Saving project as another project = send to trash???

Hi, I noticed that when I have a project open and I want to save this one as another (new) project, then the original lso file is send to my trashcan.
Is this normal? Can it be disabled somewhere?
I was lucky to notice it the 3 times it allready happened to me before emptying my trash. I fear the time were I'll forget about it and trash my original work...

The project file is the project.prel. You cannot change the project file (project.prel file) into a project.mp4 or project.mov file.
But, what is possible is to export the Timeline content of that project.prel file to a file whose format has a .mp4 or .mov file extension.
For Premiere Elements 11 on Windows 7, 8, or 8.1 64 bit, I would suggest
for the .mp4
Publish+Share/Computer/AVCHD with Presets = MP4 NTSC DV Widescreen - using default export settings
for the .mov
Publish+Share/Computer/QuickTime with Presets = NTSC DV 16:9 - using default export settings
If you have a HD source on your Timeline and your destination is a DVD-VIDEO widescreen on DVD disc, you forced into the
properties of the DVD-VIDEO product, namely 720 x 480 16:9 @ 29.97 interlaced frames per second (with 16:9 flag stretching
the 720 x 480 to 856 x 480 for display after encoding).
But, if you have a HD source in this project that just produced the DVD-VIDEO widescreen on DVD disc, you can opt to export
a file with the same resolution as the DVD or export to a file with a resolution comparable to the HD source. Please clarify and
we can fine tune the suggested export setting accordingly.

How to save part of project to another project file

I'm sure there is a way to do this but I cant seem to figure it out, hopefully someone here knows.
I imported all my kids videos and cut them down and put in transitions and everything, BUT it ended up being just short of 3 hours long and file is 2GB.
When I try to import into IDVD it ends up being too large for a DVD so I need to know HOW can I remove the last hour of my movie file into a new project without just deleting it out of original project which would leave me having to re-edit all over again the hours worth of video i already did for another project?
The disc I am trying to burn to is a DVD+R which i assume is 4GB.

Use the "Duplicate Project" option to create a duplicate project. Then delete the last half from one and the first half from the other.

How to copy part/all of a project into another project in PE4?

Is there a way to copy some or all of the workof one projedt ( clips, transitions and effects) into another project. I would especially like to use the same rolling credits in all my video's. I've tried copy/paste and Get Media from a file but I get "file format not supported" when I try to import a .prel (project)

There is a also a Clipboard "extender," ClipMate, that will allow one to Copy/Paste from one Project to another. I have not used it, but many have and few have any issues.
The Export to DV-AVI method is the main one. The only thing to think about is that you will want either a perfectly tight edit, before the Export, or a very loose edit (I'd go so far as to add 02 sec. of Black Video between un-Trimmed Clips), as you will not want to, say replace a Transition, as you would have to Trim even more of your Clips to create the necessary Handles.

To my knowledge there is no way to add this file in one time to the find command and I have very less knowledge about scripting. If you know how to use and create theme your goal could be to create one your own but the time and effort is far more then just rate or label the wanted files.
For example, You can have bridge pointed to the folder with all the files, if you have nested subfolder select the main folder and choose select items from subfolders in the view menu, this shows you all the files of the main folder in the content panel.
Select a sort order that corresponds with your list.
Scroll through the files and the ones you need you can either add one star or a label to it. When done select one star or the chosen label and you will only see the files you need.

I´ve seen that bridge comes with a colaborationtool but i didn´t realize this before and now
i looking for a workaround or workflow to keep things easy.
Not sure what you mean with collaboration tool but think you mean the option to reach PS functions via the Tools menu and select batch or photomerge?
This has bin there from the first edition as I try to recall and is very, very useful as there are many other tools in Bridge that will provide you a fast workflow.
I would advice you to buy (and read) the book Real World Camera Raw by Jeff Schewe and Bruce Fraser. There are editions for CS2, CS3, CS4 and CS5. It is written in very understandable language and you will find almost everything there is to know about ACR and Bridge and how to create perfectly and fast workflows

Not in PrE. PrPro can do this. The closest that one can come with PrE is to Export/Share from Project 1, as a DV-AVI (for SD material), and then Import that into the other Project. If you do this, I would either edit quite loosely, so you have Handles on the Clips, when Exported, or edit very tightly, and be sure that you do NOT need to do more, as any Handles will be included in Transitions, etc.

Deleting a line from a text file & opening a project from another project

im doing project on linux redhat 8.0 using java (jbuilder 8). I need to
open a project2 from behind a menu item in project1. I tried importing
the package of project2 and then initializing a constructor of main
class of project2 in project1(behind the "open project2" menu item) but
i dont know where to place the class files of project2 so im getting a
compilation error(when compiling project1) that unable to locate
imported package files.
is there any other way of doing this
like making an .exe file of project2??? if so, then pls tell me how.
Another problem is i want to delete a line of selected text from a text
file
using java. is there a method for that or any other way?

