Saving movies in other format than .mov....is this possible?

I'm fairly new to the mac scene and I my computer. I was wondering if someone could tell me how to save my movies in other formats aside from the .mov format? Also, does anyone know if a website that I can download the movies to that will turn it into HTML so i can put it on other sites like, Craigslist and my websites?

I believe the plan that was announced when the Movies were introduced was to roll them out to other stores sometime in 2007 which obviously didn't happen. Presumably negotiations with the licence holders for the regions outside of the US are ongoing but no-one here on the forum (who are just users like yourself) would have any knowledge of how that is going.

That's what I was referring to when I said "as needed basis".
However, If you're talking about having 2 or more movies with chapter markers/scene selections play from the main menu this can be accomplished (by importing additional xxx.mov iMovie project files) into iDVD 4 (maybe iDVD 3 also) and then copying and pasting links from appropriate sub menues to the main menu.
Considering other factors such as time and disk space (which iDVD needs plenty of), I just can't see the advantage of exporting to full quality as a common practice (if there is no compelling reason to).
It probably has something to do with the way I edit. I edit by scenes/segments, export completed scene to DV, delete project, start new scene in new project, and so on............., bring all the scenes together in a final iMovie project, add chapter markers "Done".
This eliminates iDVD having to struggle with multiple transitions, titles, effects, audio tracks, etc. (similar to your method). However, at most I have about a 2hr/24gb iMovie project(s), if I export to Full Quality I've add an additional 24gb to my harddrive.

If you are referring to the media on the projects timeline, I agree.
If you are referring to the media from the camcorder I also agree.
I also feel my procedure maintains the same quality.

There is a bug in iMovie4 if you use the preset (which most will do) and not the expert settings, so I disagree.
Exactly what's this loss we're talking about?
We all have workflows that work best for us. As an example many individuals state they've never had a problem going from iMovie to iDVD, I on the other hand close iMovie and import the xxx.mov file into iDVD(no issues) and I guess you create a full quality DV and then import into iDVD(no issues). So hey, whatever works.

Saving voicemails to other formats on computer

Is there a way to save your voicemail on to your computer? it would be nice to have this option via itunes.

Hi Chris - Yeah, I mean RIP, I think. The CD's I import into Itunes. Is that RIPPING? Anyhow, I can't find where it's putting the music on my whole system. I did a search to find out where it was putting them, and my search came up with nothing when I used the CD's title. I looked in the old Itunes folder where they were going before we got our external drive, and the CD's aren't in there either. We've notoriously had problem with that folder, so that's why we got an external drive for our music. Also, I did find one out of four CD's that I imported into Itunes IS in my external drive folder, so what the flip is going on? I'm going to have to call the mean Hindu people at Apple, aren't I ???

When I sync my phone, I want the photos to go to Iphoto and videos to go to I movie Is this possible ?

I had around 600 gb of video in my I photo Libary. this was causing all kinds of trouble. So I searched I photo and exported all the video. I Imported it all into I movie. Clean house and all set.
Now when I import I want to just download photos to I photo. Not so easy.... I went to View selected view by Name ( kind not availible) figured that Img and MOV would seperate, I did this and imported. Well it seems that My Phone lables some video files as img and some as mov.
Any Ideas on having my phone lable photos as one thing and movies as another ??

HT1414 i have just upgraded to iOS7 and when pdating my apps some have not saved data and others have. Why would this be and how do I get the data back?

I have just upgraded to iOS7 and when I open my apps some have data saved and some (Eden, Survivalcraft) do not. My son is distraught that all his hard work has gone so does anyone know why this would be and how do I fix it please?

I want to save important files/programs on an external hard drive, delete EVERYTHING on my computer, install snow leopard, and reload everything i saved on to a clean slate. Is this possible/practical?

I was just thinking that it would be better to wipe the entire hard drive clean and reinstall some programs rather than go through and move certain things to the trash. Basically rebuild my software and file collection from the ground up, omitting what is unnecessary. Then again, I have no idea what i'm doing.
My macbook was purchased in late 2008. 2gb RAM. OS X 10.5.6. It's been going very slow lately so i decided i would look up how to improve. Snow leopard was recommended as well as changing my RAM. And so here I am.
I don't have an external hard drive so i was going to just compress all my files and save them to my emac via ethernet. would they be harmed?
also, i have alot of projects in ableton (a music recording/writing program). Would saving and transferring them be just as simple as finding the song? or are other components of a certain song saved in other locations?

