Saving in CS6 get's slow

I'm working on a project, and experiencing that the save operation takes a lot of time. The project is containing quite many files, but still I wouldn't expect premiere to occupy 2-3 minutes each time it saves/auto-saves. It's very annoying.
The save progress indicator goes almost to complete, but staggers at the near end.
The project file is around 55 MB.
Is this a bug? Any advice? Thanks
Editing on win7 64bit / cs6 on SSD, 12gb ram, media and project on 7200 rpm 3TB sata drive.

Update: Sometimes it saves at normal speed aswell, only spending a few seconds.
So I decided to look closer at the system monitor, and it seemes like premiere is using 8,1 GB memory (In preferences max available is set to 9 GB). Is seemes to stagger at that approx 8 196 000 kb limit, indicating that memory usage might be the cause of operation slowing down?? (I'm not a computer expert, so please correct me:)
CPU usage doesn't seem to go beyond 50 % at any times.

It looks like you're actually using a camera or phone to take a photo of your monitor.
That's not what is commonly known as a "screen shot".
It looks like you're on a Mac. Hitting Command+Shift+3 places a capture of the contents of your entire monitor on your Desktop; hitting Command+Shift+4 will give you a cross-hairs cursor for you to select just the portion you want to capture.
I'm mentioning this because I fear I'm not construing your original post correctly when you type "I am working with a large files [sic], currently it has 149 layers, all of which are high resolution photographs", so I'm wondering if there's some similar use of your own idiosyncratic nomenclature in your description of your troublesome file.
Perhaps I'm just having a major senior moment myself, but I'm utterly unable to imagine such a file. Would you mind elaborating?

I'm experiencing the same trouble. Photoshop takes 5 minutes to open then runs fine.
I recently bought a new iMac AND updated to Adobe Master Collection CS6. My concern is that PhotoShop now takes 5 minutes to open. The Photoshop desktop pops up immediately, but the moment you click on a tool or try to open a file (no matter the size) results in the spinning wheel for five minutes before you can do anything. After that, Photoshop appears to work fine.
What I’ve done:
Ran Adobe updater
Reset Photoshop Preferences
Validated all fonts and removed any trouble fonts
Ran the font test
Set font preview size to none
Cleared the Photoshop type cache and system cache
Disabled Symantec Endpoint
Tried running with the GPU processor on/off and in basic
Tried opening Photoshop with optional third party plug-ins turned off (still took five minutes but this time I didn’t even get the Photoshop desktop view until AFTER the five minutes)
I’m wondering since I migrated the files form my old computer (and older versions of Master Collection) did something get corrupted.

AE CS6 is really Slow!

Hi,
So I have downloaded the CS6 suite to test before I sign up for the Creative Cloud.
I am finding AE CS6 to be slower than CS5.5, when I scrub through the time time line in CS5.5 I get an update in a pixelated preview but in CS6 all i get is the bounding boxes of the layers moving and ocasionally a really really pizelated preview which is usless. Adobe bosted that this iteration of AE to be faster than the previous, but I can't see it. All I am animating is basic 2D text!!!
Do I have to set up my Quadro 4000 or should it just work?

I didn't do the jump yet, still running my CS5.5 (since am in the progress of some works and can't really do it right now) but it's a matter of days. Before start reading anything related to CS6 performances I got the feeling that those wouldn't have been the same. Adobe says there will be improvements, regardless of the machine you got, keeping in mind that of course some features described as depending to CUDA acceleration in their white papers won't work under non-Nvidia cards. Ok, I can deal whit it, ray tracing stuff is good although not essential to me, dealing those kinda thiings with my 3D package. However, certainly I wanna know if the update is gonna bog down my system.
In my thoughts, I guess some considerations need to be taken in account about global cache performance. Surfing around on the web I found this comment on a Prolost article, which you can read here: http://prolost.com/blog/2012/5/24/ray-tracing-in-after-effects-cs6.html

