Saving music from iphone back to my computer

My computer crashed and I lost all my music stored on my computer. How can I send the music stored on my iphone back to my computer? I'm wanting to save the music on my iphone so i can install the update on my Iphone. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

The iPhone is not meant to be a backup for your iTunes library. Hopefully you have made a backup elsewhere.
Only music that has been purchased from the iTunes store can be put back on your computer:
Open iTunes, File>Transfer Purchases from iPod.
All music not purchased from the iTunes store is unfortunately gone forever.

my computer crashed and all my music is gone. Can i put the music from iPhone back on the computer?

Yes you can. There are few ways to do this, assuming that itunes with your library doesn't work anymore.
You can try with a freeware software for Windows named
    iPhone PC Suite
Another way is to install on your iPhone an app that shares your music. I have one, it's called SongExporter.

  • Transfer itunes from iphone back to my computer

I've accidentally deleted my itunes library (which I was storing on an external hard drive). How can I transfer/recover my itunes library from my iphone back to my computer?

Anything your purchased from the iTunes store can be redownloaded on your computer.
In iTunes on your computer, go to the iTunes Store and on the main screen on the right under Quick Links select Purchased.
Any other music that you burned from CD's yourself, for example, can't be directly moved from the iPhone back to your computer.

  • Can you transfer data from iPhone back to your computer hardr drive?

Sadly, due to a computer virus, I had to wipe my computer HD clean. I've reinstalled Windows and most of my software, is there a way I can transfer my photo's from my iPhone back to my computer?
    Thanks!

Photos transferred from your computer to your iPhone via the iTunes sync process is a one way transfer process only. Photos transferred from your computer are optimized for viewing on the iPhone as part of the iTunes sync/transfer process - the original resolution of these photos is reduced, which is why transferring these photos in the opposite direction is not supported.
Since I haven't heard that a Windows virus can be included with a jpeg file, did you include the photos store on your computer's hard drive with your computer's backup along with all other important data before wiping the hard drive due to the virus?
If not, there are 3rd party paid utilities available that provide transferring these photos in the opposite direction, but the original resolution of these photos will be lost.

  • My computer crashed and was rebuilt. I tried to sync the music from ipad back to my computer but I keep getting a message that says the content on my ipad will be erased. It also says the ipad was synced to a different library.

My computer crashed and was rebuilt. I tried to sync the music from my ipad to my computer but get a message that says the content on my ipad will be erased and is synced to a different library. All the music purchased from itunes synced but I need to get the music that was not purchased on itunes. How do I do this?

You don't.  the ipad is not a backup/storage device.  it simply mirrors the selected content of your computer.  The sync is one way - computer to ipad.  The only exception is itunes purchases.
Did you fail to maintain a backup copy of your computer?
    If so, not good.
You may be able to purchase  a third party program, not supported by Apple, to get the other music.

  • UP-LOADING PHOTOS & RIPPED MUSIC FROM IPHONE BACK TO COMPUTER

My computer crashed and I lost everything, but thankfully my iPhone has all the photo's and music albums stored on file. The problem is, I can't find a way of re-installing that data back onto my computer! I have managed to re-install music I purchased on the Apple site, but there is no facility available that I can locate that allows my photo's and ripped albums to be re-installed back onto the computer.
    Please help!

That's because Apple makes no provision to do what you want. It's expected that you maintain a backup of your music, photos, and other data. The iphone is not a backup device. You can recover this data, but you will have to use third party software to do so. Bear in mind, photos synced to your phone were reduced in resolution for display on the iphones screen. There is no way to recover their original resolution if you did not make a backup of your computers data.

  • Transferring music from iPhone back to hard drive

The external hard drive with all my music on it malfunctioned, so I had to delete everything. All the albums are still on my iPhone. I'm trying to work out how to transfer all the albums back from the iPhone to the hard drive. Does anyone know how to do it? It's driving me mad!!

Usually you are able to transfer your purchased songs from a device back to your computer. This is done by right clicking on the device in iTunes and selecting transfer purchases. To get other music files, you should use a third party program which will copy your songs over. Several are available, such as Pod to PC.

  • I want to download music from Iphone 4 to my computer

I had to re-install my OS on my computer.  I had my music backed up.  After getting my PC working, I installed ITunes and added my backup folder to the library.  I seems I have music on my phone that is not in my ITunes nor on my PC.
I would to download the music from my IPhone 4 to ITunes or better to a folder on my PC.

    Hello!
The article linked below details how to go about transferring music that you've purchased (but may not be in iTunes on your computer) from your iPhone to iTunes.

  • Transferring music from iPhone to a new computer...

