Saving my edits

Hi.
I wonder why Photoshop Express Editor is not saving my edits here lately??  I still have at least 1.4 GB of free space remaining so that's not it.  I can get into the edit mode and go through the steps but then, when I click 'done' - it goes into the normal 'Saving Photo - Please Wait ...' but no further progression of the process.  In fact at this point, it's been saving for over 10 minutes.
Yes, I have clicked the X and when it returns to my library, the changes are clearly not saved.  Not that I thought it would be but I was hopeful.
Any help out there for me?

Hello, KosmosEndekatos. Photoshop Express is different from Photoshop Elements, and it has its own forum, which is hard to find. It's here:

  • Adobe Bridge saving my edited files in an 'unknown format' - Losing my work

When I edit an image in Photoshop through Adobe Bridge and save it as a jpeg, it is not saving as selected. Instead, it is saving the edited image in an 'unknown' and unusable format. I loose  my editing work. I discovered this doesn't happen if I save the image in a new folder but I would still like to fix this problem; I've been editing for two years without this issue. Has anyone else experienced this problem or know how to fix it?

Adobe Bridge does not "save", open or edit anything other than the metadata.  The files are saved by whatever application hands them  to them, whether that be Photoshop, Camera Raw, Illustrator, MS Word or whatever.
If files are being lost in just one folder, you have corruption in that particular folder.  The first step is to go to the Tools menu in Bridge, and run the "Purge Cache for Folder 'xxxxyyy'"  command.  The next step is to create a brand new folder, not inside the corrupted one, and move all your files there.
You should also run Apple's Disk Utility to Repair the Disk and to Repair Permissions for your disk.
Next time, please provide details about your setup.

  • Iphoto 11 Not saving photo edits

    Iphoto Version 9.4.3
    OSX 10.7.5, Build 11G63, Serial # W872101JVUX
    3 GB SDRAM
Have had many problems since switching to Iphoto 11, this is just the latest. This week I added 5 Jpeg photo's to a library and edited them. When I finished I returned to the library and noticed they didn't look as good as they had while editing them. I returned to editing in the info section and indeed it looked like most of the editing had not been saved. I then moved to the editing section and the photo's still looked bad but after 5 -10 seconds the edits reappeared and the photo's looked as good as I expected. I then returned to the library (saving the edits) and again they look bad. These photo's were scanned to a desktop folder then imported to an iphoto library from there as is my normal procedure. I have used all the "Rebuild Library" choices which did not help. I do not ever make any changes to the libraries except through Iphoto.
I would like to concentrate on this problem now of course, but just for your information the other main problem I have fairly often is very slow editing with spinning balls. This is usually made acceptable by spending a lot of time "Rebuilding Library". I thought about reinstalling Iphoto but 9.4.3 is no longer available through the app store where I purchased it and my computer cannot upgrade any further.
I'm almost hoping that you tell me my computer isn't adequate and this will solve my problems as at least I can stop fighting with Iphoto. I will also say that otherwise the computer works fine and I have no problems with other programs.
Thanks for any help in advance

    As a Test:
Hold down the option (or alt) key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?

  • Saving RAW edits as JPEG - is it okay if...?

Just wanted to get some expert opinion on whether saving RAW edits as JPEG is advisable.
I understand that every time you save a JPEG, there is some loss/degradation, whereas TIFF is loss less. However, given the huge size of TIFF tiles, my thinking is that saving them as JPEG is okay as long as if I want to make subsequent edits, I revert to the original (RAW) and re-do the edits.
Is there any downside to this logic?

iPhoto does not keep resaving the same JPG over and over. Instead it applies the new edits to the original file and recreates a new JPG. So no matter how many times you edit the file, you are only one generation removed from the RAW file.
iPhoto keeps tracks of your edits in a list and reapplies them when you open the file to view.

  • IPhoto not saving simple edits

I have been using this current version of iPhoto for several weeks with no problems. Yesterday, it stopped saving simple edits even after hitting the done button. For example, I would crop a photo, click done, move onto the next photo and the previous edit would just disappear. It won't save simple enhancements or more complex adjustments either.
I am using iPhoto '11, version 9.2.3. There are no further updates available. I have not added any new software to my computer. I am at a loss. Any suggestions would be welcome!

