Saving pdfs on an iPhone

Does anyone know how to save pdf mail attachments to the iPhone so they can be opened outside of Mail?

App in the App Store called "Air Share"
It lets you copy files of most descriptions (.pdf .doc .exl etc...) to an IP address that you initially set up on your Laptop/PC. Turn the App on on your iPhone and the .pdf file(s) will show up on screen and it/they will actually save to the memory on your iPhone.
Brilliant App - I have a few older copies of Creative Review Magazine .pdf files (25MB each) and I can open and view the 50+ pages in each .pdf file.

  • Saving PDF on computer to read offline on iPhone

Is there a way to save a PDF on my computer so that I can read it offline on my iPhone? Often I am someplace with no phone or wifi service, and I want to be able to read PDFs that I have saved. Dropbox requires a connection to either cell or wifi. Ideas?

Thank you for your quick reply. When I am home, I have wifi and also a cable, so getting the pdf to the phone isn't the issue. It's seeing the pdf when the phone is, say, in Airplane Mode or otherwise without cell or wifi.
I have saved pdfs to iBooks, but they don't seem to show up on the phone. And the ones that are on the phone don't seem to show up in iBooks on my Mac. I have all the sync settings on, but can't make the two talk to each other.
    Ideas?
You're a pal to engage on this.

How can i get a pdf from my iPhone to my new macbook? I keep trying to sync but it says it will delete all the books/pdfs on my phone. I don't have this pdf on my computer and don't want to lose it. I am using the same iTunes account. Any suggestions?

    Hello ashlyn888,
Based on your post it sounds like you would like to sync your iBooks content with your computer. I have located an article that may help you in this situation. While you can sync this data with your computer you can also use the sharing button to send PDFs using various sources:

  • Loading pdf file from iPhone Documents folder into a UIWebView

I'm currently trying to include the ability for my App to download a "pdf" file from the web,... display the image in a UIWebView,.. save it to the iPhone,... and later redisplay it in the same UIWebView while "off line". I've been able to do everything but get the web view to load/display the stored pdf file. The App finds the .pdf file...
Here's the path it finds in the Simulator...
    Image File Path: /Users/FCR/Library/Application Support/iPhone Simulator/User/Applications/8E29ACDF-4A56-4AC2-BFA0-C4F8E00E1481/Documents/AD_K EWR.pdf
... but I'm not much into html and can't seem to come up with a url scheme to load the image. I've tried several attempts using the URL... "file:///" ... but so far haven't been able to get the file (which is in the iPhone's Documents folder) to display. I seem to be about one line short of a workable solution.
Can anyone offer a bit of code (help) to accomplish this seemingly easy task of displaying it in the UIWebView?... It would be much appreciated!

Can you please post the code snippet used to download and save the PDF to the iPhone? I did not know you could do that.

Ed,... Here's the code ... I've cut and pasted from a couple different routines, but you should get the point...

  • Interactive PDF on an iPhone/iPad?

Hi folks...I'm supposed to create an "interactive presentation" for work so I created a document in InDesign and used a lot of buttons to go back and forth between pages, video files for page dividers and a lot of rollovers. I saved the file as a PDF and it works perfectly fine using Acrobat on a mac or pc...all rollovers intact. The boss wants people to be able to view the same PDF on an iPhone and iPad.
Is this even possible? I got a couple PDF apps for my iPhone to test it out and none of the rollovers worked, the movies didn't play and some images ended up going missing. The boss is telling me to find a way to get this to work on them but I don't think there is...at least not with my skillset.
I need to give her reasons why it's NOT working...any ideas? Is there some applicationsn better suited to have it work on the web and iDevices?

Thanks guys. Any ideas what type of software is required to create "interactive" files for the iDevice? Kinda like what Loud Crow did with the Peter Rabbit book where you can pull tabs, flip pages and all that...I'm assuming that's way outta my job expertise.

  • Have saved pdf files to creative cloud but ipad cannot see any files

I have saved pdf files from my Windows desktop to the Creative Cloud. They are visible there when accessed from my desktop. However when logging onto the Creative Cloud on either my iPad or iPhone it says there are "no documents to display".

I hope you're referring to the iWork program Pages for Macs since that is the forum you posted in. If you want to view Pages documents on your iPad, you'll also need to get Pages for iOS from the iTunes App Store. While you're doing that, also download the free iBooks app. There are other PDF readers, but I use iBooks.
You can use iTunes to sync documents between your Mac & your iPad. For PDFs you use File > Add to Library & they will appear under "Books." For Pages documents, you can use the File Sharing section of iTunes like in the screenshot below. You can also use iCloud.com to upload from your Mac but you will need to have your iPad connected to the internet to transfer the files from the cloud to the iPad.

  • Saving PDF to last folder

I have Adobe Reader X 10.0.0, PDF Version 1.4 (Acrobat 5.x). I have been saving PDF's for years, and each time I save, it goes to the last folder I saved to? The other day, I had approximately 15 PDF's that had been scanned to me, and after I had saved 5 of these documents normally, it then started going straight to a temporary folder, and has done ever since, which means I have to go through all the folders to get the one I desire? I have spoken to our I.T. department and they believe its a problem with PDF and not with our system, and I believe otherwise. I can use Recent Places, but when you have done the same thing for years, and the amount I do, change is not always good
Has anyone encountered the same problem, and can help?

