Saving images in 3rd party p
Hi,
I am batch converting images in the program IrfanView before working on them in Photoshop. The images are input as JPEGS, and I hope to save the images in IrfanView with as much quality as possible, but I am not sure if I should save as TIF, TGA, BMP, EMF or JNF. I have thought TIF might be the best option.
Any further information would be appreciated.

I have an alternative you may want to consider...
Did you know you could do lossless (I think) rotations in Windows Explorer?
Make the thumbnails large enough so that you can see the images clearly, then select multiple images (e.g., with the Ctrl key), right-click, then choose the proper rotation...
I need to verify that the rotation is lossless...

Changes to 3rd party cookies options are not saved
I want to change Cookies setting to allow 3rd party cookies because an important website that I access
frequently says that my browser (Firefox) does not accept these cookies.

Select Options > Privacy tab
I change the History setting from "Remember history" to "Use custom setting for history"
"Remember my browsing and download history" is checked
"Remember search and form history" is checked
"Accept cookies from sites" is checked
Accept third-party cookies:" is set to Always and keep until: they expire
There is no Save button so I click OK
I close Options then reselect it and I am back to "Remember history" and there is nothing visible for "Accept
Cookies" and my important website is still won't open.
It is obvious that my Option changes have not been saved. This seems like you have a bug that needs fixing.Firefox shows "Use custom settings for history" as an indication that at least one of the history and cookie settings is not the default to make you aware that changes were made.
If all History settings are default then the custom settings are hidden and you see "Firefox will: (Never) Remember History".
*"Never Remember History" means that Private Browsing is active and "Always use private browsing mode" gets a checkmark.
Note that if you clear the cookie settings that such changes only apply to new cookies, so you need to clear existing cookies to make Firefox create new cookies.
Clear the cache and cookies only from websites that cause problems.
"Clear the Cache":
*Firefox/Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"
"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:
*Firefox/Tools > Options > Privacy > "Use custom settings for history" > Cookies: "Show Cookies"
If clearing cookies didn't help then it is possible that the cookies.sqlite file that stores the cookies got corrupted.
*Rename (or delete) <b>cookies.sqlite</b> (cookies.sqlite.old) and delete other present cookies files like <b>cookies.sqlite-journal</b> in the Firefox profile folder in case the file cookies.sqlite got corrupted.

Is there a 3rd Party Solution for Adobe's lack of recover for unsaved work?
Time and time again I am baffled by Adobe's inability or refusal to make the user experience consistent across it's entire Creative Suite.
I am repeatedly shocked by the punitive error messages I receive in Photoshop. It's as though you don't really care what the user wants, I mean what are we going to do, use MS Paint? So you are at liberty to provide such classic errors as "Unable to complete your request because of a program error" instead of "wait, did you mean apply that filter to the only visible layer that you had selected just seconds before and never requested that the layer be de-selected?" I could go on and on with the crazy and convoluted exceptions to logic in Photoshop, but I would rather just understand why, when you know that a problem exists and affects 90% of your users at some point, why wouldn't you try to build in some form of recovery when your program crashes
Why should I be punished for relying on your program not to crash when I am working on something? I have repeatedly been advised that the best solution is to save often. Sometimes that's not an option and why should it be my responsibility to compensate for your buggy program?
After 20 years of development, you can't figure out how to recover someone's work if they haven't been able to save for some reason and Phtooshop crashes? I have been using Photoshop since Version 3 (for sure, but more likely version 2) and back then you could rename your temp files and recover the work you hadn't saved. I understand that the mechanism by which fast previews (comps) of your work are displayed but not applied (like Live Image), but why isn't it possible to store a simple text file that could retrace my steps if your program crashes?
This is a real problem if you are processing a filter that takes 30 minutes and Photoshop waits until 29 minutes and 59 seconds to announce that it stopped working. Granted you can see your document in the background, but you can't save it? You can't commit whatever is in RAM for the undo states to disk? You can't have your program quickly save a new text file with the list of commands applied between saves? You can't do anything? After 20 years?
Microsoft includes recovery in Word, Excel, etc. Even SOME Adobe programs do it: InDesign...AfterEffects. Why doesn't your flagship program do it?
It's frustrating beyond belief and it baffles me that Adobe is celebrating the 20th anniversary of Photoshop and yet this basic, basic customer need is still not effectively addressed and furthermore, any question about it is answered with indignant indifference:
it doesn't work and we don't care what you want,
think you'd be happier with our competition....
oh wait, we don't really have any competition...
maybe you should save more often...
Is there a 3rd party solution that will allow me to recover my work in Photoshop when it crashes between saves? Or am I just stuck having to cope with rebuilding my work because Adobe refuses to provide a solution.