I spent the weekend working in AE CS6, and the noticed that disk cache is large. 50 Gb on average during the time I was working. In an earlier post I said that CS6 seemed a little more crash prone than previous versions, and that also the crashes were harder than most - the app just vanished at times in front of my eyes with no warning.
Last night the drive that I was using as my cache became very corrupt - to the point that it couldn't be fixed with disk utility or Disk Warrior, and I had no choice but reformat it completely.
Luckily the workstation I was using has 3 internal drives and I'd taken Adobe's advice an allocated a spare one to be the new GC - so it was frustrating but not too big a deal.
However the point is, I did this for speed - I didn't think about what happens if you're regularly reading and writing 50Gb of data in single comp and crashes happen.
If the GC was your on system drive, and that drive wasn't fully backed up, this would be very bad indeed - you be looking a complete re-install of the OS and applications.
Its worth noting I'm really liking the global cache feature - it's big improvement. I'm also definitely not pointing the finger at Adobe for my disk dying. My directories could have had some problems already which I just exposed by continually swapping so much data so quickly. This is not the most scientific test - I could have been causing the crashes by using a drive with errors...
A 50Gb disk cache of small separate files is a lot of balls in the air for the hard drive. If you get crashes some of that data may get corrupted - which in turn may make crashing more likely. Your disk will then get chewed up fairly quickly, and you may not notice this. I didn't.
Lesson to self: Global cache should be on a drive that really doesn't contain anything else of value - FOR SPPED AND SYSTEM SAFETY. This drive should maybe be reformatted and verified regularly, so that it functions as Adobe intend it to.
Because it will be doing a lot of hard work for you."
I think it's a great advise that maybe not everyone have been following yet, so, hope this will be useful for someone of you having your system running unpredictably slow (and unaware of the dangers).

Adobe has absolutely acknowledged issues for some users with CC and there are well over 700,000 paid CC subscribers. I suggest you check your facts before posting complete nonsense.
Where has this been acknowledged? If so it is still not fixed.
CS6 sold 14.5 million copies. An advertisement email from Adobe stating: "Join the over 650,000 creative professionals who’ve already made the switch to Creative Cloud* and get everything you need to create, collaborate, and publish all in one place. And with a Creative Cloud membership, you’ll always have the most advanced design features the minute they become available. At the Q2 earnings Adobe stated 770,000 subscribers. Why do the state 120,000 less? Did 120,000 early adopters not continue the subscription?"
That may be more that a few but hardly worth risking having access to the latest new bugs the minute they become available.

My TC getting extremely slow

Hello guys. I use my TC just as a hard drive. I have been saving HD videos there. One of the reasons I bought the TC is because I have a lot of HD movies and they occupy a lot of space, so I save them. I have been saving movies and videos there long time ago, but I started with the HD one week ago. Today it started getting very slow and I don't know why. I thought it was because I was occupying a lot of space since the movies are from 3 to 5 GB, but I have video folders that are even bigger. Does someone knows what is going on and how can I solve it?

A 500ms+ first hop delay is not good. You should be seeing 10-20ms. Just to take DNS out of the picture ... run the tracert again with the "-d" option to not do name resolution.
If it goes away when you use the "-d" option, then you have DNS issues.
If it doesn't go away, then it's in the first hop. First thing to try is always rebooting the router, followed by a reset and reboot of the router. These are both easy to do.
Generally not encouraged, one thing you could should these not yield any change in behavior would be to reset the ONT. Unplug the battery on the power supply block feeding the ONT and then unplug the power brick for about a minute and then plug in the ONT and reattached the battery.
As you mention multiple PC's, I'm sure you disconnected everything but one PC which you then tested directly connected to a port on the router? And you've done this on at least 2 different PC's just to rule out anything hardware related in the PC itself?

Let us go back over that Adobe document regarding troubleshooting damaged projects.

I want to make sure that we have gone through everything in that document and ruled all factors there in or out. If it was a matter of you not understanding the instructions, I am hoping that the above will channel you questions to me so that I can clarify anything that you did not understand in the Adobe document instructions.
I do not recall if I asked previously. Even if you cannot open all your saved/closed projects, can you still open a new project and save/close it? Maybe even reopen it?

Thank you very much for your reply gdgmacguy :) I did all you suggested apart from restore as new device . Didn't know I could do that . After restore I did restore from back up only, as I didn't want to end up without contacts details on my phone. If I restore as new device how do I get my all contacts? Why Photoshop and Illustrator CS6 are so slow on my MacBook Pro early 2011?

