Saving Logic Sudio To a MacBook Pro

I Currently have a 2.5ghz processor and a 4gb memory. I don't have the room on my computer to download all of logic studio on to my main hard drive, such as the tools and apple utility and all of the jam packs, audio content. How do i download these to an external drive? Must it be on a network or usb 2.0?

What's taking a lot of hard drive space are the Apple Loops (Jam Packs and Audio content from Soundtrack Pro). You can install them on another hard drive while installing by doing a custom install and choosing in which folder you want to put them. You shouldn't use a network drive for that (not fast enough) and although you can install them on a USB 2 drive, a Firewire drive is a better choice.

There are a lot of MacBook Pros with the model # A1286 - which year is your model (e.g., "15-inch Late 2011")?
The only place that I know that you might could score a specific logic board is www.ifixit.com. They may be able to ship to your hotel.

Remove the drive and put it in an external enclosure. Backup the drive completely. Repartition and format the drive. Replace the drive into the computer. Take the computer in for the logicboard replacement.

I've tried freezing all tracks but this has no effect. I've also bounced all soft synth tracks to audio, but to no avail. The computer stops playing
even at the start of the track where there is nothing but a kick drum happening.......

    Thank you for the suggestions.
I had previously tried all of the above but the airport/wireless thought. Unfortuneately, none of these things made a difference, including the wireless suggestion.
Currently, I am using my Mac's "cheapo" internal audio hardware  (haha). I have a one year old 27-inch iMac,  a good pair of bose speakers, and a polk sub. I don't believe it is an issue with my setup, considering I completely disconnected and unplugged it.
I did, however, do a little info hunting on the internal audio situation, since I was curious what is actually included, and I stumbled upon this interesting little tidbit about my model of iMac:
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2718054?start=0&tstart=0
I had previously wondered if I was hearing my mouse in my speakers as well (not just in logic). It appears that this model of iMac may have some grounding issues, as someone later in the thread suggested purchasing and using a ground loop isolator, which seemed to fix any extra interference for them.
Ironically though, I have since opened logic, and do not seem to be encountering my previous static issue(yet).
Fingers crossed, hoping that I will not be experiencing it again. Going to purchase a ground loop isolator, and continue to mess around with logic, just to make sure it was not just an internal audio issue with my iMac.

  • Problem with Logic Board in a Macbook Pro 15" 2011 in Argentina

Hi I am from Argentina and I am reporting a problem I've had a few weeks ago:
I was working with my computer (MacBook Pro 15 inch Late 2011) and it suddenly stopped working; the screen was frozen. I proceeded to restart it, but it couldn't enter the operative system, showing a gray screen.
Given this huge problem, I took my MacBook Pro to an authorized support centre in my country (Mac Station, 1184 Ayacucho , Buenos Aires - Argentina). The people there told me that the Logic Board was damaged. For this reason they set a budget of 2.440 dollars for the replacement part – plus the installation cost of 120 dollars. They were trying to charge me the equivalent to a new MacBook Pro model MGXC2LL/A purchased in the USA.
On the web it is documented that the 2011 MacBook Pro has recurrent failures on the Logic Board. How can it be that the total cost of repair in my country is five times the cost of repairing it in the United States? I think their official resellers in Argentina are taking advantage of us.
How I can get in touch with Apple support or someone who can give me a reason for that cost? Can I recieve official Apple answer in this comunity?
In advance: I haven't got Apple Care because Official Reseller from Argentina said me that Apple had discontinued in South America.

Thanks muchly will check it out now.

  • Where can i buy a NEW logic board for my macbook pro 2012?

My video card has recently failed, in this model video card is sticked to logic board.
Does anyone know where i can buy a NEW logic board? Its a Mid 2012 MacBook Pro

"Where" questions are more easily answered if you give your approximate location. Especially important if you live in the US because there is a low-cost repair option for which you can ask.
If you are out of warranty and you live in the US, the most cost-effective solution is a depot repair. Instead of fixing the computer in an Apple Store, it is sent to a central refurbishment center and they fix anything that's wrong (other than damage to the case and/or display) for a flat fee of around US$325. It takes about a working week but it is worth it. All the posts here from people who have availed themselves fo this option were glowing.

  • After replacing the logic board in my Macbook Pro it will no longer connect to the App Store.

I recently had to replace the logic board in my early 11 Macbook Pro (first gen i7).  With the release of Yosemite just a few weeks away I am trying to update from Snow Leopard 10.6.8 to Mavericks.  I'm afraid if I don't after this update it will become much harder.  I always lived by the rule if it ain't broke and for a long time Snow Leopard worked very well for what I needed to do.  All my software is current and there are no updates pending.  All my Keychain Access System Roots Certificates are good and I have no problems getting into iTunes.  I thought it might be something on Apples end but after 36 hours it's still the same problem.  When I try to open the App Store I get this:
Any ideas.  I don't use the App Store that much but until this I had never had this problem before.
    Thanks for the help.

    From the menu bar, select
               ▹ About This Mac
Below the "OS X" legend in the window that opens, the OS version appears. Click the version line twice to display the serial number. If the number is missing or invalid according to this web form, take the machine to an Apple Store or other authorized service center to have the problem corrected.

  • I know that there has been a big problem with logic boards on the MacBook Pro - shouldn't there be a recall? When I searched online about this problem was surprised to see so many MacBook Pro users with the same problem.