CS4 running under windows 7 appearently has some problems. While it would be nice if Adobe went back and rewrote there software for an operating system that was in early development when CS4 was released, it is not likely to happen.
Excuse me, they did it is called Adobe Photoshop CS5 and is due to be release soon.

I am currently running Windows Vista Home Premium "not my choice" on a Toshiba A215-S4747 with 3gb ram. When I bought this laptop the Toshiba Rep was at the Best Buy and I spoke with him about this very computer. I did not want to run Windows Vista, period, I had heard to many bad reports about it. The Toshiba Rep told me that was not a problem and this computer would run Windows XP Professional just fine.
So I bought this computer and 2gb of ram as it only came with 512mb. I went home happly and proceeded to install Windows XP Pro and the new memory. Guess what?
this computer will in fact run Windows XP Pro just fine as long as you take into consideration that there are almost no hardware drivers for the periferals that make up this computer.
So I reinstall Windows Vista and for the next year I am tied into fits because of system crashes. Finally I am at the point that I am going to take this computer to the Toshiba Office in Torrance California and personally give it back to them "I was going to throw it through the front office window.".
Just before I ran across memtest and I downloaded it and tested my memory. You got it I had a defective ram chip.
Best Buy replaced the chip no problem. that was in November of 2008. I do horrible things to this computer, I really can drive it. It has not crashed once since I found and fixed the problem.
No one is suggesting that you are an idiot! or inexperienced. but no matter what you do remember 2 very simple rules.
If you run into a problem 1. "Go Back To Basics" and 2. "KISS ie: keep it simple stupid" if you do this and I am speaking from my own experience you will find like and work a lot simpler and more pleasent. -

1. File created in CS5 with third party filter applied to smart object (filter:Neat Image
published by ABSoft.)
2 Transfer to another computer that does not have the filter installed.
3. Open in Photoshop CS6.
4. Use crop tool to attempt to crop the photo.
5. Receive error message "Could not complete the command because of a program
error."
6. Crop completes and can be saved, but filter is disabled and cannot be enabled unless
moved back to original computer.
Expected result should be:
Allow filter to be enabled as CS5. Or message similar to message produced with
missing font.

Installed TWAIN devices: NONESee if you can troubleshoot Safari extensions and third party plugins before Safari crashes.
From the Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Extensions tab. Turn that OFF, quit and relaunch Safari to test. If that helped, turn one extension on then quit and relaunch Safari to test until you find the incompatible extension then click uninstall.
If it's not an extensions issue, try troubleshooting third party plug-ins.
Back to Safari > Preferences. This time select the Security tab. Deselect: Allow plug-ins. Quit and relaunch Safari to test.
If that made a difference, instructions for troubleshooting plugins here. -
IDVD6 and 3rd party DVD burners
I purchased iLife for the ability to burn to a 3rd party DVD burner with iDVD6. I can't for the life of me figure how to burn to the 3rd party burner. Please help.
imac G4 Mac OS X (10.3.9)I'm suffering a similar problem with iDVD6 in OSX.3.9 on my G4 Dual 800. I've recently reported it earlier in another thread (below) which hasn't been answered. It takes many hours (aboukt six) to burn to a disk mage and appears OK but when I try to burn to a disk with either iDVD or Toast it fails. In the latter case with Toast I get a part burn, thus ensuring a spoilt disk ! On top of that, the burn indication line in the burn box is static and the spinning beach ball of death is ever present so I have to use Force Quit.
Clicking on the original saved prog from which iDVD has burned to a disk image I can get the FCP timeline with its full prog ....
I need the system in X.3.9 to be fully operational with iDVD6 so that my grandson can learn with it.
In the MacPro, with the same film content edited in FCP and similaly saved, I can get a complete burn with no hesitation, using a fraction of the time quoted above.
Completely bemused. I'd appreciate a solving of this one too which may be of help to the originator of this post as well as myself. Please !