    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In Library Manager it's the FIle -> Rebuild command)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

  • Original picture changed while saving the edited one

    Hi,
I am an absolute beginner using Camera Raw.
I just edit a picture in Camera Raw 5.7. When I was finished I saved the edited picture using a new name. Unfortunatly the original picture has also changed. So now I have two identical edited pictures with different names but the original picture is gone. How can I keep the original?
    Regards, Nicole

The original image is still there...it's just had processing parameters added to the raw file. If you really don't want them you can either go into Bridge, Edit, Develop Settings and hit clear. But if you do that you will loose all the work you put into making the adjustments...you might be better off going back into Camera Raw and create a snapshot of the settings them you can reset the image to it's default settings...

saving after editing in elements 8 - this is painfully slow, including waiting through the "not responding" message, though after quick editing in organiser saving is very quick - what is the problem?

None of my pictures that I uploaded into iPhoto are in my Finder under Pictures.  Should I copy and paste my folders from iPhoto into here, in case something happens to my iPhoto program (in addition to backing them up onto an external hard drive like I already do)?
No, that's just wasting space.  A back up needs to be on a different disk.
Your photos are within the iPhoto Library.

  • PSE7 is not saving the edits I make to my pictures

I'm working in the Editor and I am saving the edits I make as a jpeg file.  I then go back to Organizer and my edits were not saved.
Any ideas why this might be happening?

Usually, File->Catalog->Repair and Optimize will fix the problem for future edits

  • How can I simplify or Automate saving Photoshop edits back to iPhoto

I am using Photoshop CS3 as my external editor for iPhoto. I am looking for a way to Automate saving the edited pictures back to iPhoto. Currently I use Command W, Click Save, in "Save As" window I change the format from Photoshop to JPEG, click Save, then click Replace, then click OK for my JPEG options window and my edited file is saved back into iPhoto. I know there must be an easier way to do this. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Have you set PS as an external editor?
You can set Photoshop (or any image editor) as an external editor in iPhoto. (Preferences -> General -> Edit Photo: Choose from the Drop Down Menu.) This way, when you double click a pic to edit in iPhoto it will open automatically in Photoshop or your Image Editor, and when you save it it's sent back to iPhoto automatically.
What format are the original files?

  • Making an unposted but saved BRS editable in FF67

    Dear All:
I have searched through SPRO and net as well but could not find any clue to my query. My query is can an unposted BRS (but saved) be made editable through back end configuration in FF67. My concern is when an end user saves  BRS in FF67 but does not post it,if he later realize that opening and closing balances are wrong and he wants to amend them but after saving he can veiw that saved BRS in dsiplay form only. Can this be made possible. Please reply if you have any solution other than accessig tables and making changes in live system.

  • Saved PS3 Edits Not Showing Up In Own Folder

    Currently running LR2.1 & CS3(PS10.0.1) & ACR4.6, Windows XP.
Just upgraded to LR 2.1 today and found that when I Edit in Photoshop and then Save the file, Lightroom no longer creates that subfolder with only the Edit.psd file in there.
Prior to this, I was able to make edits in LR, then edit in PS, then save the image. Lightroom then creates a folder (in LR) for me that contains only the edited PSD images. It was great to have that folder containing only the final edited files that have been processed thru LR + PS. I didn't even have to set that up, just came as is from 2.0.
Now that 2.1 is installed, the images are being saved but lumped together along with all the originals + unfiltered images in its original folder (like back in the LR 1.0 days).
Can anyone help or is anyone experiencing the same issue?
    Thanks!

Figured it out...Went under "File > Import > Movies" in iDVD. The movies showed up when I did that. Still don't understand why they don't show up under "Media." Everything worked beautifully after that.

  • Saving iphoto edits

I've scanned an image with a high dpi, and saved it in a jpeg fromat.  I then edited this image in iPhoto.  I've saved the image on a thumb drive to mail to a vendor for printing.  The thumbdrive image shown in the Preview window of Finder shows the image as edited.  However, when I open the file the edits disappear!  I can literally see them disappearing before my eyes when I open the file!
I need to retain these edits for the eventual printing.  Any ideas as to what I am doing wrong?