You should get a Firewire connected hard drive and backup your MB's HD to it. That way, if something goes wrong during the installation, you can recover your current sytem, apps and files. After the SL install, you can use the external HD for frequent backups.

There are two types - POP and IMAP
You would need to logon to your webmail account using a browser and select the option to use IMAP forwarding - assuming that option is available.
Pop mail accounts can only access the server Inbox.
Emails are downloaded to your computer and stored in your Thunderbird Profile folder. So this type may not suit your requirements.
IMAP mail accounts offer a remote view of folders and emails stored on the server.
You subscribe to see those folders. Then Headers are downloaded and when you select to view an email, the email is downloaded to a temp cache.
Subscribed folders that are synchronised, download a copy of the folder and store it in your Thunderbird Profile. But these folders are constantly updated to reflect what is stored on the server.
So your best option would be to create IMAP mail account, subscribe to see folders on the server, but do not select to synchronise those subscribed folders.
Emails stored in your Thunderbird Profile on your computer load faster than those that have to be retrieved from the server each time.
Info on synchronising, so you can see how to enable/disable.

Share a customized Bridge CS6 or CC workspace with others on my team: Is this possible? Is there a specific file I can copy and share?

I set up a customized Bridge CS6 workspace that shows specific information team members need, and nothing else. I'd like to share it, save it as a preference, or otherwise export it so team members can have it, too. There must be a file, eh?
Otherwise, I am looking at visiting 14 workstations to set it up individually.

Which OS? In Windows 7 bridge CS6 workspaces are stored in
C:\Users\user-name\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Bridge CS6\Workspaces
You might try copying the specific workspace file to the same directory on the other systems.

Save QT edit in other formats?

Is there any way to edit a movie in QT and save it in other than
.mov format? Or must it be saved first in .mov and then converted
to abother format, such as ,avi or ,wmv?
The reason I ask is that some of my Windows using friends have
trouble playing my .mov videos, but if I convert them to say .avi files
using Visual hub or MPEGstreamclip, they always suffer a loss
of quality.

You can't save to another format, but you can export to other formats. Aside from any file differences, the main problem is that the other formats use other codecs. Windows Media video often uses the WMV9 codec, Flash video uses Sorenson Spark or On2 VP6, and so on. As part of saving to those other formats you would have to transcode the video from H.264 or whatever it is now, to the other codec. In general that also requires buying an add on to QuickTime to do that, or buying an application that does both the editing and compressing.

I was informed that I needed to use After Effects to "mask" or blurr out sections of movie clips saved in windows media format.
I have the movie clip in composition, I see the effects and presets drop box on the lower right.
How do I insert the text blocks to mask certain areas of the movie clip?

Audio to movie: in the saved movie the audio isn't treated by plug-ins

After having put some plugins on the track where there is audio region to export to the movie, I select "audio to movie" (after having selected the region). I can view the "bouncing alert box", then the "converting audio" box and then the "saving" box. But when I open the saved movie the audio isn't treated (like if no plug ins were on the track).
What I miss?

simiplicity of the 'Export audio to movie..."
function puts it at the top of the 'features that

Hopefully it will be fixed soon with an update.
It's not broken. To be sure I went and tried it myself
and it worked fine. I did not even have to set the
locators, which I thought I would have to. I just dropped
the movie on a project and went to the menu. It did bring
up some dialog box I had not seen before. Something about
adding the tracks to use. It only showed track 1 but since I
could not figure out how to add the tracks I just hit OK and
it rendered all of them. Hope you get yours back up.

Saving movie and score- audio problem

I am saving movie and score, but after I have finished doing this and then watch back the saved movie in Quicktime, the audio is sounding very muted, the bass it too heavy and the balance of the tracks is not how they play back or sound when i listen to them in Logic.
Would anyone know why this might be and how to solve it?

Hey Hangtime, give you permission to kick me in the head! I feel stupid now knowing that it is a silly user error. Here I was trying to figure out if its in the 'Details' frame.
In otherwords, 'Detail's is set to '>' and not pointing downwards.
Funny thing is, you would think there would be a scroll bar to move up and down to reveal the Movie Preview frame if the 'Details' pane is expanded in the Track Info window.