    Hi Kat,
This is a bit geeky, but the signature appearance that you see on the page is not the signature, but just a graphical representation of the actual signature. The actual signature is a blob of hex encoded data in the PDF file that you don't really see. That aside...
When you create a digital signature the first thing Acrobat/Reader will ask you to do is select a digital ID to sign with. Acrobat then reads the digital ID and amasses some information to use to create the signature appearance. It then fills in the form field (a signature field is just a special use form field) with the appearance, BUT the signature still hasn't been created. The next thing Acrobat does is asks you to Save the file to disk. This is more geekiness, but it much safer to compute the signature byte range on disk then it is in memory. The simple explanation is it's harder for the bad guys to manipulate the bytes on disk then it is for them to control the bytes in memory and because a digital signature provides document security we err on the safe side and require the file to be written to disk before the signature is created. The other safety item is, we want to sign the signature appearance so that someone can't come along later and modify the appearance without breaking the signature, so it (the appearance) has to be created before the signature proper is created.
So at this point you've seen the signature appearance and thought that the signature has been created, but it hasn't. When you try to save to the network folder something is preventing Acrobat from saving the file and what ends up happening is the file is rolled back to the pre-signature state and the signature appearance is removed. The file is in essence untouched.
All of that aside (which is probably more than you really wanted to know) the real question is why can't the file be saved to the network folder. This isn't really a digital signature issue, but rather a network permissions issue.

  • I saw the responses on the page to opening and saving pdfs but it is cumbersome to shut down the function in Mozilla and work around it. Is there a fix coming?

Until the Firefox 23 update I had no difficulty opening or saving pdfs in Firefox, but since the most recent update (Firefox 23) I often get error messages about damaged files when I use the download button and try to open or save files. I've checked with another browser and they open or save fine. I've tried disabling the pdf but it is cumbersome. I am using MSWord 7 if that makes any difference. Is there a fix coming for this?

    Hello,
In order to change the default reader for PDF files (to not open PDF files with Firefox's internal PDF reader), follow these steps:
#Go to ''Tools'' > ''Options'' (or ''Firefox'' > ''Options'').
#In the Options window, select the ''Applications'' tab.
#In the ''Search'' field, type ''PDF''. You should find ''Portable Document Format (PDF)''.
#On the right handside you should find an ''Action'' column. Use that to select Adobe Reader Plugin for Netscape (or something similar). Did this fix your problems? Please report back to us!
    Thank you.

  • HT1296 how can I sync my pdfs between  2 iphones ?

hi, I am trying to sync my PDFs from one iphone to another. iCloud does not have a option for this (that I can see ) will iTunes do it ?

You can deactivate the camera notification:
iOS: Disabling digital camera notification in Windows
After that iTunes should recognize your device. If not, follow this article to troubleshoot your problem:

The iphone is not a storage/backup device.  The picture sycn is one way - computer to iphone.  The photos are also reduced in size when synced to iphone so they are not of the original quality
It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup of your computer.
Have you failed to do this?
If so, not good at all, you can e-mail the pics to yourself - keep in mind they will never be of the original quality

  • Problem Saving PDF with Opacity Masks in Illustrator CS3

I'm having trouble exporting an Illlustrator CS3 file to PDF. I have two layers in the the .ai file that have opacity masks applied. When I save the file as a PDF, the two layers with opacity masks seem to disappear (or they are flattened down to white/100% transparency.) They do not show on screen nor when printing. I've tried opening the saved PDF in Illustrator to investigate, and the layers are still there, but with no opacity mask. Where am I going wrong? I've tried a new file with a simple shape and a simple opacity mask, and it exports fine to PDF. So something is wrong with my file set up, but I can't pinpoint what! I have also tried exporting to various versions of PDF, and nothing works. Help!
    Screen cap from Illustrator:
    Screen cap of PDF:
Correct (Illustrator) with subtle starburst effect:
    Wrong (Acrobat PDf), no starburst!
    Thanks for looking!

Not sure what's going on in your file, but it's definately having a problem with the Steaks layer. Trying to release the clipping mask and ungrouping all the layers is having a problem so it might have something to do with the way the streaks layer was built.
Using your file I replaced the streaks layer and put a starburst that's clipped to the icon shape. I've attached two files. One is for Illustrator CC so you can retain the gradient fill on the stroke which is only available in newer versions of Illustrator. The other has the starburst I created expanded so that you can open the file and retain the startburst look.

  • Problem saving pdf from preview

Since upgrading to 10.4.3 I have noticed that preview behaves strangely when re-saving pdf files. If I preview a pdf document and the use the "save" function to make a copy, the copied file is about twice the size of the original, and the Table of Contents data seems to be lost. I've noticed this for files produced from the TeX package, such as are on the physics electronic archives (http://arxiv/org). Any explanation would be appreciated! I realise that I could just save a copy directly, but it is sometimes handy to preview first, and I am a little disturbed to discover that preview appears to be changing pdf files unnecessarily when saving them.
    12" powerbook   Mac OS X (10.4.3)

I can't help you, but I'm having the same problem with version 9.4.1
I have been trying to "save as" some .pdf documents (monthly statements) from a financial institution, but it does not work when I right click on the file, or when I right click on the document.  Like you, I click on the "disc" icon, and nothing happens.  I was able to save these in August and prior, but not now.  It makes no sense.
When I open these documents, they appear in a web window, not in the Reader software, so there is no tool bar showing "file", "edit", "view", etc, like what appearsw in Acrobat.  I'm stumped.  I posted this several days before you, but no replies yet.  I'm not real eager to pay $39 for the adobe help desk just yet.
