Saving panoramic with photomerge Elements 9
after saving my panoramic the file format is not compatible with Lightroom or any other photosoftware, please help!!!
I wonder if the pixel dimemsions of the panorama are just to big to import into lightroom.
Do you get some kind of message in the other applications?
Did you look at the get info on your mac to see if the file is indeed the file type you saved to?
For example if you save a tif does the get info say it's a tif file?
Are you able to close the file and reopen it in photoshop elements?
I don't know about i photo, but lightroom should be able import tifs and jpegs.
What are the pixel dimensions of the pano?

Multi-Row panorama with Photomerge ...
Hi,
does somebody has experiences with stitching multi-row panoramas with CS4's photomerge?
I always ended up with a very strange viewpoint somewhere into the sky instead of a straight horizont. It's somehow understandable - where should Photomerge know the horizont and the desired viewpoint from.
So, are there any tutorials or hints how to create multi row panoramas with Photomerge - I searched a lot but didn't find any usable. Or do I have to use another tool like PTGui?
Thanks a lot
KonradYes, the first row are image in the orthognal plane around the vertical axis. Stitching them together result in a normal horizontal 360 pano.
But I've a second row above the first one from the upper parts of the sourrounding. And using Photomerge they are not merged together in a way that places the first row in front of the horizont is still the same as for the first row - what's clear, because PS does known nothing about those semantics. -
How to run photomerge panorama in ps elements 10
When starting photomerge-panorama in ps elements 10 the program shuts down itself with the notification that is does not work anymore. All other photomerge functions however are working fine.
What to do?Hi,
The version of Camera Raw that you reported should support the S100 CR2 images.
If you load the editor, go to the File menu and select Open, then point to the file, are you saying that it displays the error message?
Have you tried opening the file with Canon's Zoombrowser?
Which operating system are you running on?

Problem with Photomerge Exposure, Photoshop Elements 13?
Problem with Photomerge Exposure, Photoshop Elements 13?. Why does Photomerge Exposure not give me a finished DONE photo. If I open 2 photos, it will merge then, and when I press DONE I get a new photo file that I can save. However, if I open 3 photos, and go through the same process, the software analyzes the photos, I get a new image, BUT when I press DONE, the new image vanishes???? I can open the same 3 photos in Elements 8 and it works fine. any ideas please.
I, too, am having problems in version 11 with Photomerge Exposure. I can merge the 3 photos successfully with version 10. In version 11 when I click done, I am taken back to the Expert mode of the Editor but the merged photo in the photo bin is not accessible. When I first return to the editor, one of the original images (before merge) is selected. When I double/click on the merged photo it doesn't become the active image. In fact, any image I double click on momentarily becomes the active image and then jumps to another one.
The merged photo is visible in the photo bin but I can't select it.
I am running version 11 on my MacBook running OS 10.6.8

Need help with PhotoMerge Panorama
Can someone help me with PhotoMerge Panorama in PE 13? I upgraded from version 6 and now cannot adjoin separate images into one image. Every time I try I get this message: "Panorama could not be created as some images could not be automatically aligned". In version 6 it would allow me to position the files together manually if the program couldn't figure how to do it automatically, but that feature doesn't seem to be available in version 13. Thanks for any help.
I think i saw the link about interactive layout missing:
http://forums.adobe.com/message/6011038
So maybe i should try lower version of PSE... i hope it is available.
To mytaxsite:
Thanks for your reply... maybe the link you gave is referenced to another PSE version...
About the suggested blank canvas... maybe I could try... but this involves many images which is hard to do when switching between windows.... but i'll give it a shot. -
PROBLEM WITH PHOTOMERGE PANORAMA IN PSE 12
whenever I try to use photomerge panorama in photoshop elements , i get an error message :Error 48: File or folder does not exist. line :41. i have been trying for few days after retsarting my laptop and also updating the PSE 12
This means that the photomerege function is having difficulty reading the required scripts to run. Have you made any changes to PSE or installed any add-on's that may have affected the presets?
I think the best thing to do is to uninstall Elements and then re-install again. -
With Premiere Elements 11, when Publish/Share (saving) a finished video, selecting H.264 .mov file type, what are the recommended Aspect and Codec settings , for a crisp video with a small file size?
Gary Krouse
We will customize a very detailed reply, but
(a) What are the properties of your source media?
(b) What did you or the program set as the project preset to match the properties of the source media?
(c) What specific requirements do you have for this H.264.mov export file?
File size can be a compromise between bitrate, file size, and quality.
Thanks.

