Saving Photoshop CS5 Print dialog box presets or defaults?

This question was asked in 2008 for PS CS3 with no answer, so I will ask it again...
OS 10.6.4
Using Canon iPF 5100 and 6100 printers
CS 5 Photoshop
Is there a way to set a preset in the PS Print dialog window for 'Photoshop manages color' and the ICC profile so that I do not have to reset them every time I print?
Also, where does PS pull the information for the printers pop-up menu near the top of the Print dialog box? Is this a preset or is it just pulling these printer names from the OS? I ask this because when I switch between one of the iPF printers, the Print > Color Management section defaults back to 'Printer Manages Color' and greys out the profile pop-up menu.
Thanks.

No, no presets but you can record the settings in an action. The action can record printer, printer settings and color management settings.

  • Photoshop CS5 print dialog

I am trying to print with my new 27" imac i7 (G5 forced upgrade), Snow Leopard, Epson 4000, Epson Driver 8.19 and Pshop CS5 and having a weird thing occur. In the past (CS4 on G5) I have always gone into the Pshop print dialog box and shrunk the image and repositioned it to run sequential test, same sheet before I make the larger print version. The old G5 would send the image to the printer the epson 4000 would load the paper move it the the correct location print the small area and spit out the paper. Now I send, it the printer loads the paper and as if you are printing the whole sheet image the head moves the entire width and length of the sheet but only lays down ink to where I designated in the dialog box. So the test takes as long as a full size print. Any ideas whats up?
    Thanks

  • Photoshop cc print dialog box image dark

I'm on a MacBook Pro running Mt. Lion with PS CC, an Eizo monitor, printing with an Epson 3880, calibrated and profiled with a ColorMunki. When I preview an image to print, the image is darker in preview, and the color is much different than the actual image. When I print with the proper paper profile, (photoshop manages color and the space is Adobe 1998) it prints looking like the preview image rather tha the one on the monitor. I also run Snow Leopard on a partition with CS6, and the above does not happen, everything works fine. A photog friend of mine with a similar setup is experiencing the same problem since upgrading to Mt. Loin. Another graphic designer friend is running Mavericks and is has the same problem. I have another photog friend in Nashville who is having THE SAME PROBLEM!! Does anyone know what the heck is going on? I'm the only one who kept Snow Leopard so I can still print, which I do on almost a daily basis. What broke what? Is it a bug with PS CC, or did something in MT. Lion break? This is very frustrating for all of us and I find it totally unacceptable.
If anyone has a clue and can help, we would be eternally greatfull.
    Thanks,
    Greg Nikas

Thanks for the tip on inserting photos. I'm new here, won't post a link in the future.
    I'll try to simplify my issue;
    1. In CS6 in Snow Leopard, the original/source image looks just like the image in the print dialog box and prints beautifuly. See images below.
    Original image.
    Print dialog box image.
    2. In PS CC and CS6 in Mt. Lion, the original/source image is redder and more saturated than the image in the print dialog box, but the print looks like the the image in the print dialog box. The image in the print dialog box looks like the original/source image in CS6 in Snow Leopard! See images below.
    Original image.
    Print dialog box image.
    3. The issue seems to be with how the original/source image in PS CC and CS6 renders in Mt. Lion. As I said in my intial post, I have three friends who are having the same problem and none of us can figure it out, and I'm the only one who kept Snow Leopard.
    4. I'm on a MacBook Pro running Snow Leopard and Mt. Lion on a partitioned disk.
    5. I have an Eizo CG222W monitor, which is calibrated with an x-rite ColorMunki. Each OS has it's own calibration profile.
    6. I print on an Epson 3880 using the latest driver, and all papers have thier own profile and look the same when printed from either OS.
    7. All settings in PS CC, CS6 and Bridge are identical in both OS's.
I hope this is stated more clearly.

  • Printer dialog box does not appear in Photoshop CS.5

I use Photoshop CS.5.1 with a Macbook 2013 using version 10.9.5. The printer works perfectly with all other applications but in Photoshop no printer dialog box comes up and the print job does not appear in the printers queue. Anyone the same issues?

First, try nuking (deleting them and letting the application create new ones) your Photoshop preferences:
To re-create the preferences files for Photoshop, start the application while holding down Ctrl+Alt+Shift (Windows) or Command+Option+Shift (Mac OS). Then, click Yes to the message, "Delete the Adobe Photoshop Settings file?"
Note: If this process doesn't work for you while you're using a wireless (Bluetooth) keyboard, attach a wired keyboard and retry.
Important: If you re-create the preferences by deleting the Adobe Photoshop CS6 Settings file, make sure that you only delete that file. If you delete the entire settings folder, you also delete any unsaved actions or presets.
Reinstalling Photoshop does not remove the preferences file. Before reinstalling Photoshop, re-create your preferences.
NEW Video! Julieanne Kost created a video that takes you through two ways of resetting your Photoshop preferences. The manual preference file removal method is between 0:00 - 5:05. The keyboard shortcut method is between 5:05 - 8:18. The video is located here.
    Mac OS
Important: Apple made the user library folder hidden by default with the release of Mac OS X 10.7. If  you require access to files in the hidden library folder to perform Adobe-related troubleshooting, see How to access hidden user library files.

