Saving modifications

Having successfully transferred my first roll of photographs to iPhoto, I selected one for editing. I cropped, enhanced and changed the size of photo before pressing "Done". Although it scrolled saving, the modified picture did not show in the album or in the modified file of the iPhoto folder. I repeated editing on several photos without any success.
I then followed old Toad's advice on a similar question on saving modifications, I downloaded iPhoto Library Manager and rebuilt my Libary, I also downloaded OnyX and cleaned out the user cache.
My problem is that although the editing tools work, I have no record of the modified photo.

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. That is strange. First download and run BatChmod on the iPhoto Library folder with the settings shown here, substituting your account name for mine. You can either type in the path to the folder or just drag the folder into that field. That will assure it's not related to any access/permissions issues. Also run Disk Utility and repair disk permissions. That will assure iPhoto has the proper permissions on all of it's components.
Have you tried deleting the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist? Strange as it seems doing so has fixed a number of seemingly unrelated issues. Worth a try.
Try logging into another account on your iMac if you have one (a vanilla account, no admin privileges, no add ons, etc. is a good debugging strategy) and see if you can make edits stick in a library there. If so go back to your primary account and create a new library. Import a couple of photos and try to edit. This will try to narrow it down to the library or the account or to iPhoto itself. If you can't save edits in any of those situations I'd try a reinstall of iPhoto from the disk it came on. Reinstall, update to 6.0.4 and repair permissions again.

Not saving modifications

I can't seem to find any issues (unless someone mentioned buried in a thread somewhere) related to this... Has anyone experienced any glitches where you're working for hours in Illustrator, hit Save multiple times while working, even create a PDF with your mods, but then when you close and reopen, all the work you did is gone?
My office mate and I have witnessed this multiple times in the last few weeks (and I had it happen in InDesign at home, but it had just decided to save to a random location, thank god!), but our team lead is refusing to believe it after something was delivered to our CEO for approval that had typos in it that were corrected weeks ago (and have PDFs to prove it)...
I don't know if it's the specs on his (my office mate) computer, the fact that it was a trial of CS6 (not CC), or what... he had other buggy issues, too, but obviously this one causes the most problems!
Any feedback would be appreciated!!

The server folder is not well-organized, so until that gets remedied, he's just been saving on the hard drive of his PC.

You're right, the workflows action which allow you to modify a field value is runnable only before saving modification. Bu iI found how to do waht you want, because I'm doing it too !
You'll have to set a default value on the Owner Id field of SR and put the following value :
UserValue('<UserId>')
Don't forget to check the post default box and to logoff and login again to see it work !
For information, I added a workflow that do the same thing, but when the SR status is modified to "Closed'. I mean, the user who close the SR is for me and my organization the one who dealt with it...

TimeStamp - Add Months

Dear All,
I have the requirement to calculate an opportunity 'contract end date' as follows:
User Populates:
Contract Start Date = 01/11/2008
Contract Duration (Months) = 4
Calculation Required:
Contract End Date = 01/03/2009
Any suggestions?
A simple calculation "[<ContractStartDate>] + [<ContractDuration>]" gives me the correct result in days, i'm just not sure how to add months instead?

To do this calculation, your field Contract Duration must be a numeric field
Two things to do:
To calculate this field after creating an opportunity, use the field default value (Contract Start Date + Contract Duration).
To recalculate it after a modification of the Contract Start Date or on the Contract Duration, you'll need to create a WorkFlow rule :
Record type : Opportunity
Trigger event : Before saving modifications
Condition : [<Contract Start Date>]<>PRE('Contract Start Date') OR [<Contract Duration>]<>PRE('Contract Duration')
Action : Update value Contract End Date with value Contract Start Date + Contract Duration and overwrite existing value.

Easy way to highlight the row you are editing

How can I easily highlight the row in a report with an edit button when I click this button. If I click it I go to another page but when I come back( After saving modifications) I want the row I just edited highlighted

Hello Erwin,
First, you need to add an ID to every row in your report, so you’ll be able to manipulate it on the DOM level. Duplicate your report template, and edit the Before Each Row field to look similar to the following:

I’m using an onload event to fire the following JS function:

}The pItem parameter is the hidden item name, and the pColor is the background color I want to use.
This code assuming only one report region per page. Otherwise, you need to take different approach to setting unique IDs to your reports lines.

Service Request Owner

Hi,
It appears that the 'Owner' field on the Service Request record type is Picklist-Read Only and I am unable to set any default values. I like to set the SR Owner based on the LoginId() of the user who is creating the Service Request. When I look at the workflow Trigger Event "When new record saved" it doesnt help, as it doesnt allow any record update action associated to it.

Maintenance Plan Issue in SQL 2005

Hi All,
In SQL 2005 server maintenance plans are not active. If we execute maintenance plan manually, it will show as success but actually it is not running and history also not recording.
Server Details:
Product version: 9.00.1399.06
Product Level: RTM
Product Edition: Developer Edition
OS: Windows server 2003 with SP2, Enterprise Edition
We are able to create maintenance plans, also SQL agent jobs are running fine.
But maintenance plans are not working.
Can anyone please suggest, what will be the problem.