I followed your directions and closed all open files including "spySweeper" and "Norton". I went to "run" and entered %appdata% and
deleted "Adobe" NOTE: there was another file titled AdobeUM which I did not delete. I opened Adobe Elements and went to File->New
->Photomerge Panorama and immediately
got
Error 1: Unable to create Window
-Internal error.
Line: 364
-> var w = new Window(res);
I tried this several times from both the edit screen and the screen that shows the individual images and always got the same results

I have tried your suggested solution several times and it does not work......fortunately I have found another product that does work
and have moved on to it. I would like to know what is causing the problem particularly since a "lot" of other users are reporting
the same problem on the Internet.

Hello John,
Thank you for contacting Adobe® Web Support for assistance with Adobe
Photoshop® Elements 7.0.
I received your images and was able to reproduce your problem on my
machine several times and also triggered the same error even after
resaving the images using the "Save for Web" function.
Interestingly, after deleting the program's preferences, I was able to
use Photomerge successfully on your images and could not reproduce the
error.
Try the following and see if these steps fix the issue for you as well:
1. Close all open programs.
2. Click on Start > Run.
3. In the run dialog field, type: "%appdata%" [without the quotes].
4. Delete the Adobe folder shown there (this will delete all Adobe
software preferences and settings).
5. Close the window.
6. Launch Photoshop Elements Editor and try using the Photomerge command
on your images again.
The files are being forwarded to our engineers to see if they can
isolate why these images may corrupt or damage Photoshop Elements'
preferences and settings.
I hope this information helps to resolve your issue. If you require
further assistance with this issue, please update your web case with
complete details, including what steps you have applied and any error
messages you are receiving.

I can't believe with as many people as are having this problem that Adobe had not developed a solution and released it as a "bug" fi

Hello John,
Thank you for contacting Adobe® Web Support for assistance with Adobe
Photoshop® Elements 7.0.
I understand that when you attempt to use the Photomerge feature in
Photoshop Elements that you immediately get the errors:
Error 1: Unable to create Window
- OS error:[1400]
Line: 364
-> var w = new Window(res);
We have seen customer reports of this error and have the matter under
investigation.
Currently, it has been determined to be image specific and isolated to
problems processing the metadata in some images.
Our software engineers have been unable to isolate the exact issue with
these problematic images' metadata and have requested that people who
have images exhibiting this behavior be asked to upload them via the
Adobe Support Portal so that they can be examined.
Fortunately, we also do have a potential workaround that may allow you
to merge your images.
Try the following:
1. Open your images in Photoshop Elements Editor.
2. Save each one using the "Save for Web" command available in the File
menu in JPG format with the quality set to "High".
[This will remove all metadata from the images]
3. Close Photoshop Elements Editor and all open images.
4. Open the images that you just removed the metadata from using "Save
for Web" and use Photomerge on them.
I hope this information helps to resolve your issue. If you require
further assistance with this issue, please update your web case with
complete details, including what steps you have applied and any error
messages you are receiving.
You may also call Technical Support at (800) 642-3623. We are available

Hello John,
Thank you for contacting Adobe® Web Support for assistance with Adobe
Photoshop® Elements 7.0.
I understand that when you try to use the Panorama function in Elements,
you receive a message “unable to create window.”
Does this problem happen when you are trying to merge specific images or
does it happen with all images?
What size are the images you are trying to merge? What dimensions, dots
per inch, and file type are the images?
How many images are you trying to merge? Do you have the same problem
if you try merging just two images?
Make sure when you are going to do the photomerge that any extra
programs are closed. The merging process is rather memory intensive so
the less programs running at once, the better.
Try to resize each of the photos to a smaller size, and then retry the
command.
If you receive the error when saving a panorama, try flattening the file
(use the Layer>Flatten Image command), or save the panorama in the
smaller, JPEG format.
I hope this information helps to resolve your issue. If you require
further assistance with this issue, please update your web case with
complete details, including what steps you have applied and any error
messages you are receiving.