Can you tell me the best way to do this?  Usually I just go to the next photo for editing by clicking on one of the arrows in the upper right of the edit screen.
What kinds of edits/effects are you applying? Some of the effects  - crop or straighten - need the "Done" to be applied before switching to the next photo with the arrow keys.
If you export like above, your edits should take.
But if your edits do not show, when exporting "Current", then your iPhoto library may have a corruption.
Run the iPhoto Library First Aid Tools.
iPhoto 6 and later: Rebuilding the iPhoto library
    To rebuild the iPhoto library:
Quit iPhoto if it is open.
Hold down the Command and Option keys on the keyboard.
    Open iPhoto.
Keep the keys held down until you are prompted to rebuild the library.
A dialog will appear with rebuild options. Select the options you want to use.
Click Rebuild to begin the rebuild process. This may take a few minutes to complete.
Select the option to "Repair the iPhoto Library Database" to check the iPhoto Library database for inconsistencies and repair them, if necessary. iPhoto '11 also includes the option to "Rebuild the iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup," which performs the same functions as it does in iPhoto '09, but should only be attempted if the "Repair the iPhoto Library Database" option does not help.
Before you select to "Rebuild", make a backup.

  • Saving after Editing in Photoshop CS6

I have iPhoto 11 set so that all of my editing occurs in Photoshop CS6. Photos open in camera raw, I can make further edits in PS, etc. But a problem arrises when it is time to save the changes. I use the "Save" function and not "Save As". At this point the dialogue box defaults to save the .psd file. I have changed this to .jpeg. Then, when I hit save and closed PS, the edits do not appear in iPhoto. So, I tried again and didn't change the file type. Again, no edits appearing in iPhoto. I do, however, find the newly saved jpeg and .psd files in my library subdirectory (from where I've then dragged them to the desktop and then re-imported them into iPhoto).
What I've discvored, when looking at the directory to where PS is attempting to save, is that I'm working with a .CR2 file out of iPhoto. I realize this is a camera raw formatted file. So, I then attempted to save the edited file with this same name/naming convention, but PS won't allow me to do that. There is a "Photoshop Raw" file option, but nothing that says ".CR2"
So, my question is, what's the workflow solution with iPhoto 11 and Photoshop CS6 so that, when saving, my photos will appear as edited in iPhoto and retain the option to revert to the original file without having to save duplicates, etc. to the desktop and re-importing? For the record, I was always able to do this, simply, with previous versions of iPhoto and CS4. But, now that I've upgraded to both iPhoto 11 and CS6, I'm having this problem.

    Correct. Especially since iPhoto 11
iPhoto and Aperture (and Lightroom) work in much the same way. The image is never touched. When you process it your decisions are saved in the database and applied to the image as you view it live.
The thumbnail is updated. There is no "modified" file in iPhoto 11. There is a Preview - a shortcut to save you exporting for many common uses - email, uploading etc.
Raw shots present a problem. For  start, they're not really a file, just a dump of (almost) all the data from the camera sensor. If you shoot Jpeg the camera takes this data and processes it (i.e. makes editorial decisions) and saves the images as a Jpeg.
If you shoot Raw its because you want to make those editorial decisions yourself. You think that you can get better results, or ones that you prefer, by performing the same process on your computer.
So you import the Raw data to your computer and start making editorial decisions.
If you're using iPhoto (or Aperture or Lightroom) those decisions are recorded in the application's database. Want to view the Photo? Then iPhoto will show you the Raw plus your decisons. That's why it's lossless. Change your mind about something, all that's changing is the entry in the database. The original image is untouched.
Next problem... you can't do anything with a Raw. Can't print it, upload it, share it in edited form etc. To do any of these things you must have a version in the common image formats: Jpeg, Tiff etc
So, now you have a Raw, and a version that is made from that Raw.
Strictly speaking, to get that version you have to export - Basically, save this edited Raw as... something.
iPhoto (and Aperture) have a handy shortcut for this - Previews. It's a "good-enough-for-most-things" version. It saves you having to tediously export every single photo of your girlfriend's mother's cat. You can just email her the Preview.
And if you change your decisions about the Raw: the entry in the database changes and the Preview is destroyed and a new one created automatically, reflecting the new version of the shot.
(And note too: this is the case with Jpegs as well. And every version of iPhoto since iPhoto08 has used the Modified version in the same way. The modified version doesn't exist at all in iPhoto 11)
And the difference between iPhoto and Aperture or Lightroom - just more fine control over the process.
So, yes, iPhoto 11 performs true lossless editing.
    Regards