Sure will apply SP4 asap.
Maintenance plan created to take backups, when I right click and execute maintenance plan, it will show as success but backups are not happening, also in view history nothing is recording.
Actually no maintenance plan is working on this server.
If I modify any maintenance plan while saving modifications, it is showing bellow message. But changes are reflecting in maintenance plan
Message:
Guid should contain 32 digits with 4 dashes ( xxxxxxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxxxxxx)
Ex: Right clicked on backup maintenance plan and selected modify.
then added one more database name in backup list and while saving changes, we are getting above message.

Question about Imported AVI movies from Digital Cameras

I use a Canon "Ixus" series digital camera., the video clips on this camera are AVI (Apple OpenDML JPEG, 640 x 480, Millions).,
My problem is saving edits i do to these video clips in the in the same original format when opening them in QT, unlike photos Qt makes you save AS instead of saving modifications to the original file.
Again, if Qt does not allow you to save the edits to the clip itself but rather asks you what you want to save it as, and i can not find the same exact QT which is "AVI" (Apple OpenDML JPEG, 640 x 480, Millions)., then what is the correct format to avoid any loss in quality?
Can anyone advise?

i just have to rotate these clips, they where shot sideways.
I understand - however, video is a horizontal format; when you rotate your file 90 degrees either the 640 vertical dimension must shrink to 480 pixels which will leave black borders on each side of the image or you expand the 480 horizontal dimension of your clip to 640 pixels and you crop of the top and bottom of your image.

Attachment modifications not saving when routing document

The issue is that in some cases attachment file modification are not saved and forwarded to the next recipient when using the routing slip feature.
Here is the scenario:
A user sends an excel document as an attachment and routes to several users via the groupwise routing slip feature.
The normal and successful work flow is this:
Next user in the route recieve the email.
Opens the document (in excel) and makes some changes in the document.
They select save (not save as).
Then then click the "completed" check box to continue the routing.
The next user will receive the email and attachment and the changes will be included.
The issue is that in many cases (about 50% of the time) the attachement edits will not stick and are not included for the subsequent recipients.
I have done some experimentation and it appears to be related to how the groupwise client handles temporary files.
It looks like there are two different folders used - my documents\groupwise and user\local settings\temp\xpgrwise.
When it works it appears that "edits" are saved in the temporary files folder and then "re-attached" to the routed email.
And the temp files are deleted when the email is closed.
In the failed scenario the attachment file does not get deleted from the temporary folder (and edits are not forwarded).
It appears to me that there may be another "unknown" temp file folder someplace that is being referenced and causing the issue.
We are using groupwise 8 client by the way and I think the issue started after the version 8 upgrade.
Has anyone else experienced and/or resolved this.
Any help would be much appreciated.

After I keep the AI file open, making some modifications which I don't want to save, so I close the file and click "Don't Save".
Even though I clicked that, the file's modification time is changing.
(The modifications I made are not there, so it's not really saving but why the date is changing then?)

All I can suggest is that you open that file on the MBA and save it as a new file, then see if you can open the new one on the iMac.

The modification to pdf files are not saved in the original documents (e.g. in My Documents) but a new file is created in Download\Adobe Reader and for every saving I do a new file (e.g. -1, -2, ..) is created. Is that normal? If yes, it is really annoying.

No, it is not a read only file and I can modify it. The problem is that the modifications are not saved with the same name in the original (e.g. in My Documents) folkder but in a different one (Download\Adobe Reader) and for every saving I do a new file (e.g. -1, -2, ..) is created.

Remembering/saving in & out modifications?

Any way that it's possibly, possibly I am missing?
Situation:
Need to encode 200 videos that all different versions (let's say something like, front and end slates switched out).
But each video needs to have 4 versions -- 2 HD, one with bars and leader, one without. 2 SD versions, same deal.
So I can use in/out modifcations to chop off the bars and leader. But I have to do this for all 200 versions.
This where it would be handy to be able to also remember timecode in/out modifications, that way I could make a preset that I just have to lay on the file, OR be able to set up a watch folder to do all 4 versions, including chopping off the front and end of the video for the non-leadered versions.
It could be a checkmark right beside "Save Filter Settings" and "Save FTP Settings".
Any thoughts or should I just feature request? Ideas to add to it?

YES! I was quite literally about to request the same thing. I'm in the same boat every month--6 to 12 spots with slates and black at the end that I need to trim out for various export purposes. Changing the Source Range from Entire Sequence to WAB and then tweaking the WAB in and out stinks. I want those saved into the preset, since my sequences are always the same length.

File modification times affected by Daylight saving changes?

After daylight time changes Dreamweaver warns me about files on the server modified since I put them last time.
So what is stored in my local computer and the server date's are off by one hour.
At first I thought some hacker modified the files exactly one hour after I did to make less obvious the modification time, but that's not the case.
It doesn't happen one hour after, nor a whole month. It always happened with old files, and now it makes sense it only happens after a daylight saving shift.
Is there any way to fix it?
Is there any time zone or similar setup I need to make?
My computer always has the correct time.
I already spoke with the host and they don't find any issue nor malicious code modifying the files. Only my IP has modified files.

Do you only work from one system?
I have at least three that I do edits and uploads from, and I see this all the time when I'm not on the machine I last uploaded from.