My computer was on one minute and off the next and will not restart. I took it to the apple store and
They said it is the logic board. I have been researching it and see that many MacBook Pro users have
Had the same issue. Doesn't seem fair to have to pay for something faulty on Apple's end. The computer
Is less than 3 years old. I expected it to work for a lot longer than this. Is there anything I can do that won't
Cost me? Also, how do I retrieve my files. I know they are on the hard drive but how do I get to them without
Having apple do it and probably charge me?
    <Subject Edited by Host>

    Did you buy AppleCare?
I guess not or you wouldn't be complaining.
how do I retrieve my files. I know they are on the hard drive but how do I get to them without
Having apple do it and probably charge me?
Easy, open it up, remove the drive and use a SATA to USB adapter to another Mac (or Windows PC with MacDrive)
My computer is dead, is my personal data lost?
For iPhoto Library, that's really a folder (it looks like a package) it can be right clicked on by OS x and "show package contents" to get the Origianls out.
However I don't know right off hand how that would appear on a Windows PC, perhaps as a iPhoto Library folder, perhaps not.
But the files are on the drive, and Data Rescue (Windows) can always be used to grab them directly.
iTunes Library can be transfered to a PC, as long as the account name is the same, it should work fine and maintain your playlists hopefully, but the music is easily accessible.

  • Install logic on my new macbook pro 2012

    Hi guys,
ive been scrolling the internet for days and actually can't find the solution to my next problem:
I bought the new macbook pro 15" running mac osx 10.7.4.
now i want to install logic 9 on this computer. Before this i've already been using logic on two computers, my Mac Pro and my older macbook pro (2008).
I installed logic pro 9 as in upgrade to Logic pro 8.
Ive tried installing logic pro 8 on the new laptop but it wont let me, says the new macbookpro doesnt support this program anymore.
Now ive tried installing logic 9 on the new macbook pro and it wont allow me. It wont accept my product liscence, I've tried it a hundred times, but it just wont let me.
Im not planning on using the older laptop anymore, should i uninstall logic from it? If so... how come i can't find the location of the liscence?
really hope hearing from u guys soon....

    Try this..
Copy the logic 8 icon from you old system to your new MB Pro application folder then try to install LP 9..
    Let us know result.
I think the OP will need to try and run L8 after he copies it, enter the serial for L8 then install the L9 upgrade.
Logic 8 will run in Lion, it just won't install because the L8 install uses some PowerPC code that needs the Rosetta emulation. Lion doesn't do Rosetta.

  • Where Can i buy a Brand New Logic Board for my Macbook Pro?

My Macbook Pro (Mid 2010 13") logic board got fried, so i was just wondering if possible, where i could get a new logic board. Also, would the new 2011 i7 logic board (if purchasable), for the 13" as well be compatible with the chassis/body of my mac?

Apple would be the main supplier of any replacement parts.

  • Installing an old version of Logic on a new Macbook Pro

I just purchased a Macbook Pro 13" non-retina and would like to know if (and how) I can install an old version of Logic Pro, such as Logic Pro 9 rather than the latest version, which is Logic Pro X.

It depends on which version of LP9 you own.....
If you don't already own an earlier version you cannot buy Logic Pro 9 any longer from Apple.. It is discontinued....
If you do own an earlier version then...
App Store version? Just sign into the Mac App Store... using the same Apple ID you used to purchase Logic in the first place...and Logic Pro 9 will be found under the Purchase Tab for you to click on and download..
DVD Version? Install via DVDs .... If you don't have a DVD player in your Mac you will need to purchase an external one.... or use another Mac which has a DVD drive using Remote Disk
DVD or CD sharing: Using Remote Disc
    Install....
Do not run Logic but instead....
Update to 9.1.8 via this link....
    Logic Pro 9.1.8
    Now launch Logic....

  • The Logic Board of my MacBook Pro Retina Display stopped working.

I purchased my MacBook Pro Retina Display 13 months ago. Barring a few errors the computer functioned beautifully, and I maintained it with the care it deserved. On Wednesday, last week, the laptop ceased to work completely. It wouldn't start, or charge. On submitting it for repair, I was informed that the logic board failed. Since its warranty lapsed a month ago, $1050 is required for its replacement. That outrageous amount is more than half of what I paid initially for the laptop. The service provider would not agree to any concession, or plea.
For an Apple enthusiast, it is very disheartening to learn that its foremost product stops operating in this manner. I am a high school senior, who has accustomed himself to his computer, and cannot at this time purchase a new laptop, let alone a Windows laptop. With college admission deadlines fast approaching, I solicit your help and suggestions, very desparately.

As much as it will suck to hear this answer, there really is no solution. Because the computer is now out of warranty, you have to pay the full $1050 to get the logic board replaced. I know this is a large sum of money, but you have to remember that the logic board includes the CPU, Graphics Card and RAM, all soldered onto the board. You're paying to replace all of the most expensive components of your computer, even if only one of them failed.
So, long story short, you'll have to either pay to replace the logic board, because it's out of warranty, or buy a new computer.

  • Logic 7.2 on MacBook Pro

I am very serous about fan noises of the MackBook Pro. Some say that it's fans are coming in occasionally. But some others say that the fans are always on. So would you listen carefully please and tell me what is the truth and how loud they are when they are coming in. I get systems under heavy load normaly because I am a logic pro user. So I am very interestet in noises the MackBook Pro makes under heavy cpu and memory load.
I am also interestet in it's noises when it is only playing some tracks in iTunes because I want to use it as a CDPlayer also and I don't wont to hear its fans when i am listening to music.

I would of course rip my CD's. I mean that goes without saying.
But the Question is, are the fans kicking in wenn i play aac's because they are always on as some people said or are they only starting to work when the macbook pro is under heavy load.