Has it ever worked? If so, what's changed? (provide comments in description field): Yes
Same results with different file?: Yes
Same results with different computer?: Not Applicable
Recent System Hardware or Software change?: NoI have recently started having this problem in PSE8. The Adobe workaround
did work, but I don't fancy having to re register each time I use it.
What I have discovered is that it's nothing to do with the image metadata as it occurs before any image is opened.
It SEEMS to only occur if you use file/open with to open an image in the editor - IE start PSE with that command.
If you close elements down, and start it using programs/PSE/Elements (or your desktop shortcut) - the panorama feature magically works.
Each time I've opened the editor 'automatically' using image/open with, it seems to create the problem.
Hope this helps -
Problems with Photomerge in CS4
I'm using Photoshop on Vista 32. When I try to do a photomerge either from PS or Bridge, it does its stuff, then closes everything immediately. Reboots / changed options make no difference. Any ideas?
ME TOO.
PhotoMerge appears to have been broken in the move to CS4.
Whilst I am glad that PhotoMerge in CS4 is working for SOME, on my two main, quite different, XPP/3/32bit systems (one with supported 3D card, one without) I have been unable to get CS4 to create ANY panoramas.
In CS4, as shipped in the 'Master Collection', attempting to merge only two images that, on the same systems [right now, TODAY!] are merged by CS3 (and ptGUI, and APP) results only in a series of processing msgs during which a file named something like "unnamed_panorama1" appears as a tab. When processing stops, that tab vanishes. Sadly, no trace of this file is seen in the recent file list, nor anywhere on the hard-drive.
Yes, Default Photomerge entries are being used (as well as all possible combinations of geo-correct, vig-removal, various projections etc).
Repeating this merge attempt with 'tab view' disabled results in the same sequence (only the evanescent image is a free floating one).
Initially, my thought was that this was because I had not yet 'activated' CS4. Sadly, 'activation' produced no change: Images are energetically being processed, but the final result disappears.
Copying the 'manually align' option from CS3 into CS4 results, at the end of various processing messages, in an ErrMsg popping up saying that "CS4 was unable to automatically align 'some' images.
Um, there were only two images, and was not the point of selecting 'manually align' images to MANUALLY align images?
CS4 then displays a completely transparent "untitled_Panorama1" image and LOCKS.
Random clicking on the interface produced a "This program has ..." error (I saved the error dump, if anyone from Adobe is interested) and died.
To re-iterate, I have yet to be able to create the simplest two-image panorama with CS4 on two, quite different, XPP/3 systems.
This failure is with images that CS3 has no trouble with on these same systems, at the same time as CS4 fails.
Something is clearly wrong here. -
Problems with Premier Elements 7 Opening Earlier Projects
I have used Premier Elements 3 to create many 15-60 minute videos, most built from Photoshop Elements slide shows imported into Premier, and most with DVD output designed. After installing Version 7, I attempted to open these projects which it is supposed to do. A minority will open fine. The balance either cause the error "The project cannot be loaded - it may be damaged or contain outdated elements".
Does anyone else have these types of problems? I have tried all of the various methods outlined in the KB, like deleting preferences, etc., removing and re-installing, booting with nothing else loaded, etc. Nothing has any impact. I have talked to Adobe support and they are clueless and just walk me through the usual install/uninstall, etc. can anyone help? I have an enormous investment in time in these 3.0 videos and I bought Version 7 to upgrade and now it does not work! Thanks.Just a thought....
How are you opening the Premiere Elements 3 project in Premiere Elements 7?
According to the Adobe party line Premiere Elements 7 PDF, you can open projects created in earlier versions of Premiere Elements in Premiere Elements 7, but you cannot open projects created in Premiere Elements 7 in earlier versions.
Do you have Premiere Elements 3 and 7 on the same computer at this time?
The Adobe suggestions is, if problems in this regard and instead of right clicking the project file in its saved location, then:
1. open the project from with Premiere Elements 7
or
2. right click the project file in its saved location and name Premiere Elements 7 as the Open With program
Check it out to see if I have interpreted this info correctly

Can't I use my Scanner with the Elements 10 editor without the organizer??
I have been using Photoshop Elements for a looong time to help me create the product images I need for my online business. It's been a love-love relationship... until I took advantage of a special offer and bought Elements 10. Now it seems the only way I can scan images is thru the Organizer.... and the organizer is something I don't need.
Is there a way to scan my images thru the Editor only... and completely bypass the organizer (as I'm able to do with my older version of Elements)? Like a twain plugin I can install or something?
I may scan 10 images and decide to use only 3 of them... and those are the only ones I save.
With the way PSE10 is set up using the Organizer to scan, it's saving all 10 of them. Not to mention the extra steps of scanning thru the Organizer... (which means that pop-up window for my scanner every time), back over to the editor to pull the images in for editing, back to my files to delete the ones the organizer saved that I don't want... etc etc etc.
It's like 5-6 extra steps altogether and a huge time-sink for me (you know the old saying... time is money).
If there's no way to bypass the Organizer for scanning.... can I get a refund on my purchase? My older version of Elements works beautifully for me... I was just hoping for more sophisticated image editing capabilities.
VERY frustrated right now.Thank you very much for your explanation which I fully understand. Since a "fix", as you say, is not a solution might it not be a good idea to alert purchasers of the latest editions of Elements that they have an option to try this alteration to the installation in order to be able to import images from a scanner? (My own experience with versions prior to 9 always worked perfectly!) I do not know but does Photoshop CS5 allow the user to import images from a scanner or does the user have to use a similar solution to what applies to Photoshop Elements? I find Elements to be a very good app and am sure it is a good selling product for Adobe for amateur/semi-pro users that the alternative that I suggest may be a useful tool for existing or new users who want or need the capability to import from a scanner rather than having to go through other more difficulty and time consuming ways of doing the same task. Kindest regards and with my best intentions.

It's not a "fix", exactly. The TWAIN plug-in causes a lot of crashing in PSE so in the past couple of versions adobe makes you install it if you want it.

