The free trial is all I needed to migrate my iPod Touch library into my main iTunes library. For those that want to use this tool for the same needs there are some things that need to be moved manually, e.g. Apps. But you can do it within the program very easily. Also iBooks/PDFs etc. need to be moved manually. The help section will point you in the right direction.
No more switching iTunes libraries for me. -
Saving large tiff files as jpeg

I scanned, as a tiff file, a full-centre spread of a large newpaper. This had to be scanned in eight sections, the pages were so big on my A4 scanner window. When I joined all the sections up in Photoshop CS5, the size of the file was huge (about 21 inches by about 19 inches) It is also digitally large (about 320 MB, since the resolution is 300 dpi). Because I want to keep the composite photo but don't want the file to be so digitally large, yet need the good resolution, I thought it would be a good idea to save it as a jpeg file, which would give me the dimensions I need but not be so digitally bulky as the original. On pressing the drop-down menu for Saving As, the jpeg option did not appear in the dialogue box. Why is this, and how may I save the file in jpeg format? True to formCurt, I'm very appreciative of the help you have given so far. However, I did try to change the image to an 8-bit as you recommended, and, though it is possible to make this change, and thereby reduce the sheer amount of data in the photo, when I click to choose 8-bit, the picture goes all bright and weird. This is because when I click on 8-bit, a window also arises, called HDR toning. In this window are lots of sliders, and, try as I may, it does not seem to be possible to adjust anything to make the picture normal in appearance. If you have any useful comment on what to do to make the picture like it is before the change to 8-bit, I should be glad to hear it. Thanks in anticipation.

Regarding my Itunes library:
I'll try to explain my situation (sorry for my english).
I have a networkdrive where all my music is stored on. Itunes is installed on my macbook and I entered the network drive as my media file location.
I use my macbook to rip music and buy itunes music assuming it will all be placed in the media folder that I once entered.
Recently I found out that itunes had changed the location of my media folder to the local drive.
Since a time now (I can't exactly say when) I'm ripping many of my music collection to itunes.
Today i discovered the change of my media file location by itunes after I ripped some collections. When clicking the info button on some of the ripped files I see that they are not stored on my networkdrive, very normal, since the location of the media file is changed to local computer.
When I look in the finder I can find a local libray file (xml file) from 13 april and also one on my network drive but the date is from March. So this one is even older.
I suppose that the libray file is updated each time I add a song in itunes. So there must be anonther library file somewhere?
Is there a way to see which libarary file is used in itunes? I know you can start Itunes with the option key to select another library file but is it also possible to view in itunes which library file is used so I can consult the path of the library file in use?
What should i do to put all the local music to to my network drive and update the correct library to the new location of these files?
Why is there no alert when Itunes changes the location of the media files path?
Thankshi i had the same problem today when i updated my itunes to latest version. however, i have just found my songs in the 'itunes media' folder. this was accessed through 'my music' then keep clicking through until you find itunes media and all my library songs were in there and i then just added these files to my library and all were restored however, i have lost all my playlists but at least my 700 songs are back. very dissapointed with apple that they have let this happen with their latest update, the previous version was miles better than this one . hope you find them. stevo

Unable to import powerpoint .mov files nor see stuff in my time line
any ideas as to why I can't import my powerpoint .mov file into imovie? Powerpoint movie was created with the mac powerpoint software and make movie seems logical.
Also I can't see items in my time line correctly. If i choose a frame it shows me stuff either ahead of that frame or prior...never that frame I'm choosing.hi there, i'm not sure but i think it is because the powerpoint.mov file is actually an animation and has 3 x video tracks that cross fade. I have been saving photos that have been emailed to me on my ipad. They show up in the camera roll, but when I open the camera roll the thumbprints are jumbled and blurred and frozen. I can't get out of there unless I shut my ipad down and restart it. I can use other parts of my ipad ,but my camera roll remains frozen....help!
Have you tried restarting or resetting your iPad?
Restart: Press On/Off button until the Slide to Power Off slider appears, select Slide to Power Off and, after It shuts down, press the On/Off button until the Apple logo appears.
Reset: Press the Home and On/Off buttons at the same time and hold them until the Apple logo appears (about 10 seconds).
No data will be lost. -
My iPhone 4S camera needs a lot of time to open, after the latest two iOS 6 updates, help?
Whenever I tap on the camera app, it opens, but I can't take any pictures! It only shows a black screen ( the one that appears when you switch from camera to video) but it doesn't open and it doesn't show the scene or whatever is in front of the camera.
That is really annoying, it started to happen after that major update that took a lot of time (the first iOS 6 update) and continued after the second,I thought that the second would fix it but it didn't.
I'm using an iPhone 4S.
Did this happen to anyone else? If so how did you fix it? -if you did-

Thanks!Try resetting your phone by holding down the home and off button until the apple symbol comes up. Then if still doing, restore your phone in itunes from your backup.

