Saving location?

I'm using Maps 3.01.
How do I save a location, either on line or off-line?
It seems I have to open Landmarks and then open another interation of Maps in order to do something as simple as saving my current location (when online) or finding a location offline and then trying to save it.

Ok, found it: On the 6710, I have to press the central cursor key.
Stupid me, I was looking under Options (once the zooming in and out had stopped)!

They only thing I can assume is that my external hard drive was slow to start and iTunes defaulted to its old directory (see the last paragraph at the link above). However, once my external was recognized shouldn't everything have fixed itself?

  • No nested folders in Saved Locations?

I love the Saved Locations feature in the Map module.  I imagine I will end up with large amounts of these over time, but currently the folder structure seems to be limited to root level folders.  Would it be possible to upgrade this to allow nested folders, in the same way as the Collections panel works?  I have large sets of incrementally nested location keywords, and it would be great to be able to mimic this structure here.
Nested folders would allow much better organisation of large collections of saved locations.  For example, I would sort first by country, then by province, then by area before finally having the locations themselves.
Overall, great work on the Map module.  There are various features and further integrations that it would be nice to see added in the future (maps in books and web, export options to create photo maps, adjustable altitude field in GPS metadata, etc.) but this is great for a first version.

I can confirm that Lightroom creates an LR-xx folder when trying to Undo a "New Folder" action......but in my case at least simply right-clicking on the LR-xx folder and selecting "Delete" gets rid of it.
    Windows 7, LR4.1.
If that's not working for you, you could try using Explorer/Finder to delete the LR-xx folders out of the "Locations" sub-folder of the Lightroom settings folder.

  • Default Saving Location Adobe Reader Version 11.0.1

Default Saving Location Adobe Reader 11.0.1 -
Since upgrading to Reader XI the default saving location no longer works. So esssentially in previous versions The file path would default to the last place you saved a document, so when saving multiple documents in the one file path it wasn't time consuming.
Since upgrading it does not do this anymore and you have to select the file saving path each time you open a new PDF, which adds to the time to save multiple documents, so currently I guess it just opens a temporary folder each time you select Save As.
Can you please advise the setting that needs to be altered to fix this.
    Thanks

Thank you.  We have tried that but it has not made any difference.  Adobe still requires a new file name to save the file.

  • Map Saved Locations & multiple computers

After spending hours of entering GPS coordinates and organizing them into Saved Locations, I was stunned to realize that when I attach the hard drive upon which my Catalogs and photos reside to my other computer-the Map module 'Saved Locations' are not there.
This tells me that the 'Saved Locations' infomation resides on the computer upon which they were created. How can I get those to my other computer?

Right mouse click on any saved location in Map module to display the context menu, choose 'Show in Finder/Explorer'. This will open a Finder/Explorer window with a folder labelled 'Locations' or 'My Locations'. Your saved locations should be stored in the relevant folder. You can then copy this folder over to other computer/disk drive.

  • Feature Request: Store "Saved Location" as part of metadata

Feature request: LR does not save the name of the user-created “Saved Location” (the ones that the user creates in the Saved Locations panel) as part of the metadata. But I could be a good idea to make this possible. As a general functionality or as a possibility to mark a checkbox which makes Lightroom copy "Saved Location" to IPTC-data.

  • Backing up/Exporting Saved Locations (.lmx files) ...

    Hi,
I have a Nokia 6700 classic phone with the basic version of OVI maps pre-installed. Over the last year or two I have built up a large amount of saved locations, which I understand are saved to the phone in the form of a .lmx file.
I am wondering how to back up/export these files incase I ever lose my phone, or if I want to send them to friends, or if in the future I ever want to buy a GPS and wish to convert these .lmx files into an appropriate format.
I have located possible solutions on the web:
    1)  /t5/Maps-Navigation-and-GPS/copy-nokia-lmx-file-from-phone-to-mapsource-on-pc/m-p/656802/highlight/t...
    2) http://abiteof.com/2010/09/14/nokia-maps-and-google-maps/
    3) http://www.trekkershut.co.in/index.php?option=com_kunena&func=view&catid=8&id=5&Itemid=31
The problem with all of these is that they seem to refer to a more updated version of OVI maps and not the basic version which is pre-installed on the Nokia 6700 classic, e.g. there is no 'Landmarks' option anywhere on the phone. I can enter 'Maps' and then 'Saved Locations', but I cannot 'Mark All' as the solutions above suggest. I can send a single .lmx file from this 'Saved Locations' menu, but this is no use to me because of the sheer number of locations and the obvious expense of doing so.
I have also tried to access the .lmx files after connecting the phone via USB and searching via windows explorer but to no avail.
I have the lastest OVI suite software installed on my PC (3.1.1.90 but when I try to backup via 'Tools', 'Backup', I can only seem to backup images, videos etc. and not any Maps data.
Any help at all would be much appreciated!

  • Navigon app  updated, now saved locations gone!!

Silly me - I allowed a Navigon "update" (via the normal updates mechanism) and the new version appears to have wiped all my saved locations (Favorites). Is there any way of recovering these from an iPhone backup in iTunes?

