Saving global classes / packages

Hi,
I created a package inside se80 with global classes and I want to save this package or/and the global classes to disc (for other projects).
How can I achieve this?
I know the report REPTRAN but this tool saves all my global classes (in all packages) with odd filenames. Is it possible to do this without using the transport organizer and without copy/paste the hole code by hand?

I suggest that you should read this New to Java material, as these forums are an especially inefficient way of learning the basics of Java. Most people (including myself) are not willing to write in sufficient detail for the material to be understandable by someone who doesn't have any knowledge of Java.

Working With Development Objects
Any component of an application program that is stored as a separate unit in the R/3 Repository is called a development object or a Repository Object. In the SAP System, all development objects that logically belong together are assigned to the same development class.
Object Lists
In the Object Navigator, development objects are displayed in object lists, which contain all of the elements in a development class, a program, global class, or function group.
Object lists show not only a hierarchical overview of the development objects in a category, but also tell you how the objects are related to each other. The Object Navigator displays object lists as a tree.
The topmost node of an object list is the development class. From here, you can navigate right down to the lowest hierarchical level of objects. If you select an object from the tree structure that itself describes an object list, the system displays just the new object list.

To select development objects, you use a selection list in the Object Navigator. This contains the following categories:

A list of all of the components in an ABAP program
Function group

A list of all of the components of a global class. It also lists the superclasses of the class, and all of the inherited and redefined methods of the current class.

A list of all of the componentse of an Internet service:
Service description, themes, language resources, HTML templates and MIME objects.
When you choose an Internet service from the tree display, the Web Application Builder is started.

Local objects
A list of all of the local private objects of a user.
Objects in this list belong to development class $TMP and are not transported. You can display both your own local private objects and those of other users. Local objects are used mostly for testing. Creating the Main Package
Use
The main package is primarily a container for development objects that belong together, in that they share the same system, transport layer, and customer delivery status. However, you must store development objects in sub-packages, not in the main package itself.
Several main packages can be grouped together to form a structure package.
Prerequisites
You have the authorization for the activity L0 (All Functions) using the S_DEVELOP authorization object.
Procedure
You create each normal package in a similar procedure to the one described below. It can then be included as a sub-package in a main package.
To create a main package:
1.       Open the Package Builder initial screen (SE21 or SPACKAGE).
2.       In the Package field, enter a name for the package that complies with the tools Naming Conventions
Within SAP itself, the name must begin with a letter from A to S, or from U to X.
3.       Choose Create.
The system displays the Create Package dialog box.
4.       Enter the following package attributes:
Short Text
Application Component
From the component hierarchy of the SAP system, choose the abbreviation for the application component to which you want to assign the new package.
Software component
Select an entry. The software component describes a set of development objects that can only be delivered in a single unit. You should assign all the sub-packages of the main package to this software component.
Exception: Sub-packages that will not be delivered to customers must be assigned to the HOMEsoftware component.
Main Package
This checkbox appears only if you have the appropriate authorization (see Prerequisites).
To indicate that the package is a main package, check this box.
5.       Choose Save.
6.       In the dialog box that appears, assign a transport request.
Result
The Change package screen displays the attributes of the new package. To display the object list for the package in the Object Navigator as well, choose from the button bar.
You have created your main package and can now define a structure within it. Generally, you will continue by adding sub-packages to the main package. They themselves will contain the package elements you have assigned.

Hello Reema,
Follow these steps :-
     Go to transaction SE24.
     Enter the name of the global class you want to create, with Y or Z at the beginning.
     Press Create pushbutton.
     A dialog window shown above will appear. Check the radiobutton : Class.
     Press Enter.
     Another dialog window shown above will appear. Enter the description for the class.
     Select from the Instantiation listbox whether you want to create the class as PUBLIC/PROTECTED/PRIVATE/ABSTRACT.
     Check the radiobutton for Usual ABAP Class.
     Check the checkbox for Final.
     Press Save pushbutton
Enter the package name or save it as Local object.
     Go to the tab-page : Methods.
     Enter the details for the method mention name, type of method(instance/static), in which visibility section the method will reside and a short description of the method.
     Check off/uncheck the checkbox to ensure that the method will be implemented
Click the pushbutton for Parameters to navigate to the screen to enter parameters for the method.