  • Custom paper size button missing on print dialog box

I installed the print driver for our new Z5200ps printer on four machines--all with no issues. I installed it on the fifth PC, and when the user tried to print from Illustrator and Photoshop, neither print dialog box had the custom paper button as all the other machines do. I deleted the printer and reinstalled--still no luck. Am using the latest driver. We're all running Windows 7, 64 bit. Thanks for any help!

On december 28, 2008 I uninstalled Adobe Reader 8 and subsequently
installed Adobe Reader 9...assuming it to be an upgrade. The print
format box is completely worthless in content, and above all, it
does offer a "print" option. You are totally unable to print zny-
thing. Why is the print option (command) not included. Is this an
    overlooked error.
Whar process do I use to reinstall Adobe Reader 8 and uninstall
Adobe Reader 9. I am using Windows Vista Home Basic and have never
had a problem using Adobe Reader 8.
I would appreciete whatever help anyone can offer.

  • Pages button  in printer dialog box  is deactivating while taking print ?

    Hello exports,
while taking print abap reports (developed using smartforms) pages buttoon (from- to) in printer dialog box
is by default is deactivating .How to activate this button ? who will do this one (Abaper or basis guy).
    pls help me in this.

    Hi,
So, as you see a field "from ... to ...", I think you are talking about the "background print parameters" dialog (this is not the smart forms print dialog, which contains field "page selection").
I don't understand. "Pages from ... to ..." is always displayed, and the user can enter them manually. Do you want to enter pages programmatically?
What is your code or the steps to display this dialog? Is it fully standard or do you use GET_PRINT_PARAMETERS programmatically?

  • My CUPS printers bleed their settings into both printers when selected through Print Dialog Box

I currently have 2 printers setup through CUPS. One printer has printing options set as 100x230 page size and one as A4.
When the FF printer dialog pops up, the default printer has its settings displayed fine and printing by clicking print produces the correct output to the printer.
If however when I go into the print dialog box from scratch(default is displayed) and select the other printer and check the printer "Page Setup", it has inherited the Paper Size(100x230) from the default printer and not the settings for this now selected printer which should be "A4".
This is quite frustrating as when my users go in and select the correct printer for the print job, they need to make sure that they select the printer, then the page size and then click print.
It might not sound like a big deal but they are printing using both options simultaneously throughout the day and one printer is fine, but the other one requires this messing with on every print.
What I think needs to be done, is every time the printer is selected in the dialog box from the list, firefox should request the full printer info from CUPS and completely refresh the printer settings thus overwriting the previous selected printer settings.
After all, these settings are only applicable at the point the user wishes to hit the print button.
Is there anything I'm missing here?
It seems this has always been a problem.
Help me as it's driving me mad :-(
    Thanks in advance
    Regards
    JASON

Is this on one sole PC that has multiple printers available to it? <br />
Or are you printing to multiple shared printers across a network from multiple PC's?
Also if that is from multiple PC's, do they all run the same operating system? <br />

  • Photoshop CS5 crashes when selecting print settings in print dialog box

I work on a Mac Pro desktop with OS 10.6.4. Photoshop CS5 crashes every time I try to select "print settings" in the print dialog box. I work in a large office and our networked color printer is a Konica Minolta bizhub C451. In fact, if I hit "print" it will crash whether or not I hit "print settings" first. In CS4, there was a separate menu item that allowed you to change printer settings before going into the print dialog box. That choice is gone now, you have to select it through the print dialog box.
This is the only way I can print out color proofs for my clients. Unfortunately, I do not have administrator rights to any printer (our office has about 100 people, only IT staff can fiddle with that). What can I do to get this solved?

I think I have fixed it, though I'm not sure why this worked.
System Preferences>Print & Fax. Selected the Konica Minolta printer (the B/W printer was working fine). Changed the name. Still didn't fix it. Went back selected my newly named Konica Minolta then "Open Print Queue" (like Dave said)>print settings. Change the driver to "Generic Postscript printer." I could print, but only on letter-size paper, no other options available (need tabloid). Went back to system preferences>print & fax>Konica Minolta2>open print queue>drivers then I reselected the updated printer drivers--the same one that hasn't been working.
    Now, it works.
Thanks all for the helpful advice!

  • CS6 Photoshop: One newly-created PSD filewon't print because the print dialog box won't appear altho the file properties appear to be the same as other files that do print.

CS6 Photoshop: One newly-created PSD file won't print because the print dialog box won't appear after selecting File > Print.  Then "Print" becomes grayed out. The file properties such as permissions, are the same as other PSD files that do print.  This file also cannot be converted to Adobe PDF, which is not offered as choice under "Save as", whereas other can be.  I've exited, reopened Photoshop, restarted computer, checked out other CS6 PSD files which do print, nothing changes.  The 52 MB file has been flattened. OS is Windows 7.  Thanks for any suggestions.

