Saving IPOD tunes from a computer

I have all of my IPOD tunes on a laptop but have to turn that laptop in for a new one. Is there a way for me to save all of the music I have downloaded and purchased off of the computer so that I can reload it to the new one I will be getting?

Burn a CD or DVD of the mp3 files. If your entire collection fits on the iPod you can simply download a program that copies music from the iPod to the computer.

  • I purchases music from i tunes from my computer when i synced phone my camera and photos are gone i tried to re syce now it says it cant back up says file is corrupt any ideas would be appr

ipurchace some music from i tunes from my computer then syced my iphone 4 got a message cant back up  phone file corupt but the music was put on the phone but my camera was missing in the apps and my photos wont pull up corectley tried to sync a couple of times still had same issues help would be appriciated

It does not immediately delete the files that are missing.. it merely tries to backup the new files it has discovered on the external drive. Since you moved the files there, the backup at least for a while will contain both copies.. and that is why it doesn't have enough space to backup.
Fixing the problem.. hmm pondini is the expert.. you should be able to delete the backup of the photos in existing backup.. there are instructions to do it.. but it is a very poor way to do things.
Much better. .archive off the existing backup.. this is long and slow but worth it. you need a usb drive of the same size as the TC drive. Then erase the TC and start a fresh set of backups.
The alternative is to use the USB drive as a new target.. but it is much slower than the TC internal drive.

    - If you previously turned on FIndMyiPod on the iPod in Settings>iCloud and wifi is on and connected go to iCloud: Find My iPhone, sign in and go to FIndMyiPhone
    - You can also have to iPod play a sound via iCloud.

How do i transfer ipod rigistration from old computer to new one?

    What "ipod registration"?
    Plug it in and sync.
It will erase your content form the ipod and replace with content from the new computer.  Make sure you have copied everything from your backup copy of your old computer to your new one first.

  • New computer,  want keep ipod music from old computer to new?

new computer,  want keep ipod music from old computer to new?

    Hi mtscott41,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I understand that you have music on an iPod from your old computer. You now have a new computer but do not want to have the music from the iPod erased when you sync to the new computer. If the music on your iPod was purchased from iTunes you can either transfer those purchases from the iPod to your new computer’s iTunes Library or you can download the previously purchased content directly to your iTunes Library from iTunes. Please use the following article as reference for transferring purchases.
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1848
The following article will show you how to download all of your previous purchases directly to iTunes if you would like to proceed this way.

If the music on your iPod was not purchased from iTunes and you still have the old computer, you may want to use a process called Home Sharing to transfer that content to your new computer. The following article explains Home Sharing.

    I hope this helps,

  • How do i uninstall an ipod touch from my computer?

How do i unistall my ipod touch from my computer? It is my sons and he would like to now put it on his own computer

All you have to do is not connect the iPod to your computer.
If he has his own Apple ID/iTunes account you can delete any media purchased with his account from your iTunes libary.
Unauthorize his account from your computer.
iTunes Store: About authorization and deauthorization
Delete the backup of his iPod from your computer: iTunes>Preferences>Devices.

    - If you previously turned on the FIndMyiPod feature and location service is on, and wifi is on and connected go to iCloud, sign in, and go to FindMyiPhone. It the iPod has been restored it will never show up.
    - Report to police and change the passwords fro all accounts used on the iPod.
    - Apple will not help
Reporting a lost or stolen Apple product
There is no way to prevent some one for restoring the iPod and using it themselves./selling it.

Ok, I had a glitch, forced to restart, and lost my train of thought.
Reinstalling iTunes should fix the major issue that might have gone wrong, perhaps your explaination points will disappear and everything will be peachy again.
But if they don't, you can open the XML file in iTunes Folder using a Text edit program to see what the common pathname is to the iTunes Music folder or where your content is located.
If you moved the itunes folder, it needs to go back.
I can't  download iTunes to my Vista virtual machine to test it out right now because iTunes is down, so I can't verify the pathname, perhaps your issue and the iTunes being down are related somehow?
You don't want to import all your music again, but it's a option, but you lose all your playlists, that's what I'm trying to recover.
If oyu don't have a whole lot of playlists, then simply select all the explaimation point music and delete, select File from the menu and import your itunes folder again.

iTunes on the coputer is used for listeneing to music/media, purchasing medi for iTunes/App stpores, and syncing media to the iPod and doing other things with the iPod.
iTunes on the iPod is where you purchase media from the iTunes store.
To synce media from tiTunes on your computer to the iPod see:

  • Saving volume setting from one computer to another...

    Hi...
My friend and I have identical iPods and we exchange tunes between one another's computers. We'd like the volume setting adjustments made by us in iTunes to be consisent on either iPod. But when we transfer the music files from one computer to the other, the volume settings always goes back to the normal setting.
Is there any way to save the volume settings made in iTunes, from one computer to another?
    Thanks for you time!

Which directories do you mean? The socket-$hostname, tmp-$hostname etc. shouldn't be of any importance and can be left behind. Important for akonadi are the .local/akonadi and .config/akonadi folders. What kind of errors exactly do you get?

  • Moving Tunes from one Computer to another

I have recently upgraded my computer and copied all my tunes from my old machine onto CD - some 9,000 tracks which took so much time!!
On the CD they are in AAC format and so I need to copy them individually to the new computer, but when I take the CD out of the computer I cannot play the track on my computer. Can anyone help?

I just installed Windows Vista, and had to do a "clean" install (which removed all of my programs). When I reinstalled itunes, it told me that my ipod is synced with another library. My ipod is now the sole place on which I've thousands of songs, and I actually don't have another library. Any solutions would be greatly appreciated.

  • Transfer Ipod backup from one computer to another.

I want to transfer my ipod back up from one computer to another. Is there a way to keep my back up file and use that on my new PC? 4th gen Ipod Touch, Windows XP to Windows 7

You need to transfer your iTunes library from your old Mac to your new Mac. Copy the iTunes named folder located in your Music folder on your old Mac and with iTunes quit on your new Mac, place the iTunes folder in the same location - in your Music folder. You also need to authorize your new Mac with your iTunes account with iTunes.
Before syncing contacts with the Address Book and calendar events with iCal on your new Mac, enter one contact in the Address Book and one calendar event in iCal on your new Mac. This will provide a merge prompt with the first sync for this data, which you want to select.
There is no need to transfer your iPhone's backup from your old Mac to your new Mac. iTunes on your new Mac will create a new backup for your iPhone automatically or you can do this manually. With your iPhone connected to iTunes on your new Mac, control-click on your iPhone under Devices in the iTunes source list and at the menu window that appears, select Back Up to create a new backup for your iPhone as of now.

  • Songs won't load into ipod nano from new computer.

Load itunes library from old computer.  Installed iTunes& authorized new computer.  iTunes recognizes my iPod nano (4th generation), but won't load songs when synchronizing.
Any suggestions on how to fix?

I am having a similar problem. I recent reset my iPod as some songs were just skipping during play (they showed on the screen but after a second would just skip to next song), and have been trying to re-sync with no success. I have over 8,000 songs and when I attempt to update songs iTunes puts about 100 or so songs on then stops and states all songs have been updated. When I select update again it adds another 100 or so. Counting to 8,000 is going to take a while!! Don't know what to do...iTunes 5.0.1.4 9/23/2005 firmware. HELP!