I recently installed Photoshop and Illustrator CS6 and they tend to lag even on just during normal work operations like zooming, opening a file, selecting a tool, browsing menus etc etc.
Cpu, Ram and Gpu usage are normal, I mean when I use these software there's at list 85% of free Cpu, 1GB of Ram still available, and 80% of free GPU. And I got 30GB left on my hardrive which is little but I believe is enough.
So I cannot believe this slow performance is due hardware limitations. There must be some driver issue or something else.
Anyone knows why CS6 is so slow?

My experience is that Photoshop can demand and use prodigious amounts of memory and disk space, much more than one might expect from the size of the files being worked on. While I don't have direct experience with CS6, my daughter uses CS4 on a Macbook Air with 4 GB memory and she had 100 GB free (on a 250 GB solid state drive). CS4 is less demanding than CS6, and in fact with the SSD, it runs pretty well, even with just 4 GB memory (the solid state drive is basically like memory, in fact, in some ways). However after running Photoshop on some projects for a while, we noticed she had only 60 GB free disk space. After restarting her Mac, she had 100 GB free again. Photoshop CS4 was using up 40 GB of disk space! And this was simply editting some (multiple) photos from a digital camera. Photoshop not only has its own memory management processes, but it also pages to disk and uses disk space as "scratch space" in its own fashion. I think that it is inadvisable to run Photoshop with less than 100 GB free disk space, and that's with CS4, not even CS6. And if you don't have a solid state drive, the throughput might slow down immensely unless you have a lot of memory (I think someone else pointed this out already).
Bottom line -- based on what I have seen with CS4, 4 GB memory is too low by at least a factor of x2 (16 GB memory would be even better), and I'd say a minimum of 100 GB free disk space is a must as well. I saw CS4 using more than 40 GB of "scratch disk space" and you are using CS6, which must use significantly more resources than CS4, and you indicate only 30 GB free space. That seems too low to me. I think other Adobe major software packages are similarly demanding, unlike any other software I have seen or used. For instance, I think you would have no trouble running MS-Office software (which is also known for using computer resources, but not anywhere as much as Adobe software).
One thing you can do is when you notice things slowing down, not only quit all other software except for CS6, but also in the Finder, under the Go menu, enter
/private/var
under Go To Folder ...
and then look in the folder called
vm
If you see swapfiles, add up the total space they are taking, and also the space taken by the sleepimage file. These are working to decrease the amount of free space you have and they can quickly grow to tens of GB when Photoshop and other Adobe softwares are running.
Since it sounds like you have now upgraded your RAM, that should help, but you may find that the swapfiles and sleepimage files are taking even more disk apce faster and I think 100 GB free space is needed to avoid further slowdowns.

My Macbook pro 13" is getting very slow.

Macbook Pro gets Extremely slow when itunes is open

When I launch Itunes my mac gets extremely slow. I mean so slow that right now it is open and i am watching my words catch up to my typing. If I play a song on itunes my processor doesn't go about 40% and it is still extremely slow. I even tried to wirelessly sync my iphone and it still is like this. Any one know why. I have lion with all updates. If I don't launch itunes I'm fine When I launch Itunes It drags like a mother...lol any and all help appreciated TIA!!

How much free space on the startup disk?
Right or control click the MacintoshHD icon. Click Get Info. In the Get Info window you will see Capacity and Available. Make sure you have a minimum of 15% free disk space.

My macbook works well while connected to the charger, but using the battery it gets really slow

My macbook pro 2011 yosemite 10.10.1, (2,3 GHz Intel Core i5 / 4 GB 1333 MHz DDR3 / Intel HD Graphics 3000 384 MB) recently started to present a problem that when using only the battery, it gets really slow, but connected to the charger, it operates normally. I have already taken to a technical assistance but was not presented any problem in the battery. And when I open activity monitor it shows that the kernel_task process uses almost 100% CPU and so is almost 0% idle, so it is almost impossible to use the computer (using the battery). Is there anything I can do to prevent this process using 100% CPU?

My recommendation for a SMC reset was initiated by your posts indication poor performance when under battery power. Often a SMC reset will correct bad battery behavior but apparently not in your case.

Are you just asking because you want to know, or do you have a problem you need to solve? I don't know how to write a program, but I think what your are describing is not an unusual thing for a program to do. The * tells you that changes have been made since the last save, and the program reserves a portion of memory for undo functions. I suppose a coder could tell you how it works, but I don't think it would help an average user to know, but that's just my opinion.
