Saving Objects in OBIEE

Hi all
Is it possible in OBIEE to save the functions(f[x]) that a user creates when he is making his reports.
The customer wants to know if it's possible once a user creates a function he can save it and used once he need it instead of editing the report and copy past the function??
An other question is about the graphs that the user creates.One of the users asked me if he can save the style of the graphs like in Excel(his custom colors),and once he want to use the same style an other time he just have to pick his saved style.

for your first question,
it's not possible to save,
but.. one thing.. is you need to save each functionality (now it becomes column) as each report and need to save it.. in one folder
Now, this request contains only that column...
whenever you want that fx you need to open that and copy paste the functionality

Saved Objects are not displayed in designer view after insert

Hi All,
My HFRS is acting weird today. I tried to insert a saved Object(text,Image) into my report. I have inserted them by (Insert>>Saved Object) but I'm unable to view them in designer view after insert. When I run the PDF Preview I'm able to see the objects on the report. Any assistance? I want to move the text object to the bottom of the report.

Saved objects are related to Financial Reporting.
Saved objects option is used to avoid the recreation of code, thus I find it valuable to turn all report header and footer information into saved objects. Items such as company logo’s, report title/sub-tile information, dimensional point-of-view selections, date & time stamps, page numbers and data source information make for great saved objects as they typically reside on all financial or management reports.
The usefulness of report objects may seem less important during the early stages of development, but as your reporting repository grows, their impact becomes increasingly important. For example, changing a company logo on a few reports is a minor incontinence, but making that same change to 50 reports could take hours to complete, resulting in the inefficient use of development/ maintenance time.

I don't have any documentation link , we need to design rpd based on BO Universe and BO reports functionality.
first observe what are the physical tables used in universe those physical tables improted into physical layer of obiee rpd give physical joins. In BMM layer design hierarchies, calculations and outerjoins all these things done in BMM layer thats it.

Saving Object Styles

I have saved Object Styles to reuse in new documents, but I don't know how I did it and can't find the "Save Object Style" command anywhere. There is such a command on Swatches. How do I add to the library of Object Styles that I have on my desktop? Thanks in advance,

Need to Remove html text in Saved PDF from OBIEE Dashboard

Hi,
It's OBIEE 10g related issue...
Customer wants a Dashboard as PDF, Dashboard has a footer which has a HTML link. While saving this Dashboard into PDF file, it has the HTML text in footer place rather than HTML link.
Can you please help me on this issue that how to resolve this.

How to Clean Unused object in OBIEE RPD.

Kindly let me How to remove unused objects like subject areas , Initialization blocks etc in OBIEE RPD.
Plz suggest me.we are using OBIEE 10g .If i use Utilities option to remove unused objects will other objects have any impact?Can i use this Utilities Option?

Problem with renaiming objects in OBIEE

I have a question for you. I use OBIEE version 10.1.3.4.
What are the cases that you have seen associated at the renaming of indicators or presentation table?
I have a indicator called "Revenue" contained in the Presentation Table "Revenue KPI".
This indicator is called in a report.
What happens to the report if I rename the indicator or move the indicator in another Presentation Table or rename the Presentation Table?
Alias always works?
Do you have tips on how to maintain consistency between what is in the presentation of the RPD and what is used in reporting and Dashboard?
when I change the name to a report included in a dasbhoard the dashboard does not recognize the new name.
Have suggestions?

I'll reply at my best. Hope this helps you.
What happens to the report if I rename the indicator An alias will be created in the RPD.
So, when you use 'X' in report.
Now whey you modify 'X' to 'Y'. An alias 'X' will be created for 'Y'.
When in a report, you access 'X', this will be routed to 'Y' by the BI Server because of aliasing.
move the indicator in another Presentation Table or rename the Presentation Table?
Alias always works?When you move the columns, aliases will not be created.
When you rename a Presentation Table, aliases will be created. (after all this is also a presentation layer object)
Aliases always works.
But it does not work in few spl cases.
Let me explain this.
1. A prompt is created for 'X'
2. 'X' is in criteria and 'is prompted' filter applied on 'X'
3. renamed 'X' -> 'Y'. so, now an alias 'X' is created for 'Y'
4. But, still the report and prompt works fine.
5. Now, replace the 'X' in criteria to 'Y' .
6. Still the prompt and the report shows up the same data. But, you can't get 'Y' is prompted.
7. This is not due to aliases of course. But due to the prompt behavior which just matches the string(col formula) in 'is prompted' filter. But this match condition now fails.
Finally,
Aliases works in all cases, except in very few cases like above one.
Do you have tips on how to maintain consistency between what is in the presentation of the RPD and what is used in reporting and Dashboard?Simple. Make sure of the correctness of all the presentation layer objects.

Saving object to session

I've noticed that with the following code, the result would be "1234" even though I did not save the object back to the session after I modified one of the object's properties.
Object obj = new Object();
obj.setName("abcd");
session.setAttribute("TEST", obj);
obj.setName("1234");
obj = (Object)session.getAttribute("TEST");
out.println(obj.getName());
If however, I retrieve an object already in the session like:
Object obj = (Object)session.getAttribute("TEST");
obj.setName("xyz");
and later print out it's name property, sometimes it's updated with "xyz".
out.println(obj.getName());
Can anyone explain how saving something to the session works? Any ideas why I might be getting these results?