I spilled coffee on my computer and had to get a new one, but I hadn't backed up my iTunes... Is there any way that I can take my music from my iPhone and put it into iTunes on my new computer???

iTunes includes an option to transfer content that was purchased from the iTunes Store from an iPod or iPhone, but this is for content that was purchased from the iTunes Store only.
Without syncing, at the iTunes menu bar go to File and select Transfer Purchases From - the name of your iPhone.
The iPhone is not designed for or intended to be a backup device.

how do I transfer music from my iphone to a newly authorised computer

The iphone is not a backup device.  The music sync is one way - computer to iphone.  The only exception is itunes purchases:  File>Transfer Purchases
Copy everything from your old computer, or your backup copy of your old computer, to your new one.

  • Restoring video and music from iTouch back to iTunes computer

Hoping that somebody can help. I need to be able to restore some of the video and music files from my iTouch back to the iTunes library on my PC.
After some recent HD problems some of the music and video files on my PC got currupted. And before you ask, yes I do do backups. Problem is the copies of the files in the backup are the same as those corrupted ones.. The only valid copies of these files are on my iTouch.
I assume that I can't just simply synch the iTouch as that will simply remove the valid versions.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks.

Found the program CopyTrans...does all I need and more (use google to find it). It costs $20, but well worth it. I wouldn't have mentioned it here, if it werent't for the fact that iTunes doesn't allow you to copy media files from your ipod back to your computer.

  • How to download music from iPhone to iTunes on computer

I have been trying to download my music from my phone to my new itunes. How do I accomplish this?

Your i-device was not designed for unique storage of your media. It is not a backup device and media transfer was planned with you maintaining a master copy of your media on a computer which is itself properly backed up against loss.  To use a device with a new computer you transfer the content from the old computer (or its backup) directly to the new computer, not the device to the new computer. Syncing is one way, computer to device, updating the device content to the content on the computer, not updating or restoring content on a computer. The exception is iTunes Store purchases which can be transferred to a computer.
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1848 - only purchases from iTunes Store
For transferring other items from an i-device to a computer you will have to use third party commercial software.  See this document by turingtest2: Recovering your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device - https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3991

  • How do I move music from iPod back to my computer w/reformatted hard drive?

My computer was malfunctioning and required a reinstallation of the OS. Doing so overwrote my iTunes library. Now the only place the library exists is on my iPod. Is there any way for me to transfer the library back to my computer? Thanks.

    P.C. Instructions
Plug your iPod into your computer. Make sure that disk use is enabled. (enable it in iTunes on the main iPod screen; if you manually manage your music, then it is already enabled.) Go to my computer. First, right-click your iPod. Then, select Tools ® Folder Options. This takes you to Control Panel ® Folder Options. Select the View tab. Under "Hidden files and folders," change "Do not show hidden files and folders" to "Show hidden files and folders." Click Apply to All Folders, and now all the invisible files on your iPod will be visible.
To get to your music files, navigate to iPod_Control\Music (meaning click on the iPod drive in My Computer). There you will find a series of folders starting with a letter and ending with a number. Congratulations! You are now looking at your iPod database, where all your music files are kept. As with any other file, you can now copy your music to anywhere on your computer.
    On a MAC
    Launch the Terminal.application and type:
    find /Volumes/[iPod'sNAME]/iPod_Control/Music -print | awk '¬ { gsub(/ /, "\ "); print }'
Substitute the name of your iPod for [iPod'sNAME]. Any spaces should be replaced with underscores (_). This will print a list of all the songs inside the Music folder with \ in place of spaces. Then, simply copy the location to the song you want and type open followed by that location to begin playing that song. You can then use a standard copy command such as cp to copy any file you select to its new location. This is tedious though. To copy your entire iPod's entire Music folder to your local computer, simply open the Terminal and write:
    %ditto /Volumes/[iPod'sNAME]/iPod_Control/Music/ ~/Music/iPodTunes/
Again, substitute your iPod's name for [iPod'sNAME], using an underscore for any spaces in the name. This will copy the entire contents of your iPod's Music folder into a new folder inside your home directory's Music folder called iPodTunes.

  • Transferring music from Iphone to a new installed Itunes library

I have recently had my lap top repaired and my Itunes has had to be erased, I have reinstalled Itunes and my Itunis es music library is now empty and I did not make a back up, is there anyway I can transfer all the music from Iphone back in to my music library if  I sync it with Itunes library it is going to wipe all the music on my phone, thanks

iTunes includes an option to import iTunes content from an iPod, iPad, or iPhone that was purchased/downloaded from the iTunes store.
First you need to re-authorize your computer with your iTunes account with iTunes if you haven't already done so.
With your iPhone connected and without syncing, at the iTunes menu bar go to File > Import Purchases From > the name of your iPhone.