IPhoto With Adobe Elements Or CS4
I'm trying to use iPhoto with Adobe Elements (and/or CS4) as my default editor.
I have the files in RAW / NEF format and I click to edit in external editor.
My goal is to save the changes I've made back into iPhoto (overwriting my old version) without saving it as an external file and reimporting it in.
I read on an IPhoto site this;
1 - select Photoshop as your editor of choice in iPhoto's General Preference Section's under the "Edit photo:" menu.
2 - double click on the thumbnail in iPhoto to open it in Photoshop. When you're finished editing click on the Save button. If you immediately get the JPEG Options window make your selection (Baseline standard seems to be the most compatible jpeg format) and click on the OK button. Your done.
3 - however, if you get the navigation window that indicates that PS wants to save it as a PS formatted file. You'll need to either select JPEG from the menu and save (top image) or click on the desktop in the Navigation window (bottom image) and save it to the desktop for importing as a new photo.
This method will let iPhoto know that the photo has been editied and will update the thumbnail file to reflect the edit..
Unfortunately, this doesn't seem to work.
When I save the file, it saves a JPEG version in the iPhoto directory, but it doesn't show up when I go back to iPhoto. I'm also wondering why I can't save it back as a NEF file (shouldn't I do that since it's a RAW image to start)?
What's the proper way to work with iPhoto and Photoshop?
I know there are purists that seem to push to use Bridge, but i've grown to like iPhoto's features, tagging, etc. How can I do this?
Thanks..This might be of some help:
Using Photoshop (or Photoshop Elements) as Your Editor of Choice in iPhoto.
Your done.
3 - however, if you get the navigation window
that indicates that PS wants to save it as a PS formatted file. You'll need to either select JPEG from the menu and save (top image) or click on the desktop in the Navigation window (bottom image) and save it to the desktop for importing as a new photo.
This method will let iPhoto know that the photo has been editied and will update the thumbnail file to reflect the edit..
NOTE: With Photoshop Elements 9 the Saving File preferences should be configured as shown:
I also suggest the Maximize PSD File Compatabilty be set to Always.
In PSE’s General preference pane set the Color Picker to Apple as shown:
NOTE: If you want to use both iPhoto's editing mode and PS without having to go back and forth to the Preference pane, once you've selected PS as your editor of choice, reset the Preferences back to "Open in main window". That will let you either edit in iPhoto (double click on the thumbnail) or in PS (Control-click on the thumbnail and seledt "Edit in external editor" in the Contextual menu). This way you get the best of both worlds.

Iphoto Editing with Photoshop Elements 9
I am going into Iphoto, clicking the Edit button and it brings up Photoshop Elements 9. I make changes, they
look OK so I save it. When I get back to IPhoto, it looks like the change has been made. However when I go
back later in the day and click on the updated photo and there is a triangle with an exclamation point in the middle.
This means it can't find the original. They're all located in Iphoto, what is happening? Why does it look like the changes
are make and then I can't find them?I do use a Mac, so I don¹t think versions is an issue. I would rather
pictures edited in PSE, which began life in iPhoto, should always be saved
back to iPhoto, as they were in Elements 8. That is not happening. Neither
do I know where to find pictures that PSE has saved.

If you see the save as dialog you don't have your saving files preference set
correctly. To make versions, you must set it to Save over Original.
However, note that there is a big ol' bug in the mac version that if you even
open that particular preference window (even if you don't change anything
there) PSE will no longer add file extensions when you save. When using PSE as
external editor it doesn't matter so much, but if you ever save to the desktop
you will need to add the file extension manually to the saved file.

Can I link iPhoto with Photoshop Elements Editor?
The new AppStore PSE Editor doesn't seem to link with iPhoto like the full version
If you're referring to iPhoto on your Mac:
Using Photoshop or Photoshop Elements as Your Editor of Choice in iPhoto.

2 - double click on the thumbnail in iPhoto to open it in Photoshop. When you're finished editing click on the Save button. If you immediately get the JPEG Options window make your selection (Baseline standard seems to be the most compatible jpeg format) and click on the OK button. Your done.

NOTE: With Photoshop Elements the Saving File preferences should be configured as shown:
I also suggest the Maximize PSD File Compatabilty be set to Always. In PSE’s General preference pane set the Color Picker to Apple as shown:
Note 1: screenshots are from PSE 10
Note: to switch between iPhoto and PS or PSE as the editor of choice Control (right)-click on the thumbnail and select either Edit in iPhoto or Edit in External Editor from the contextual menu. If you use iPhoto to edit more than PSE re-select iPhoto in the iPhoto General preference pane. Then iPhoto will be the default editor and you can use the contextual menu to select PSE for your editor when desired.
Be sure to select the correct item in the Adobe Photoshop Elements folder as the external editor in iPhoto:
