I think it’s enable the usage rights for Reader ion English.)
2.publishing the form on my website (or send by e-mail to someone who use reader)
    3. filling the form
    Results:
when the user fill the form he can't send it by e-mail using the button. Nothing happens when hitting that button. It is not possible to save the document as well. Nothing can be done, not even printing or saving it. I've tried almost all browsers I know and nothing works.
    Expected results:
the form should be send by e-mail (as an attachment in general) like before. please help me! this is really important, our office have a lot of calls and we are just 2 people here (non-profit organization). should we buy Acrobat Pro X ?
I can send you the form, my e-mail is rgelinas at canadianclub-montreal dot ca
    thanks all!

When your customers opened the PDF form (which was as an email attachment) on iPads, it is highly likely that Apple Mail (not Adobe Reader for iOS) was displaying the preview of the PDF form.   Please note that Apple products on iPad/iPhone (e.g. Apple Mail, iBooks, Safari) do not render field contents or annotations (sticky notes, highlight, underline, strikeout, freehand drawing, etc.) in PDF documents.
The Mail sections of the following FAQ documents describe how to open PDF attachments in Adobe Reader for iOS.
For iPad, see How to get PDF documents into Adobe Reader for iOS (iPad on iOS 7 version)
For iPhone, see How to open PDF documents in Adobe Reader for iOS (iPhone on iOS 7 version)

  • Fill in form created in Adobe 8 (Mac) and then trying to send out from PC with adobe 9 pro

I created a form using adobe acrobrat 8 pro on a mac (everything works and we have used in the past).  I need to send it out from a PC which has adobe acrobat pro 9.  I can open the form, view it and use the distribute feature (via email option).  Then I send it out and when we test the completed form coming back to the email on the PC (using a submit button option), it opens the PDF file, you can view the filled in data on the PDF however the dialog box that normally opens asking if you want to download or import the data does not appear, not even the form tracker dialog box appears - nothing happens.  You can't seem to do anything with the data from the form.  You can only view it. We need to be able to collect it in one file, and then export to a CSV.
Is there some compability issue between forms created between two platforms, and two different versions?
Am I missing a step on a PC.  I am not very familiar with a PC's and it doesn't seem to be as drag and drop oriented as a mac.
Do  I need to rebuild the form on the PC using adobe acrobat pro 9?

Please post this in the Acrobat support area, you'll get a better answer!

  • Cannot create a Response File in Reader X from form created in Acrobat Pro 9

I created a form in Adobe Acrobat Pro 9. I distributed the form using option "Manually collect responses in my email inbox" and "Save a local copy and manually send it later". When I send that form and get a response, I open it in Adobe Reader X but I do not get the pop-up option to save to a Response File. I do get that option to save to the response file if I open the file with Adobe Reader 9. Has anyone else seen this problem and is there a solution?

I figured a way around this in case anyone has the same problem in the future. I just opened Acrobat Pro X, clicked combine files into PDF, selected the file I wanted, saved the "binder" as PDF then saved another version as Reader Extended PDF. I think this helped because it essentially creaded a whole new PDF with the old PDF in it and getting rid of whater hashes or document properties in the last one that wouldn't allow it to work in Reader. Opens perfectly on other computers.

  • Form created in acrobat pro 6 blank in acrobat pro x

We recently upgraded from adobe acrobat 6 pro to acrobat X pro and when opeing some filled out forms from acrobat 6 they are not filled in in acrobat x pro if we reopen them in adobe acrobat 6 they work fine. Is there something we have to do to make the forms populate the data in acrobat pro x that was created in acrobat pro 6.
We are running microsoft windows 7 x64.

You can export the data in Acrobat 6 and import the data in Acrobat X.

  • Problem with saving filled-in form

I downloaded an official state form and after filling out the required fields saved it.  When I retrieved the document, the filled in data appeared for an instant then disappeared.  I have previously downloaded forms from this State site and filled in the fields, saved the document and then retrieved it without a problem.  Now whenever I pull up a document.pdf the once filled-in fields vanish.
I have not changed any settings on the Adobe Acrobat 8.0 Professional application that is being used to save and then retieve the document.  I am using XP Professional with SP2 and all other updates.
Can anyone explain why the filled in form does not stay filled in when retrieved and how to fix it so it will not happen again?

The form may be set to clear the fields when opening. There are various reasons folks select this option, but it is likely the problem.
