Saving in alternate formats.

When pages give me a check box that says "save copy as ms word doc" is it lying? It looks like it doesn't copy anything, it just saves the file as a word doc when I select that option. So, the real question is "do I look around more for the .pages file I thought I saved so I can continue editing, or just assume that I lost all the format changes I made and start from the last version?"

Last time I checked, the word "copy" meant that there were two of something...
There are two, the copy in Word format & the Pages one you're working on. Saving a copy as does not change the Pages document you're working on into Word.

  • Saving in different formats

    I commonly save my photos, when I have worked on them, as .psd files, and then again as .jpg files. Sometimes - not always - when I have saved the .psd file, and then save it as .jpg it adds the word "copy" to the name. Is there any way I can switch this irritating habit off?

    Files with layers get saved as copies when saving to a format, like JPEG, that doesn't allow layers. Flatten your image first, or use Save for Web to create your JPEGs.

  • Change codepage in OIM reports saved in CSV format (e.g. UTF8 - Win1251)

    Hello guys.
    I have OIM V.9.1 installed on WebLogic. For some reason my customer would like to have OIM reports saved in CSV format encoded with codepage differ from default UTF8 (actually desired codepage is Windows 1251 but it is doesn't matter). I think that there should be a way to change default codepage for OIM reports via OIM's settings.
    There is no any information on it in the documentation.
    Does anybody already met this problem? Any help would be highly appreciated.

  • I have a document in Tamil language scanned and saved in TDF format. How to edit this?

    I have a document in Tamil language scanned and saved in TDF format. How to edit this?

    try NeoOffice or OpenOffice. I don't know what apps you have. Pages might open it or TextEdit, but, again, I don't know. All I can do is suggest. If you are really a stickler for format,  if you're on that dell PC again, try saving the document as a .pdf and then putting it on the thumb drive.

  • How may i fill out a form on a scanned form saved in pdf format?

    how may i fill out a form on a scanned form saved in pdf format?

    With Acrobat you can either add interactive form fields (manually or with the Form Wizard), or you can use the Typewriter tool to add a type of text comment. Exactly how you do either of these depends on which version of Acrobat you're using.
    If you only have Reader, there's nothing you can if the document doesn't have interactive form fields or if it hasn't been Reader-enabled to allow use of the typewriter tool or other commenting.

  • How do i open a photo taken with sony p1 camera saved in dsc format on cd?

    How do i open a photo taken with sony P1 camera saved in DSC format on a CD?

    The P1 looks like a high end video camera not a still photo camera to me and DSC files appear to be support files not photo or movie files
    Why do you think that you have photos in a DSC format?
    You might give Google a shot and see what you can find but it looks to me like you do not have either image or video files but supporting files - and if you have video files you may have to use iMovie - it is much more robust at working with videos

  • How can I transfer photos saved in iPhoto format to a pc?

    I got a CD with photos that were saved in iPhoto format. I have a PC and want to change the iPhoto format into something my PC can read and then copy the photos onto another CD in .bmp or some other format. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

    There's no such thing as an "iPhoto format". iPhoto stores the pics in whatever format your camera took them - in most cases that will be bog standard jpegs. These can be viewed on any system.

  • Saving as .eps format compatible with Adobe Illustrator CS6 or earlier versions

    saving as .eps format compatible with Adobe Illustrator CS6 or earlier versions??
    does this mean cs6 or newer, or cs6 and older versions?

    Don't use EPS anymore. It has been replaced by PDF or AI with PDF compatibility. If you use PDF use either a PDF/X-4 or a PDF without flattening transparency, so you will be able to use layers in other applications.
    If you need to use a file in an older version you should save it as AI file in the version you want to open it. But it can happen, when you use some effects it can cause a flattening or rasterizing of a file or parts of it. So keep ALWAYS the file in the version you have created it.

  • Workbook is not getting saved in PDF format on website directory

    I have an Excel workbook, which I am trying to save in Pdf file format on website directory at azure, and after creating pdf uploading it on azure blob storage. The code is working fine on local but on web server it is not uploading pdf on storage,
    Code Ex:
    //Save the document in html format
                    workbook.Save(excelFile);
                    string fileName = System.IO.Path.GetRandomFileName();
                    string realPath = Server.MapPath("~/Content/");
                    string pdfFile = realPath + fileName + ".Pdf";
                    workbook.Save(pdfFile, SaveFormat.Pdf);
    Below code I am using to upload PDf file on Storage:
    private string UploadPdfFileToStorage(string filePath, string fileName)
                //Console.WriteLine("Second:=>" + filePath);
                // Retrieve storage account from connection string.
                var storageAccount = CloudStorageAccount.Parse(CloudConfigurationManager.GetSetting("StorageConnectionString"));
                // Create the blob client.
                CloudBlobClient blobClient = storageAccount.CreateCloudBlobClient();
                // Retrieve a reference to a container.
                CloudBlobContainer container = blobClient.GetContainerReference("reporthtmlfiles");
                // Create the container if it doesn't already exist.
                container.CreateIfNotExists();
                //Permit container for public acces
                container.SetPermissions(new BlobContainerPermissions { PublicAccess = BlobContainerPublicAccessType.Container });
                fileName = fileName + ".pdf";
                CloudBlockBlob blockBlob = container.GetBlockBlobReference(fileName);
                blockBlob.Properties.ContentType = "application/pdf";
                byte[] file = System.IO.File.ReadAllBytes(filePath);
                MemoryStream objMemoryStream = new MemoryStream(file);
                objMemoryStream.Seek(0, SeekOrigin.Begin);
                blockBlob.UploadFromStream(objMemoryStream);
                objMemoryStream.Close();
                return blockBlob.Uri.AbsoluteUri;
    Please help, thanks in advance

    Hi,
    Based on your description, your pdf file is saved to server side, so if you try above code on your local, you could read the file, but, if host your application to azure, you need to get the file stream first, then upload from the stream. Please set
    the breakpoint at: "byte[] file = System.IO.File.ReadAllBytes(filePath);" check this file variable.
    Best Regards,

    Thoughts and suggestions?