Sounds like the printer driver is having some problems.
Try holding the space bar down when you select Print (which makes the print dialog NOT load previously used settings).

  • InDesign CS5 crashing from print dialog box

Using CS5, multiple computers, some on Leopard, some on Snow Leopard. Printing to a Xerox Phaser 7500. When we set up to duplex print in the print dialog box, the application shuts down when we hit the "print" button. I've searched all through these forums, and the Xerox site, and can't find anything that sounds like this problem.
Brand new printer, latest drivers, all Mac OS updates applied.
    Any ideas?

There are also reports that there are many other types of issues which causes the hang ups, not just printing issues. What I have found is that one of the problem is font related. I found that I had multiple versions of the Times font and that the documents which I had hanging the most would contain the Times font. I deleted the font and replaced it with Cambria. Now those documents seldom will hang. My guess is that neither the latest version of OSX or CS5 works well with older fonts.
I still get an occasional hang which requires me to force quit IDCS5. When I do, about 3 out of 5 times, it sends an crash report to Apple but not to Adobe so I still think their is some conflict between IDCS5 and the operating system.  I am currently running OSX 10.6.5.
The problem I find is that I am getting the occasional hangs randomly. Sometimes its when packing a file, sometimes it when selecting the type tool. But I've also run into the problem when opening another document.

  • ID CS5 (7.0.4) painfully slow opening print dialog box

I've been having this issue for quite some time and finally getting around to finding out what's going on.
I counted 38 seconds between the time I hit Control-P, and the time the print dialog box opens up. ID looks like it has hung up until it finally opens the print dialog box.
Edit: meant to say that my documents are all very simple text-based pages with a simple letterhead graphic file embedded, 5-6 pages usually.
Any suggestions on how to fix this, such a lot of wasted time waiting.
    Thanks!
System: Windows 7, 8 GB Ram
    ID CS5 7.0.4

That would be MY first step. It takes no real time and will eliminate it as a possibility. Next thing I would do is trash prefs: see Replace Your Preferences
If neither of those works, I'm not sure what I would do next...  Perhaps have a look at what else is running that could be slowing things down.

  • Print Dialog Box Won't Open in InDesign CS5.5 on PC

Worked fine yesterday and today I can't get the print dialog box to open by either the print button or ctrl-P.  Have tried restarting the program and restarting the computer with no resolution.  The rest of the program works fine.

I was unable to find the SavedData file.  I am running Windows 7 and there seems to be two files there /Roaming/Adobe/InDesign and /Roaming/Adobe/AdobeInDesing5.5 and neither one has a clear file name "InDesign SavedData" for me to remove.  I think I found the "InDesign Debaults" under the /Roaming/Adobe/InDesign/version7.5/en_US/InDesignDefaults.  Is that one it?

  • PUT BACK THE MISSING THE SCREEN FUNCTION IN THE PRINT DIALOG BOX!!!!

    Hello all...
I am a creative director in the screen print (garment industry) for over 20 years.  We have always used PS to directly print and control our halftone screens and angles through the screen function in the print dialog box.  Now it has miraculously disappeared after so many versions previous.
I emplore Adobe and their team to please update this function back into CS5.
Although it is a function many might not even understand how to use, it is IMPERATIVE to the screen printer/artist in this industry.
There are workarounds, of course, but they are much more tedious and time consuming.
I truly cannot convince enough that we folks in this industry want this function back!!!!!

  • Printer dialog box does not appear

When I do  File>Print  I'm getting the following error message:
"The saved printer information is not compatible with this version of Photoshop, or the saved printer is no longer available. You will need to check your printer settings before printing."
The Print option then gets grayed out and a print dialog box never appears.  Don't you need the printer dialog box to select the printer?  How can I select a printer so that at least the dialog box comes up?

Someone had a similar issue below and their solution fixed my problem also:
Go into windows control panel and get into the printer section. Choose  another printer as the default printer as in MS XPS document writer and  save. Then open PS back up and select what you want to print and also  the printer you want to print on.

  • CS3 page setup: in print dialog box???

I am confused about the page setup in CS3. Coming from Illustr. 10 if I started a drawing in landscape mode and wanted to change into portrait mode I had to change the document and page setup boxes. Now in CS3 there is only a document setup, the page setup is in the print dialog box. Can someone share some light on this?
    Thanks.
    Ulrich

I think the process is now as it always should have been. It was crazy always having to go to two different dialog boxes just to change one setting. The thinking here is that Illustrator is now smart enough to know to automatically adjust the Page Setup settings for you -- if you rotate the document from Landscape to Portrait for example, AI should be able to figure out on its own that you want it to print that was as well.
The main point here is that Page Setup options aren't needed much anymore -- most of the options are handled directly within Illustrator's Print dialog (and can hence be saved in Print Presets, etc).
