Saving photo's onto usb stick

Please can someone help me to save photo albums onto a usb stick.  I am having a nightmare.
Thank you
Sheena

Most USB sticks come from the factory formatted for MS-DOS. So if you insert it into a USB port, the light will flash and it will mount as an external drive.
¿Does it mount?
-If not, you may have to use Disk Utility to initialize it.
-If so, drag and drop files onto it and they will be duplicated onto it.
-If you can't tell,
Finder > Finder menu > Preferences > General ...
... then check the boxes for at least "External Disks"
do NOT use the USB ports on the keyboard, they do not have enough power, and the keyboard and the USB stick may malfunction!

I need to download photos from a USB stick to Elements 12.  How can I do this withut buying a card reader?

A card reader is only required when there is no equivalent port on your computer e.g. no SD card slot.
A USB stick is recognized by your computer as a removable drive.
So just insert the USB stick into any available USB slot and import

  • Is there a way of viewing photos from a USB stick without adding them to my iPhoto Library

Is there a way of viewing photos from a USB stick without adding them to my iPhoto Library? I am using OS Snow Leopard.

Use the Preview application. If you have it in your dock you can drag a group of photos to the icon and they'll open with the first picture large and the rest as thumbnails to the side. Use the buttons at the top to go to the next picture and zoom in or out.

  • Why can I not open photos loaded on USB stick from iPhoto on any other computer than a Mac?

I recently loaded a USB stick with various photos from iPhoto & these do not appear when attempted to be opened in My Documents on a Windows computer. Is there any way of fixing this issue?

Check the formatting of the USB stick. You have probably formatted the stick for Mac with a file system MacOS Extended (Journaled). This file system cannot be read by a Windows computer.   Save the photos to different drive and format the USB stick using Disk Utility to a file system both computers can read, MS-DOS   should work.
Disk Utility is located in the Utilities folder in the Applications folder.

  • Photo Downloader hides USB sticks in My Computer

Album Starter v3.0: When I load USB sticks they do not show up in My Computer unless I exit Photo Downloader in the tray first.
The USB stick does show in MS Word Open command on the File menu but after a long delay.
I have seen & tried a fix that unassociates images with Album but this has not fixed this problem.

  • HT1420 Can I download a movie onto my authorised computer and then copy if onto USB stick to put in the TV?

Can I download a movie onto my authorised computer and then copy if onto a USB to plug into our TV?

If you mean a movie purchased from the iTunes Store then the answer is no. Movies purchased from the iTunes Store are protected by DRM (Digital Rights Management) in this case using Apple's 'FairPlay' scheme and this prevents you simply copying and playing the file.
You can however purchase a movie from the iTunes Store and either play it via iTunes on a Mac or PC which could be connected to your TV, or you can use an Apple TV device which is specifically made for this purpose.
    See http://www.apple.com/appletv/
If on the otherhand you mean just a movie you have downloaded from a website which is nothing to do with Apple's iTunes Store then it very much depends on the format of the movie. Some 'Smart' TVs can play some movie file formats from USB memory sticks. You will need to check the specs of your TV to see what formats it supports.

  • Saving photo file onto disk high resolution

I am trying to put  my 10MB photo onto a CD so I can take the file to a printer.  When I drag the file onto the disk, the disk shows 330KB file. I can't print the file at 330KB. Why is the CD distorting my file and decreasing the resolution? How do I copy a photo file (jpeg or tiff) onto a CD?

Are you dragging from a Finder folder or from something else?

  • Is it possible (if so: how) to store an i-Photo file (with an average of 50 photos per file) onto a USB-stick, in a way that the file with the heading (e.i.'holidays' or 'work') remains in tact? If I click 'export' all photos are stored separately. Thanks

I am trying to store I-Photo files onto a USB-stick, keeping the file (with an average of 50 photos) in tact. Is this possible and if so: how, please? I have tried clicking on 'export' and then click on the name of the USB-stick. But by doing this all photos seem to be stored separately, under their image number - and not under the file name. Which makes it near impossible to easily refind the photos on the USB-stick.
    Thanks for advice

    Dear Alex,
If I understand correct your post you are confused with difference of loading procedure between real smartcard and SDK simulation. It is a fact that simulation uses its own loader application and smartcards usually use GlobalPlatform card manager application. To load CAP file to the GP compliant card it is necessary to use sequence of commands such as INSTALL(load),LOAD,INSTALL(install+make_selectable). I do not know any specific java API to perform this loading with any reader. But there are few software programs from various card producers. This software is usually distributes toghether with smartcards.

  • Does anyone know how I can copy photo and video files from the Photo's app on my Macbook, to a USB stick or other external back-up?

I've updated the software on my Macbook to the most recent version; regretting it now; and iPhoto has now become the Photo's app.
The problem is I can no longer back up my photo and video files taken on my phone, saved to my mac, by copying them and saving them on a USB stick or other external hard drive.
I could easily do this with iPhoto, but now Photos app does not let me copy the files when I select them.
Does anyone know if there's a way to save, copy or back-up my photo's and video files: prefreably one that doesn't involve iCloud, as I don't feel like paying for more storage; there must be some way to access those photos/videos from my iPhone to save on another source?