    I have a Support Request open with Oracle right now (it's taking a few weeks to resolve) but here's the update:
    OBIEE 10g handles DATE types differently than 11g. Both the support rep and I can't figure out how, but they are different. If you bring the column in as a DATETIME in your Physical Layer you can't save it system-wide, even if you do set a time zone for your account (My Account -> Preferences -> Time Zone). If you bring the column in as DATE you can save it system-wide but you can't display the hours/mins/secs, only the M/D/Y. This has been tested on a 9i and 10g database and produced the same thing on both. The problem never occurred with those same columns using OBIEE 10g.
    Oracle support has not fully admitted this as a bug, but the rep working on this SR said this will probably be fixed in the next release- 11.1.1.4, which is due out late Jan/early Feb of this year. He is trying to reproduce this so he can log it as a bug (which we all are hoping for!) so Oracle can address it.
    For now, I've found that you are stuck with two options: 1) bring the column in as a DATE, display it system-wide as a saved format, but you can't show the time, and 2) don't save that date value with a system-wide formatting and set it manually on every report you need a custom format (don't forget to set your time zone).
    If I hear anything more back from Oracle support I'll update this thread.
    Sorry guys, looks like we're all stranded on this one...

  • Adobe CS6 crashes after opening a file authored in CC but saved in CS6 format

    I generally create my project assignments for school on the Mac side of my computer (10.9) using Adobe CC 17.1 (latest version).  However, if I am not done, and need to do my normal job, I just bootcamp over to Windows 7, and use CC there to finish the job.
    I then save the AI file in CS6 format via CC, and submit it to my instructor.  However, in both instances (both projects I submitted tha were converted to CS6), they wouldn't open on my instructors  Mac CS6 client.  No error showed up, nothing froze, Adobe CS6 just showed the splash screen, then closed.  Nothing else.  She was able to view them in another reader, but of course, that causes issues.
    Normally the workflow is like this:
    My Mac (10.9):  Open CC Illustrator, and design the work.
    My Windows 7 (Bootcamp):  Open saved CC AI file and continue work.
    ------(same system):  Save CC AI file as CS6 (on windows or mac, either one has producted this result)
    Submit to instructor.
    Instructor opens on CS6 on her Mac, and it just will not open.
    I am wondering if perhaps there is a conversion issue between CC on Mac side, and opening it on CC windows side, and then saving it.
    I may have more information, assuming my instructor provides some more details about her mac, etc.  But, right now, that's all I have.

    Is there anything in Event viewer that might provide a clue? Are you using the same font manager/font server on all systems that you tried to open the file?  Any possibility of trying to open on a Mac, where we might be able to get a real crash report? (I'm on Windows as well.) :(  Try setting the prefs to not check links on open and see if that makes a difference, and uninstall any font activation plugin if you have one. I don't use a font' manager here -- never found one I thought was any good that I could make work with my system (Font Agent Pro was a candidate, but didn't like my user profiles being on drive D:).

  • Having trouble saving as .doc format

    I am having real trouble saving any edited documents to .doc format.  I am editting my CV and it is obviously neccessary for it to be compatible with microsoft office so I save a copy as .doc but as I edit it and go to resave as .doc it does not save the changes, when I go back into it the document has reverted back to my last copy of my CV.
    Please help!! I have rang apple but because my apple care has expired they want to charge me £35 to help me??

    Nic,
    No charges here .
    The first thing that comes to mind is that your understanding of how this works may not match the way Pages does this. You'll use either File > Export > Word... or Share > Export > Word... . Neither will update a previously exported document unless you choose the same filename for the second export as for the first, and then override the warning.

  • Saving chosen date format in csv-file

    I format all cells in one column to a dateformat dd-mmm-yy
    i.e. 01-jan-06, works fine I have all the dates in the year by clicking on first cell.
    BUT I can not SAVE the file as csv keeping the format - it is saved as 01-01-2006, which I can not use.
    I do this in Excel all the time - do I have to do something special in Staroffice Calc 8.0 ?

    A similar issue faced here trying to save a worksheet (Staroffice Version 8) in .csv format. The worksheet had one column for date of birth formatted as "dd/mm/yyyy" and another one for age using formula "=TODAY()-B6", formatted as "yy". In the corresponding .csv file the age column showed up as "dd/mm/yyyy" as against the required "yy" format . On saving the data in text file with the space delimited option, the date of birth column showed up in the "mm/dd/yyy" format - the age column however was in the desired "yy" format.
    Here is a workaround though;
    On your existing staroffice worksheet format all the data just as would like it appear in the .csv file. The trick is to transfer the data into an intermediate application that does not understand the underlying formatting or formula, which in our case will be notepad. Copy the entire range of data from your staroffice worksheet into notepad. Minimise notepad after the data has been pasted. Save and exit the existing staroffice workbook. Open a new workbook, select the entire range that is going to hold the data and then format the cells as "text". Now, maximise notepad, select all the data using the edit menu and copy it into the new worksheet. The data should appear just as it was in the original worksheet, but without any formatting or formula. You can now proceed to save the data in a .csv file without having to worry about changed date formats.
    However, if you have come across some other method through which this issue has been resolved, please post here or drop me a a mail
