Saving Queries in Query Designer

Hi All,
I was just wondering if it is possible to save queries without having to assign a transport where it will be attached. This is considering that that standard transport system in BW is deactivated.
Thanks a lot.
Shella

until you change the object package to something other than $tmp they will be stored locally. When you are ready to transport I follow these steps.
Change package (create transport request)
release the transport request from above
collect the object
create transport request and tranport it.
From this point on you need an open transport to edit the object since you have changed the package.

  • Strange Error Saving Qry in Query Designer

I am getting a strange error when saving a BEx query.
    The error looks like:
Formal error in table: CON, IOBJNM: 1SORTINFO, field: CONTYPE, value: 5
If I go ahead and save this and run it using RSRT I get the error a bit more detailed:
    Message Text
Formal error in table: CON, IOBJNM: 1SORTINFO, field: CONTYPE, value: 5
    Technical Data
    Message type__________ E (Error)
    Message class_________ BRAIN (Messages: BRAIN)
    Message number________ 450
    Message variable 1____ CON
    Message variable 2____ 1SORTINFO
    Message variable 3____ CONTYPE
    Message variable 4____ 5
It happens on miscellaneous cubes, multi-providers, and even dso. However, some objects I don't get the error.
My scenario for duplicating this error is:
    1) create new qry, select cube or multi-provider
    2) drag a char into the rows
    3) drag a key fig in the cols
    4) press the "qry check" link
    ERROR appears.
    All these objects are activated.
It must have happened during our change to 7.0 enh 1, but only ocurrs in our DEV and SND systems, QA, and PRD are fine.
    Anyone see this before?
    Mike

    Hi Mike
You might try from your colleagues system who has different version of BEx .

  • Transport of Queries: Query Designer vs. Transport Connection in RSA1

    Hello,
actually we are having a very strange behavior towards query transports.
Whenever we collect queries using Query Designer ("save"),  all query elements are written on a transport request.
Collecting queries using rsa1 transport connection collects additional repair elements. For some reason these repair elements cause problems: although query elements + repair elements are transported in transport protocol, the query itself does not exist on the quality system.
    Any idea why?
    Thank You!
    Goliad001

    Hi,
If you are getting error in transport log due to repair elements, then you can move your transport in Overwrite mode. And when you are moving your query through transport organizer make sure that you have marked your query as well for transport along with dependent objects.
Once you collect all the objects and write them to TR just have a refresh to make sure that all the objects are written to TR. You can check that just beside the object name in Transport organizer.

  • IVEIW in Query Designer of BI 7.0

    Hi Experts,
In BW 3.5 i used to develop queries in query designer and used to create iview ....generate URL for that query
Later used to send that URL for the business user to execute the query which is in development system...for any formating changes he need
How can i generate that URL/IVIEW from Query Designey in BI 7.0
    Thanks

I think this is more to do with your windows settings.
Query designer invokes the default browser which is IE. If you set Firefox as ur default browser in your system, the query should open in Firefox.

  • BEx Query Designer - Execute pops up blank Internet Explorer session

    Hi gurus,
From BEx Query Designer, I choose Execute, and it pops up a blank Internet Explorer window rather than the query.  It says about:blank in the URL and the page is white.
I read some posts that say to run RSPOR_SETUP, but I don't have a Java system or Portal system so does that still apply to me?  I want the URL that pops up to point to the BW system which is an ABAP system.

    Hi,
Please note that Java stack is mandatory for running Queries in web side
or for executing the Queries using Transaction RSRT -> Java Web or
for executing the Queries using Query Designer in Release 7.x .
So, please install Java stack and use BI Java components for running
    Queries in web side here.
Also, please refer the following note for details:

The interface is a little bit different now, but the installation
steps still follow the same logic as SAP NetWeaver 2004s.
You can use manual steps to set up integration as per note 917950.
Also, please don´t use report RSPOR_SETUP for configuration check

  • Transaction for overview of Queries published in Roles via Query designer

    Hi Guru's,
in Query designer I have the possibility to publish Queries in roles.
I have the problem that some Queries have been published twice or more in different folders, so I want to clean it. But I don't know how to delete the Queries via BEx Analyzer as they are there again as soon as I log in again.
Isn't there any transaction in Backend that I can use to structure my Queries in roles?
    Thanks in advance!

One way to delete unneeded duplicates....
Go to Query designer, in development
Instead of loading the query you want to delete, find it in the folder/role
Click on the "Trash Can" icon
Then we have 2 more options to consider....
    - Delete object ...will TOTALLY delete it in the development system.... caution with this one, unless you really do want it to permanently go-away.
    - Delete only the object reference from the Role/Favorites... will delete the one instance in the folder, but leaves it everywhere else, useful when deleting a duplicate report in the folder
After choosing one of the 2 options above, then click on the 'continue' button.
"Refresh" to check what was done in development = Menu / Refresh
When done... transport the role to Q and Production.
Similar process if the query is located inside of web template and there are multiple instances of the same web template in the roles/folders that need to be cleaned up in the web application designer.