I've updated to 10.4.4, but my Sony dual layer burner still shows as 'Burn Support: Yes (Unsupported)', in 'About this Mac'. The 'unsupported' means 'no dual layer burning' as far as I know. Also, I believe dual burning is only supported from within the OS itself? True or not?
Let's see who's first to try the new iDVD 6 out with a 3rd party burner & dual layer disk. If it works, it means iDVD 6 really does support third party burners.
Please post results.

The last sentence is interesting, as the commonly suggested method of burning Dual layer discs is by first creating a disc image, then burning with Toast or Disk Utility.
Also, my Sony shows up as supporting 8 Gig in iDVD 6, but still shows as 'unsupported' in System Profiler.

IPhoto Editing via 3rd party tools
All ... if I choose to edit my iPhoto images via another tool (eg. Photoshop), I know you can configure iPhoto to open that Application when you wish to edit. I'm good with that. But, how can you take the newly edited image from the 3rd party software, and save it back into iPhoto? Can this be done? If so, how?

1 - select Photoshop or Photoshop Elememts as your editor of choice in iPhoto's General Preference Section's under the "Edit photo:" menu.
2 - double click on the thumbnail in iPhoto to open it in Photoshop. When you're finished editing click on the Save button. If you immediately get the JPEG Options window make your selection (Baseline standard seems to be the most compatible jpeg format) and click on the OK button. Your done.
3 - however, if you get the navigation window
that indicates that PS wants to save it as a PS formatted file. You'll need to either select JPEG from the menu and save (top image) or click on the desktop in the Navigation window (bottom image) and save it to the desktop for importing as a new photo.
This method will let iPhoto know that the photo has been editied and will update the thumbnail file to reflect the edit..
With Photoshop Elements the Saving File preferences should be configured as shown:
I also suggest the Maximize PSD File Compatabilty be set to Always. In PSE’s General preference pane set the Color Picker to Apple as shown:

Note 1: to switch between iPhoto and PS or PSE as the editor of choice Control (right)-click on the thumbnail and select either Edit in iPhoto or Edit in External Editor from the contextual menu. If you use iPhoto to edit more than PSE re-select iPhoto in the iPhoto General preference pane. Then iPhoto will be the default editor and you can use the contextual menu to select PSE for your editor when desired.
Note 2: editing a RAW file with either PSE or PS creates a new file which must be saved outside of iPhoto, i.e. the Desktop, and imported as a new photo into the iPhoto Library. -
3rd Party Installers non-operational in MntnLion. (Not SysPrefs related)
Hi there, guys.
My current setting in SysPrefs is to allow intallation for apps downloaded from Anywhere. However. I have a whole bunch of installers that does not work at all. (All licensed and ligit downloads from 3rd party Developers). One of which is Adobe CS6 Production premium. I have a whole bunch of random fluke-outs during installation processes ranging from disk images failing to mount due to "illegal search" (Adobe CS6 installer) to installer apps that just quit on me once loaded...
I originally thought it was because I saved the installers to a drive where I'm installing from (Which used to work fine for Lion). But now even a fresh download from Adobe CS6 installers is non-operational...
It seems that OsX thinks PREVIEW created these files. Which is odd since it surely did not. And I'm expecting this is part of the problem.
I'm experiencing this across 3 different Macs including 2 8-cores (MPro 5.1 & 3.1) and my MBpro (5.1).
This is VERY annoying. Any advice would be really welcome...

