Saving project to put on another computer

My macbook pro does not want to burn a DVD. How can I export/save to a folder/external drive so I can burn on another computer my project?

Thanks for getting submitting some suggestions. I did a build to hard drive as an .img file. copied to other computer (MacPro) running leopard. I put a new DVD disk and copied the two folders to DVD disk and did a burn. It finished but when I insert disk it open DVD player but does not start. When I press start it comes up with "Support disk not available" The project in DVDsp had a file that automatically started. I tested it and it worked.
I can start it by telling DVD player to open media, go to TS folder and select choose. What about if I use a stand alone DVD player connect to TV? How do I get to auto-start?
How do you burn a UDF disc?

Is this problem only occurring with the project you copied from an external drive, or with any FCP project?
For example, if you were to create a new project, do you still have this problem?
In FCP, if you go to the menu FInal Cut Pro > System Settings and look at the Scratch Disks Tab, is it set where you expect it to be? Have you tried switching the scratch disk to a different disk?

  • Getting "Media Offline" After Archived Project to HDD to Another Computer

    Hello,
How do you avoid getting media offline when transferring a project to another computer's C drive?
I use PrE9 and decided to transfer my project to another computer for performance purposes. I archived the project (copy, not trim) to an external hard drive first, making sure to synchronize the drive letters of the HDD in both old/new computers beforehand. Working from the external drive is fine -- no media offline issues -- but I wanted to transfer the archived project to my new computer's C drive. After doing so, the project is now riddled with media offline messages. I'd rather not deal with the clips individually as there are too many.
What step(s) am I missing? I'm sure it's easy, but this amateur has a lot to learn.

Well, when one changes the drive letter (or any part of the Absolute Path) with linked media, the first time that the Project has been Opened, those links will be broken. PrE should give you the dialog screen, asking "Where is file ____ ?" This article goes into much more detail: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/990503?tstart=0
There are also some tid-bits in these articles, that might be helpful:

  • My ipad quit backing up and it cannot find the file.  I tried putting on another computer after a hard reset but it says it cannot back up there either.

My ipad quit backing up because it cannot find the file.  I have tried a restore and hard reset and adding itunes to another computer and putting it on there but it still will cannot add the ipad to the new computer and back up.  I have an iPad (not iPad 2) and 5.01 OS.  It appears that my iPad is not fully fuctional since I updated to the new OS which is when my ipad stopped backing up.  I lost data too and some apps don't work anymore.

Have you previously synced photos to the iPad, as that occasionally causes the 'missing file' error. If so then try deleting the photo cache from your computer and then re-try backing up - the location of the cache, and how to delete it, is on this page http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1314.
In terms of apps not working, if it's happening on all the apps that you've downloaded from the App Store, but not the Apple built-in ones, then try downloading any free app from the store (as that appears to reset something) and then re-try them - the free app can then be deleted.
If it's happening on all apps then try closing them all completely and then see if they work when you re-open them : from the home screen (i.e.not with any app 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of each app to close them, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
If that doesn't work then you could try a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

  • Build project not working on another computer.

    Hello
I created a java project on Netbeans and I used an external library to create an AIM bot, I used this tutorial to get it setup http://dev.aol.com/creating-aim-enabled-applications-java1 At first I was getting the following error.
Exception in thread "main" java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: no accjwrap in java.library.path
        at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadLibrary(Unknown Source)
        at java.lang.Runtime.loadLibrary0(Unknown Source)

at com.larrysllamas.llamashrink.LlamaShrinkMain.main(LlamaShrinkMain.java:68)I had to set the working directory to the project's bin folder and it started to work. But I clicked on "Clean and Build" for the project and when I move the project to another computer, I get the same errors as the working directory is not the lib folder. Any idea how I can fix this?
    Regards

Google for java.library.path and find out how to use/set it to locate native libraries.
And here I'm hoping that you're not writing yet another spam bot. If you are in fact writing a spam bot: burn in heck.

  • If library is put on another computer will 'Date Added' field be lost? Thx!

Hi there, I'm planning on reformating my PC (virus problems) and of course i want to take my music along on an externam HD with but I'm not sure how to put my music back while preserving the Date Added field as well as Ratings and Play Count....
any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

    Hi, Bryan!
To preserve your playlist and related information, you have to include the iTunes Library files from your old computer in the transfer to your new computer.
They tell iTunes what songs are in your Library, where the song files are located as well as playcounts, ratings, etc.
It's important to maintain the exact same directory structure for your music files on the new computer as you had on the old one, i.e. if the path was C:\Documents and Settings\ user name \My Documents\My Music\iTunes\iTunes Music , it must remain the same ... including the same Windows User Account name.

  • Downloading FCP on another computer?

    Hi.
    I bought FCP online.
Is it possible to put it another computer of mine?
    Thank you,
    Crystal

I assume you bought it at the App Store?
Go back to the app store and download it on the computer in question - you should not have to pay.  It will not disable the other.
Here is the essence of the license agreement:
The Final Cut Pro X license agreement states that you are granted a limited non-exclusive license to install and use the Apple Software only on Apple-branded computers that you own or control in accordance with the Mac App Store Product Usage Rules located at http://www.apple.com/legal/itunes/ww/ ("Mac Usage Rules"). Except as permitted under the Mac Usage Rules, you may not distribute or make the Apple Software available over a network where it could be used by multiple devices at the same time."

The events and projects folders have to be on the top level of the drive for FCP to recognize them.

  • I have saved my project to my harddrive and then when I try to open it on another computer that uses final cut I am unable to open the edited project

i have saved my project to my harddrive and then when I try to open it on another computer that uses final cut I am unable to open and edit the project

Assuming this is an external HD, use finder to select the drive with your original computer, then press Cmd+i to show info. Go to the bottom of the info window and make sure 'Ignore ownership of this volume' is checked so that other computers can access it.

  • Transfer a final cut pro project to another computer

I would like to take an entire project and open it on another computer (final cut pro). It's a 30-second spot, so there's not a lot of content, but I'm not sure how to go about saving all the pertinent files to DVD. What files do I need to copy to ensure it makes it to its destination without forgetting something...?
    Thank you in advance

First you'll need your FCP project file. The other computer will need to be running the EXACT same version if you want to swap back and forth. Then gather all your assets like video, photos, graphics and re-link these in your new project.
Or you could try media manager. I have good luck with it, others do not. Both methods pretty simple once you've done it. Good luck,