It takes a lot of time to start up the imac. Sometimes more than 5 minutes.
Hi people, sometimes my imac 21" (late 2011), takes a lot of time to startup the whole operation system, sometimes it takes more than 5 minutes. I really don´t know if it´s linked to the fact that since I got this imac, I´ve never updated it.

didnt want to tear my mac apart to swap the int. hdd so i purchased a lacie rugged ssd and connected via thunderbolt, the difference was amazing, from powering up to surfing the net.......8 seconds!
from the "gong" to desktop 4 seconds! there is no cog while it loads!
my advice, get an external thunderbolt enclosure, it doesnt have to be lacie, there are loads out there, and bang a ssd in it. -

I have tried all the steps as suggested by the community partners i.e. uninstall/reinstall itunes (number of times). If I plug my ipad 2 on my office PC which has itunes, it is recognised immediately. My lap top does not show 'NEW HARDWARE FOUND" as iPad. It just says new hardware found and shows scanner and camera hardware recognised. In my opinion there could be programme file which is having conflict with ipad 2 recognisation. I am surprised to find that APPLE has not yet come out with straightforward steps for stting up procedures to avoid this recognition issue. It is waste of time and causing lot of aggravation among iPad 2 purchasers.
Sounds like it could be your computer and not Apple. Sounds like some registry issues and/or other underlying problems.
What are your computer specs? Year? Manufacturer? RAM? Processor (type & speed, # of cores), OS (32 bit? 64 bit? Professional? Standard?) -
Non of the factory installed software will open the .ps files.
I don't know of any Android app that will display PostScript (.ps) files. There are a many free PostScript to PDF converters, I would think that would be the best solution.

That is correct. In order to use BlackBerry App World and other apps such as GMail, Facebook and Twitter, you need a BlackBerry data package and access to BIS. Without BIS access, these apps will not work correctly, although you can access GMail online via your browser and you can manually download apps via your computer.

"Missing files" that are not missing
I am running LR 1.1 on a Windows MCE (effectively, XP) SP2 machine. The
library panel in the library module (which lists "All photographs",
"Quick Collection", etc.) shows "Missing Files 11". However, on
checking those files in that collection:
1 There is no question mark on the thumbnails indicating that LR has
lost track of them.
2 Right clicking on any of the thumbnails and choosing "Go to Folder in
Library" immediately shows the correct photo in the correct folder (all
are from the same folder and are Canon RAW files).
3 Right clicking on the folder name in the folder panel and choosing
"Synchronize Folder..." shows only one missing photo (which LR
persistently claims is damaged and refuses to import) - which is _not_
among the "Missing Files".
In other words, and in brief, LR seems to think some files are missing
although it in fact it knows they are not. (I have checked they are
present on the disk.)
For what it's worth, I usually do not tick "Include Photos from
Subitems" on the Library menu in the Library module - but even when I
did I could not get the problem to go away, so it doesn't appear to be
related to that.
While clearly not a huge problem, I am baffled and feel I have
overlooked something obvious. Can anyone assist, please?

I really like your approach, since no XMP data or deleting and reimporting of files is needed. However in my case it does not work on all the pictures marked as missing in one folder. After copying (moving doesn't work in MacOS, since files can be located no matter in which folder they are situated, so moving them has no effect in Lightroom) and relocating the folder in Lightroom (version 1.4.1 for MacOS), only a few files (5-10) in each folder are removed from the 'missing files' list. Repeating the procedure a number of times eventually clears the list, but when there are 160 files missing in a 4GB folder, this can take a while...
By accident I discovered that there is a way to correct all files at once in one folder when this happens. After moving/copying the files to their new location and starting Lightroom, select the files in the 'missing files' list and export these files. Where or how is not important, neither is the output (sometimes Lightroom will give an error, telling you it could not export the files because they are missing, sometimes there is no error at all and the files are exported normally). What is important however, is that this export somehow makes Lightroom 'aware' of all 'missing' files in a folder and not only the first 5-10, as was the case before.
After the export, continue with the procedure as described by Bruno, so select one of the missing files and click on the question mark to point out what the new location of the files is. In my case all 160 missing files in one folder were removed from the 'missing files' list at once, saving me a lot of time and work :).
So if you also have problems with files not being removed from the 'missing files' list, here is the new procedure (new step proceded by + sign):
- Close the lightroom library.
- Move the picture files to a new directory.
- Open the lightroom library.
- Now all files will show as missing and a question mark will appear
at the right of each thumbnail. The folders will also appear in red.
+ Export all missing files in this folder, so Lightroom is 'aware' of
all missing files and will correct all of them.
- Select a folder and click on the question mark of one of the
thumbnails to map the location of the picture to the directory in
which it was moved.
- Repeat the above step for each folder that appears in red.
Hope this is of help to others with the same problem :).