Select one of the installer packages in the Finder and Get Info (cmd-I).
In the Open With section, make sure Installer is selected. If it is not available in the popup menu, choose other and you'll find Installer in the /System/Library/Core Services/. -
How can I restore 3rd party app data from my backup in the cloud
First a brief history. I use the iCloud to backup my iPad 2 and hardly ever synch it to itunes on my computer. I got the new iPad and restored the backup of my iPad 2 onto it. All was fine except that an issue I had on my iPad 2's Safari had transferred over to my new iPad. That's is for another discussion. Anyhow I went to the genius bar and they said to just setup my new iPad as a new device and then manually install everything back on it. Stuff like mail, contacts, etc, would be reloaded from the cloud. So I did and I noticed that one of my 3rd party apps, MadPad, had none of my saved data. Does anyone know of a way to restore 3rd party app data from the iCloud? Is there some sort of utility out there that would do this? I don't want to restore it from my previous iPad 2 backup because it will reintroduce the Safari problem back onto my new iPad.
Thanks!Assuming that you even have a backup with the data in it, you have no choice but to use a backup in order to restore that data. That is the idea behind backing up to iCloud. If that is the only backup that you have - then that is the one that you have to use.
But if the backup is bad - or had corrupt data - then you will end up with the corrupt data again. You cannot selectively restore app data from a backup. you restore all settings and data - or nothing at all. -
Apple appt. tomorrow.. What do I do if they try to void my AppleCare bc of 3rd-party upgrades?
So I'm a bit nervous.. Recently I started experiencing some really weird problems with the display on my Late 2011 MacBook Pro (8,2) .. I have a 3-year AppleCare warranty that I purchased when I got the MacBook Pro, which still provides me coverage for another 6 months or so..
I've got an appt. at the Apple Store tomorrow, since I've already went through the whole troubleshooting process on the phone with one of the Geniuses.. and did pretty much every troubleshooting step I could find on the internet.. The problem I'm experiencing seems to be VERY common among the 2011 MacBook Pro's.. Here's an article addressing that very issue (widespread GPU failures due to improper soldering):

It appears that this issue is something that was caused on the manufacturer's end entirely..
As far as the upgrades I did aftermarket:
-upgraded to 16gb RAM
-replaced factory harddrive with SSD
-removed SuperDrive and replaced with OWC Data Doubler + 2nd SSD
I'm fairly tech-savvy and have been building desktops for over 10 years now.. I know all the proper precautions to take when uncovering the insides of a computer and how to properly install/change out components..

I'm a little bit nervous because I know my rights, I know what I'm doing when it comes to computer hardware maintenance/replacement, and I have a 3-year AppleCare plan that is still valid.. but I have a feeling that they're going to try to get slimy with me and say that my upgrades voided the warranty, or that my negligence caused this problem (which would be BS).. There's also tons of documentation online about people who are experiencing the *EXACT* same problem, with images that match what I'm experiencing, for a huge number of 2011 MacBook Pro users..
I really, really don't feel like having to open up my machine again and uninstall all of my upgrades (memory RAM, SSD, and Data Doubler + SSD) to make it "appear" that I didn't do anything and that the computer's insides are still "untouched" by me.. Even to this extent, I feel that it would be hard for them not to realize that the original components were removed and replaced by 3rd party components (and then re-replaced again before my visit)..
I'd really just like to leave everything in there and have them replace the faulty logic board (which seems to be the solution on the internet).. but I'd like to anticipate any potential questions or conflicts or answers that I should have prepared for tomorrow, if they try to weasel their way out of covering this manufacturer defect by saying that my warranty is "voided"..
Has anyone been in this situation where they had a known, manufacturer's defect problem arise, where still covered under AppleCare protection, but had done 3rd party upgrades to things like the RAM/HDD?
The nearest Apple Store is 1hr45min away from me! (*****) so I'd really like to have my game-plan set ahead of time with what kind of reaction I should be getting when I go in there bc of a manufacturer's defect, but then they see that I've done 3rd party upgrades? (which should be okay w/that law in place.. *see OWC link I posted*)
Can anybody help me out with what to expect or how I should approach everything tomorrow?

