Saving images onto flash drive

How do you download pictures from iPhoto onto a flash drive device?

Export the photos via the iPhoto ➙ Export ➙ File Export menu option with Format = Original to a folder one the Desktop.  Then drag the folder onto the flash drive to copy.  That will copy the original image files to the flash drive.

    Hi,
Unfortunately you can create only 1 set of recovery media.
Copying and burning the recovery USB to DVD and then using DVD to do system recovery will not work.
What you can do is back up all your data to an external drive. Do a Factory Reset with the Recovery USB to get back all the partitions including the recovery partition into the HDD.

  • How to get captions to go with pictures when saving to a flash drive?

I JUST SPENT ABOUT 2 WEEKS GETTING NAMES OF PEOPLE AT MY GRANDDAUGHTERS WEDDING AND ADDING TO THE CAPTIONS ALONG WITH PLACE PICTURE WAS TAKEN AND DATE.
i JUST COPIED  AND PASTED THEM FROM ADOBE PHOTOSHOP ELEMENTS 10 TO A FLASH DRIVE.  HOWEVER, NO CAPTIONS.  hOW DO i DO THAT?????

OK, for your family to do that, you don't really want to have the caption written on the picture:  for them to "delete it to print just the picture", that caption would have to be saved as a separate layer, and the image saved in a format that supports layers like PSD or TIF.  Then, your family members would have to mess around with some kind of image editing software that would allow them to hide that layer with the caption before printing it, and so on....
Here's what to try (and you can test the procedure yourself on your computer):
Right-click on a photo in the Organizer and choose "Add Caption".
Write your caption and click "OK".
Use File...Export As New File(s) to export that image to your flash drive.
Use Windows Explorer to look at the image on your flash drive.  At the bottom of the Windows Explorer window, you'll see the various pieces of info about the picture, and your caption will be listed as the "Title".
Although you have to do steps 1 and 2 one-at-a-time for each photo, when you're done with those steps, you can highlight all the images and do step 3 for all of them at once.
Does that accomplish what you're looking for?

  • Copied images from flash drive and they are invisible. how do I make them visible

I have copied some image files (jpeg format) from a flash drive onto my imac. When I go to view the images they do not appear. When I try to copy them again, there is a message that I cannot modify invisible images. These images were originally downloaded to a windows-based computer and copied to the flash drive. Is there a way to make these image files visible? I am trying to use them for a website. Thanks!

Open Terminal in the Utilities folder. Enter at the prompt:
    chflags nohidden
After the word "hidden" put a space and type in the path to and name of the file. For example, if they are on the Desktop: chflags nohidden ~/Desktop/name_of_file. Include the file's extension. Press RETURN. If all the files have the same extensions, then use chflags nohidden ~/Desktop/*.jpg or *.jpeg.

  • Saving errors concerning flash drives

Recently I was editing a pdf file, specifically adding annotations to the material, off of an external flash drive. I ended up leaving the computer alone for a while, having not saved the file and put the pc into hibernate. While it was in this state, I ended up removing the memory stick so that I could put a different file on it onto another computer. After have done this, I returned to the original computer that I was using to the edit the pdf and took it out of hibernate. I plugged my memory stick back in and clicked on the pdf in question to continue adding annotations. Most of the pages of the pdf were blanked out, and any attempt made to save the pdf was met with an error message: "The external volume of the file has been changed, so the copy open is invalid". Eventually, I closed the file without saving and opened it up anew from my memory stick: in the past, this has prompted the system to grant an error message saying that the file in question did not shut down properly and restore the lost data. In this case, it did not work. Can anybody explain to me exactly what has happened in this situation, what has happened or not happened to the edits I have made, why there is no automatic backup like usual and how this state of affairs can be mitigated, now and in the future?

If you take a memory stick out and put it back, the system doesn't pick up where it left off. Rather, it behaves exactly as if it were a different stick. Programs that were using file on the stick are left high and dry, and there is no way to recover them except to reopen the files - it may not be possible to close them.
Furthermore, removing a stick without shutting it down may leave files half written and permanently damaged, and this is true whether you are hibernated or not.
Never remove a stick for files that are in use. For safety, never remove a stick while hibernated. Instead, always use the "Safely remove hardware" feature while the system is running. This will reject any attempt to remove a stick where something is in use.

  • Copy iphoto images to flash drive to pc

I scuba dive and download my pictures to my iBook. I like to edit them on my PC. How do I copy the jpegs to my flash drive to import to pc? I notice there are data folders and thumb folders. Can someone help?
    Thanks.

    Hi there,
The easiest and safest way is to open iPhoto select image > Share > Export Option... make a folder on your desktop and export to here, afterwards simply copy to flash drive. I do this everytime I need to go between PC and Mac...
I suggest you use the Flash Drive FIRST on the PC, it will automatically be formatted so you can use on both machines.

  • How do I get an EVENT saved on a flash drive?

I have exported my projects and imported them again to make them events so they could all be put together for one long video.  When I play it back, it plays perfectly just as I wanted it to.  The problem now, is that I don't know how I can save it to a flash drive. :/  Any help would be great!
    RCallaham

Just create a new project and select the whole video clips in that event to this project for output.
How to select the whole video clips: Press Shift + right click on one video clip and choose the option: Select Entire Clip.
Hope it helps. Note: the output must be in Project but not Event.