Move change request from a maintenance project to another project

Hello all,
we want to close a maintenance project A and create a new maintenance project B. We have a lot of change request they aren`t finish, so we want to move them to the new maintenance project.
The following steps we have done:
1. Doing all phases of the maintenance cycle of project A.
2. Close maintenance cycle project A.
3. Create a new project B.
4. create a new maintenance cycle for project B.
Now, we have the problem, that all change request from project A and maintenance cycle A didn't move to the new project B and cycle B.
If you create a new maintenance cycle in project A, all open change requests move to the new cycle. But we want to move them to a new project and a new cycle.
Have anybody a suggestion how to do this?

there are a couple of methods in a class that might help you if you DO have to do it... but SAP will not support you in case you have any problem.
you can take a look to methods of class CL_HF_HELPER.
Methods :
SET_BO_LINK_TO_CHNG_DOC is used to set link between SDMJ and SDMN
SET_BO_TASKLIST_OF_CHNG_DOC is used to set link between SDMJ and tasklist
as there are those methods, to create links SAP, provides some others that are supposed to break them (If i remember well they are not activated or finished but you can still have a look !!)
Those methods are
DELETE_BO_LINK_OF_CHNG_DOC
DELETE_BO_TASKLIST_OF_CHNG_DOC
RECREATE_BO_LINK_OF_CHNG_DOC
RECREATE_BO_TLIST_OF_CHNG_DOC

One more time... be carefull with those methids... I think it s quite dangerous to handle those kind of things without SAP's support.
Also, one mote thing... since many many customers have asked for this functionality; SAP is trying to develop the whole thing (with adjustments of Checks functionalites of ChaRM) for the next releases. Maybe that will be part of the next release

How to use a project in another project

I am learning Java, Activiti and Vaadin - all at once. I am so new to Java I am not even sure how to ask this question. I have been searching and trying for the last couple of hours.
I am following a book on Vaadin. They have example code. It needed some classes from example code at their site (http://dev.vaadin.com/svn/doc/book-examples/trunk/). I used Subversive to "download" the project that has all the source code in a project. This is where I am stuck.
I have a project I am using to experiment with. I tried quite a few different things. I suspect that I need the whole project I downloaded to be packaged in some way and then import that into my project.
How do I do what I need to do?

In order of recommended preference
1. Do NOT try to learn three interdependent technologies like that at the same time. Sample code for one project may use advanced features of one of the other projects. Learn the basics of each technology one at a time before you start combining them.
2. Download the pre-built jar files and then add them to your classpath. That site has a release folder where you can find the jar files

3. Download the source files (you say you did) and build THEIR project manually then use those jar files in your project. For someone new to Java that would NOT be recommended. You may not have the tools needed to do the build properly and you will spend more time trying to get the build working when you would be better off using the time to learn Java. They may use Eclipse while you may be using NetBeans. Their pre-packaged build scripts may not work at all with NetBeans.
4. Add their source files to your project. The kicker here is that they may be using other third-part jar files and you will need to find and download the correct versions of those. See item #2 above.

Moving table from one project to another project using metadata.

I have exported metadata of one table from project owb_demo and I want the same table in project Owb_demo_1 by importing the metadata. I am newbie . When we export it even store project info like owb_demo . How to change this things in metadata. When I try to import it gives error saying table already exists.
How do we migrate objects from one project to other using import and export of metadata.

Copy a mapping from one project to another project in same reepository.

I am using OWB 10GR2. I have two projects in this repository called dev_project and test_project. after completion of mappings development in dev_project, i want to move the mapping from dev_project to test_project. I was able to copy the mapping from dev_project to test_project.
However, when i open the mapping in test_project project, I was able to see all mapping operators like sources, targets and all other operators. But filter operators, join operators and aggregator operators doesn't have its properties( means there are no filter condidtion, join condition).
Please help me how to take those filter and join conditions also from dev_project to test_project.

How to import part of a sequence from a project to another project ?

I am having some problem figuring out how to do this:
I have an opening sequence which consist of about 20 clips using 7 video tracks.
Now I want to use this opening sequence onto a new project. How do I copy this opening sequence onto a new project with the 20 clips on exactly the same position in the 7 video tracks ?
NB: I know how to copy a single clip or a single photo from one project to the other project (I just open the 2 projects & I have 2 tabs) but I am at a lost as to how to copy sequence from one project to the other.

Import whole completed projects into another project-make it 1

Hi,
I have a problem. I finished my I movie project recently, but because I worked on it as several ones, which I wanted to put together in the end, I don't know now, how to make them one! So it's not just single clips I want to import, but whole projects. I'm using iMovie 4 on a iBook G4 with Panther (10.3.9.).
So if anyone knows how to sort that out, I'm happy about any good advide!

At first it was a larger project with about 30 Clips in .mov and .avi, a few JPG'and one audio Track. But then I created a simple project with only two .mov clips and nothing else for testing and the problem remained the same.

Error message appears when linking one project to another.

I keep having problems linking a captivate project to another project. The projects are saved as .cp files stored in the same folder as all of my other Captivate files. I did publish them to .htm files and it worked.
Why would they not link properly when they are in .cp format? It also gives me a message that states the directory the file is in does not exist. However, I have checked the pathfile name twice and it is correct.
Any ideas what may be happening?

The last Captivate version to use .cp format was Captivate 4. So you must be speaking about version 4 or earlier here?
The .cp format is the source project file, not an output format like HTML/SWF or PDF. You may be accustomed to other software apps like MS Office where the output is the same as the source (DOC, PPT, XLS, etc) but Captivate is a different beast.
There's no point trying to link one Captivate project file to another. What you are probably hoping to do is link the OUTPUT from one Captivate project to the OUTPUT from another project. Is that correct?