<Edited by Host>We are not lawyers. We cannot even tell you what might happen tomorrow. But, if Apple refuses to provide support because you have violated the legal status of the warranty, then you have little recourse but to call an attorney.
You cannot rely on anything you were told by OWC or believe you were told or believe you know. Needless to say no one on these forums can give you reliable information on what Apple will do nor advise you on what to do. -
Issues loading to a 3rd party host
i created my site using muse and when i checked it out on business catalyst, everything looked great. but now when i try to upload it to my 3rd party host, the site keeps getting messed up. i've checked and rechecked my assets to make sure they're all connected (and they are). but again, loading using the FTP option on muse results in a messed up site...images are missing, text is moved around, just general crap that ruins the the site.
i've been reading through the forum messages on here to see what solutions others have come up with, and the ones i've found, i've tried to implement to try and fix the issues (like the asset linking).
what is the order of steps i should be taking to load? here's what i'm doing so far:
1) check all assets, update any that needed it
2) save site
3) export to HTML
4) upload using FTP to my host
am i missing a step or doing something i shouldnt be? i've deleted public_html folder multiple times and reuploaded everything but keep getting the errors.....
i also get the PHP error

Error accessing method in 3rd party dll
already asked for help a few weeks ago but no one answered and i still wasn't able to figure out what the problem...
i have a 3rd party dll and im trying to access some methods (USING JNI)- i have no problem accessing methods with no parameters and they work fine but a method with parameters just wwont work.
i guess that its something with my syntax - probably incorrect data type when converting from java type to native type...

We are printing our month end AR statements using Xerox DP100 printers. We are using a SAP Script as the layout form. Everything works perfectly alright when a direct print is issued to the printer. But the scenario here is the statements are sent to a 3rd party software so that the statements can be saved in their repository and made available to be viewed and printed whenever necessary. Now the issue is when this 3rd Party Software(TPS) reads the SAP generated PCL from its report store on the unix host and generates a PDF File that it presents to the web client user for (re)printing via his/her PC it appears that the TPS or Websphere or Adobe is performing a font substituion - replacing the Univers font(used in R/3) which is not loaded on the unix host with a different font(with different sizing and/or behavior).
As a result the horizontal and vertical positioning generated by SAP(which is correct for the Univers font) is 'wrong' for the substituted font. The fixed size fields print OK but gradually move to the right. The varying size amount columns do not align correctly and fall off the right side of the page.
Can anyone give me pointers on what can be done to arrest this error.
Does the font need to be loaded on the unix host or the font used in the form be changed?

Sap script behaves differently for different printers. You will have to change margins when you change your printer/software accordingly. -

Presntly we have a scenario in our rollout project for 3rd party drop ship.
Sales organization/company code belongs to :- Japan
Customer belongs to :- Indonesia
Vendor belongs to :- Malasyia
While saving the sales order with item category TAS material, we are getting the error "SPECIFY THE EXPORT DATA IN MATERIAL MASTER. LICENSE STATUS IS NOT OK"
Please let me know how the error can be solved or any document available.

PhaniIn VA03,for the sales order, go to menu Extras->export control->log.
Double click on the line that shows the red indicator. The system will display for which legal regulation the license is missing. You can find the legal regulation in the material master-> Foreign trade;export or import data tab-> by clicking legal control button.
Use t.code VX01N/VX02N to maintain the license data for the customer/material. This will resolve the issue.