Therefore, if I have an object already stored in the session with a property Name set to "abc" and I do the following in servlet A,
Object obj = (Object)session.getAttribute("TEST");
obj.setName("xyz");
without saving obj back to the session and I call another servlet B which does
Object obj = (Object)session.getAttribute("TEST");
out.println(obj.getName());
I should always get the value "xyz"?

Transport Request - saving objects in workbench request

Output of my Report is ALV. In that I have One button in the application toolbar and I have checkbox as a column to select the displayed entries. If I select that button the selected entry( in my case 'Role') has to be saved under a customizing request'.
    In my case it is saving the object under 'WORKBENCH Request'.
Is there any Function module to do this .
    I have used 'TR_REQUEST_CHOICE' fn module to get that create request pop up screen and for appending entries I have used 'TRINT_APPEND_TO_COMM_ARRAYS'.(IT is saving the object under WORKBENCH ReQUEST, But I need it in CUSTOMIZING REQUEST)

The mass transport function in the profilgenerator (PFCD) is executed using report <b>PFCG_MASS_TRANSPORT.</b>
For a single role you could directly use function module
CALL FUNCTION 'PRGN_TREE_HANDLE_UCOMM_NAVIGAT'
    EXPORTING
      okcode             =' TRAN'                  " transport role
      agr_name_neu       = <name of role>.
Since you would like to put multiple roles into a single transport request you can do the following:
SUBMIT pfcg_mass_transport
        with agr_name ... = <list of roles as range>
        with comp_rol ...   = <with or without composite roles>
        with profiles ...      = <with or without profiles>
AND RETURN.

Saving object to collection

I'm in the new to java section for a reason...
I have a treeMap collection I would like to save a 'vechicle record' object to...
Can someone tell me if I am doing it right. I have an assignment, please read on.
In all the books I've read, saving an object goes something like:
Map dbase = new TreeMap();
dbase.put("11252AD", new Employee("11252AD", "Joe Bloggs"));Notice at the time the object is put into Collection is the time where new is used AND is in the same class.
In my assignment requirements, it has an example screen shot of what my tester class should look like... In the code following, notice that its the TESTER class now creates the new object, and passes it as an ARGUMENT to the Store method in my VehicleDB class.
The VehicleDB class is where I am to implement a TreeSet.
The problem is that instead of dealing with Strings directly like above and saving them... I am now using an object reference to get them.
And also, I am saying new to VehicleRecord twice. Once in the tester class and the other in the VehicleDB
Is this how its done or is there another way?
Can I just save the object reference in the Collection and somehow get all the strings back later?
I hope this makes sence, forgive me if it doesn't, not that good at explaining things.

Not sure if I understood ... but there was something strange in your
code. Everytime you call the DB.store(), you create a new TreeMap object.
When you create a new Object of some type ... ex VehicleRecord, you
get a reference to that object .. so you work with that reference, you can
pass it around in methods and you dont need to create a new object every time you use it.
If you create a VehicleRecord in Tester, you pass its reference to
DB.store() ...
Haven't tested this ... so Im not sure if it works, you have to talk with
teachers and classmates about your assignment.

SYS views for saved objects before activation

I have a calculation view that I am signficantly modifying which has almost 800 columns using SAP HANA Studio. I wish to be able to compare the visible columns (Sematics layer columns) with the previous version (which I have a saved copy) but don't want to activate it until I have verified that my changes are correct.
My plan is that I would like to use SYS.VIEW_COLUMNS view to get the columns lists to compare, but this (as far as I understand it) only uses the metadata from the activated objects. Ideally, I could use this view to list the columns of my modified (and saved) but not yet activated.
Let me know what questions you have to clarify my situation. As well as if this is even possible.

Yeah, that is probably a workable solution.
My preference would be to be able to have more control with a SQL statement, if it is available and then compare the results with Beyond Compare.
One of the things I'm concerned about is the order of the many columns may change. I could sort the columns by name in the SQL to make sure I have them all. That would require a couple more steps with the XML. I have to repeat this with about 8 other similar CVs.
As well, the XML has information I don't care about.
But I do understand that beggars can't be choosers...

Saving object for web - pixelated & distorted

Trying to save an image for web in Illustrator. It's a "browse" icon that we use for our product. We're recreating the icons to look more "flat" with the outline state as the inactive and the fill state as the active. Here's what I get when I export it for the web as a .png.

I've tried to optimize, not optimize, flatten transparency, rasterize -- none of it's worked to make this icon look any better. The only thing that came somewhat close was flatten transparency -- that helped with the pixelation but the boxes all became distorted. Please help!

Image at normal size using preview is the most helpful piece of information. Would be good to knwo your exact pixel dimensions.
Did you use align to pixel grid? Try saving as .gif. This is as good as you can get with such a small size.