  • Can Business Object Access Queries from the BI query designer?

    Hi Gurus,
I've started working with BOBJ and honestly I'm not impressed with it's functionalities, specially with the report layouts (SO many limitations!!). Anyway I was wondering if Business Objects can access BI Queries in the Query Designer since I can do most of the manupilation in Query Designer that I need. Thank You in advance and any help will be most certainly appreciated.

    Hello KIT,
Also, look at the below Blog for xcelsius where he directly consumes the BEx query the QUERY_VIEW_DATA Web service out of the BW system. This is one way to approach the BEx query:

  • Problem with Queries Structures in Bex Query Designer and Universe Designer

    Hi everyone,
I have a problem when i try to do a Universe from a Bex Query Designer.
When I use a Characteristic Restrictions in a Structure, the universe only show me the structure without the objects inside it.
    EJ:
    1) Bex Query Designer
    Colunms
    (Structure) ZSRT_123
                          - (Characteristic Restrictions) Reg Guayana
    >          (InfoObject)     0Product = 'XXX'
    >          (InfoObject)     0Country = 'YYY'
         - (Characteristic Restrictions) Reg Caracas
    >          (InfoObject)     0Product = 'AAA'
    >          (InfoObject)     0Country = 'BBB'
    Rows
    (Structure) ZSRT_456
                   (Key Figure)     Net Sales
    2) Universe designer
    (Class) ZSRT_456
    >(Measure)      Net Sale
    (Class)     ZSRT_123
    >(Dimension)      ZSRT_123
The universe dont translate the two Characteristic Restrictions in the structure ZSRT_123.
Any information would be much appreciated. Thank you.

    Hi,
I assume that you are using BOE XI 3.1 SP2.
We have added an option in SP2 to generate or not the L00 level.
Unfortunately this option applies not only on characteristics but also on hierarchies, hierarchies variables and structures: that's the reason why you have no elements belonging to the structure generated.
I recommend to always generate L00 in order to have your structure generated correctly.
This issue will be fixed in SP3.

    Didier

  • Can't find the ODS in query designer

    Hi Gurus;
I am using SAP_BW 30B. I just created an ODS but I can't find the ODS under the InfoArea menu in query designer. I am not sure if it is related but, I tried to check the box for BEx Reporting under ODS settings. When I save or activate the ODS again the check in the box disappears. I can view other ODSs that are previousy created and non of them have a check for BEx Reporting under settings.
I tried to delete the entries in the ODS and try to check again but no difference.
    Need your help.
    Thanx a lot in advance;
    Duygu Sile

    HI,
Select the option, Create new query when you create for the first time on the  ODS and after designing the query it will ask for the Infoprovider under which the query has to be saved, give the ODS name which you  have created.Later Your ODS will be visible while creating queries.
    Hope this helps..

  • How can i reuse a structure in the query designer in 3.5

    Hi all,
we are using the version BW 3.5,  now how can i reuse a structure made int he query designer, because i need it in another query, i did the structure and put it a technical name and save, help guys

    HI Richard,
Create a Structure in Rows/columns and save As it, then in the left Panel of the Query Designer you can see three Folders
    1) Structures
    2) Keyfigures
    3) Dimensions
then Expand the structures Folder, there you can find your saved structure, Structures are 2 types
    1) With Key figures
    2) Without Key Figures
If you have the key figures in your saved structure, then you can find it in the subfolder of with Keyfigures, else in the other folder.
Now you can use this structure by draging in all the queries which are on the same InfoProvider (CUbe. MultiProvider)

    Good Day!

Points are assured for right answer.

  • Error While Logging in Query Designer`

    Hi all
We recently upgraded our system to BI7.0, I am trying to open Query designer, I am getting this error "terminate: the BW server has deactivated this version of Query Designer".......can anyone suggest valuable pts why I am getting this??

The error is happening because the bex version is restricted to 3.x in server.
You can check it in t-code RSZVERSION. Here you will be able to maintain minimum and maximum version which we can use for designer and analyzer.
This is done because the 3.x queries if opened and saved in 7.0 version, cannot be reverted back.
check the OSS note 582944 which may help you.
workaroud for this is dont click OK on the pop up of error message. you will be able to work on the query.
the designner will close only if you click ok on the popup.
    Hope this helps,
    Sri....

  • 2004s BEx Query Designer

    Hi there,
I just finished installing Netweaver04s-ECC component and transported a cube and its related queries from a BW 3.1 system.  When I tried using the Query Designer for 04s, here are the issues I encountered:
    1.  After saving the query on a specific folder, I couldn't see it from SAP GUI.  But when I tried to open existing queries and selected the infoareas of that cube, the query is there.
    2.  Web preview of the query designer doesn't work for me.
Btw, I have the following SAPGui version:
    Release 2004s, Patch 1, Revision 184
    Thanks for your help.