You might try History ("Alt+S") > "Restore preivous session", then also from History afterwards "Restore Windows" > "Restore All Windows"
Whether you get them back or have to recreate them, I would suggest that you save them all in a bookmark folder so your restore them at once and pin them each, or altogether if you have the "Multiple Tab Handler" extension.
Although I don't have a problem with them disappearing when I start Firefox, they always seemed like a potential problem over time. I use them but I often do start them over from a bookmarked folder so the are "clean" only one page per app-tab.

  • In Acrobat reader X -default saving location do not funcion.

In previous versions of Acrobat reader the application would remember where I usually save my files and would by default suggest the same location next time I attempted to save a document.
For employees that recieve hundreds of pdf.attachemts that needs to be saved its is huge effort to keep browsing to the folder of prefrens. This will be especially time requiring with a huge file structure that we normally have in companies.
If pfd attachments are openned trough outlook for example upon trying to save them adobeb suggests to save it in a outlook cash folder under internet temporary map.
This problem started with the latest version of Adobe and was not an issue with the ninth version. The X version always suggest to save the file to where it was oppened from and does not remember where I usually save my files.
    My question is:
Are you awear of this problem?`
Will there be a update with fix for this?
I have seen many asking the same question here but it has been remained unanswered.
    Thankful for anykind of feedback.

    This circumstance annoys me, too.
I already looked into the registry but couldn't find a matching key to edit this adjustment.
Is there any way to get rid of that and to recover the old behaviour?
    Would be very appreciated.
    Thanks in advance!

  • Saving Location @ Adobe Acrobat XI Pro

If you open a document with Adobe Acrobat X Pro and sign it, than the Software wants to save the document on the same place, like you opened it. In Adobe Acrobat XI Pro the software wants to save it on an other place.
Do anybody know this issue and is it possible to solve it?
    Gerhard

I followed up on this with some people who know more about saving in Acrobat and here's what I learned. When Acrobat saves a PDF it generally populates the 'Save as' dialog with the location for the saved file the same as the original file. But before it does that it checks that it can write to that location. If it cannot write to the location from where the original PDF came from, then it populates the 'Save as' dialog with the Acrobat's default location (it may be different in Acrobat and Reader and whether Reader is in Protected Mode or not). The most likely reason for your problem is that PDFs that you want to sign come from a location (like a network drive or cloud) to which Acrobat does not have full permissions.
To check that open one of your PDFs and try to "Save as" it. See if you get the same location as when you try to sign. Also, you can create a small text document in a Notepad and try to save it to the location from which your PDF came from. Se if Notepad allows you to do that.

  • File saving locations

A very frustrating feature of 10.8.2 is that there does not seem to be anyway to navigate to a folder that you haven't used in the last 4 or is in the left hand column of folders.
I have to save a file to the desktop or somewhere, then open finder and move it. That means if I want to open it with the "recent" file menu it is no longer in it's place.
What is the way around this apparent oversite?

The Finder and individual application save/save as windows offer four different filesystem views. Since you refer to the “left hand column of folders,” I believe you are using the columnar view. I use the left-most icon view as it remains a long-standing functionality habit.
Saving a file to the Desktop, and then moving it elsewhere, is not taking advantage of the application save/save as dialogs that allow you to navigate the filesystem and deposit the file at its exact intended location. If you use this principle, then the recent file menu will remain accurate.
I do not create labyrinthine folder hierarchies that make file placement difficult. That means that my Documents folder, by example, usually does not exceed two sub-folders deep. If you try to turn your filesystem into some nested sub-folder outline from hades, it will become unmanageable, and hinder your filesystem performance.
I suggest that the next time you happen to be at a book store with a Mac section, browse through some of the Mountain Lion books on using the Finder. Take your MacBook Pro with you, open the book, and practice. You will become more efficient without spending $50 for a book.

The only trouble with this is that also, it will ignore all of your other preferences and settings as well. All you've done is to start in 'Vanilla' mode. And unless I'm mistaken, the original settings are still all there for next time you forget, and start normally...

  • Button file opens in saved location, but won't open in new location.

I created a simple button that displays an error messeage: "error opening 'url" when I test the movie, but does play and opens in browser after publishing. However, it won't open in the browser in a different location. I mistakenly called it a button, sorry about that. This banner opens where it was originally saved when it was published in Flash CS5, as3. Yet, when I moved it to my desk top it wouldn't open. I wanted to it to open in a web page I created. But it wouldn't do either, open there nor on the desk top. It wouldn't test either when I tested the movie in Flash. But it would play. Strange. Now, how would I open it in the server that you mentioned?

  • Remembering last saved location

I just upgrading to Mountain Lion on my work computer. For the past four years I've been using Snow Leopard and have become pretty used to it.
My problem is that applications do not remember where I last saved a file. More specifically in acrobat. I'll open a PDF in Acrobat and "SAVE AS" navigate to a folder on my mac and save it. I will download another PDF (using Safari) open it and "SAVE AS" ... this is where 10.6 differs from 10.8. The save as window will be in the downloads folder instead of the folder I previously navigated and saved the last PDF file.
Hopefully this makes sense. Let me know if you have any ideas.