Select the photos and videos in Photos and use the command "File > Export"  and select a folder on your USB stick to save the photos to.

  • Can I download footage onto iMovie using a USB stick?

    Hi there,
Very quick question. Can I download my footage, which is saved on a 16gb USB stick, directly to iMovie? If not then is there a way I can get round this?
I don't have a camcorder as the footage was shot on my Super 8 camera and then transferred professionally.
    Many thanks! x

It depends. Mainly on what codec the service used.
Im iMovie, try FILE/IMPORT MOVIES and navigate to the external USB stick, select a file and import it.
If it does not work, see if you can open the file in QuickTime Player, then click WINDOW/INSPECTOR and tell us what is listed next to the word "Format"

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
First of all, check that you are looking for your USB drive in the correct place. To do it, first connect the USB drive. Then, open a Finder window (press the left icon of Dock) and choose your USB drive on the Finder sidebar, under "Devices". Finally, just copy the documents you need to the internal disk.
If you want to show the USB drive in Desktop, open Finder menu (on the menu bar) > Preferences > General, and tick "External drives"

  • To upload photos from my pc onto my ipad using a usb stick. I bought a camera connector kit and tried placing the usb stick onto one of the white square adaptors, stuck it into the ipad2 and I got 'the device uses too much power'' message. Pls help.

I am not very familiar with the ipad2. I wished to transfer some photos from my pc (not an apple pc but that is the only one I have) to my ipad2 as I thought it would be easier to cull them, edit, crop etc to create albums for our recent trip (the photos are already on the pc and no longer on the camera memory card). When I place the usb stick on the adaptor and stick it onto the Ipad2 I keep getting 'device uses too much power/ requires too much power' message. I read somewhere on the internet that a usb hub could be used to solve the issue but that did not work either. What am I doing wrong? Is there actually a way around this problem. If not why does apple sell this product for Ipad users at all?
Thank you for any help/ solution you can offer.
    Regards

I'd ask that on the iPad forum.

You need to create a DCIM directory off the root of the card, with the photos underneath it, and the photo filenames need to be exactly 8 characters long (no spaces) plus the file extension i.e. in a similar format as if a camera had created/written them. But a lot of USB memory sticks need more power than is supplied to the kit, so you may need a powered hub between it and kit.

  • Getting photo's back from usb stick

    Hi.
I feel a bit stupid, but can't seem to find the answer to a problem I have. The start of this, my sister who has a white macbook said that it was taking a long time to open. So I put my DiskWarrior in. Which came up with "Cant rebuild, not enough room" So I put her photo library onto an SD 8gig card in a usb card reader. Still not enough memory to sort out the 31% files out of place. So I connected it through a standalone HD. Her's has firewire 400 and mine 800, went to System Preference and set up target disc and did a clean up of her system with DW.
Now the fun bit, opened up iPhoto, clicked on the stick and dragged the photo's saved on the stick into iPhoto away it went saving the 2.65 gigs of photo's. I can open the photo's fully, when the stick is in there, but if I eject it comes up with "The volume for "DSCO6510.JPG" cannot be found. then all the rest about reconnecting disk or ?
Is there some simple thing, that is tripping me up. Maybe something that everybody knows and I should but must have been in the toilet or something, when everybody else found out.
Hope someone can earn a star for this.
All the Best for Christmas and a fantastic Mac New Year.
    Regards
    David

    Hi
Have saved the photo's on the stick to a folder on the desktop and then opened up iPhoto and then dragged the desktop folder to the photo folder in Library, waited for it to all load, removed the folder from the desktop, emptied the Trash and the photo's loaded in just fine. No more flagged warnings. So it is sorted, just can't understand why it did not work, before.

  • Please explain me, how to remove an usb stick or memory chip? With experiences only in pc:s, I do not find on my first apple e.g. MacBook Air a solution. Until now I have succeeded to destroy one chip full of photos and - there's no life more in the port.

Please explain me, how to remove an usb stick or memory chip? With experiences only in pc:s, I do not find on my first apple e.g. MacBook Air a solution. Until now I have succeeded to destroy one chip full of photos and - there's no life more in the port...
Someone told me just to remove the chip in clicking it to the trash can and voilá - it would be done. But as I did so, on the screen appeared a text which let me know, that that way had been the wrong one...
I should have clicked Finder plus something.... which I do not now remember but which was then not found behind the Finder.
So please would someone be so kind and tell me, where I can find explanations for the most simple functions. The manual I got does not include a clue.
    Thank you!

First make sure that no application is using or has open any files on the disk. Then:
Click and drag the disk icon on the desktop to the trash. Wait for the system to recognize the action, and the icon should disappear from the desktop. It is then safe to remove the device.
Alternatively, you can secondary click on the disk icon, and then primary click "Eject (name of disk)". Wait for the icon to disappear off the desktop, and then it is safe to remove the drive.
Here is a detailed help document on the subject.