Error while usind Private Method of a global class

I created a global class (ZLINE_GLOBAL) which has TOT_DATA private method. I have to call this private method in my report, I know that using Friend class we can do this.
But it is not working and showing the same error " METHOD "TOT_DATA" is unknown or Private or Public..

it looks like it's not possible to call this BAPI wihtout material number. Here is a quote from BAPI documentation.
When creating material master data, you must transfer the material
number, the material type, and the industry sector to the method. You
must also enter a material description and its language.

Hi,
is it possible to export a global class with all of its attributes, types, methods and more to a local file for archiving purposes?

Hi,
Assuming you are asking specifically about the global class "Attributes" and not all information about the global class itself. To get the "Attributes" in a spreadsheet you can try this work-around:
1. Run transaction SE84 Repository Info System.
2. Expand the "Class Library" branch.
3. Double-click the "Attributes" node.
4. Enter your global class name and run the search.
5. Once the list of attributes is displayed, choose menu path System -> List -> Save -> Local File.
6. Choose "Spreadsheet" format in the popup.
7. Give a file path and name for your spreadsheet.
8. You should now have a spreadsheet with all the "Attributes" of your global class.

I am new to the abap objects and till now i am to understand that the role of the global classes are important in the abap object program. I had tried to search on the net but i was not able to get the desired result.

For alv's we use these global classes. For Webdynpro related alv we use different global classes.

Select option in global class

You may have a look at table type RSELOPTION (line type RSDSSELOPT).

Need FM/Class for Direct deletion of Development Class/Package in ABAP

I had stored all the unwanted objects in a development class/ package which I intended to delete later. I want this deletion to be done automatically. Is there a function module or class that can help me do this?

I was hoping a separate server-side process wouldn't be needed -- if you're thinking of something like RMI, that's also a bit heavyweight for my needs. I know I can talk to the remote server on telnet port 23, though.
Further experimentation today with the Jakarta net library has generated something that works using their telnet classes. (After I asked for help here, of course. The same thing happens when I shop for groceries....) But using this leaves me referencing an external library that:
1. has functionality I don't need that complicates the code, and
2. forces me to address licensing requirements.
So I'd still love to see an example of a telnet-like Java class that strips away all the non-essentials in the Jakarta telnet library code, leaving behind a simple public domain class that can be used to connect to a remote host and transfer characters over that connection.
I appreciate that this may be asking for a lot, but as they say, if you don't ask, you don't get. ;-)

Can we use SAMT to syntax check methods in global classes ?

Transaction SAMT can be used to perform syntax checks on programs but I can't see how to use it to check methods in global classes. Can anyone tell me how to do this ?

I've figured out a way to do this.
You need to put the class name followed by '=====CP' into the program name......with enough ='s to make the name up to 32 characters. Bit fiddly but it can be done.

How to use global classes and display returned data?

When I replace itr by OREF I get:
"OREF" is not a data reference variable.
I then try to change it to dref_tab. I get:
"DREF_TAB" is not a data reference variable.
Any idea? By the way, must there be a HANDLE event for this to work?

error is export statement does not support in object oriented concept.

Hi Ramesh,
Export and import statements were not allowed to use in classes. Create a global variable in public section of that class of type of export parameter.Then pass value to the global variable of class by calling that class.

Using container from another global class

There are two global classes being used by me in a program - Class A and Class B.
Class A contains the container to display ALV.
Class B contains the logic to display ALV.
class B is used as attribute class in Class A.
How is that I can use the container from Class A from class B?

        call method ref_alv->set_table_for_first_display...

If storing container's reference under local LR_CONTAINER in class B constructor causes not displaying ALV, you will have to store this under class B attribute. Alternative would be directly indicating the container reference as parent to ALV by calling functional method like
create object ref_alv
      exporting
           container = ref_A->get_container( )
this will however work in recent releases of SAP NW AS.