  • How do i save a photo from iPhoto onto flash drive using new lion software

Trying to save a photo in iphoto (using new lion software on my mac) to a flash drive.  There is no save button and can no longer just drag the photo into the drive.  Any ideas.

You can select the thumbnail and type Command+C to copy it.  Then click on the Desktop and type Command+V to paste it.  That will get you the latest version of the photo in iPhoto.
However, you should be able to drag the photo to the desktop.  Launch iPhoto with the Option and Command keys held down and rebuilt the library with the first and last options selected.
If that doesn't do the trick use Disk Utility to repair disk permissions.

  • Can I burn bigger-than-DVD image onto hard drive and run it off hard drive?

I'm trying to create a DVD Kiosk of sorts. I have a series of instructional videos we have created--I would like it to play a video from the menu randomly if left alone for a period of time, and if someone moves the mouse, they will be given the DVD menu from which they can select one of the videos. This will take a lot of script writing, of course, and I also have more videos than will fit on one DVD.
*What I need to know is: Will Final Cut let me burn a disc image that's bigger than 4.7GB onto my hard drive so that I can just run this directly from a Mac Mini? If not directly possible when saving it, is there a work around?*
Additionally, if anyone has any wisdom or knows of any resources that would assist in writing such a script, that's also welcome.
    Thanks for your help.

The short answer is yes. You don't need (or want) a disc image. You want just the folders from the build (AUDIO_TS, VIDEO_TS). You will get warnings but it will do it. You can also set up DVDSP to make a DVD-9 disc so you can get an idea of the project's size as you work and not get the warnings.
Within DVD authoring there is no way to recognize a mouse movement, but you could have an overlay that says GO to Menu on these random playing clips. Now to do this without doubling the assets for the motion clips (one with/one without overlay) you need to right a script that controls when the overlay shows. From menu timeout overlay on. From user action overlay off.
btw its not Final Cut that will make the image but DVD Studio Pro.

  • Moving Sparse Disk Image onto Hard Drive

I created an 8 gig sparse disk image of a 15 minute video.  I want to move the sparse disk image off my computer into an external hard drive.  I cannot seem to be able to do this.  The sparse disk image shows up as a hard drive and I cannot drag and drop it onto a folder I created for sparse disk images on my external hard drive.  My goal is to store it there and be able to double click it to bring it back into Final Cut Pro X as a Drive containing my video.

Unmount the sparse image. Once it's mounted it's a disk. Unmount it and you can move the file that is the sparse image. Once you've moved it you can reopen it and mount the disk again.

  • Saving images from Flash

Hi, I need to know how I can save an image from a webpage
that usesFlash, in order to handle it .

If you have Acrobat 9, you might be able to save the webpage
using the "Create a PDF" from webpage command - depending on how
    self-contained the flash file is.

  • How to create a disk image for flash drive backup

I tried to follow the instructions here – http://www.apple.com/uk/pro/tips/lockyourdata.html – without success. How do I encrypt the contents of my memory stick?

There is another way to do this if you are a bit adventurous: the terminal. I don't have a lot of experience using the terminal for this, but I just tried it, and it worked, and very quickly (a few seconds to create a 5 gig sparse image). The "terminal" is in utilities, and gives you access to the UNIX underpinnings of os x. OS X is essentially a GUI for UNIX. If you decide to try this, be very careful, and enter the commands exactly as written.
    1. make sure you have a backup of your folder that you want to encrypt.
    2. a backup of your whole system wouldn't be a bad idea either
    3. open terminal (applications> utilities)
    4. select the following line:
hdiutil create -encryption -size 5g -type SPARSE -fs HFS+ -volname Image ~/Desktop/image
    6. Do not select any spaces before the first "h" or after the last "e".
6.5 do command-C to copy what you just selected.
    7. go back to terminal. You should see something like this:
arthurs-mac-mini:~ arthur$ (and then a little grey square)
    8. In my case, the "arthurs-mac-mini" is the name of my computer, and the "arthur$" is the user account currently logged in. the grey square is like the cursor.
    9. paste the line you copied and hit return
    10. it should prompt you twice to enter a password. enter it and hit return after each.
    11. your new sparse image should appear on your desktop. If you like you can change the name of it from "image" to something else.
    12. you can then open the image and copy your folder contents to it. The image should resize itself automatically to whatever you put in it.
    13. hope this helps. let me know how it turns out.

  • Saving work onto networked drive

    Hi everyone,
I've just set up a network between my G4 Cube and a G3 Powerbook using an ethernet router.
I want to be able to mount the Cube's HD on the Powerbook's desktop (done), open files from the Cube's HD on the Powerbook(done), then edit the files from the powerbook and save it in the same location (the Cube's pictures folder - can't do that bit).
I've set the permissions for the files for all users to read and write, but it still says that I don't have permission.
    Have I missed anything?

I think I've sorted it now. After setting the permissions for the folder I want to access I restarted the machine! seems to be fine now. Should have tried that first I guess (stupid boy!)
